Transformers Prime: A New Adventure.

Chapter 72: My brother Flatblade.

On the rooftop of the Autobot base, Dusksword was meditating to calm himself after the fight with Airachnid earlier that day.

Then, Arcee comes up behind him.

Arcee questions in concern, "Dusk... are you alright? Optimus wanted me to check on you."

Dusksword replies, "Yes, I am fine; I am just calming myself after the fight with Airachnid. It's no good carrying rage in oneself during and after a fight with an enemy."

Arcee sits next to Dusksword and says before asking, "You looked so calm when we were all fighting her. You didn't look mad at all. Why?"

Dusksword looks expressionless as he answers, "Truthfully, I was feeling my rage build up, but I kept calm about it. One of the most important rules of a Cyber-Ninja and other kinds of soldier is to keep a cool head even after a fight. And as I learned, even if we take schoolyard bullies on our respective planets out of the equation, you should never show your anger to an enemy; that just means that they'll likely goad you into fighting them or goad you into coming within range so they can kill you."

Arcee replies, "Yeah, I pretty much heard that from Master Yoketron during a training session I had with him 3 days ago."

Dusksword then says, "Now, Arcee, I know you're about to say that I shouldn't get involved in your feud with Airachnid, but what you planned to do not only risked the lives of the children and younglings, but it also happens to be something considered by both Primus and his Earth counterpart to be truly unforgiveable."

Arcee asks while keeping her cool, "You think I don't already know that?"

Dusksword replies before saying in an overly serious tone, "You tell me. Now, don't take this the wrong way, but from what I saw, you looked like you knew what you were doing while also not knowing it at the same time. I'm among the many to be just as concerned about protecting humans, techno-organics, metahumans, mutants, superhumans, and other forms of life we befriend or recruit as you are, but rushing headfirst into danger without a plan and without calculating your chances of success, failure, or coming out alive is not something to be made a habit out of because Airachnid and even Megatron can take advantage of that to kill you. Is that understood?"

Arcee sighs as she replies, "Understood."

Dusksword then looks up to the sky for up to twenty-five seconds before saying, "I hope that my brother Flatblade is alive."

Arcee inquires, "You think he is alive?"

Dusksword answers, "Yes. I feel a surrogate brother spark bond in my spark chamber thrumming in an ordinary pattern, meaning that he could still be alive. This is why tomorrow, I plan on searching sectors of the planet for him while taking time to refuel and recharge so that I don't burn myself out or crash. And if I am fortunate, I may be able to search for the rest of our neutral comrades if they are also here on Earth. If I am still fortunate, I can convince them to join the Autobot cause instead of continuing being Neutrals. I will notify Optimus myself so that he doesn't get worried, although I'm sure that he knows how to keep his emotions in check."

Arcee replies as she asks, "Would you like some help in searching for them?"

Dusksword answers, "Yes, it would be appreciated."

Dusksword walks to his quarters and enters them to recharge on his recharging table.

In Dusksword's dream, Primus shows up to check on his new champion's progress.

Primus questions, "Hello, child. How goes your mission progress?"

Dusksword answers, "Well, if you must know, it was plenty demanding. I joined the Autobots without much trouble, and yet, for my first mission, I had to help my new friends fight Airachnid."

Primus replies back, "Yes, the former Decepticon interrogator. She has performed unorthodox experiments and torture sessions on many Autobots during the War for Cybertron. And she did indeed torture your adopted brother Flatblade to search for you and your Neutral comrades. Exercise caution; she's not only dangerous because of her nature as a Triple Changer Arachnicon, but also because of it, she's a heavily skilled martial artist. I fear that sooner or later, she will return to finish the job if she ever sets her optics on you again."

Dusksword replies back, "Yes, I am aware. It won't be easy escaping alive a second time, and it won't be easy to deal with her, even if it means apprehending her or disabling her weapons permanently."

Primus narrows his optics as he points out, "The Autobots won't like it if you kill someone in cold blood, even if that someone is worse than Megatron or even Airachnid."

Dusksword points out as well in detail, "That's ironic; they've killed thousands of Decepticons, sometimes even in cold blood aside from standard Vehicon Troopers, and you're telling me that's cold blooded? Primus, that partially makes no sense, and it lies in the fact that the rest of the Autobots except for the other transformatted humans don't know what war crimes on Cybertron differentiate from Earth war crimes and vice versa, and especially in terms of what Autobots do that count as war crimes on Earth. Contrary to what human religion scripture says, those like even Airachnid are irredeemable, and no matter how hard one tries, even Decepticons similar to Airachnid, Soundwave, Trailtwin or Megatron will always refuse to change, even outside of being torturously possessed by Unicron. Don't get me wrong; I understand completely that murder is a sinful, evil thing associated with Earth demons, Decepticons, and Unicronian Terrorcons, but killing soldiers on the battlefield while still obeying standard military laws on the subject are a whole other ballgame."

Primus looks lost in thought for a second before saying before querying, "You are correct; killing soldiers in war while still obeying laws is entirely different from murdering others with evil intent. But in all seriousness, you care about Arcee like if she was a sister to you, do you not?"

Dusksword answers before asking, "Yes, I do. And I look up to Optimus like the ultimate father figure, and respectfully, am I correct in guessing that he must've had a hard time raising his children despite what wisdom in raising children the Matrix of Leadership gave him?"

Primus answers, "Yes, he did. But he managed to pull through at the end. We will discuss further matters later. As you humans say in the modern age from the 1800s to the early 2010s, tomorrow is another day."

The next morning, Dusksword approaches Optimus and says, "Optimus. I have reason to believe that my adopted brother and my other Neutral comrades are still functioning and are on Earth. I intend to search for them, but not without reinforcements."

Optimus replies, "Understood. After a few minutes of scouting the Columbia Basin Cold Desert, Dusksword picks up a Cybertronian life signal.

Dusksword says, "Everyone, I'm picking up a signal, and it's faint. Most likely to be in danger."

Omega Danger replies, "We must hurry, then. How close are we getting?"

Dusksword answers, "4 clicks north."

Dusksword rushes in that direction, and the other Autobots drive and fly after him.

Once they got there, they saw a wounded mech in green, red, purple, white, and black armor plating holding a katana and a broadsword with a shield attached to his left arm. He had the frame of a traditional Grounder, meaning that he transforms into a car. Next to him was a tanto and in a good three and a half miles from him was a platoon of 98 dead Vehicon drones.

Dusksword exclaims, "Flatblade!"

Flatblade replies, "Hey, little brother... I need medical attention."

Dusksword contacts Ratchet and says, "Ratchet, open an emergency Space Bridge to our coordinates. We found my brother and we also need Fortressimus' troops to deal with corpses of Vehicon Troopers sent to intercept my brother."

Ratchet replies, "Copy that."

The Autobot Space Bridge opened and Fortressimus' troops each carried either a whole Vehicon corpse or even pieces of the corpses.

Dusksword carries his brother and Omega Danger helps Arcee carry Flatblade's weapons.

Dusksword puts Flatblade on a medical berth and Ratchet and the other medics get to work on repairing Flatblade's damages.

Dusksword then leaves to the SAFE to train himself so he can keep his mind off of his brother's damages and so he can unleash his built up rage.

After three and a half hours of training Dusksword was about to go onto the hardest difficulty of the training simulations when Ratchet comes in and says, "Dusksword."

Dusksword whirls around and sees Ratchet standing there.

Ratchet continues, "Your brother is awake and his damages are repaired."

Dusksword sighs in relief before saying, "Computer, end training program."

The automated computer replies, "Acknowledged."

The holographic training simulation ends and the SAFE hologram training room returns to normal.

Ratchet adds, "And Flatblade wants to talk to you."

Dusksword nods before following Ratchet to the medical bay.

In the medical bay, Flatblade remarks, "Hey, Dusk. How are youse?"

Dusksword answers, "Just dandy, especially now that I had help to find you."

Flatblade then asks, "Why did you ally yourself with the Autobots?"

Dusksword answers, "Master Yoketron is here with us as well, and he partially helped contribute to me joining the Autobots because even I can't hide forever, even if it wasn't a matter of time before Megatron found out about me. And besides, you know I'd rather ally myself with the Autobots rather than the Decepticons. I hope you remember that Megatron treats his troops like crap. This also enabled me to overhear gossip about Ironspan wanting to defect from the Decepticons just to take Megatron's post as their leader."

Flatblade's optics widened as he remarked before saying and then before revealing, "Whoa... never knew that it was that bad. I always remembered being lectured about the way Megatron treats every Decepticon under his command even on a good day, but I didn't think that any bot in his inner circle would even think about wanting to switch sides. But nevertheless, I'm joining the Autobots too, for our sakes, and for the sakes of our fellow Neutrals. But the worst part is, from what I intercepted from recent Decepticon radio chatter, those Vehicon Troopers who damaged me were trying to lure you out in the open to capture you for interrogation and for attempting to force you to join their army."

Dusksword growls in response and Flatblade says, "Yeah, I don't know why they want to force you to join them, but I intend to make sure that you get the help you need to deal with them, if and only if you ever need it."

Dusksword replies, "I appreciate it, brother, but please stop acting like you're nearly as invincible as Megatron when around massive quantities of Dark Energon. Back on Cybertron, that kind of bravado almost had you going offline four times in a row."

Flatblade replies, "Yeah... I remember. I'll try my hardest to stop acting tough even in the face of danger."

Dusksword then says, "Try to recharge. Optimus Prime will want to speak with you when you have fully recovered and reenergized."

Flatblade replies, "Don't have to tell me twice."

Flatblade goes into recharge mode as Dusksword leaves the medical bay.

On his way to his quarters, Dusksword is stopped by Elita One as she asks, "How is Flatblade?"

Dusksword answers, "He's still intact, but he needs time to rest and recuperate."

Elita One replies back before saying, "Well, that's good news. Judging by your reaction to your brother's status, I was under the impression that you were worried."

Dusksword ex-vents before explaining, "I care about him just as much as he cares about me, but sometimes, he tends to do the dumbest things an Autobot rookie would do to prove themselves worthy of praise and reward, but in Flatblade's case, he does it to make himself look tough and appear as invincible as Megatron whenever he's near massive amounts of Dark Energon. But thankfully, like me, Flatblade takes things on the battlefield very seriously like a battle-hardened Autobot commander or Autobot lieutenant."

Elita One replies, "I see. Well, get some time to recharge yourself. I'll notify you if you're needed."

Dusksword nods before going to recharge in his quarters.

With Fortressimus, he remarks, "And so begins the Sick Mind and Out Of His Head incidents that will result in Megatron returning to life for the second time in nine million and twenty-one years. Huh."

Fortressimus goes into recharge mode as well, and his personal dreamland opened its doors to him.

The End.

(Author's notes: See you all in chapter 73: Sick Mind.)
