Finn, the Shield Hero and his slave girl walked out to the field in front of the forest, clearing it of any balloon monsters that called the area home. Finn didn't use his gun to kill the monsters, he just stepped on them until they popped.

After clearing the field, Finn stood a distance away from the hero and waited for the hero to get into position. The slave girl waited on the side, in the shade of a tree with an apple in her hands.

"You sure you want to do this kid? I don't want to hurt you too bad." The hero got into a ready stance, his shield in front of him ready to defend. Finn just tilted his head in response, not getting into any stance.

"Right, I never did introduce myself did I. My name is Finn, and I am a Guardian of the Light, for the last hundred years I have been defending the last city from the forces of Darkness, and now, I am here to assist the Heroes in their quest to save this world." Finn did a quick bow to the hero before waiting for a response.

The Shield Hero seemed a bit sceptical about the introduction Finn gave, but thought it was just a kid making things up. "Naofumi Iwatani, the Shield Hero." The girls eyes instantly shot up hearing that Naofumi was the Shield Hero, sparkles in her eyes.

"Well then Naofumi, let's not delay any longer." Finn reached for the gun in his holster, ready to shoot at a moments notice. Naofumi saw where Finn was reaching for and his eyes widened a small bit, not having seen a gun since coming to this world.

"Raphtalia, do a countdown." Naofumi called out to the girl, knocking her from her stupor at knowing the Shield Hero. The girl nodded her head and stood up with her hand in the air.

"Three… Two… One… Start!" As soon as her arm came down Finn dashed toward Naofumi, causing the Shield to stumble at the unexpectedness of the charge.

"Never let your enemy predict you." Finn gave some advice before jumping over Naofumi and coating himself in purple energy. A purple bow of light appeared in his hand that he drew back, creating an arrow of the same energy, before releasing.

Naofumi raised his shield to tank the attack, but the impact he expected never came. Naofumi lowered his shield, looking around for the arrow and seeing it embedded into the ground behind him.

"You missed!" Naofumi raised his shield once again, but a pulse of energy behind him pushed him off balance as a tendril of energy attached itself to his back. "The hell!" Before the Shield Hero could think of resisting, the tendril began siphoning his energy from his body and weakening the hero.

"That was Shadow Shot, a Void Light Super, it allows me to tether my targets and drain their energy." The voice of Finn spoke out, and when Naofumi tried to find him, he was nowhere to be seen. "I can also cloak myself, making it perfect for assassinations."

Finn uncloaked right in front of Naofumi, his gun raised to his forehead and finger hovering over the trigger. "This battle was over before you even accepted the challenge." Finn did a quick spin with his gun before holstering it once again.

Naofumi, still being affected by the Shadow Shot Tether collapsed to his knees, barely hearing Finn snap his fingers and ending the Super. The Shield Hero barely heard Finn say something like 'Empowering Rift' before feeling a rush of energy fill his body.

"Let's go back to the old man and pick up her equipment." Finn held out his hand to help Naofumi to his feet, which he reluctantly accepted. The girl, Raphtalia rushed over to check on Naofumi but after assuring her that he was fine she returned to her sheepish nature.

There was silence during the walk back to the blacksmith, something that seemed to make Raphtalia uncomfortable. Finn moved back to the girl, letting Naofumi take the lead in guiding them to the store.

"So, you been in his party for long?" Raphtalia jumped a bit at being addressed by Finn, before trying to calm herself and responding, her attempts at calming herself didn't work.

"N-no, Master Naofumi j-just bought me from a s-slave trader before he bumped into you." The Tanuki girl waved her hands in front of her in panic. Finn looked the girl over once again, seeing the malnourishment and shaking he saw when he first saw her.

"Luna," Finn held out his hand and Luna appeared above it, scaring Raphtalia and causing her to squeak in fear. Finn ignored her reaction and spoke to his Ghost. "Perform a scan on her body and use some Light to fix her up."

"Alright, but don't expect me to do this often." Luna huffed before floating in front of the quaking girl. A beam of light shot from Luna's eye and moved over Raphtalia's body before a brighter and thicker beam shot forth and coated her body in a layer of Light.

Raphtalia, who was initially scared over the appearance of the Ghost, looked down at her hands and saw how they visibly gained more meat and muscle. She felt her body, expecting to still be able to fell her bones, but was surprised when she felt muscles underneath her clothes. She turned towards the Ghost and did a 90-degree bow.

"Thank you so much!" She had tears of joy in her eyes and her tail was waving back and forth showing her joy over the situation.

"No problem, just don't expect that to happen too often." Luna bobbed her body as a nod before disappearing in a flash of light back into Finn's Light. Naofumi who had noticed the two were stopped and turned to see what the hold up was had his mouth open in shock.

"What the hell was that?" The Shield Hero waved his hand where Luna was before and felt nothing but air. Finn chuckled at the sight but decided that he would explain when they returned to the blacksmith.

The walk back remained in silence, but it wasn't an uncomfortable one anymore. The group walked with purpose and made their way back to the shop in around 5 minutes. When they entered, the owner of the shop smiled at them and hefted a box holding Raphtalia's new equipment onto the counter.

"I picked out the best equipment for the little lady, within your price range of course." He pulled out a small sword in a scabbard and handed it to Raphtalia. "That there is an iron short sword, perfect for someone your size."

When he handed the girl he noticed that there seemed to be more meat on her, something that should've been impossible for only the 30 minutes that the group were gone.

"You look a heck of a lot healthier all of a sudden, what happened while you were gone?" He asked his question to Naofumi, who in turn faced Finn with his own questioning gaze.

"I'd like to know the same thing, kid was insane during our duel. Used one attack and I was out, then he brings out this small robot that heals Raphtalia. What the hell was that thing?" Everyone in the store turned to face Finn.

"Well, as I said, I am a Guardian, but I wasn't always a Guardian. I was dead for a few centuries, but then Luna found me," Finn held out his hand and Luna appeared once again, shocking the store owner. "And she brought me back to act as a Guardian of the last city. I didn't mention this before, but I'm in a similar situation as you are, I don't come from this world."

Naofumi didn't know what to think of that, he knew that the other heroes were all from different versions of his world, but Finn seemed to be from one that was vastly different from any of their worlds.

"Wait, you're one of the heroes?" The store owner was shook as well, he thought all the heroes had been summoned in Melromarc!

"No, I'm what's called an Envoy of the Traveller, the one who gives me my powers. I was summoned in Calinthea and they assumed I was a hero, so I let them. But no, I am not a hero." Finn explained the misunderstanding.

"So let me get this straight, you're actually 100 years old and you still look like a child?" Naofumi rubbed his head while Finn just nodded his head.

"Yup, and my dad's a robot, uncle's an alien and aunt's a human." Finn dropped another bomb like that as if it wasn't really worthy of mention, but the others clearly didn't think so. Raphtalia fell unconscious from shock, the store owner looked really confused as he didn't really know what a robot was and Naofumi had his mouth hanging open.

"You are really weird." Naofumi gave up and sighed, accepting that he would be travelling with Finn from now on. At least he would probably have a bunch of stories to tell.
