Hello All Again! This is the short story that I mentioned last time, I still haven't finished it yet but I plan for this to only be about ten chapters so I do hope you all enjoy it!
I also want to remind you all again that this one is a heavy theme, and thus I warn you. Also always look for help if you find yourself ever thinking of such thoughts of suicide. As someone who has survived a failed attempt, I can honestly say that when my friends reached out and got me to go to a mental hospital it helped greatly. There is always a reason to push on, it just sometimes is hard to see it through the fog that is your mind.
Once again thank you all for reading!
It was another normal day for Weiss at Beacon Academy, albeit a little chillier than average since it was in the middle of winter in Vale. Though to Weiss, it was still rather warm compared to the chilling breeze of Solitas. Vale paled in comparison. Her team may say otherwise, as her leader and partner Ruby Rose and her sister Yang Xiao Long hailed from Patch, a small island near the city of Vale, and thus was astounded that Weiss could stand the weather. Her third teammate Blake stated that she had lived outside the Kingdoms, but refused to go into detail about her past. She seemed to be able to handle the cold, though still, she would prefer warmer clothing. Although the sisters found the weather unfavorable, that did not stop them from wanting to go to Vale today, like most other days that they had off from classes.
It was a routine that Weiss had started to rather enjoy after her two months with her new team at Beacon Academy. At first she found herself at odds with her team leader, with her being rather childish at times and having a personality at complete odds with what her father raised Weiss to be. Though, at this point, Weiss would say that she is her best friend, something that she would never admit to anyone! Ruby had somehow found a part of Weiss that even she herself did not know still existed and that part was dragged back out. She brought warmth back to the "Ice Queen" that Beacon knew her as, and to Weiss it was the greatest thing that anyone has ever given her. She also may have stolen Weiss' heart along the way.
Yes, Weiss Schnee was a lesbian, a fact that no one [and she means no one] in the entire world knows. If her father knew, she could only imagine the 'Correctional Facilities' that he would send her to, all in the name of fixing his broken daughter. So expertly like everything else in her life, Weiss buried it, just to save both her and Ruby the pain. It felt horrible to Weiss to do such a thing to her first and only love so far in her life, but if anything Weiss Schnee was used to such pain and would not let it show.
Getting back to her day so far, it was going great. She was going to spend it in Vale with her team and around the woman that she loved. That was until she was notified that a letter had come in for her from Atlas. Upon hearing that, her mood took a swift downturn and caught the attention of her three teammates and friends. She then proceeded to dismiss all of their worries and to go to Vale without her today as she needed to read the letter. Ruby had insisted that they could wait for her [such a sweet and caring woman] but Weiss refused, as she knew not how long this could take and she did not want to ruin it for them. After much convincing and Yang helping Weiss out [for once] Ruby relented and the three of them went to Vale fifteen minutes ago.
That brings Weiss to her current matter, staring down at an envelope from her father [of all people]. Whatever that it entailed must be important for him to even think of writing and sending it to her. So with much tribulation, she used her letter opener and unsealed the wax holding it closed. She slowly pulled out the immaculate paper inside and opened it. She immediately saw the Schnee Snowflake on the upper right corner of it and knew that it was indeed from the manor. She could tell it was directly from her father as well, from the penmanship of the words written on the paper. This really piqued Weiss' interest. It was so important that he didn't even have a servant write it for him. She finally decided to read what was written on the paper:
Weiss,
I have written to you of my grievances with your current interests. I have chosen to write to you as all other forms of communication with you have been denied by you. You are acting quite unbecoming of one of the Schnee family and yet, I am not surprised.
Weiss simply rolled her eyes at this, [leave it to a man that married into the Schnee family to tell her how a Schnee acts!] Yet she continued reading on.
Your decision to enter that barbaric school learning useless knowledge brings me great displeasure, and yet I cannot see you do otherwise. Seeing a Schnee frolicking with commoners of no worth also does not bring me any real questions as it also fits my view of you. Yet the thing that I find the most surprising is the fact that you are not the leader of your team, rather you are being led by a mere child and you allow such a thing.
Great! Her father must have people tailing her to know these things so soon. She had hoped that it would take him longer to find out and that by the time he had, Ruby could have proved herself to the world like she did to Weiss. Weiss was also getting rather angry as he was calling her friends worthless, when to her they were the most important people in the world. At this point, they were even more important to her than her very father.
With you displaying such disgrace, I would feel inclined to call you back to the Schnee manor and have you reeducated, if I felt that doing such a thing would help fix you. Alas, I am to the understanding that such a caring act will do nothing and you would simply do it again. So I find myself at a crossroads with what to do with you. You attending such an useless academy does not bring me any returns, unlike your sister.
[Great, now he is bringing up my older sister, Winter]. Someone that Weiss highly looks up to and is much better at almost everything compared to Weiss. Weiss loves her sister, but she utterly detests the fact that anything she does is compared to her. She gets a nearly perfect score on a test and she is only reminded that Winter would have had a perfect score. She gets accepted into the greatest huntsmen academy in the world and she is reminded that Winter is a specialist in the Atlas military, and the right hand of General Ironwood.
Even with her desire to join the military over taking over the SDC, she has found a way to bring a profit. While she is still under that imbecile Ironwood, she has indeed made great connections with both the military and Councilmen. This has allowed me to make more money on projects once thought impossible to the SDC. I do not see you ever giving such things in a school that already primarily uses my dust, and with individuals that truly do not care where they get their dust from. You are not making important connections, as I fathom all people that you are to ever meet at such an institution will not be among the living within ten years.
So I have come to a decision, why not cut off the cancer that plagues the Schnee family before it could spread? That is why I am informing you that upon the next quarterly report you are no longer to be the heiress of the SDC. That role is now falling to your younger brother Whitley, someone I know will lead the SDC to a brighter future. I am also cutting your name from the family registry and formally disowning you from the family at such time. From this moment on, you are allowed free to do as you please in such filth, just no longer as a Schnee.
If I was you, I would rather die than let such a stain beseech your reputation. If you choose such an option before your disownment, then I will have you buried as a Schnee. If not, then you shall live the rest of your life in squalor.
-Jacques Schnee
Weiss stared down at the paper in her hands, unable to fully comprehend what she just read. Her eyes went wider and wider as she reread it again to ensure that she had not made a mistake. Alas, she did not make a mistake because her father was truly cutting her off. What could she do? She would be made a mockery by her fellow students once the news went out. She would lose her friends that she just made and the mere thought of the ire in the eyes of the woman that she loved, broke her heart. She was nothing without the Schnee name, nothing without the SDC, nothing without her money. She had nothing and people always sought out something. No one would ever seek out the empty shell of the woman that was once the heiress of the SDC.
So she went back to what was taught of her, back to the teachings of the man that had caused all this pain. She neatly folded the letter up and slipped it back into its envelope. She hid the letter under her mattress. Once that was finished, she laid down on her bed and shut the world out. [A Schnee must not show pain, any weakness is something that another can use against you.] Her mind raced at what was happening, and what she could truly do.
Ruby returned to the dorm happy as ever with her journey into Vale today! They got to see so many cool stores, [including two weapon stores as Weiss was not there to stop her] and even got cookies. There was nothing that could possibly bring her day down now! Because Ruby was energized from the adventures of the day, she burst into her dorm and yelled "Weissss!" In an attempt to get her best friend to act up like she normally does. Afterall Ruby found it rather cute, with how easily surprised Weiss gets and the way her velvety voice scolds her.
She stopped almost immediately upon entering the room, sensing something was horribly off. Her eyes caught her partner laying in her bed staring into the wall across from herself, and noticed that she had absolutely no reaction to her antics. But that was not what truly surprised her; what truly caught her attention was Weiss' eyes. The once vibrant, icy blue that showed the heiress' true emotions were completely dulled, and where there once was life was just emptiness. Ruby knew something was wrong, but she just could not figure out what it was. [Though she will, for she was Ruby Rose and she wouldn't let her friends be sad!]
So she slowly inched into the room, closer and closer to Weiss. Her eyes never left her white haired friend, watching for any movements as she closed the distance. Eventually she ended up right next to Weiss, and the entire time Weiss had not moved at all.
"Weiss, everything alright?" Ruby asked. Once again Weiss had no reaction at all, as if she was dead to the world around her.
Yet the world moved on, even if Weiss pleaded for it not to. It was time that then led the last two of her team into the room. "Rubes, you gotta slow down so we can keep up with you." Yang jokingly said as she entered the room. Of course just like Ruby both Yang and Blake were in good moods, and just like Ruby they could tell that something was off.
Ruby looked over to her sister and whined "Yaaang, somethings wrong with Weiss." Now Yang would have investigated no matter what, but the kicked puppy expression that Ruby was giving her at that moment only sealed the deal. [I mean who could possibly go against such big teary eyes and a quivering lip?] With that, Yang slowly walked to the end of Weiss' bed and put her hand out in front of the heiress' vision and started waving.
Eventually, the waving caught the attention of the white haired woman and she blinked a few times before she looked around the room at her friends. Ruby was the first one to respond worryingly, "Weiss, are you ok?"
Slowly, Weiss responded, her voice cracked as she relayed her answer "Yes, Ruby. I am fine."
Yang spoke up this time "Yeah, see that right there tells us that you are not fine."
Weiss turned her head to the boisterous blonde that just spoke to her and she responded "I am fine, just a lot on my mind right now."
"Wanna, talk about it?" Ruby asked.
Weiss simply shook her head and replied "No, I really do not want to at the moment. It's ok Ruby, I will be fine."
Ruby put her hand down on top of Weiss' and sadly responded "Ok, but just so you know we are always here for you. So, please tell us when you are ready." With that, the others started their nightly routines and soon were in their own beds. As the lights were turned off, a single tear rolled down Weiss' eye as she had finally come to a conclusion. She would much rather die being their friend than to ever lose those that she truly loved. The next quarterly report was in two weeks so she had time. Plus it was only nine more days until the winter break, when the other three will be going to the Rose-Xiao Long household. If she could last until they left, then she would be free to end her life. With only nine days left she wanted to spend that little time with her friends.
