Several Hours Later.
Hop paced back and forth in a frustration that was growing faster than he hole in her stomach. Marnie kept herself to a corner with her Morpeko, slowly nibbling on a grepa berry while her companion was slowly chewing on her seeds. The trainer looked more grouchy than the two sided companion, looking like she'll bite off someone's hand if they tried to lay a hand on her berry. Gloria, in comparison, looked comparable to a skeleton, desperate to take in some nourishment of any kind. "So hungry." Her eye focused on a buzzing fly, her mouth salivated to such a morsel.
Marnie took the berry out of her mouth and barked. "Come on, Gloria! You got a ton of berries to nibble on, don't act like you're some Crogunk!" The girl whined and kicked the air. "But then I'll spoil my dinner!"
Hop crossed his arms and tapped his foot. "This is absurd! Even Lee's never this late. Something's not right. He always does what he says he'll do. As a kid, he promised me he'd become Champion one day, and he went and did just that!"
Gloira snapped out of her hunger trance and her frame swelled back to having muscle. "Do you think something happened to him?" Hop turned to his rival and nodded. "It has to, because messing up his own dinner plans is taking it too far!" Suddenly, Piers arrived with a small bag of snacks. "Kid's sure got a mouth on him, huh?"
Marnie noticed they're pretzel packets. "What else are we to do while we wait? We're getting grouchier than a Morpeko who's missed a meal and we all know what I'm like when I'm in a bad mood." Piers laughed to that and tossed the snacks to the trainers. "I'd figured that someone was about to get hurt." Hop gave a glare. "Oh, pack it, Piers! I'm seriously worried here!" He realized he proved the gym leaders point, Piers sighed. "Well it's no wonder you made one of the biggest ruckus's the Cup has seen. If you need to look for the Champion, I saw him headin' to Rose Tower a few hours ago. He didn't came back out yet."
Gloria huhed. "Why would he want to go there?" Piers shrugged. "Dunno. I ran to him at the monorail platform. He said to tell you that he had somethin' to do there and that he maybe late to your dinner." He admitted. "I probably should have knocked myself on the head and figured out, somethin's not right a lot earlier."
Marnie groaned. "That shouldn't be your business in the first place. Do you think the Champ figured somethin' out and decided to go talk it with that chairman?" Gloria chomped her snacks, swallowed and asked the rock star. "Piers, would you bring us to that Tower? What's going on up there has to be important!" Hop pleaded. "We got a hunch where it is, but we can't find the road way to get there."
That much, Piers understood. "Sheesh! What did I get myself into?" He lifted his head up and closed his eyes. "Though, I s'ppose. It's a real problem for me, too, if this holds up the Finals. And I don't hate either of you two. You were good enough to beat me soundly, after all." He opened and gave a malicious smile. "So I think I'll invite Team Yell along, and we'll all have ourselves a bit of fun. Shall we?"
Marnie felt that was a sound idea. "It's about time we put all that noise to somethin' good!" She cheered with that same malice. "Let's make a ruckus!"
The band of four and the Morpeko went out of the hotel, where a gathering band of the Yell grunts prepared for the anarchy they're about to unleash. Piers half turned his head to the children. "Some of us were startin' to cheer for you two along with my Sis! So it's time the fans get the chance to really help ya out!"
The Morpeko squeed in a cheer and noticed a certain executive lady approaching. Figuring out there was a consequence towards something delayed. "A beautiful display of the fans showing their gratitude. However, it's entirely unnecessary." The group looked on to find it was Oleana. Hop gasped and called her by that name, the woman pressed her hands together, closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "Chairman Rose is in a very important meeting with the Champion and it's proven to be more difficult than played. So regardless of how this has delayed your plans, there is no way I will let anyone interfere!" She looked to the monorail track, going straight towards a tower with a spiral shine of light. "After all, only authorized personnel with the proper key can ride the monorail to Rose Tower." She looked back and crossed her arms in a professional frown. "As long as that meeting is underway, no one can disturb them!"
She looked on to the road ahead. "And don't you dare think about mugging a member of the staff, for that Key. I've have selected a certain few with this and any attempts at taking one, will have legal consequences." Gloria was thinking about the possibility to tell the difference and gasped to a plan. Oleana had a moment to realize, the girl has a pokemon that could explicitly sort the difference. She made a hurry for something and hid a look of absolute peril. The girl of Postwick cringed. "She must have forgotten about Brainy, before she finished running that big mouth of hers." She opened a ball to let out the Orbeetle that is sensing the intention, even he advised. (You wish to take a key and gain access to that tower? Are you sure this is a wise idea?)
Gloria nodded. "If what's going on up there is proven dangerous, then we got to get to that Tower and fast!" Piers thought of something that could help. "We got this one! Team Yell will help make some noise that will distract the crowd!"
The Gold Chin showed a horn and blew into it as a demonstration as the leader thought. "We might find an obvious Staff member somewhere, I've spotted that lady talkin' with these ones that wear those black shades!" Marnie nodded. "So that one ought to have a key if we can shake it loose!"
Gloria had a guess to Brainy. "And I'll bet that they'll start something if they see you. So can we try and not act suspicious?" The Orbeetle nodded and raised his right hand. (Perhaps we can try staying hidden in plan site?)
Gloria understood and gave a thumbs up as Hop thought of an idea. "While the lot of us split up, how about we prepare a signal of something so we can gather up a plan! I'll search around the front of the Stadium."
Gloira liked the sound of the idea. "Brilliant! I'll check the shops myself!" Hop went to take off as Marnie brought out a black Rotom Phone. "If you can gimme your numbers, we'll give this plan a go!" Gloria nodded and had her Phone pass along two distinct numbers before taking off. Marnie head for the town, pretending that she was texting, letting Team Yell and her brother make an uproar across a town in the early evening light. As she finished, she saw the fountain with many of the staff sitting around. Each having a distinct, twilight colored set of shades and looking about as confused as Marnie. It is clear they were ordered to loiter around and weren't told the details as a way to stay distracted.
She and a Yell Grunt with a platinum chain, noticed one particular staff member, by the window of a blue building. Staring at the wall and pretending that he was watching paint dry. The two approached and the Platinum Chain whispered. "Hey, Marnie! This bloke's looking awfully shifty, how are we gonna turn him around?"
The girl noticed the staff member having pokeballs and had an idea. "Leave that to me, just give him the push if he refuses." She hurried and called out. "Oi, Mister, the key just floated out of your pocket!" The man gasped and turned to show a set of black shades. "What?!" He checked his pocket and found a card was still there, Marnie drew out a ball and pointed. "Gotcha!" She smiled with mischief and pointed her fingers at her eyes. "Our eyes are meetin'" She brought a ball out of her pocket. "You know what that means, dontcha?"
The Staff shook his head. "Uh uh! I don't got to battle if I don't want to!" The Platinum Chain blew into his horn, pointed and yelled. "Oi, this lout's refusing the challenge! And he says he's a fan of the tournament!" He bellowed. "Boo!" A twilight haired grunt noticed and joined in the booing, with him was the Crystal Heart. "Boo! You stink!"
The staff member realized he was trapped by honor. "Drat! I'm caught in my principles!" He brought out a ball and wagged a finger. "Alright missy, time to battle!" He sent out a Galarian Meowth that was getting into a battle dance, Marnie sent out her Scrafty. "Alright, get to brick breaking! We got that card nice and easy."
The Scrafty nodded and knocked the Meowth in one chop, forcing the man to press his back to a wall and switched to a Durant. The Yell Grunts gave Scrafty a motivating cheer and he felt his feet lighter than before. "Crunch 'em!" The Scrafty crunched the ant and tossed him back as the staff member ordered. "Counter back with an iron head!"
The Durant stepped back and rushed in a hustle, the Scrafty side stepped to the left and gave a brick break chop before taking an iron head blow and sweeping for a k.o. The man cringed, called his ant back and brought out a strange orb. "Alright then go-" He aimed at a lamp post. "Escape rope!" Pew!
The orb shot out an escape rope with a grappling hook, it clamped onto the post and triggered a reaction that yanked the staff member out of danger. He brought out another orb and slammed it to the ground, puffing up smoke that hid an escape. Thankfully the front gate of the city was being searched by Yell Grunts, or he would have been breaking a sure get a way. The Plat Chain wondered. "Where did he run of too, guv?" Marnie had her phone show a sent text to Hop and Gloria. "Beats me, but we're working on it now!"
Swoop!
A Corvniknight, carrying Hop, was heading straight to the fountain as a way to drop the boy off. Hop brought out a ball and looked around. The staff members looked on to what happened and a brown haired lady with two side bangs asked. "What the heck is Eric doing?"
Hop thought to answer. "We need to get to Rose Tower and see what Lee's doing. He promised to treat me and my friends to Dinner and something could be happening to him, for all we know." The staff member ahed. "So that's why Oleana was running off and texting. I get why you're worried, but I can't even give ya a hint, could cost us a job."
Hop crossed his arms in a pout and is noticing two bystanders talking about something, a Staff Member in black glasses was pretending to join in the conversation. "Looks like you won't have to! Thanks for the heads up, mate."
He sprinted fast as Rooki flapped towards the Staff member and drew his attention away. Hop waved a ball. "Hey, give us that key!" Eric flinched. "How'd you find me that fast? There's no way you'd talked with everyone this soon!" Hop readied a pitch. "We just happened to know what to spot! Now let's battle!" Fling!
Out came a Dubwool that baa'd menacingly. Eric cringed and sent out an intimidating Mawile, Hop asked. "Puff up and press that Mawile into the ground!" The Dubwool swelled a cotton guard as the Mawile rushed to play rough.
Flip! Press!
The Mawile took a full body press and crunched him off, the Dubwool flipped a body press again and knocked her out. Eric took a step back and switched to an Excadrill. "Alright, no more playing around! Get him with a drill run!" The Excadrill readied a fast spin as the Dubwool flipped and body pressed him so firmly into the pavement that he was laying on his back. Eric brought his fallen partner back, used a flash bomb to blind the crowd and make his escape somewhere else.
The Staff member took off his shades and put on a twilight pair, smirking at a genius plan while touching a telephone both. At the caw of Rooki, Gloria and Brainy leaped out of the stall. "Got ya right where we want ya!"
Fling! "Let's get 'em, Acer!" Pop! Out came the Cinderace, Eric gave the girl where it's due. "You're way too opportunistic! But I'll make my getaway anyways!"
He sent out a Steelix that let loose a mighty roar, Gloria and Acer stepped back at the noise. The girl ordered. "Burn him with the sands and finish him right there!" The Cinderace kicked scorching sands right as the Steelix had a bulldozing slam to unleash. The Cinderace flipped back and used a pebble for a pyro ball, knocking hims square off and forcing Eric to switch to a Ferroseed. He grabbed the iron spikes and lifted him up. "Bring up the pressure and we'll get out of here!"
The Ferroseed hummed a glow and intensified the gravity around. Brainy, Gloria and Acer were on their knees while the Staff had his hands lowered. He huffed and hurried to the monorail station, considering the blessing that he lifted weights. Brainy glowed and lessen the gravity. He sent out a telepathic message as Gloria and Acer sprinted.
Once inside, they found Eric putting something on and standing by three more adults in black shades. Marnie and Hop arrived to see what was going on and prepared their pokeballs. Eric wagged a finger. "Stop right there! If you keep that battling for a fourth time or try having your pokemon throw a pick pocket on us, we'll consider it high vandalism! We wouldn't want to report back, that your friend was involved with this. Not when she has a big day tomorrow."
Gloria's eyes widen and she snapped her fingers. "Drat! You got a point, your bosses run the tournament and everything that goes on in it!" Eric had a smug smile at the observant girl while Brainy put a finger under his mandibles. (Would it be anything like what happened on Stow-on-Side?)
As Gloria tried to think of something, Piers arrived and put a hand on the girl's shoulder. "Alright, that's enough." He approached and confessed to the kids. "You've all did a crackin' job of cornin' this staff member. Let me bend some of those rules, 'ere." He brought out a microphone. "Let me sing you a song fittin' of your rockin' deeds!" Eric huhed and looked to his staff members, trying to think up of an excuse to defend themselves. A middle aged man with a white mustache shrugged. "We can't do anything unless he's about to send a pokemon to sing at us."
Eric knows about what Piers does as a passionate hobby and cringed. "Oh no!" Piers gave a nod along with a menacing gleam in his visible eye. "The only thing a humble singer can do is sing a humble song." He started a tune. "Maybe I can't cheer someone on just with the tunes I play. Maybe my songs don't make anyone happy. Maybe I can't help. But still the only thing I can do is sing- sing my humble song."
A band of Yell Grunts entered and begun cheering. "Piers!" "Piers!" Some locals, who were at a floor above, noticed their zigzagoons getting into a dance. A teenage girl with short, shaved, orange hair noticed who was making a ruckus. "Is that Piers?! Why's he doing a street performance?"
A dark skin girl with black hair and hazel eyes hurried to get a look. "You mean a station performance?!" She squeed. "This is so cool!" Bystanders, some looking like business men and women, some being parents with children and some being the elderly, noticed the singing as well. "Come on, let's take a closer look!" The zigzagoons approved of that and scurried down the stair way, right past the staff. Then come a stampede of people, forcing the staff members to make a run for their lives. A sudden Zigzagoon, with red stripes instead of black, tripped Eric and caused a key card to drop out of his pocket.
Brainy used that chance to yank it with his psychic power and give it to Gloria. She waved it to Piers. "We got it! We can take off to Rose Tower now!" Piers nodded and sang. "Gloria! Hop! Sis! Now's your chance! Get outta here!"
The three hurried off a door that would bring them to the monorail. Gloria used the key card to gain access and was the first, along with her pokemon, to enter the cart. The band took off on the ride and it was a quick zip to a sky scrapper that was before the larger city. The front was well kept in the trimmed hedges and from Hop's point of view, the tower was reaching clouds. "Just how tall is this?"
Marnie had a guess. "Taller than Raihan's Ace!" She turned. "Team Yell's gonna have their hands full, holdin' up those staff members. They won't be catching up with us anytime soon." Hop agreed. "Yeah, what should we do now, Gloria?" The girl looked up with a decision and called her partners back. "Well, we're far up here now. So let's go remember the Chairman that Leon has an appointment with us already and that he shouldn't have to be kept up for this long."
Marnie wondered. "Why was that meeting important, anyways? What is the Chairman plotting?" Hop nodded and lead on. "What ever it is, let's go collect Lee and get out of here! If this goes on for too long, he won't be able to start the Champion's Cup or anything."
That was something the trio didn't want to have happening, they rushed in and found themselves at a large lobby with a glass floor right before an elevator. The glass was protecting a garden of blue and red flowers. The receptionist's opened her mouth in shock at the children's sudden arrive and Hop looked around. "Woah, it's huge in here! What in the world is this place meant to be?"
He warned the girls. "Listen, I don't know if you heard, but I've heard that Rose Tower was built on a Power Spot too!" Gloria gasped. "So I'll bet Rose can keep an eye on the energy spike, all the way in the comfort of home. So when we get to the top of the tower, they could Dynamax on us when we least expect it!" Marnie puffed her cheeks. "That isn't gonna stop us from getting' our voices heard!"
The three reached the elevator and heard someone on the speaker. Oleana's voice, ever so calm. "Intruder alert. Intruder alert. All staff are ordered to help remove the intruders from the premises at once." The receptionist squeaked and hid as the elevator opened to let out a trio of league staff members, a man and two women. "You'll be leaving right now! Looks like this is the end of the line for you kids!" He lead with the durant as the left staff sent out a galarian meowth and the right staff sent out doublade.
Hop sent out his Dubwool, Gloria sent out Acer and Marnie sent out her Scrafty. The Dubwool went with critical body press on the meowth, Acer made short work of the durant and Scrafty crunched the doublade for a one hit knock out. The ladies cringed. "Ah man!" "There goes our pocket money!" The team leader groaned. "And our plans to get our own houses!" Hop waved his hand in refusal. "You can keep the prize money. We just need to speak with Chairman Rose! Tell us where he is!"
The three staff stepped aside in their answer. "Get on the lift. The Chairman's at the top of the building, he and the Champion were talking a lot longer than any of us would have liked." Gloria was in agreement. "It better be something that important! Thanks for letting us through." The three called their pokemon back, stepped on the elevator and Marnie pressed a button for the top floor.
The elevator begun it's ascent, taking longer than half a minute, it's clear the tower was built with Dynamax in mind. Hop tapped his foot impatiently. "This is gonna take ages!" Marnie agreed, felt her stomach rumbling and brought out three grepa berries. "Well don't pass out now!" She tossed Gloria and Hop a pick me up. "We got to hold on until we get that dinner!"
The two took the fruit and remembered they're even more famished than before, they chomped away as the elevator slowed down to a stop. They were nowhere near the top of the tower and know that meant staff members were coming. A band of three marched in from the central elevator, they saw the intruders and thought to try being a bit polite. "You three are Gym Challengers, aren't you? We've seen your matches from earlier." Another nodded. "This isn't the kind of place for you to be taking your skills too. We're going to have to drive you out, to protect the subsidiary companies house here in the tower!"
The three lined up, sending out a Klang, a Bronzong and an Cufant. Similarly to before, Acer was sent out to take care of the Klang, Scrafty contended with a Bronzong that focused it's psychic power on the rabbit, while Dubwool handled the Cufant in one blow. Acer took the chance to knock out the Bronzong in a u-turn and give Gloria the que to bring about someone else. The staff realize they've been beat and retreated with the request to not interupt the meeting, letting the elevator continue it's ascent. "Hope we got enough elixers for this."
Marnie brought out a spray bottle and waved. "Those stronger moves don't have a lot of pp, we're going to need those." She tossed a bottle at Gloria while the elevator slowed down. The left elevator door opened to bring about another trio. Giving praise to the companies of construction, insurance and every day living at home. They sent out a Mawile, Kling and a Togedemaru.
Gloria sent out Fubear as Hop decided on bringing about Lycanroc and Marnie, her Liapard. Gloria gave a punch of a hiya at the Kling as Hop had his Lycanroc drill run through the hedgehog and get scratched by the iron barbs. The Liapard let loose a screech as the Mawile rushed at the Urshifu that side stepped and chopped the foe towards a Lycanroc that landed a critical drill run. The second wave of employees called their pokemon back and retreated. The trio used their time to heal their pokemon up and felt they were reaching a mountain peak. Then came the third wave that bluntly told them they're close to the top. They brought about a Stunfisk, Steelix and an Alolan Sandshrew. Hop and Gloria brought about the pokemon they used last time as Marnie sent out her Sharpedo.
Fubear knocked the Sandshrew out in one chop, Lycanroc drilled a critical blow into the Stunfisk and Sharpedo burned the Steelix with a scald and blasted him out of the fight with a dark pulse. Fubear sucker punched the Stunfisk for a finishing blow and chased the last of the employees away. The trainers prepared some medicine and called their partners back as the elevator continued, not stopping until a bright light blocked their exit.
They found themselves under a night sky, in a glass window dome. Before them, was Oleana, who had her back turned. She covered her jaw with her hands and tried calming down. "Unbelievable. You've actually reached the Chairman's exclusive space. Here, nearly a thousand feet above the earth! You've went through the special staff that I've ordered to stop you." She shook her head. "I should have expected this from the trainers that the Champion himself had hand picked and the trainer who's became their accomplice." She turned, having a twitch in her eyes. "But, I'll try and fix this. I'm afraid it's time for you to go home."
Gloria felt her heart skip a beat. "Oh come on, we're starving here! How much longer were we suppose to wait." Oleana raised her hand, to silence the girl. "If you haven't figured it out, I've asked my staff to bluff if they needed to. Being disqualified isn't why your time at the tournament is going to be at an end." The girl huhed. "Wait, what?!"
Oleana nodded. "You would have had to have endangered the masses, destroy public property, land marks or begin assaulting others to even warrant that." Suddenly, she broke out of her calm demeanor, grabbed the air in a stress induced twitch and have a fierce anger in her eyes that look like a woman who was ready to hurl a child off the tower. "I still won't allow you to disturb the great Chairman Rose! You're the only endorsed trainer remaining, Gloria! If I beat you to pieces, then the Champion will have no one to battle with and will thus lose heart. Then he will finally listen to what the Chairman's been trying to say to him."
She was resolved at that decision, screamed out her frustration and drew out a ball. Gloria brought Acer's ball and signaled. "This woman's gone mad! Hop, Marnie, stay back!"
The two did so in caution as Oleana was at the peak of a head ache. She sent out a Froslass to begin the battle. Gloria tossed out Acer. "Come on Acer, we got to get through this lady!" The Cinderace flipped a landing and flexed at the vain specter. Oleana ordered. "Let's begin with a double team, then blow that hot air away!"
The Froslass pressed her hands together as Gloria pointed. "Not so fast, Acer! Pyro ball!" The Cinderace was on it and kicked a scorching ball at the foe, knocking her across the arena in one scorch. Oleana's surprised by the speed and called her partner back. "How cheeky!"
She sent out a graceful Milotic that brought a glimmer to the girls eyes. "Looks like a water type. Time to u-turn!" The Cinderace dashed at the Milotic, kicked her up the chin and back flipped to the girl. Gloria sent out Franken as Oleana crossed her arms and was realizing the girl made it far in the league for a reason. "Stop that thing with hypnosis! We're not letting her get away with more of this!"
The Milotic glowed and twirled in a hypnotic dance, Gloria called to the fossil hybrid. "Look away from it and charge up a freeze dry!" The Arctozolt wasn't even focused on the Milotic and heeded the order to look away. He blasted the freezing air at the serpent and caused her to flip backwards, stiff and frozen. He breathed out another blast as the Milotic struggled to break free. He crackled his beak and sprinted at the serpent for a pounce, pinning her to the ground in a bite and shocking her stiff for a k.o.
Oleana made a switch at the same time that Gloria made hers. The ladies sent out a Salazzle and Shelly at once. The executive gave a glare as the Salazzle half turned, the lizard faced the Slowbro and breathed out a flamethrower. Shelly was in a zen, stepped to the side and focused as Gloria found the chance. "Ram her!"
The Slowbro charged the Salazzle and knocked her out in one psychic blow. The executive switched for a strange, if fitting specimen. A Gardevoir that stepped out with grace, looked at the intruders and had a sharp glare. The embrace pokemon charged up a fast shadow ball that knocked Shelly across. The Slowbro rolled back on her feet as Gloria ordered. "Give her the side arm!"
The Slowbro sprinted at the Gardevoir and knocked her to the side for a one hit knock out. Oleana was near the end of her patience. "Now, Oleana's peeved!" She switched for a Tsareena that made her entry by stomping the earth and pressing her right fist against the left palm. Shelly broke out of her stupor and Gloria asked. "Go for another side arm while we're out 'ere!"
The Slowbro bashed the Tsareena across the face and witnessed a very irritated, unlady like glare. The fruit pokemon took a distinct purple hue, disappeared in acrobatics and twirled a kick that sent Shelly on a flip. The Tsareena cringed and fell over. K.O.
Oleana was at the peak of her annoyance. "I'm at my last pokemon?! Seriously?! Oleana's gotta stop this!" She switched for an even more bizarre pokemon, a rather bumbling Garbodor who's skittish about the mess that's across the arena. Gloria made a switch to the one pokemon who could handle this garbage pile. "It's weird to see that on someone like her. Let's go Brainy!"
Pop!
Out came an Orbeetle that glimmered in lights that made the garbage get lost in curiosity. Oleana pointed at the girl. "I heard that! But I think that doesn't matter right now, so how about I treat you to something spectacular." She aimed a ball at the Garbodor and fed power into the ball. "A Gigantamax at Rose Tower."
She enlarged the ball as Brainy immediately used his telekinetic power to get Hop and Marnie as far away from the chaos as possible. Oleana watched the ball enlarge, embraced it with both hands if to keep it from dropping and hurled it to the back of the arena. Pop! Out of the ball came a growing mountain of garbage, with various toys, from a ship, to a building and even a train, sticking out. Gloria cringed and called the Orbeetle into his ball. "Well, we didn't soup up for this." She powered the ball up and enlarged it. "But this is a first for-" She tossed it back. "Anything!"
Pop!
Brainy was made to enlarge from the ball and raised his hands up to the air. "Unleash the mind storm!" The Orbeetle glowed in psychic power and hovered to the air as a way to blast his psychic might upon the Garbodor, causing the terrain to have a weird aura. Oleana felt the power blow against her and she called to her partner. "Garbodor, let's show this Challenge a move we've been good at, even before we had a change in our image! Malodor!" The Garbodor inhaled and blasted out a stream of greenish liquid that shot the giant down, into a puddle of rancid garbage that made Gloria completely lose her appetite. Even more so, the piece of a building toy that floated in grime.
"Did you really have to do that, you know the lot of us are starving! Brainy, finish her off!"
The Orbeetle was feeling sick and channeled his power in appliance, blasting the Garbodor in an explosion that made her shrink back down and lean back. "Garrrr!"
Oleana groaned and slumped in defeat. "Oleana, you really are a hopeless woman." She called her partner back and petted the ball as Gloria let Brainy shrink and gave him a pecha berry. Gloria's companions returned from watching the spectacle as the adult complained. "This is inexcusable, what was I thinking?! Any gym challenge who's made it far enough to have battle like what everyone say today, is no push over."
Marnie raised a fist and asked. "Are you going to keep us from picking the Champ up? You got anymore up your sleeves." Oleana sighed. "Under normal circumstances, I would have continued. But there isn't much of a point, it doesn't change anything that has been done."
She raised her hands in a surrender. With that, Hop admitted to his rival. "Typical of you, Gloria. You and your pokemon are unstoppable!" Gloria blushed and petted her Orbeetle. "Now let's get Lee and try to forget that we saw all that garbage." She and her partner took the lead and the companions followed, leaving Oleana to press her hands together in a hope. "Please, let the things I've done, pay out for Rose!"
At the far end of the dome.
Leon looked to have seen the aftermath of a battle that went underway. Rose was quite impressed. "That was soundly!" He coughed. "That is related to what we've been discussing. Do you not see what's at stake? You, who is suppose to be our Champion."
Leon closed his eyes and shook his head. "I think I'm understanding it well enough! What I don't understand is why did you do all of that without telling me earlier. The final half of the tournament's tomorrow and you can't keep this a secret from Galar's people forever while we solve a problem that's in the next few decades. My duty as Champion isn't this..." He shivered. "this madness you're trying to shove under the rug. It's to carry out the Championship Match! That's what Galar really wants- and what I want! It's what we've been all looking forward to for so long!"
Rose took a step back in shock and shook his head. "That, you still don't get. You don't understand the little time we truly have!" He directed to the lights of the city bellow. "Look around us, Leon! Look at the Galar Region stretched out before us! And know that the energy required to keep this brilliant, glittering world alive, is vast and easy to exhaust. Any longer this is delayed and there may not even be enough to renew the people of Galar for the future to come. What Galar wants today, hardly matters in comparison to that!" He looked down at the wondrous world. "That future is far more important than one more day! We must act quickly as we can, while we have the chance to avert tragedy! So that we all can look forward to a better future"
Leon looked down with Rose and thought. "I understand your concerns on that, Chairman. But what you've been doing under our noses is going to put everyone in Galar in danger if it goes wrong." He promised. "I'll help you with this plan, just so it can be stopped if it breaks free. But it has to be after the match's is over with. I'm getting the feeling that this one is going to be different from all the others I've faced as Champion!"
Suddenly, a band of feet stepped close. Hop called. "Lee! You never showed up when you were suppose to, so we got worried that something had happened."
Gloria agreed. "It took some help from our pals at Team Yell, just so we can get up 'ere!" Leon oohed at that tale as Rose turned with a smile. "Impressive! I must apologize over that, if we've made you worry after waiting for that long. There are times where adults just can't seem to have an honest agreement with one another. Sometimes our priorities just get in the way."

The Champion, children and Orbeetle took their leave as Rose watched on, having a heavy heart beat at something that is set in motion. He turned around to look upon the world. "One for the history books. You still don't understand, young Champion. We... no, I'm going to have to change the course of history!"
