lordgemini: Yeah, the Quaoar thing was always going to be weird. Since that was the way it was arranged in the original series, that Chris set it up and enforced it, I figured just having that scene there made the most sense to add the realism to it. I'm glad you liked the other changes, I'm very happy the rest of the merge gets their own focus too.
Let's check up on our losers today! How are they doing?
Episode 18: Somewhere Over the Island
Chris was at a different location today, with palm trees, breezes, and nothing but serenity in the air. "Last time," Chris began, "on Total Drama Karon Island, our final five were treated to a day of Chef!" Opening clips played of everyone hearing Chef's voice on the speakers in the morning. "Chef, just as upset about my Disaster Dome breaking, decided to make his own disaster by blowing up a chunk of Mount Karon...again. The final five had to make a lap around it before their great ascent, all while Chef was hurling boulders at them!" Clips played of Chef hurling the giant boulders, specifically the ones that caused divots in the ground. "After a bout with our friendly demon, Jonathan was saved by Ethan, who was returned with a betrayal by Jonathan." Clips played of Ethan pulling Jonathan out of the hole, then being shoved in himself. "In a fight for immunity, Jonathan, Angie, and Paul teamed up to stop Chef, but due to some quick...yeah, quick, thinking by Jonathan, he stopped Angie and let Paul take the win." Clips played of Angie being sabotaged and Paul crossing the finish line.
"Satisfied that he earned Paul's trust, we headed to elimination, where Jonathan was blindsided by the fact that Paul used his brain for one second and realized he was never a target. Bye-bye, Jonathan!" Clips played of the elimination, Paul revealing his vote, and Jonathan being launched into the sky. "We're down to four! Our heroic corrival, Ethan, our anger management expert, Angie, our disaster of disaster domes, Kara, and our doom and gloom football guy, Paul! Their fate will be tested here, at our brand new resort! Our sixteen losers have been living it up here, enjoying their quick fall to the other four still in the game. How are they doing? Who do they want to win? What will they decide today? Find out right now, on Total! Drama! Karon Island!"
Opening Sequence
[Various cameras and other director equipment come popping out of various points on the island. Firstly, it appears out of a large tree, then out of a hole at the entrance to the mines, and finally, shooting all the way from the top of The Chasm.]
Dear Mom and Dad, I'm doing fine,
[The camera zooms all the way up at the top of Mount Karon. Kara is at the top, observing something as Kayla jumps off of the cliff and starts flying downward, opening up a parachute at the very last second.]
You guys are on my mind,
[The camera moves to the beach, where Gretchen falls off of the rocky cliff and lands face first into the water, still splashing around happily anyway. Nearby, Juan is relaxing in the water as Hannah pops up next to him, evidently annoying him.]
You asked me what I wanted to be, and I think the answer is plain to see,
[Near the beach, the fourth boat is still wrecked and crashed into a rock. Helio lifts the boat out of the water to move it, all while Daniel is still on it, shocked at the boy's strength. Meanwhile, Madison emerges from the boat wreckage as well, and Jonathan offers his hand to help, which she takes begrudgingly.]
I wanna be famous!
[Further into the woods, Paul is narrowly racing against Sarah in a race. The pessimist trips over Sheldon and crashes to the ground, upset over his loss because of it. Flora rushes over to check on the safety of both the boys.]
I wanna live close to the sun,
[At the base of Mount Karon, Randall is decked out in climbing gear, excited to start moving up the mountain. Next to him, Alexa, looks significantly disinterested, sleeping on a log instead of watching.]
Go pack your bags cause I've already won,
[In the forest, Chad is screaming and jumping around to different trees, while Angie stands in the middle of all of it, covering her ears and getting increasingly more agitated.]
Everything to prove, nothing in my way, I'll get there one day,
[As Chad makes more noises, Ethan and Norm watch from a tree in the distance, before both of them exchange an understanding nod. Next to them lies an empty poison bottle.]
Cause I wanna be famous!
[In the dining tent, Chef and Luna are conversing rather calmly, before a strike of lightning crashes down on the tent. Chef runs out, but Luna appears unfazed by it, instead calmly glancing upward.]
Na na, na na na na, na na na na, na na na na na na!
[The camera moves to the dock, where Luna appears out of nowhere, spooking Paul and Kayla. The two glare at her, the former giving up on caring much faster than the latter.]
I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous! I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous!
[The camera drops down to the mines, where Kara is lurking, and she presses a button that launches out a ball of fire. The fire reveals some sort of odd structure inside the mine, bursting into a big glow that transitions to the fire.]
I wanna be famous *whistling*
[Everyone is circled up at the fire. In the middle of all of it, Jonathan leans in toward Madison, who jumps backward, accidentally landing in Ethan's lap, where she is even more freaked out. Above them is the sign that reads 'Total Drama Karon Island'.]
Outside the back of the giant hotel, there was a pool where everyone was hanging out at the time. Some were lounging around the side in a chair, others in some hammocks that had been set up. Others were by the food area, where they could order anything their heart desired. But, one person in particular had a lot of control over the pool. Sarah was furiously swimming back and forth, causing a commotion almost everywhere she was. On a flip turn, she splashed some water our of the pool, hitting a nearby Kayla, who was relaxing in a pink bikini. "Could you cut that out?" The brat shouted, "some of us want to mourn in our own failures!"
Sarah, who was sporting the dark blue one-piece she always had on underneath her clothes, popped out of the water. "Sorry! That was a really bad turn! If I had better form, there wouldn't be nearly as large a splash." Sarah noticed the camera and waved to it. "Ooh, is this a loser check-in?" She grinned. "That's awesome! If I knew that this place had a proper pool to practice in, I would have gotten voted off first!"
"Speak for yourself," the brat complained. She glanced at the camera with a bored expression. "I got taken out so a debt could be repaid, how is that fair? Maybe I should be flattered, I should think of this as more of being a threat to Paul than anything else." She sighed. "As nice as this place is, it sucks to lose. I wonder how people like her have been handling it..." she glanced over to Gretchen who was happily swimming in her regular outfit, her mismatched black clothing getting very wet.
Gretchen splashed around in the small area that Sarah wasn't occupying for her practice. "This place is amazing!" she told the camera. "I don't really get why they picked me, but that's okay! I like this place a lot, and every day we get a new friend!" Nearby, the klutz's childlike innocence made the brat gag. Suddenly, a honk was heard by the entrance to the resort. "Oh, a new friend is here now!" Gretchen said excitedly.
Everyone got up at the sound of the boat. Someone new was arriving at the island. Things got way more tense. "I don't think anyone on a boat is going to be a friend," Norm pointed out to the klutz. "No matter who you are, losing at fifth place is brutal." Once it got into sight, there was a chill in the air as they saw who it was. "No way..." the antisocial genius said slowly.
Jonathan had a giant scowl on his face as the boat dropped him off at the resort. Everyone was in stunned silence as they stared at him. "What are you all looking at?" he asked them bitterly. On cue, Madison let out a small squeak before disappearing into the hotel. Sarah let out an exhausted sigh as she went to go chase down the hopeless introvert. "I'm here now, get over it."
"You definitely earned this, weirdo," Alexa sneered from a while away. The underachiever was relaxing in a black two-piece in a hammock, an extremely photogenic aura emanating from her as she relaxed. She hadn't even bothered to get up to deal with the commotion. "I mean, you are technically the reason I'm gone, and I'm holding you to that, not Ethan."
Juan nodded, the Spaniard relaxing in a lounge chair in a light blue speedo. He had been sunbathing all day evidently. "Agreed. I don't fault Angie or Ethan for what they did. All the stuff we watched once we got here shows that you were the reason we were gone." He let out a chuckle. "Only ones who are really in the right to be mad at Ethan are Daniel and Chad, and they're as chipper as ever." Just then, Juan realized his comment alerted someone else. Hannah's eyes widened with joy upon seeing Juan, who let out an exhausted breath. "I have to run away now," he told the camera.
Jonathan sneered, "Well, I don't need to hear this from any of you," he said with a bitter tone as he finally stepped off the boat. Out of fear, everyone had gotten out of his way as he marched into the hotel room. "I don't deserve this," the brutal lover said with venom in his voice. "I played the game just like Ethan did, but I'm the villain? He manipulated Bunnies and Hens like they were nothing! I, at worst, hurt one person. Him."
Hannah was still running around in a grey one-piece and black flip flops with bright blue shades on her face. "Juany-Swanny and I have really been getting along since we both got eliminated," she told the camera delusionally. "He likes to play it off like he doesn't care or he is being hard to get, but I can see through it!" She turned from the camera to see that Juan had successfully disappeared. "Oh no, I need to find him! Gotta go!" Hannah bolted off in pursuit of her crush.
Down by the beach, a cross-former-team volleyball game was in the works. Chad was playing solo against Helio and Daniel. The alpha served a perfect shot over to the other side. Daniel rushed for it and successfully got a bump, Helio set it way too high though, and Daniel missed it as it came down for the spike. "Another perfect Chad shot, broskis!" The alpha cheered, doing an odd victory dance as he celebrated another point.
Daniel sighed as he picked up the ball. "Helio, he's embarrassing us, I can't believe a dude that skilled got booted so early!" Daniel noticed the camera. "I was an unfortunate loss," he admitted. "I really wanted to do better, and I thought I would, like, eleventh or tenth, something in the middle, but I went early since Kayla got super angry and dicey with the guys." He turned to look at Helio. "Luckily he did way better than me."
"All me friends here," Helio explained to the camera. He took the volleyball from Daniel and served it with blinding speed over the net. Chad raced around for it, but missed it instantly. "Me wanted do better, but no happen." He had a slightly disappointed face. "Farm sad, but me happy with friends." He turned to Chad. "More spikey ball."
Chad smirked with excitement. "Whatever you want, broski!" Chad went for a serve on the two former Bunnies, and this time, Helio missed the serve as well. "Another point for the Chad!" Chad then noticed the camera too, clearing his throat. "I mean...well, second out was not what I wanted, nor what I was expecting." He laughed. "Tried to cheer people up, but I sort of forgot my team leader was Angie. I'm rooting for her anyway, though."
Nearby, three much less athletic people were watching the game on a nearby rock. Flora was the first of the three to notice the camera. She was in the middle of giving Luna a shoulder massage. "Things didn't quite turn out how I expected," the pacifist admitted. "I hoped I could do better, but at least I served my team well in the time we needed a leader." She smiled. "I'm happy for Paul, too. He's doing really well, better than I could have. I don't regret my decision to drop out in his place."
"I still find it absurd," Sheldon pointed out to the peaceful girl. "Not just your dramatic self-sacrifice, which I found idiotic at best. I am referring of course to my untimely demise at the hands of that wretch Kayla, who snuffed me out of a clear victory. I am hoping personally that Paul wins too, however, since he hated Kayla the most. Ethan would be a nice alternative, as he was the individual who sent her here."
Luna scoffed. "Speak for yourselves, I was thrusted out of that game! Everyone took any semblance of happiness and ripped it from me." Her over tone was still as bad as she seemed at the end of her fear trial. "It doesn't matter. I'm sensing another opportunity at another time. I'll show them what it's like to have everything ripped to shreds eventually..." Flora removed her hands from the psychic's shoulders. "Don't stop, that felt good," Luna insisted.
The psychic sighed. "But, out of the four, I suppose I want Angie to win. She's the only one who didn't wrong me at any point. In fact, she seemed to dislike Norm even, which makes things better!" She laughed. "I'll make him pay too, everyone will see!" Sheldon put a hand to his face, ashamed at the way Luna was acting. "I'll show them misery when the time comes!"
Meanwhile, Norm was watching that interaction, and gestured for the cameras to approach him. "Sorry about her," he admitted. "Things have not been tame the past day with her here. Something about losing everything. That fear trial changed her, and I suppose I'm to blame too." He sighed. "Let's go find Madison, since I assume you haven't caught her yet. She hides in her room for like, half the day. Some people talk to her, like Sarah and even Gretchen a bit, but she still hasn't totally warmed up to everyone else yet."
Norm continued walking toward the resort. "Me? Well, I honestly did better than I thought I would. Taking the hit for Ethan wasn't how I wanted to go, but it's how I did, so there's no getting around that. I still want him to win, and I'm glad Kara's there to rope him in a bit too. Maybe I pushed him further than he needed to go." He chuckled. "Wow, I was the cause of a lot of trouble, I guess."
Eventually, they reached the room. Norm knocked on the door, which was answered by a sudden shriek. The antisocial genius sighed and walked away from the cameras, having done his job. Madison cracked the door so only part of her face was visible. "W-who's there? I don't want any trouble!" After some pleading, the hopeless introvert opened the door. "Oh, it's you all," she told the camera crew.
Madison sighed. "I guess I failed," she admitted. "My initial strategy was to lay low until people just didn't realize I made it super far, but then the whole Jonathan thing happened. I met Ethan, and that was amazing, but it's been so long, does he remember me? What if he hates me again? Who's going to protect me now that Jonathan's here?" Her head started racing with questions before she eventually calmed down again.
"I want him to win," she admitted. "Ethan has what it takes, and if he got Jonathan out, he can get the others out too. I got to see him start making amends with people he manipulated, and his apologies looked really sincere. But, not everyone here is exactly ready to forgive." She shuddered. "With all the extra camera crews, I'm worried we're going to have to do something today." She paused. "I-I've been talking for a while, haven't I? I'm sorry!" Without another word, Madison slammed the door shut, nothing but silence coming from it after.
Back outside, Randall and Juan were playing frisbee near the pool deck. Nearby, Alexa was watching the two of them in a black one-piece, barely awake as she did. "This place is incredible," the underachiever said with a grin. "The final four are so out of luck." She sighed. "But, I guess it would be nice to be there too. If I had to pick, I want Kara to win. She was the nicest to me out of everyone left."
Randall, who had on olive green swim trunks, hurled a frisbee over to Juan, who caught it gracefully and threw it back. The mountain man noticed the camera as well. "Yeah, I can't say I did that great," he admitted. "I wanted to do better, really. I think Paul and I got off on the wrong foot at the beginning when I sided with Kara over Sheldon. I really hope Paul can win it." Just then, Hannah appeared out of nowhere, startling Juan. The Spaniard sighed and ran off, trying to avoid the social media freak again. "And...there goes my frisbee partner."
Randall looked around to see if anyone was nearby, when he noticed Alexa. "So, do you just naturally look like you're ready for a photo shoot at all times?" he asked her jokingly. "I get that's sort of your thing, but its unnerving when you are just...like that."
Alexa opened her eyes upon hearing Randall. "Huh? Yeah, being photogenic is sort of my thing. I can't turn that off, I just do it." She laughed. "Heard you tell them that you wanted Paul to win. That's gonna make us enemies in whatever is coming up." Randall looked confused. "Come on, I mean, obviously the major change in camera numbers makes it clear that we're doing something today."
The mountain man peered around to see the cameras all over the place. "You're right..." he muttered, "on top of that, I was napping in a tree earlier, and I saw another boat or two. Maybe Chris or Chef is here as well." He failed to notice Alexa perk up at the fact he was asleep in a tree. "Well, I'm off to go rescue Juan, you know he's going to need it." He laughed as he gave the underachiever a wave and left.
Alexa watched him go and let out a dejected sigh. "Wow, he's oblivious," she said in a defeated tone. She caught sight of the camera still on her. "What? You heard me in the truth challenge, I think he's neat. But, it wouldn't work...he's more motivated at life than I am. Maybe I'll have the chance at some point...I don't know. I promise I'm not that lazy, really." She then noticed a group of people swarming toward the pool area. "Oh, that must be the episode. I guess it's here."
Everyone left was gathered to watch the latest episode now. "This ought to be good," Norm commented. "I really want to see how Jonathan goes down." Jonathan growled at the antisocial genius, but Norm held a smirk at him the whole time, now that there was nothing he could do. The recap from before began. "Huh, just Chef, I guess Chris is coming here then, just like we thought."
Sheldon sighed as he watched Jonathan and Paul discuss strategy, as well as Kara and Angie. "This is so infuriating," Sheldon admitted. "The obvious choice is to eliminate Ethan, I wish Paul would not be so reckless." He pulled out his chart. "I might have to adjust that in my final four angle." He turned to Jonathan. "By the way, I guessed you right as well, which puts me at eleven correct predictions since I've arrived. I switched Flora and Helio..." the obnoxious nerd looked upset at his previous failed guess.
The challenge had kicked off, right after Chef had revealed to the cast that the Disaster Dome was in fact real. "Wait a second..." Gretchen asked, "I don't remember seeing any storms." Her eyes lit up. "Oh my gosh, that thunderstorm was fake?" Everyone rolled the eyes as the klutz finally got back on their page. "Sorry, I totally missed that...haha...go, Angie!"
They all watched as Ethan and Jonathan faced off against Quaoar, followed by the betrayal Jonathan pulled as he advanced further in the challenge. "Are you serious?" Sarah asked the brutal lover with an annoyed tone, "he saved you and you still had the nerve to do that? I hope you get what's coming to you." Her eyes lit up. "Wait, you're here, that means you do!"
Jonathan stared at the Quaoar scene. It wasn't quite how he remembered it, but no one seemed to mention anything at the time. Madison herself looked a little thrown off, but she seemed to ignore it. They made it to the end of the challenge, where Angie, Paul, and Jonathan teamed up to stop Chef. "This game changes drastically based on who gets immunity here," Juan noted. "But, seeing as Jonathan's here, it must have been Paul, but he's in the worst spot to try."
They then all watched as Jonathan threw the challenge to stop Angie and let Paul win. Everyone was silent, as they turned to Jonathan, who looked away, embarrassed. "Hold on a second..." Norm said slowly, a smirk arising on his face. "You...threw your immunity away?" He laughed, as did a few other people. "How dumb are you? You had a chance to keep going and you literally threw it away!"
"It was a good decision in the moment to get his loyalty!" Jonathan shot back. "The plan was for him not to realize that it didn't matter whether or not he was immune, but it backfired on me. You should all thank me for trying! I was our last line of defense against Ethan winning all of it! None of you would have done something like that!"
Kayla scoffed. "Yeah, because none of us wanted to throw away an immunity!" That got a couple more laughs. Jonathan looked dejected at the brat's remark. They all watched the end. "Wait...are we picking who goes home then?" She glanced around. "Where's Chris?"
Chris then walked out of the resort over to the losers. "Right here!" he announced. "While you won't be voting out someone as a group, you will all be competing in a small challenge to be the one who decides who goes home next." Everyone gasped. "That's right, and your choice is final, you'll see that person later tonight!" Everyone had a mixture of nerves and excitement.
Chris brought up a map of the resort. "Here's how this is going to work," he explained. "The sixteen of you are going to pair up and answer some trivia questions on the show that we are nearly finished with! Hope you remember current events!" Some people looked excited, while others seemed a bit more concerned now. "We're going to break into eight pairs of two, and I'm deciding these pairs based on the funniest ones I can think of."
Chris began creating pairings. "Let's start with some easy ones. Madison...you're with Norm!" Madison seemed to glance oddly at the antisocial genius, who also did not appreciate that pairing. "Pair two will be...Juan and Hannah!" Hannah looked ecstatic by that pairing, while Juan simply sighed and accepted defeat as the social media freak pounced on him. "Kayla, you're going to be paired up with...Sheldon!" Neither the brat nor the obnoxious nerd looked pleased.
"Sarah, you're going to be paired up with...Jonathan!" The swimmer visibly gagged at that pairing, while the brutal lover looked equally unhappy with the result. "Randall, I'm pairing you with Alexa!" Randall seemed relatively unfazed by that decision, while Alexa merely sighed and rolled her eyes. "Luna, I am pairing you up with...Flora!" The psychic gave the pacifist an uneasy glance, while Flora only looked concerned for Luna.
"The leaves Helio, you're going to be with Daniel." The strongman gave a high-five to Daniel, but the exceptionally average was knocked back by it like crazy. "Finally, that leaves our first two losers, Chad and Gretchen." Chad looked a bit concerned with the klutz, but Gretchen looked happy to be on a pair with someone finally. "This will be tournament style, best of three! First up, Sarah and Jonathan versus Helio and Daniel!"
The two pairs each stood opposite to Chris. "Question one. Who out of the twenty campers did not believe that the dynamite Chef was using to split up the teams was real?" Sarah had already checked out, seeming to not have any intention on helping Jonathan. Meanwhile, the brutal lover scrambled for an answer. He hadn't been here long enough to watch the older episodes.
Eventually, Daniel rang in. "It's Sheldon," he said. Chris nodded, putting him and Helio up a point to the Hen pair. "Awesome!" the exceptionally average cheered, happy to finally have gotten one.
Chris read out the next question. "Question two. In the first paintball challenge, Paul devised a strategy with Flora to peacefully disarm one of the Hens who got abandoned by their partner. Name the Hen who was abandoned." The Bunnies looked stumped by this one.
Jonathan was able to ring in on that one. "It was Hannah who was abandoned by Juan." The points were now even at one a piece. Jonathan bitterly turned to Sarah. "I get that we might not have the same idea on who we want gone, but it couldn't hurt you to at least pretend to want to win." Sarah rolled her eyes at Jonathan as she went back to staring at the pool again.
Chris cleared his throat to get them back on track. "Question three, and this is to see which of you two teams is moving onto the semi-finals. In the Aqua-stacle course, we learned about one of the final four's worst fear. You need to name not only that contestant, but name their fear as well."
Daniel tried to ring in once he had it, but Jonathan was just barely faster. "It was heights..." Jonathan remembered, "and that was Kara!" Chris put their score up to two points. "That's a win," Jonathan said with a smirk. "That means just two more wins and I eliminate Ethan. I was there the longest, so I know the most!"
"Next up," Chris announced, "I want Kayla and Sheldon versus Chad and Gretchen!" The two Hen early boots nervously went to where Jonathan and Sarah were, while Kayla dragged Sheldon out to the Bunnies' spot. "Question one. In the truth challenge, we had Paul explain his situation on his sports team back home. Recall it for me."
Kayla let out a giant laugh as she rang in before anyone else had a chance to. "That's so funny I got that one," the brat said with a smirk on her face. "Paul claims to be the third best quarterback in his athletic conference, but is also the third best at his school, which means he's totally worthless as a player!" To the side, Flora let out a sigh as she watched Kayla enjoy that question too much.
"That's right," Chris announced, "you two are at one point now. That brings us to next question. Someone intentionally sabotaged one of their teammates in the balance portion of the balance episode. Name who got thrown off by who."
Things were silent for a while. Sheldon tried to take the ringer away from Kayla, but the brat wasn't letting him. "Let me have it!" Sheldon demanded. Eventually, the Kayla got bored and gave up, letting Sheldon take the buzzer. "In that challenge, Juan got himself launched off of the platform, and then took Sarah down with him to ensure they did not receive an advantage in the subsequent portion."
"Pencil gets the point!" Chris announced. "That puts Kayla and Sheldon in the next round against Jonathan and Sarah! Next up, let's have...Norm and Madison versus...Alexa and Randall!" Norm sighed as he stood up to go take the place of the two Hens who had just lost rather horridly, while Madison slowly followed behind. Randall got up excitedly while Alexa also dragged behind a bit.
Madison continued to give Norm an odd look, which the genius was putting off. "Let's do this," Chris said. "Question one for the four of you...in our 'spot the difference' challenge, two members of the cast were missing and did not complete it in time. Name both of the people and their locations they were at."
Norm instantly rang in. "Madison had been in her bed still recovering from the trauma Jonathan had put her through the day before." Everyone glared at Jonathan as they were reminded of that action. "Kara had ran off to follow Chef into acid rain and try and figure out what was up with the Disaster Dome."
"Nice," Chris announced. "That puts them at one point. Bunnies, you might need some help." Chris went to his next card. "In the elemental battle challenge, name two of the Bunnies that were given support powers instead of damaging ones."
Norm tried ringing in for this one too, but was cut off by Alexa. "Flora was given healing," the underachiever stated, "and unfortunately, I was also given a support power of sleep powder that didn't affect myself. What a waste."
Chris nodded, "that's two of them, and Luna's power that challenge would have been an acceptable response as well. Alright, you each have a point, winner of this one wins the round. Question three. In the swimming challenge, one player who had not lead a challenge before tried to take charge, and it backfired immensely. Name that player."
Norm rang in just before Alexa could. "That was our team, and Sarah took the fall that day. I'm sure she would have been a fine leader, but Jonathan had picked her that day, so there really wasn't anything we could do." The final point went up for them. "And that's a win for us." Madison did not look as excited to be moving on.
"Next up," Chris announced, "I need our two pairs who haven't gone yet, that would be Juan and Hannah versus Flora and Luna." Both pairs got up. Juan looked annoyed to have to work with Hannah, while Flora cautiously watched Luna's actions. "Question one for you, in the paintball territory scuffle, Helio faced off and tied with which Hen?"
Juan and Hannah both seemed clueless at this one. Meanwhile, Luna was about to answer, but Flora rang in first. "Helio went against Ethan, resulting in both of them being out." Their score went up a point. "Luna," Flora said to the psychic, "I need you to not cheat with this, it isn't right." Luna looked ready to refuse already, the pacifist could tell it was fruitless. "Fine," Flora said in defeat, "but you have to let me pick the person if we win."
Luna looked like she was in agreement with that deal, shaking the pacifist's hand. "Question two," Chris continued. "In the mine challenge, Angie thought she had figured out who the rat was on the Hens. Identify who Angie accused of being the one who was causing the odd eliminations."
Juan's eyes lit up, but he couldn't beat Luna's insane reflexes. "It was Juan," Luna said firmly. Chris nodded, and the girls had earned their second point. "That's another round for us," Luna told Flora. "You should think about your choice. I'd suggest Kara, but I doubt you'd follow that through, so let's just agree on Paul."
"You know I will not be picking Paul under any circumstances," the pacifist said defiantly. "I want you to know that I actually have made my choice already in the event of a win, and you're not going to be able to deter that from me."
Meanwhile, the four winning pairs were waiting around to go again. Jonathan had a scowl on his face as Sarah blatantly ignored him, and Sheldon and Kayla were already bickering with each other again. Meanwhile, Madison still seemed to be giving Norm odd glances. Norm conceded eventually. "Okay, what's your deal?" he asked her. Madison didn't look scared, but rather disappointed.
"Is...is this because I contributed to your elimination?" Norm figured out. Madison nodded. "Look, I didn't mean it personally, you know that. Plus, we both want the same person to win. Can you help me out here and make sure that Jonathan specifically doesn't win?" Madison thought about it for a bit, before nodding slowly. She said nothing, but the odd looks started going away. "Thank you, and I really meant that I'm sorry."
"Alright, enough chatter," Chris called out, "I have to be back on Karon Island by tonight, so you all better hurry these up! I need Jonathan and Sarah versus Kayla and Sheldon!" The first two winning pairs got ready to face off. "Your first question is...in the mountain climbing challenge, who constructed the bungee that eventually led to Kayla's grand fall down the mountain?"
Kayla gasped at the question, but that was just enough time for Jonathan to ring in instead, much to Sheldon's dismay. "That was Norm," he said confidently, "and I know that for a fact because I was the one who ordered him to do it!" Kayla glared at the brutal lover, who nervously waved back. A point went on the board for the Hen pair.
Sarah groaned as she watched Jonathan succeed a lot. "That's correct!" Chris told them. "Next question, in the paintball battle royale challenge, who was the fourth person to get immunity?"
Kayla and Jonathan both began counting, since neither of them made it that far in the challenge and had gotten immunity prior to that. Sheldon was trying to ring in and took the ringer from Kayla, who swiped it back, as the two began to argue again. This gave Jonathan his opening. "That would be Paul," Jonathan answered, much less sure about his response this time.
Still, a point went on the board for the Hen duo. "Jonathan drags Sarah to the final round!" Chris told everyone, much to the swimmer's chagrin. "Kayla, you might want to stop flirting with Sheldon next time you have an elimination to pick." The brat looked furious at Chris's joke and stormed off. "Well, that was cute. Anyway, I need Madison and Norm, and I need Flora and Luna!" The two pairs got into position. "Question one, in the food challenge, in the log grabbing round, who was given a spider?"
Norm managed to ring in first. Luna let out what was almost a shriek, while Norm simply smirked at the psychic. "It was Jonathan," Norm explained, "because that spider is the reason I was voted off." A point went onto the board.
"That's right," Chris responded. "Flora, please try and keep your teammate in check." Flora merely held onto Luna to try and comfort her a bit. "Great, question two, in the firefly challenge, who was one of the only ones to successfully evade Chef and Quaoar and get immunity by putting their jar on the table?"
Luna pounced on the question this time, her eyes bright green. "It was Angie," Luna said boldly. "It would have been me too, but Kara abandoned me and I was somehow...stopped, by Quaoar." She shuddered as she relived that experience.
Chris smirked. "That's right," he said with a laugh. "Oh, Luna, always so fun to torment. Anyway, speaking of torment, let's break this tie with a question from the fear trials!" He snickered. "What was the name of the person in Luna's fear trial who she was friends with?"
Luna seemed to lose all hope to ring in, but Flora luckily grabbed it in her place. "It was Casey," the pacifist said solemnly. Chris nodded, and the two Bunny girls had beaten Madison and Norm. The antisocial genius let out a defeated sigh as Madison looked more relieved than anything to be out of the spotlight now.
"Great, nice work, you two," Chris acknowledged. "That means that we're down to the final round. Jonathan, Sarah, you're up against Luna and Flora for a decision on who gets to send someone home!" Jonathan dragged Sarah back up for the final round. "How about some very current events? In the landslide challenge, name the order from top of the mountain to bottom of the mountain at the end of the challenge."
Luna's eyes lit up again, and the psychic rang in. "It was..." she appeared to be hunting for the answer as she spoke. "Paul, then Angie, then Jonathan, then Kara...then Ethan." A point went onto the board for the two girls.
Chris nodded. "Nice job, and a question a bit more recent. In the trivia challenge for the losers, which two members of a pair fought over the ringer the most? Name both members and their former team."
Jonathan had the answer, and tried to ring in, but Luna was still faster. The brutal lover gasped at the impending loss. "That was...Kayla...and Sheldon...of the...Bouncing Bunnies." Another point went onto the board, and Jonathan let a yell out at his loss, while Sarah snickered. Luna held her head. "That's enough mind reading for the day..." she said groggily. Luna turned to Flora. "You can pick, I need to lay down." Luna went to a nearby chair and threw an ice pack on her head as she watched Flora make a choice.
"Luna carries for the Bunnies again," Chris called out, and that means that the Luna-Flora pairing has a choice to make on who they want to send home!" Everyone watched as Luna recovered. "Well, one of them gets to pick, at least." Chris turned to Flora. "Flora, master of never voting, princess of peace, power of flowers, it's time for you to decide who you want to eliminate."
Flora watched all the eyes land on her. "That's such a daunting responsibility," the pacifist admitted. "Well, I think everyone played a good game, I'm sorry it couldn't have been a bit more fair." She sighed. "I really do not feel like this is my decision to make," she admitted. "I think the final four should be able to do their best and try their hardest to win." She nodded. "So, I have my decision..."
ELIMINATION XVII, MERGE
The final four all sat at the fire, with no one else there yet. "They're probably voting right now," Paul pointed out to the other three. "I really hope they make a good decision, and I really don't want to be the one who gets sent home today."
"Who's to say it's a vote?" Ethan pointed out. "Chef seemed very specific in his wording, and he said they'd have the opportunity to choose...that doesn't exactly mean a vote." He sighed. "Maybe I'm just coping. To be honest, Jonathan being there scares me, not just for Madison's safety, but because I also am his prime target, and it'd be...poetic to go down because of him after besting him yesterday."
Everyone then turned their eyes to Chris and Chef. The cook looked stoic as ever, while Chris seemed very up in arms about something. "Can you believe that girl?" Chris complained to Chef, who shrugged. "Yeah, I get that was her thing, but we have to make another challenge now!" Everyone looked interested in what Chris had just said. "Hello, final four," Chris greeted them. "Good to see you all again after my absence. Hate that you booted Jonathan, that was my perfect ratings tool." He sighed. "Whatever, to business."
Chris pulled up the bracket from the trivia challenge. "I split your eliminated teams into the funniest pairings I had found, and gave the winner of a trivia-based challenge the choice of who they wanted to vote off." Ethan looked nervous that Jonathan and Sarah made the final round. "Of course, Flora ended up the one picking, which meant she did...what Flora does best." Chris groaned. "She picked no one! That throws off, like, everything!" He groaned. "But, the show must go on, so tomorrow, business as usual, one of you goes on that launchpad."
"That's all I got," Chris admitted to them. "Go, get some sleep or whatever, Chef and I have a new challenge to make." Chris sighed and turned to the camera. "Well, after a very eventful day, we had a very uneventful finish. We started with four, and we ended with four. That won't be the case tomorrow! Find out who goes down next time, on Total! Drama! Karon Island!"

Our loser check-in is officially complete! This one had some adjusting to do, but it was mainly adding more substance to the previously shortest entry in Karon Island. Let's go over some changes!
- Some more screen time with everyone. Just overall more flowing of a chapter too, similar to the first season where this happened, things progress through the interviews and the conversations.
- I added an Alexa/Randall scene to properly set them up for next season
- In the episode recap, Quaoar is not mentioned except in a thought from Jonathan, just to damage control the mess I did with it last chapter.
- The trivia challenge! This was in place of a forced unanimous vote, so that the one in the far, far future has some more substance to it. I still gave Flora the decision like she had in the previous iteration, but it made much more sense here as Flora is a non-voter.
That's really it, I don't have a lot to say on this one. Fixing the Quaoar plot will be odd for the final three episodes, but I'm stoked that I'm this close to the end! Let me know what you thought of this week in the reviews! I will see you next time!
