A/N: Hello, readers!
Yes, I decided to rewrite this book and make it a Sting Eucliffe x Male! OC. The Lyon version is still on my Wattpad. My username is TheWhiteRabbit24 if you want to check it out.
I just think the MC being Gray's younger brother instead of twin and him not being a Dragon Slayer will make more sense. Since you know, Gray's not 400 years old. There was a lot of plot holes with that idea as people on Wattpad have pointed it out to me.
Enjoy!
CHAPTER ONE: YEARS GONE BY
Port Haregon, X784...
A twelve-year-old Samuel Fullbuster rushed to the port where the boat was leaving for Tenrou Island. "Nii-san!" He called out, getting a certain Ice Mage's attention. Gray kneels down, wrapping his arms around his younger brother.
"I'm gonna miss you!" Samuel cried out, hugging him tightly.
"It'll only be a few weeks, Sam." Gray chuckled. "When I come back, I'll be S-Class."
"You promise?"
"Promise."
"Will you teach me Magic, too?"
"...Maybe." Gray responded as Samuel's face brightened up before hugging his brother one last time. He heard Juvia in the background saying something along the lines of, 'Gray-sama is so good with little kids.'
Soon enough, the boat was ready to go.
Samuel ran on the dock before stopping at the edge. "Goodbye, everyone! See you soon!" He shouted while waving them off.
What Samuel didn't know then, was that it would be seven long years until he saw his older brother and the rest of his family again.
December 16th, X784...
"What do you mean it's gone?!"
Samuel flinched at Macao's loud voice, causing him to pause the book he was reading to look over and see Doranbolt and Lahar at the guild entrance.
"The island was completely anniliated by Acnologia. There are no survivors." Lahar replied. "We're sorry."
Samuel grits his teeth, not believing what he was hearing. He stands up from the table, storming to the two Magic Council members. "You're sorry? That's all you have to say?!" He yelled.
"Hey, Samuel!" Macao warned.
"You guys are the Magic Council! What use are you if you couldn't even get them off the island in time?! It's not even Acnologia's fault they're dead. It's yours." Samuel seethed.
He storms out of the guild hall, ignoring Macao shouting at him. Doranbolt watched the young boy go with guilt in his eyes.
Samuel walks through the streets of Magnolia before finally collapsing on his knees.
"Don't go... Don't leave me... Nii-san..." Samuel sobbed as tears fell from his eyes and landing on the ground.
"Everyone, come back!" He shouted to the sky.
X785...
It had been a year since Samuel received the news about Tenrou Island being wiped out. Since then, Samuel had been distant with everyone in the guild. Though, they fully understood. Out of all of them, the ones who were affected the most were Romeo and Samuel — the two youngest members in the guild.
Now, a thirteen-year-old Samuel was standing in front of Lyon, his older brother's rival.
"Lyon-san!" Samuel bowed. "Please teach me Ice-Make Magic!"
This takes Lyon by surprise. "Samuel, I'm not really sure I should—"
"Please!" Samuel pleaded. "I... I want to learn my Nii-san's Magic! You're the only one who can teach me!"
Lyon sighed. "All right, I'll teach you. We'll start tomorrow." He said.
Samuel smiled as he straightened up.
He was going to get stronger for his older brother.
X788...
It was hot.
A sixteen-year-old Samuel was walking through an active volcano for one of his job requests. He had to retrieve a rare gem for a client. If it was sent to a guild, it would be considered an S-Class quest.
It had been four years since Fairy Tail's most powerful mages disappeared on Tenrou Island. Without these mages, the guild was in debt. Any jewels they got went to paying off those Twilight Ogre bastards or alcohol. It was safe to say Macao, the fourth guild master, didn't budget their money very well.
And since Fairy Tail went downhill, not many great requests came to them, with clients prefering to take their work to more powerful guilds. So Samuel had to resort to wizard pubs for better jobs.
He refused to give up on Fairy Tail. It was his home. He felt like he was the only one who worked his ass off trying to keep the guild together.
That, and Samuel had to support himself too. He needed money not only for the guild, but to pay rent on his and Gray's apartment. As well as the rent in Fairy Hills. Which was a little more than the rent for his and Gray's place.
He even tried his best to keep up with the rent for Lucy's apartment as well.
Samuel wanted to make sure they had homes to come back to. If they ever return.
Samuel continued climbing up the volcano, trying to ignore the heat that the lava was giving off from below. One wrong misstep and he'll turn to ash.
He pants before taking a breather. He was sweating and his vision was getting blurry. Samuel felt himself stumble before falling towards the ground.
The last thing he saw were arms catching him before he collapsed.
Samuel groaned as he blinked. He sat up, realizing he was in a room. "I must be in someone's hotel room... But who's?" He wondered.
"Oh, good. You're awake."
Samuel looked at the sound of the voice, seeing a boy around the same age as him with spiky blonde hair which was kept in strands jutting outwards in every direction, and a smaller, frontal cowlick (or tuft) of hair partially hanging over his head. He had slanted, slit pupiled, dark blue eyes; above the right one was a thin, diagonal scar. His left ear was adorned with an earring which, in itself, is attached to by a prominent metal pendant that is crystalline in shape. He also possessed distinctively sharp canine teeth.
"So he's a Dragon Slayer like Natsu-san, Gajeel-san, and Wendy." Samuel thought. "He's pretty cute."
Then, Samuel glanced over at his left shoulder, seeing a white Sabertooth guild mark. He scoffed.
"I'm dismissing that last thought. He's from that guild."
Sabertooth was a powerful guild that easily took the spot as number one in Fiore, due to the 'Grand Magic Games' that were held every year. Fairy Tail had also participated, but always came dead last. Samuel always tried his best to get points for them.
Samuel knew that if Natsu, Gray, and the others were around, they could easily knock the other guilds down. Fairy Tail wouldn't be a joke to everyone.
"Where am I?" Samuel questioned.
"My hotel room. I was doing that volcano job request when I saw you passed out. It seems that old man sent that request twice. Though I didn't expect him to hire a Fairy." Sting sneered.
"How did he know? My guild mark is clearly—" Samuel looks down to see he was shirtless. "Of course."
"The request wasn't sent to Fairy Tail. I found it at a wizard pub in Onibus." Samuel explained. "Wait. If you were also doing the request then that means—"
"I retrieved the gem and the client gave me the reward money." Sting finished as Samuel groaned.
"Damn it. I really could've used that amount of jewel for the guild..." He muttered.
"Tell you what. I'll give you half of the money. I don't need it all." Sting said.
Samuel snorts. "What's the catch, Eucliffe?"
"So you do know of me. And there's no catch."
"You expect me to believe you're doing it out of the kindness of your heart?"
Sting smirks. "You're right." He leans forward and grabs Samuel by his chin. "You know, you're not that bad-looking. What do you say? I get to have my fun with no strings attached, obviously. And you get money to help that pathetic guild of yours."
Samuel scoffed. "He wants me to sell myself?" He then thinks about it for a moment. "Well, Sabertooth is the most powerful guild. They most likely get good job requests. Why am I even considering it?!"
"But if it's to help the others at the guild and rent..."
Samuel sighed. "Fine you got yourself a deal." He agreed.
"Master, I got some jewel to pay off Twilight Ogre for this month."
Macao looks towards Samuel, who was carrying a pouch. He opens the bag, counting the jewel and seeing it was exactly the amount needed. "Where did you get this? I know the jobs you're going on isn't paying enough." Macao said.
"Don't worry about how I'm getting it." Samuel answered.
"Oi, Samuel. Don't tell me you're—"
"I'm not doing anything illegal if that's what you were going to ask." Samuel cuts Macao off. "And for all that is holy, don't use that money on alcohol."
Samuel soon leaves the guild as the others watched him leave. "His personality has sure changed over the years. I remember him being an excited kid all the time." Jet commented.
"I don't blame him." Max said.
Macao sighs to himself. "Both Samuel and Romeo rarely smile anymore. It just goes to show how Tenrou team's disappearance greatly affected those two." He thought.
X790 Grand Magic Games...
"Karma of the Burning Land!"
Samuel gets attacked by lava as he flew up in the air. The sky turned back to normal as Samuel crashed to the ground, severely injured.
"Samuel!" Alzack called out in worry as he was on Fairy Tail's team along with Bisca, Jet, and Max.
"Samuel put up a good fight, but unfortunately, he's down! The winner of the match is Rufus Lore from Sabertooth!" The commentator, Chapati, announced as the audience cheered.
In the infirmary, Samuel was being treated for his injuries. "Sorry, everyone." He apologized.
"You have nothing to apologize for. It was a cheap trick. He knew you'd be affected by flames, so he used that." Alzack reassured.
His teammates soon left, and a little while later, Sting entered.
"Hey, Sam." He greeted. "How are you feeling?"
"My whole body still feels like it's burning. That's a damn powerful spell your guildmate has. I'm most likely going to be out for the rest of the tournament, so Droy-san will be taking my place." Samuel responded.
Sting frowned in guilt before kissing the top of his head and leaving the infirmary as he heard footsteps coming their way. He needed to leave before one of Samuel's guildmates caught him.
Samuel heard the door open one more time as Macao entered, followed by a twelve-year-old Romeo. "Hey, Master." He greeted.
"How are you holding up?" Macao asked.
"I'll be okay. That's all that matters. I'm out for the rest of the Games, however." Samuel replied, making Macao nod.
"You were so amazing, Samuel-nii!" Romeo exclaimed as his face was lit up.
Samuel chuckled, ruffling Romeo's hair. "If you call getting my ass kicked amazing, then sure." He said.
Romeo leaves the room as Macao turned to Samuel. "How are you doing actually? And I'm not just talking about the tournament." Macao said.
Samuel was silent for a moment before replying. "It's hard... I know if Nii-san and the others were still here, they wouldn't put up with us being laughed at and humiliated." He glanced down at the ground. "I miss them."
"We all do." Macao tells him.
"Nii-san... Everyone... I wish you would come back." Samuel thinks to himself.
However, he knew that was impossible. They were gone completely.
That is, until they miraculously return the following year...
A/N: Fair warning, Samuel's trauma thinking Gray was dead for seven years will play a huge part in this story. You'll see what I mean in future Arcs :)
This book will also be cross-posted on Quotev! So if you see the same book, it's me, don't worry.
Thanks for reading!
