The late morning, in a humble house in Postwick. Gloria was sleeping peacefully in her bed, after the accomplishment of beating the Unbeatable and rightfully claiming the title of Champion, it felt good to be back home and obtain a glimmer of a humble life. Sweet Pie curled right by her, snoring away and Brainy used a bed on a night stand as a way to marvel a group photo. Gloria crossing her arms proudly while Acer and Fubear flexed by her. Brainy was floating above the girl in a cheer, Shelly was looking around blankly, while Sweet Pie and Franken were smiling in sync and calling out to the audience.
Gloria had a strange dream, of the Slumbering Weald under the glow of morning light. Her vision shifted to the morning across her window and she stirred from bed. Yawn She rubbed her eyes like a regal princess and muttered. "M...Morning." Brainy woke up and glowed a buzz. (Morning. This is the first time we've over slept.)
Sweet Pie stirred as Gloria had an understanding of what was said. "I'll be honest, I was blanking out a few times there." She looked to the group photo. "Last night, we did that. Did any of us saw that coming when we started?"
Sweet Pie woke up. (Erm...) Brainy admitted. (Many of us doubted and only wished to see how far we could go.) Gloria stepped out of bed, showing a cyan blue set of pajamas with the logos of snorlax. She stretched, heard a door bell ringing, followed by the sound of someone entering the house. "Come on, Mum's got to be waiting for us by now."
The three entered a kitchen, finding the Mum greeting Magnolia. The elder noticed the arrivals, adjusted her glasses and smiled. "Congratulations on your victory last night, Champion." She reached for her pocket. "I've got a little something for you as celebration." She pulled out a purple lid pokeball with red spots and a logo of an M. Gloria ohed and took the orb as Mum insisted. "Professor Magnolia! Why, you didn't have to come all this way!"
The elder insisted. "After everything Gloria has achieved, it's really the least I can do. The Master Ball will catch any pokemon that tickles her fancy, without fail. She'll know when the time is right. The Wishing Stars that make Dynamaxing possible are parts of Eternatus. When he awakened, Dynamax energy flooded the entire region. Because of that, Dynamax pokemon were popping all over, causing trouble across all of Galar. But Gloria and her friends came to our rescue. The Dynamax phenomenon has long been an important part of Galarian culture. I hope everyone will use the power of Dynamaxing correctly in the days to come."
The girl recalled and brought out a device that linked to the p.c box. "Because a few decades isn't really enough." Blimp! She smiled and showed a picture of a heavy ball, containing a coiled up Eternatus. "I got an idea that will solve that issue, but I'm gonna need time." Magnolia had no doubts the girl could accomplish what she intended to do. "Young Gloria. If you try to have him lend Galar his infinite power, at this state, he could go on another rampage. But your idea could potentially turn this villain of the legend into a hero that the Galar Region needs. Please, do what you believe is best."
The girl thought and felt a strange calling to somewhere. "It's a stretch, but I know a Master at this place, who could help me talk with Eterny. I just need a good time to do it, because there's a ton of things that aren't solved yet." Magnolia raised a brow as the Mum asked. "Did something wake you up? After the celebration last night, I was expecting you to take all the way to noon."
Gloria nodded. "It was a weird dream, about the Slumbering Weald, where the wolves came from. I need to check that place out before anything else. Fubear, my Urshifu, needs to visit the Isle, because there's this soup that allows pokemon to Gigantamax and she turned that nose of hers when I offered her a bowl. Since I'm Champion now, I'm in for a challenge at any moment too."
Magnolia sighed. "T'is a lot of responsibility you're putting on your shoulders, young Gloria. But you are capable of handling it." She turned to take her leave. "Now, enjoy the rest of your morning." With her gone, the Mum sighed for both her daughter and of the elder. "Poor Magnolia. It seems she's bothered the most by the chairman's actions, since she helped carry out so much of the researching into Dynamaxing for him. Most of the consequences ended up falling to the kids of today, once all of that went wrong." Gloria felt a lot of weight was behind her. "Along with the Champion Cup and everything revolving around it. But they are things that need to be solved or everything is going to go to nothing."
She stretched and yawned while readying her merry band of pokemon. "I'm gonna go wash up and get ready. Could you do me a favor?" The Mum guessed. "You could use a break, so I'll whip up something really big." Gloria appreciated that and had her Rotom Phone go to the Mum. "This is what they normally eat. It really isn't much but Franken's diet is a bit special."
The Rotom Phone showed a few recipes, one of which enticed the woman. "Some peppers and that Chansey egg will do in a pinch." Gloria felt her stomach growling, sent out the rest of her misfits and went off to prepare. Brainy hummed and hovered by the Mum. (May I assist?) The mother blushed as Fubear huhed. (What's gonna be cooking today?) The matriarch of the house went to work and called to Sweet Pie. "Something that will knock you all out! Brainy, set the oven for-"
After Breakfast.
Gloria was in her stylish wears and was in a jog to the Slumbering Weald, after the ordeal a few days prior, the fog doesn't frighten her anymore, in fact it is more welcoming than before. She found her way through the might mist and towards the clearing, where morning light trickled upon the lake side shrine. Before it was Hop, looking like he's contemplating something.
The boy felt fast foot steps and turned in surprise. "Huh? Gloria? What're doing here in the woods?" Gloria slowed her pacing. "The truth is, I saw this place in a dream or something. What say you?"
Hop felt that quite uncanny. "Like something was calling you here? Mate, that's pretty creepy." He confessed. "I got woken up early as well. I've been left thinking a lot since last night." He smirked. "Oh! Congratulations on your victory, Gloria! Honestly, I'm having a hard time believing that my brother's finally been beaten. The greatest Champion that Galar ever had." Gloria snickered in pride. "To be honest, it took us a while to realize that after we overcame Charizard and the others. We were trying to get as far as we could go."
Hop blushed at the humble answer. "It shouldn't be much of a shock that you'd stand a chance. You're amazing Gloria-" The girl had a blush as the rival admitted. "So amazing that we didn't realize how amazing you really are. You got that kind of stuff that helps the rest of us keep up. Those people saw some of the greatest matches that Galar has ever seen, because you were there to lend a hand."
He walked to a side of the shrine and perked. "Gloria, do you think we can have one more battle? I'm wanting to see if we can have that kind of match again." The newly crowned Champion pressed a hand to her chest and went to her side of the pitch. "Since there isn't any power spots 'ere, it can't be that match all over again. But Piers hasn't been needing it himself so-" She smirked and brought out a ball. "Let's see if we can't make a match that is just as good!"
Hop clapped himself awake and tensed. "Backed by the trainers who could catch up with a Champion like Lee!" He brought out a ball. "Let's do this!" Fling! Out of the balls came Sweet Pie and the Dusk Lycanroc that gave a howl to counter the bellow.
Hop admitted. "I know I've been blowing hot air until recently. That's why we've got to keep trying harder!" The Lycanroc tapped the ground as his eyes turned red in a battle frenzy. Gloria confessed. "When we started out, you were talking more than you can handle. But look at you now!" She aimed a hand. "You know what to do, Sweet Pie!"
The Appletun licked her nectar as Hop ordered. "Start off with one mean stone edge and then go for a stealth rock!" The Lycanroc was on it, stomped the ground and made an eruption of rocks that sent the Appletun in a back flip, the wyrm went for a ripen sitrus berry and rolled to fire a spray of the acid, the Lycanroc tossed stealth rocks and was knocked out by a dragon pulse. Hop and Gloria made a switch, Rooki and Franken. Gloria wanted to show case an example and decided as the Arctozolt shook off the cuts of the rocks. "Go for a thunder wave and try out that bolt beak!" Franken nodded and let loose a stunning wave, Hop took a step back and ordered. "We need that light screen more than ever!"
Rooki agreed, flapped a barrier and did something unthinkable, he pushed through the paralysis through sheer will power. Glora and Franken ohed, the girl pointed and gave the Arctozolt the que to charge at the bird with an electrical beak. JAB! A fast jab sent the bird to a tree, the raven bashed the fossil with a firm head butt and sent the foe backwards. "Again!" Rush! Jab! SPARK!
Another bolt beak knocked the Corviknight to his back in a k.o.
Hop breathed out and switched to his Raichu. "We got this Arctozolt now, set up an electric terrain!" The surfer flew out of the ball and made a spark of a current that he sailed across. Gloria ordered. "Quickly, use freeze dry!"
The Arctozolt grunted and blasted ice at the surfer that glowed in purple. "Pelt 'em!" PEW! POW! Rocks of psyshock knocked the Arctozolt into a collapse. Gloria huffed and switched to her Orbeetle. "Come on, we got to stop this Raichu before our plan's ruined!"
Brainy entered and gave a distinct glow as Hop cheered. "Get shocked by this rising voltage!" The Raichu flipped a spin, tapped the electrified ground and caused a jolt that rushed under the Orbeetle and zapped him to a shriek. Brainy let loose the light screen and panted as the Raichu leaped a spin at another current surge. ZAP!
The Orbeetle was zapped to a k.o. Gloria cringed. "We're gonna need a treat after this!" Pew! "Let's make this push count, Fubear!" The Urshifu entered the sacred battle ground and posed for a match, looking eye to eye with the Raichu that caused such a hindrance. Gloria wasn't going to risk a repeat. "No more tricks, we punch our way through and take our victory!"
The Urshifu felt it was a wise choice and charged up in dark power as Hop laughed. "I saw right through that! Give Fubear a good zap!" The Raichu let loose a rising voltage that would have been a knock out had it not be for the light screen. Fubear made her sprint, disappeared and punched the Raichu to a hill for a firm k.o. Hop took a deep breath and switched for his trusty Dubwool, Gloria squinted her eyes. "Meet that sheep in close combat and Sweet Pie ought to finish him off"
The Urshifu grunted and rushed at the Dubwool for close combat, kicking the sheep around like he's a soccer ball. "Counter with a good ol' body press!" The Dubwool rolled to a hill and kicked to make a body wide charge, knocking Fubear to the ground in a k.o and landing on his hooves.
Gloria's pretty impressed and switched back to Sweet Pie. The Dubwool bahed and gave a double edged tackle before getting knocked out by a simple dragon pulse. Hop called his companion back and let loose an ace that hasn't let him down. "Let's chill them out, Blastoise!"
Pop!
Out came a turtle that was distracted by the scenery for a moment and noticed the Appletun. He jumped and aimed his right cannon as a way to fire a fast ice beam that put the dragon out of commission. Gloria took a deep breath and switched to Shelly. "Come on, we got one more obstacle to over come and Rillaboom ought to be a piece of cake!" Hop laughed. "That's what you think, smash that shell and let's wash them!" The Blastoise tapped his shell as Shelly stared into space. Gloria groaned at her luck. "Go for a zen head butt first!"
The Slowbro rushed head first, sent the Blastoise stumbling back and spaced out. Hop laughed. "Now surf!" The Blastoise back flipped and used his cannons to shoot himself to the air, letting loose a tidal wave that sent Shelly in a roll. The Slowbro kept her feet to the ruin stars and Gloria called. "Now for a side arm bash!"
The Slowbro sprinted to where the Blastoise landed and bashed him in the back as a way to knock him on his knees. Hop breathed in and switched once more time. "You haven't beaten us yet, Gloria! Rillaboom!" Fling! "Let's end this!"
The drummer set his stage and stood on the logs as Shelly regained her zen. "Again!" The Slowbro rushed at the Rillaboom and knocked him off his drum set, Hop called. "Get back on stage with a high horse power kick!" The Rillaboom caught his fall and kicked the Slowbro in the face. Shelly fell to her back and passed out in a k.o.
Gloria switched and smirked. "Nice work!" Fling! Out came Acer, who was cut by the rocks and flexed Gloria kicked the air flawlessly. "Let's go in light with a final u-turn! The Cinderace didn't question it and dashed at the Rillaboom trying to keep to his set. Kick! He was knocked to his side and watched Acer perform a back flip, he passed out in a knock out. Hop closed his left eye at a rather close match and took a deep breath. "Shoot! Another close one! That gap between you and me is still in the same distance, mate."
Gloria agreed and brought some medicine for a healing, offering to have her turn. "You got me to Acer, yet again and if Shelly didn't get that blow, I could have been in trouble had pyro ball miss that mark. Has this sort of thing been bothering you?"
Hop thought about it and let out his bested pokemon. "Not that. I'll bet if we take it to Wyndon, we'll surprise the crowd again with the changes to our growing power. But it's just going to be the same until I find what would work against that luck. Gloria, you think there's a bit more than that ol' cup and title?"
Gloria started applying revives and thought about it. "From what Lee said, everyone who's made it to the finals or is a Gym Leader, will be wanting to challenge me for that title. I just got to keep a streak until I lose." Hop nodded. "But then what? What's gonna stop you from taking that back again and starting it over? Think there might be something bigger we can do beyond that?"
Gloria felt her mind was read as Rillaboom and the others were back on their feet. "There is a project I want to get started on." Spray! She used her spare collection of hyper potions and went to tending to her own pokemon. "One that is a lot bigger than a few sparing matches. I'm not sure how to get a good start beyond asking Eterny to listen. But if we got something that would really help, I'm all for it."
Hop blushed and brought out medicine of his own. "Maybe it be a something that big or small. I don't really know yet." After tending to each others pokemon and calling them back, Sonia arrived from the end of a stroll. "If it isn't you two again? I was wondering where you disappeared to."
Gloria waved. "Morning Professor! Sorry for disappearing again." Sonia didn't mind, knowing what's really in the woods. "Morning Champion, Gloria! Congratulations on beating Leon last night!" Gloria gave a bow in gratitude. "Thank you for that one!" Sonia blushed to the girl. "Taking it all in stride like it's your due, eh? You cheeky thing!"
Hop laughed to that. "So what brought you here? You had a weird dream as well, or somethin'" Sonia shook her head. "No, none of that. I just got up late after watching that show. As the Professor, I need to stop doing that now." She went for her bag. "But really, I got the two of you to thank for this. I was just along for the ride on your adventure, but I ended up taking a real interest in the history of the Galar Region." She squeed. "And I came to care for Pokemon even more than I have been before."
Gloria approved of that strive. "That makes all of us, we wouldn't have been able to make it today if we didn't get to digging the real history." Sonia ohed and brought out two signed books that match the Professor's eyes. "Ah, here they are!" She presented them to the children. "These are copies of the book I've been writing! I even signed them as collectors items." Gloria and Hop took the books and gave it a read, more than honored that their names are mentioned in the credits. The boy blushed. "You're making us even more famous than we already are, Professor. Thanks for mentioning us in these."
Sonia smiled wide. "Ah, that's sweet of you. I wouldn't have been able to piece together the story if you didn't bounce ideas with me. Anyway, I've got my gran's blessing and put out my first book under my own name. I think you can expect great things of the lovely Professor Sonia in the future, wouldn't you say?"
Hop took that as an offer. "Yeah, Gloria's been talking a bit about what to do with Eterny. So maybe you can help her figure things out about him." Sonia raised a brow and realize that's a nickname for Eternatus. The girl waved a hand. "I wouldn't talk too much about him around 'ere. Not when the wolves could be watching. So, Hop. You mind if we give Zacian and Zamazentha our thanks?"
The boy nodded. "Yeah, we got to put the Rusted Shield and the Rusted Sword back where we found it." He looked at the slab and a slit. "I think we can make it look nice and proper than when we found it." Sonia got over her shock and asked. "You think the two of your are besties with Zacian and Zamazentha or something?"
Gloria nodded. "Yep! So we ought to repay the favor by making the place a little more decorated." She went to insert the sword in it's socket as Hop placed the shield on the plaque. If it wasn't for the rust, the sword and shield would have made the old shrine stand out together.
Hop coughed and had a speech for the watching wolves ."Zacian! Zamazentha! Thanks loads for helping us out! Took us a while, but we've came back to return your relics and all." Gloria added. "We've set it up so it would look nice. We'll keep protecting Galar and it's future like you have in the time of old." She turned to her companions. "Think we should head back? We got to do some preparations for our trip to-"
Puff!
Suddenly, she saw a puff of smoke and three giant nets coming for her, Sonia and Hop. She eeked and back flipped while her companions got tangled up. "Where did that-"
"Well, well, well. I thought I heard someone making noise over this way!" In a sudden, two rich looking, pompous blondes made themselves known, one had a ridiculous hair style, resembling a sword and a blue suit, the other was a little less ridiculous style of a shield and a red suit. They hurried to the sword and shield while Sonia found an opening to pry open, turning to the Professor to ask. "You wouldn't be the Professor Sonia who wrote the book "Galar: A History"?"
The woman puffed her cheeks. "So what if I am?! What are you lot doing here?!" The bloak in the blue suit nodded, closed his eyes and put a hand to his chest in grace. "Well, we've read it of course! From cover to cover!" The red suit twin added with a similar grace. "I've even wrote an internet review for it!" They spoke as one. "That awful book was filled with lies, so we gave it one star!"
Gloria realize she's dealing with rich snobs and readied two balls. "There wasn't any phoney crud written in that book! It's all things that Hop and I seen with our own eyes!" Hop agreed as he struggled against his net. "That's just plain rude!"
The blue suit bloak announced his name. "I am Sordward!" The red suit bloak followed. "And I am Shieldbert!" They bowed gracefully. "We are the new kings of Galar! We're descendants of the first kings!" Shieldbert added. "More than that, we're celebrities!"
Gloria rolled her eyes at the entitlement as she readied a ball. The royal twins turned to the set relics. "Well, well, well! Could these things here be the fabled sword and shield?" "Well, well, well! They certainly are dirty! They must be fake! I fear to touch them with my own hands." They took the sword and shield as the sound of smoke puffed. Gloria let Brainy out and had him stop the net with his mental powers. "Oh no you don't!"
The twins realized that second fire didn't work and were ready to make a run for it. Fling! Pop! In a sudden, Gloria let loose Fubear, who was looking upon a duo of thieves that were making an escape. "Fubear, stop these cowards!"
Shieldbert eeked and made a run past the Wushu, Sordward tried to get away and was blocked by the audacious girl. Fubear made a sprint after Shieldbert as Brainy floated towards where the net came from, with malicious intent. Sordward cringed. "Would you untwist your pantaloons, we've only picked up something that was dropped there in the first place!"
Gloria's mouth dropped as Hop barked. "We didn't drop them, we were returning it to who they belonged to!" Sordward scoffed. "Oh do shut up!" Gloria reached for another ball as the bloak asked. "If you've got a problem with it, how about you prove to whom they belong, hmm?" He sent out a white duck with a leek of a sword and a leaf of a shield, scoffing in regal arrogance as he tried to rush Gloria with his shield. The girl opened her ball and let out Shelly, who took the bash and shoved the duck away.
"Oh that's it! Shelly, head butt this bird into submission!" Shelly squinted her eyes and gave a zen head butt that knocked the duck down in one blow. Gloria called Shelly back and back flipped in a pose befitting of a dojo student. Sordward broke from his regal look for a shock of terror and brought out a menacing Golisopod. Gloria smirked and brought out Acer. "Come on, it's too late for an impression now!" Sordward cringed. "Swat this pest away, would you!" The Golisopod nodded and drew a liquid blade as the girl ordered. "U-turn out of there!" Acer dashed for a kick to the Golisopod's head and back flipped to his ball, the girl let out Franken who gave quite the dance. Slash! Franken took the liquid blade, cawed in shock and looked at the insect with contempt. "Bolt beak strike!" Gloria raised two fingers in her right hand and pointed fast in sync to Franken pecking the Golisopod and sending a jolt of electricity across his body. Knocking him out in one blow and forcing Sordward to switch to a Doublade, Gloria made a fast switch back to Acer and ordered. "Kick a pyroball and make sure the embers scatter!"
Acer knew why, kicked a pebble and unleashed the fire ball that scorched the sword duo out of the match and scattered hot embers that burned the rope loose. Sordward switched in his frustration. "This is not possible! Bisharp, it's time for our last resort!" Pop! Out came a Bisharp that made a full blitz. Gloria cursed her luck on not having Acer remember his double kick, while the Cinderace tapped to the stairway in confidence, kicked a pebble and flipped over the rushing Bisharp to kick a point blank fire ball from above.
K.O.
Sordward rolled his eyes back in complete defeat. "My... my pokemon." Gloria sprinted at the bloak and swiped the rusted sword away before back flipping and going for Hop's net. The bandit called his Bisharp back, returned back to life and had a scowl of contempt as Gloria felt someone returning. "Alright, you better start talking! How in blazes did you figure out to come here?!"
Sordward scoffed. "What a rude little girl. But if I know better, you must be the one who stopped Eternatus. You were present at the mural my ancestors so artfully created many years ago. What a garish brute. Destroying it like it was simple glass."
Sonia shook the net off as Gloria blew a fuse. "I had nothing to do with that and for your information, I tried to stop the one who did." Sonia called to the girl. "Gloria stop." She asked the bandit. "The Murel? You mean the ones that hid the historical ruins of Zacian and Zamazenta?"
Sordward grew bored and brought out something in his pocket. "I'm withdrawing for now. Next, time me and my brother will bring pokemon that will utterly defeat you!" He tossed a multitude of smoke bombs to make a cloud and made a getaway. Right as Fubear arrived and Brainy with a distinct glow. Gloria called to her partners. "Wait, let him run off!"
Hop got off his net, had fumes of his own and gave chase. "Hey, stop! Where did your brother go?" Sonia cringed as the boy disappeared. She took a deep breath and looked to the girl. "At least you've calmed down, Gloria."
The young Champion looked to the path in annoyance. "Those two have the nerve to cheat those relics away from the wolves and insult you like that." Sonia agreed with the anger. "Do you think they've hired more people, just in case you and Hop showed that you're stronger?"
The girl believed so. "They could have hired anybody and if they were telling the truth, they know something about that legend that we don't. Why would their ancestors cover it up like that?" The professor shrugged. "I don't really know." She gave a run. "Come on, we need to get that shield back." Gloria put the rusted sword away and followed the Professor out of the woods, Hop was caught keeping a jog after a trail, proving quite worry some. The ladies decided to take business to the Lab.
They were greeted by a woman with black hair tied up in a short pony tail, she wore a fitting lab coat and had distinct emerald eyes. She raised a brow at Gloria. "Hm?" Sonia waved hello. "This is the girl I've spoken about, Mayson." She explained to the confused girl. "Gloria, this is my assistant. I've been so busy with research lately that I had to bring on some extra help."
The Champion considered this to have happened at some point during the reconstruction of Wyndon and waved. "Good to hear." Sonia took a deep breath and pressed her hands together. "I've been researching all the Wishing Stars that Chairman Rose has been gathering, here in the lab." She closed her eyes in a charmed smile. "Things are definitely getting hectic again, my my assistant has been handling things proper." Gloria appreciated that as the assistant shook her head. "I haven't really been doing all that much. You're Gloria, the new Champion, right?"
The girl nodded. "That word should be spreading fast soon." Sonia hmmed and asked. "Gloria, would you follow me for a moment? There's something I want you to look at." The ladies went up the stair way, to a computer screen with a set of shifting pillars. "You remember my Power Spot Detector, right? It detects places where Dynamaxing is possible."
Gloria ohed. "So when enough of those particles are concentrated somewhere, the reading's spike." Sonia had concern with what she wanted to ask. "That's how I figured out that something isn't right with those two weirdos. The Power Spot Detector reacted when they got close. They're up to something and we can't afford to let them get their hands on anything else connected to the Legend."
Gloria eeked and went to her box in an instant. "You don't have to tell me twice." The assistant raised a brow as the girl explained. "They're known to hire people to do their dirty work and the last thing we need is for Eterny to fall into the wrong hands." She pulled out a heavy ball for safe keeping. "He might become a handy friend soon."
Sonia had her doubts, but appreciated the quick thinking. "If they're about to use that power for something, then maybe this can be a way to track them down. Follow the Readings of the Power Spot Detector, and you might be able to find those crooks." She thought more about what they accused her of doing. "They might claim to be royalty, with their weird, fancy names. But it's easier to just call them for what they are, don't you think?"
Gloria wanted to get back on the topic. "I'm thinking they're going to do something stupid that will hurt a lot of people, if we don't find a way to stop them. How is this detector going to help us?"
Sonia answered proudly. "I've placed more like these, all around Galar, and now it's time for all that research to shine." She used her Rotom Phone to make fast access, her fingers making for the speed of an Orbeetle on a discovery. Blip! Gloria's Phone came alive and showed the map of Galar, pointing at something occurring at Turffield. "Something's going on at one of the gyms?" Sonia checked the reading and panicked. "Woah! Woah! That's a way bigger reaction than I would've thought! There's only one place where a spike like this would rise."
Gloria guessed. "The Stadium?" She flinched. "Don't tell me they've-" Sonia tried calming the girl down. "Easy, someone could be having a match over there, it's not uncommon for that to happen after the Champion Cup has ended. But these readings are way higher than normal! It's like someone set the Darkest Day off again." Gloria sweated and was ready to take off. "I'm gonna go check it out. If I find anything, I'll send you a text." Sonia approved and let the girl run off, leaving Sonia and the confused assistant behind.
After a quick taxi right to Turffield
Gloria's concern was warranted, as she watched a dark red cloud loom over the Gym, with civilians making a run for their lives. The girl jogged all the way to the gym and found Hop, Piers and Milo having finished evacuating people and readied to talk about what to do. The girl waved to her rival. "Hop! What's going on in here?" Piers scoffed. "Does it need to be more obvious to you?"
Milo explained rather mellow like. "I was right in the middle of an exhibition match with Piers. Then this Dynamaxed Tsereena sprouted out of nowhere." Hop nodded. "We just evacuated the audience right when you showed up! I chased that red guy and say him head into the Stadium with his brother! Right when I got in, I heard that uproar and had to help keep the people safe!"
He's embarrassed at the thought of losing track. "So, er... sorry. I lost sight of them in all the rush." Gloria's quite horrified and patted her rival on the shoulder. "Don't worry, we got a way to track them down!" Piers squinted his eyes in disgust as Milo thought out loud. "Those characters sound pretty suspicious. But for now, we should get this Dynamax Pokemon taken cared of first!" Gloria perked and showed a heavy ball. "Lead the way and we'll handle this in a giffy!" Milo did so. "With the Champion, a semi finalist and us gym leaders, this would be as simple as plucking a ripe apple!"
The four hurried to the stadium, where the Tsareena was holding her head in a frenzy, trying to keep herself from lashing out at the empty seats. She closed her eyes, stomped in a warning and sensed the trainers approaching. She jumped back, looked upon the four in anger and stomped a hole in the pitch. Milo sent out his perky Flapple, Piers sent out a foul tempered Stuntank, Hop sent out Rooki, who was surprised at the maiden's peril and Gloria gave a twirl. "Come on, Eterny, let's get this girl to calm down!"
Pop!
Out came Eternatus, who twirled out of the balls energy and hovered high to the ground. He realize he was let out and half turned his head to the girl. (What, pray tell, is going on for this to-) The Tsareena shrieked and kicked a fast star fall bolt at the dragon, knocking him back and inch and bringing about his attention. Gloria pointed in an order. "Someone's let that loose and I know wild pokemon aren't allowed around these spots! Go at her with a sludge bomb!"
The annoyed Eternatus flinched at the realization that this wasn't something unleashed by pure accident. He looked back at the giant and snarled. (Of all the outrageous-) Splat! He shot a fast sludge bomb that sent the Tsareena back a step as Hop called Rooki into a ball and powered him up. "We got to give a little wind to blow over this storm!" The ball enlarged and the boy tossed it back, unleashing a giant Corviknight that squawked mightily. "Bring out a Max Airstream!"
The bird flapped a twister and the gym leaders looked to each other with a plan. "Flapple, shoot out an acid spray and give Eternatus that opening!" The Flapple swelled his cheeks, flew close to the Tsareena and sprayed caustic acid as Piers noticed the giant with a purple hue. "Give her a venoshock and this will be over in a pinch!" The Stuntank hissed and shot a liquid from his tail, causing the Tsareena to burst in the purple as Gloria pointed. "Now, finish this with another sludge bomb!"
Eternatus laughed and charged something with his core. (Or how about this!) PEW! He fired a dynamax cannon at the grass type and caused an explosion that drew the energy to his body, the Tsareena fell over to her back as she shrank down to a regular size.
She covered her face in shame and kicked wildly. (I shouldn't even be here!) Rooki shrank down as Hop rushed to the grass types side, holding her hand elegantly. "Easy there, it's gonna be fine." Piers and Milo hurried to the calming down Tsareena as Gloria tensed at Eternatus. "Eterny, that wasn't what I ordered!" The dragon turned to her and had a rather fierce smile. (But it stilled worked, didn't it? That specimen was injected with my power and) He used a talon to focus on his core. (it is something I can disperse on a whim!)
Gloria had a moment to realize. "...Right, I should a figured your big move can do that for dynamaxed pokemon. We normally use these spots for a sport, but if a pokemon like that is grown out in the open without a trainer, they'll just get out of control. Someone's got to be setting that off on purpose."
Eternatus grunted in agreement. (And in a way that is just...) He thought about it in annoyance and disgust. (wasteful!) He asked the girl. (You don't suppose you know who is responsible for this? Do you?) Gloria thought about the strange roars. "If it's who I think it is, then I made the right call in bringing you along. If I need your power again, would you'll help us set it right?"
The dragon grunted. (What they are misusing, is mine to reclaim! But your wit and the might of your companions ought to rid me of this nuisance.) He hovered close and let Gloria call him back while Hop and the others carried the passed out Tsareena, bringing her back to the lobby.
Milo applied a revive to wake the guilt ridden queen up and pat her on the shoulder. "Phew! Looks like things've finally calmed down for a bit." Piers recollected the experience and shook his head. "This Dynamax stuff... No matter how many times I see it, I still don't like it."
He gave Gloria a glance. "And that rascal you got there, makes the feeling even worse." The girl admitted to the suspicion. "I'll talk about this idea later, but Eterny's got a lot of work before things can come close to being okay. But even he thinks there's something off about that Dynamax transformation!"
Hop agreed. "There wasn't any trainer anywhere! And this girl seemed like she wasn't even in control of that power herself." Gloria imagined. "The only way a wild Dynamax could happen is if the Pokemon's spent some time in a Raid Den. That's why we got to knock that out of them before we catch them." Milo crossed his arms in agreement. "Quite right! And normally, a caught pokemon needs to respond to a Dynamax Band in order to Dynamax again, but-" Piers felt a strange nerve. "There's some discord in how this one happen."
"Well, well, well. That was quite the chaos indeed." The Tsareena stiffen at the voice as another spoke. "Well, well, well. Looks to me like the Champion's making a gamble." The band turned to see Sordward and Shieldbert at the right booth, looking like they spectated a show. The Tsareena eeked and hid behind Milo. Hop's nostrils flared and he readied for a fight. "You! Give that Rusted Shield back already!" Sordward laughed at the boy. "Well, I never. It's not like it's something that belongs to you, either." Shieldbert laughed with his brother. "Even if it were yours, we wouldn't give it back."
Hop growled as Gloria readied to bring out Brainy's ball. "Of all the- you better hand it over before Brainy makes you!" Piers glared at the brothers. "Who in the bloody hell are you guys? Everyone else should have gotten out of 'ere by now."
The brothers gave a mocking bow. "The normal rules simply don't apply to us!" "Yes! That's what it means to be celebrities!" Piers didn't by that. "Of all the-" Sordbert sneered at the gym leader. "Who is this ruffian to question us? You're just someone with strange taste in hairstyles!" Shieldbert agreed. "His entire style is complete back and white nonsense. Isn't it, Older Brother?" Gloria balked. "You two are the last ones to be talking about hair styles!"
Piers put a hand on the girls shoulder. "Easy there! You'd think I'd put any care in words from rude little punks like these?" The champion felt her blood boiling as the brothers looked to each proudly. "But it seems our experiment was a success, younger brother." "Quite, quite. Next time let us try to Dynamax an even stronger pokemon." Gloria gasped as Hop froze in shock while Sordward voiced out the plan. "Yes, yes! At least we shall reveal the true nature of Zacian and Zamazentha!" Hop gave a glare that would be befitting of Dusk Lycanroc at the end of his patience. "Are you kidding me?! Do you have any idea what could have happened if we didn't get here in time?!"
Gloria was ready to unleash Brainy as Shieldbert waved to her. "You despicable Champion! We're going to keep letting Dynamax Pokemon run wild!" The blue suit brother laughed and pressed a button in sync with his brother. "If you want to stop us, do your best to chase after our splendid- looking bottoms!" Shieldbert laughed in mockery. "More like... celebrity bottoms!" PEW! They teleported out of there right as Gloria let the Orbeetle out, the girl realize the two got away and let loose a wail.
Piers asked firmly. "Calm down, Gloria. You don't gotta act like a ticked off Houndoom over this." The girl pleaded. "But they're putting people in danger over something stupid!" The Spikemuth Gym Leader agreed and signaled that Milo go tend to the terrified Tsareena. "And they could be wantin' to lead us into a dangerous spot. It's a bad idea to run in with smoking pistols." Brainy gave a distinct glow that brought Gloria in a trance, he took a deep breath and tried to count down, the girl mimic the breath, raised three fingers and lowered them down. Piers appreciated the handy psychic type and let the girl go. "Thanks to those bloaks, runnin' their mouths, we know they're goal is to force Pokemon to Dynamax." Hop added. "And that they plan to continue doing it at the Power Spots." Gloria calmed down. "We got to stop them soon. We'll get angry about this, after we get those crooks in a corner."
The band made their leave from the gym and found Sonia rushing towards them. "Oh, thank goodness! Things are a right proper mess!" She's especially worried for someone. "Just when I thought the Galar particle count around 'ere had calmed down, I started getting huge readings from Hulbery and Motostoke Stadium! So what exactly happened here?" Gloria pressed her lips together as Hop answered for her. "I'll tell you what happened! Those two crooks forced a pokemon to Dynamax and used her to go on a rampage!" Sonia gasped. "What?! Are they crazy?! People are going to get killed by that!" Piers agreed to that. "And they're settin' this off again at the other gyms!" He flinched. "Oh no! I left Marnie behind at Spikemuth!"
Gloria gasped and tried keeping him calm. "Easy, easy! Spikemuth doesn't have a Power Spot! But it's pretty close to cities that do." Sonia considered that a blessing. "So we got to figure out which place we got to get to first!" Hop thought about it and snapped his fingers. "Kabu's pretty tough, so he can buy us time to check Hulbery out!" Sonia cringed. "Eek!" She took a deep breath. "Nessa ought to use your help. In the meantime, you can leave me to look for those sword and shield weirdos. I can poke around the net for sightings of them!"
The three appreciated it and took off to the east. Sonia went to take a taxi and head to Motostoke Stadium to get an assessment of the situation. On landing close by, she found Gym Trainers and Staff working together to get the civilians as far away from danger as possible. Organizing the evacuation was Oleana of all people, keeping a calm face in the catastrophe. She noticed Sonia approaching her and blew a whistle. "Please, we have a... significant, catastrophe occurring in there. Step back and let a trainer handle the worst of the dangers."
The Professor groaned at the Chairman's secretary and thought of something. "Oi, you happen to know a few things kept behind closed doors. You happen to know anything about this Royal Family these two twins are talking about?"
Oleana raised a brow. "Those ignorant celebrities?" She put fingers under her chin. "You could say the Chairman had a few appointments with them in the past. But those never went anywhere." She realize, from the whole ordeal with Eternatus and the rumor that two distinct wolves, one wielding a Sword and the other wielding a Shield, that the outbreak is connected. "I was meaning to look into that after reading that book of yours. But why are you asking about them in particular?"
Sonia sighed. "It's a long story, but those sword and shield haired weirdos caused that pokemon in there to Dynamax, along with Turffield and-" Oleana's eyes tensed as the professor finished. "Hulbery. Helps on the way, but until we can track those criminals down, they're just going to cause more problems to show up."
The adult realize those eyes are that of someone who was very crossed, Oleana closed her eyes and breathed out. "They really don't care about anyone but themselves, do they." She looked to the Pokemon Center and advised. "Keep this to yourself for now, I'll find you as soon as this is calmed down. I might be able to help." Sonia huhed in confusion, but felt it would be fine to take the adults word for it. At a rather calm place where she could look up on the internet in peace.
At Hulbery Stadium.
Gloria and her band reached the inside of the lobby and found Nessa looking at a closing door, she was about to give chase when she heard foot steps and turn around. She raised her hands at the approaching children. "Don't go rushing in, you lot! Things are pretty dangerous here!" Piers nodded. "We know about the situation. Are the staff and spectators all right?"
Nessa crossed her arms. "Yes. They took shelter just a short while ago. I was about to handle the Gyarados in there when a certain challenger came rushing in to help." She turned. "We don't got the time to chit chat, if you're looking to help out as well, follow me!"
She sprinted and gave the three a moment to look at each other and hurried. Making their way to the pitch and seeing a giant Morpeko getting into a show down with a Gyarados that is looking to be in great distress and is doing the one thing that has gotten him out of danger many times over. Rampaging across his surroundings, a particular girl ordered. "Alright, Peko! Give this poor fella a Max Lightnin' jolt and the place ought to be safer again!"
Piers, Gloria and Hop recognize that voice, the brother gasp. "Sis?!" The Morpeko crackled lighting and shot it to the sky, electrocuting the serpent to where he wailed in an explosion and shrank back down, twitching from the voltage and collapsing in a rather pitiful sob.
The Morpeko shrank down and let loose the red mist that cleared to show a very familiar shadow. It turned to revel Marnie, who gave a smile to her partner. "Easy peasy!" She noticed Nessa and waved. "Told you I got it covered from 'ere! Never thought I'd see a Gyarados that is scared out of his wit!"
Nessa stopped, sighed and smirked. "I should have expected this from a semi finalist!" She went to the Gyarados and readied some medicine. "I'll get the rest from here, there are folks who might want to know about how this happened." Marnie wondered and saw who was approaching, she gasped as her brother broke out of his calm demeanor. "Sis, didn't I tell you to stay by Spikemuth while I handled some business with Milo?"
The sister nodded. "I was, until the telly broke some news about pokemon dynamaxing out of their control around 'ere. There isn't any hot spots around home, so I figured someone's gonna need a hand if they got caught up in all this." She smiled to Gloria and Hop as Piers sighed. "Eh, fair enough." Gloria agreed and explained. "Piers; Marnie and Bede helped Hop and I when Eternatus was focusing on the wolves. Maybe it would be a good idea if she helps us bag these Dynamaxed pokemon, while you help Sonia do some detective work and catch those crooks that are causing all this!"
Marnie gasped. "Really?! What kind of nonsense is goin' on this time?" Hop breathed out his answer. "Some rich celebrities are making these pokemon Dynamax and are putting people in danger on purpose. You'll know if you see them and hear them." The Spikemuth Princess had a glare and begun growling. "Some pampered, soiled sort is doing that?! Why if I get my hands on them-"
She turned to Nessa and hurried close, wanting the bystanders to look at the serpent that was coming through and coiled in tears. The water specialist rubbed his belly as a way to calm him down. "Don't cry, don't cry. You're safe here." The Spikemuth Princess asked her brother. "You'd think these pokemon want anythin' to do with that? You see what's wrong with this picture?"
Hop crossed his arms in agreement. "Gyarados can't help those urges and being forced to Dynamaxed caused him to panic like he was a magikarp." He had a strong pity for the fearsome creature. "Poor fella." The Gyarados relaxed while Nessa half turned her head. "You need to hurry to the Motostoke, fast! Once the situation has calmed down, you can focus on finding who ever caused this."
Piers lifted his head in contemplation. "We know who's done it. You know I'm goin' to make scars if you let me catch them, right?" Marnie really doesn't mind. "Who ever these jerks think they are, they're asking to get their faces rearranged to where they won't look pompus anymore." Nessa cringed at the ferocity, but isn't going to stop them. "They're leaning too close to the edge of the water. The Barraskewda has quite a jump when they feel like it." Gloria imagined the damage that could be done. "They got a sharp enough snout that they're going to leave a mark!" She turned to leave. "Come on, let's head over to Motostoke!"
The band left Nessa with her ward and took a quick Taxi to the next city, where the Stadium is having a volcanic eruption from something in the center. The children had Piers go look around for Sonia while they head to the Stadium Lobby, finding Kabu ordering Coalossals to barricade the glass windows with rocks. He noticed someone coming and turned. "Champion Gloria! And Marnie and Hop, too!"
Hop appreciated that he was remembered. "Glad you remembered us!" Kabu smiled wide. "Of course I would! You and Gloria were red hot, after all! I'll never forget seeing you off after you'd completed your first leg of the Gym Challenge." Marnie coughed. "I don't think we're 'ere to for a friendly chit chat! What's causin' that eruption over there?" Kabu coughed and appreciated that the glass didn't shatter. "A Torkoal that dynamaxed out of nowhere and begun spewing smoke. We've already gotten everyone out of there, but we need to take care of the source of the problem first!" Hop snapped his fingers to an idea. "Maybe we can douse the heat and get to that Torkoal before he makes another scorcher?" Gloria snapped her fingers and turned. "I got a way to get over to the Pitch! You guys lead in from the way of the wave!" She hurried out as Hop and Marnie sent out Blastoise and the flopping Sharpedo.
Kabu hummed. "That would do!" He saw the torkoal's fire die down and had his lent pokemon pull the rocks away. At the opening of the door, the children used a combination of a chilly surf wave to wash right through the fire and make for the pitch. Where a giant Torkoal that is wheezing, was seeing arrivals and stepped back. He hissed a warning as the sky heated up. Marnie shined her Dynamax band and called her Sharpedo into the ball. "I'm making that opening!" She charged the ball with Dynamax power, enlarged the ball and tossed it, unleashing the brute that gave a sharp roar. "Blast that Torkoal's heat with a good ol' Geyser!" The Sharpedo opened her maw and fired evaporating water that blasted the panicking Torkoal and caused a torrent of water to block out the heat and bring down cooling rain. Hop ordered. "Follow that with a Hydro Pump and we'll have this!" The Blastoise grunted, opened his vents and fired, as Kabu readied to sent out his Centriscorch, he saw a bright red light in the sky. A skeletal dragon descended down with a charging power in his chest. On his back was an uncomfortable Gloria, who aimed an order. "Now blast that power away, Eterny!"
Eternatus gave something a wide smile and fired his Dynamax Cannon at the turtle, bursting the power into red mist and absorbing it while the Torkoal shrank down and collapse. The match was effectively over and Kabu went to pick the turtle up. "Looks like you've been able to extinguish this, just in time!" Marnie let her Sharpedo shrink and admitted. "We got a bit of skills' ere and there."
Eternatus slowed his descent and let Gloria off. He looked to the Sharpedo, rather impressed. (So this is what that power's been used for?) Blastoise had a sweat as the Champion explained. "Normally, we Dynamax around here, for the sake of a sport. A fierce battle of epic proportions. But that Torkoal was alone and scared." She smiled to her friends. "Even if we didn't show up to get that final blow, you had that Torkoal beaten anyways. Nice work."
Marnie blushed as Hop snickered. "Thanks! So why are you having Eternatus help us out like this? What's the big deal?" Gloria breathed out of her nostrils. "It's a trust exercise, to see if he'd figure out what's wrong with all this. Since I'm keeping him out of the box anyways and all."
Eternatus had a red hew and looked away in denial as Marnie guessed. "I don't think he minds the giant pokemon, it's just the why that's bothered him." Hop added to the knowledge. "Why his power is getting spent like that in the first place." Gloria nodded in agreement. "And Acer's sand isn't enough to just knock out Torkoal." She readied to call Eternatus back. "So this ought to be the last of the spots down 'ere. Go rest up while we figure this out."
The entity didn't mind and was back in his ball. Blip! Blip! Gloria heard it coming from her Rotom Phone and saw it was from Sonia. "We just finished business up here, Professor, what's going on?"
The Professor over the phone was in a bit of a panic. "Thank goodness for that, but we got into more trouble. Me and a friend just headed back to the Lab and found those two weirdos, picking apart everything. They're rudely demanding that I hand over the Wishing Stars. My partner's getting really mad about that, please get over here before she ends up breaking something!"
Beep!
Marnie huhed. "What're they doin', goin' after those Wishing Stars?" Gloria felt cold. "Bloody! They're trying to get more Dynamax fuel! Hop, Marnie, we got to hurry!" Hop felt the words taken from his mouth and lead a sprint out of the stadium. What kind of disaster are they about to witness.
