"SHIT! DAMN IT!"
The sound of searing flames scorching high quality furniture was a common occurrence in the Phenix Household and for good reason.
"SON OF A BITCH!"
Low quakes could be felt throughout the home as one couch was sent through a wall while a blast of flames incinerated a distant wall.
"HOW? DAMN IT, HOW?! HOW THE SHIT DID SOMETHING SO SIMPLE GO SO WRONG?!"
Rizer Phenix was beyond pissed. And for good reason.
"FUCK!"
Just what could cause a renowned man such as himself to seethe with such malice?
Cutting back to a paused video, his bloodshot eyes glare down the image of one Relon Lucinance.
Yes, he knew who the boy was. Nearly every single living being among the remaining houses knew. He was protected by her after all. Each house signed the treaty to give practically divine immunity to the male because of her. She was on an equal level to God himself so none would dare attempt to incur her wrath less the entire Underworld become a barren wasteland if even that.
Despite this, Riser Phenix could not quell the surging rage seeping outside. Flames littered his suit and skin ready to blast off at anything.
Relon Lucinance protected by the most powerful had put a stop to an important operation. One that has taken a large portion of his time investing in for some of his most prized buyers. Now, not only had he lost his buyers, both in investments and their literal lives, but he's now lost his revenue of slaves.
"SHIT!" He roars, melting the video device leaving the corrosive flame to peel through layer after layer.
He was thankful that he was a genius and kept his identity close. What he wasn't thankful for was the only minion he had that did know his identity was in custody of the Gremory household. That rat would spill if he hasn't already. Now he had a target on his back. With no proof but a name, there was little they could do but to have the attention of Relon Lucinance meant the next to even bear a glimpse of the pyrokinetic was her. If that were to become a reality…
"FUCK!"
Relon had foiled his plans and taken his most valuable Nekotama and healer to who knows where. He needed them back if his rise in wealth and prestige was to become a reality.
To do that…
"I need him dead at my feet."
Any who killed Relon Lucinance openly would incur her wrath. But should death take him in a natural manner, then none would come to lose their own lives. Should that happen, even if she would raise arms, the entire underworld would come to his defense without the proper proof.
With that, a sinister glint manifested in his eyes.
He had his plan. He had an out. Now, he just needed the right ones for the job. And he had a list to choose from.
Knock knock knock.
Demeanor shifting, his disdain-filled eyes return as the battered, and slightly charcoal-colored, door creaks open.
"B-Brother?" It was a voice he's hated for as long as he could remember.
Both meek and weak. The last remaining member of their family that breathes because he allows it. Blonde hair, Phenix family abilities, and all. He'd personally seen to it that their family were snuffed out following the discovery of inheritance and land he'd obtain. With certain strings pulled, a few empty promised calls made; the deed was done and he'd risen through the ranks.
Alas, the weakling that shared his royal blood had to remain breathing otherwise many would suspect ill motive.
"Can't you see I'm BUSY!" He strikes at the trembling girl sending her to the ground.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" She cowers raising her arms in a defensive manner.
"WHO GAVE YOU PERMISSION TO ENTER, HUH?!" Pressing a foot against her arms, he applies pressure. "ANSWER ME!"
"NO ONE! PLEASE, BROTHER!"
"ARE YOU GIVING ME ORDERS?! WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!" Delivering a kick to her open stomach, she's sent tumbling over the burning couch to stop at the wall.
"I'm… s-s-sorry…"
Panting, cognitive sense begins to return as a heavy breath escapes. Spitting just before her, he departs.
"Next time I won't be so forgiving. Stay out of my way."
He didn't have time to waste on such inferiority. Time was of the essence. He wasted enough of it as it.
Stopping outside, his peripheral catches one of his most faithful pieces waiting.
"Call them in." He orders departing with his piece close behind.
"Which ones?"
"All of them."
Ravel
Every person wears a mask. This was the life-numbing rule that had ingrained itself into Ravel Phenix's mind.
As an infant, her eyes were filled with curiosity. Every day, she ventured around her home. Each day filled with new experiences to learn and adapt to. Like any child, she began to learn, to understand what both was and did.
The heart and mind were like a healthy plant; kept close and nurtured. Her mother's kindred soul was something Ravel herself hoped and envisioned to be like. Every night as a child, her mother would read to Ravel her favorite story of the knight in shining armor. Her father, ever the firm and authoritative yet loving man, was unlike any other she'd met. On his days off, he would take her into town and sightsee. With teachings from instructors and guidance from her parents, she was well on her way to being a proud member of the Phenix Clan.
At least, until that cursed day.
Flames seared itself atop fleshy, bubbly, skin. Screams and cries of agony washed over the manor as friends, workers, and her own family were massacred. Even her own brother had taken several life-threatening wounds.
At the time, she couldn't grasp how he was still hanging on out of sheer shock. As her bloody mother reached out, an unknown assailant amongst others stomped the hand that once caressed her head so tenderly into ashes.
Her own horrors did not stop. Days following the incident, her tears were used to heal her injured brother. They were the victims in the peoples' eyes but in reality, it was only her. The revelation of Riser as the mastermind behind the entire ordeal was something she could not comprehend. Her further bafflement was set to an all time high as the now imprisoned girl watched as her murderer of a brother snuffed out the lives of the very assailants that helped in his homicide.
There she stood too lost, too broken to understand much less do anything. The only thing that broke her from her frozen trance was the sheer evil that littered his eyes upon making contact. It sent a vile feeling she'd never experienced before.
From that day on, she truly understood that none were who they said they were.
Even as she began to gather her weak bearings, even as her trembling arms moved to support herself, all she could muster was a croak and the lifting of her head.
Eyes fixating on the damaged screen, the point of her brother's anger, she could only drop. Her chances of escaping were in the negatives. Her skills with her abilities were kept under surveillance by her brother's servants. None of them gave her the time of day. She was only met with either silence or childish taunts.
"Someone…"
Even as the final flame within her soul fights, the odds grow more and more dire by the day.
"Anyone…"
And the idea of a knight in shining armor coming to save her…
"Save me…"
Grows ever weaker.
