Sonics POV:
I Dash through green hill, the shiny, emerald grass tickling my feet. The crunch of the field fills me with endless excitement as I traverse the Vast expanse of land that waits for me below.
I love green hill. When your fighting World ending tyrants all the time, you begin to see the value in the little things.
I sit down on a lump of dirt, out of breath from my run through the grassy terrain. I start to relax a little. Even begin to doze off.
"Hey Sonic!" Shouts an ecstatic Amy, startling me.
"Woah! Didn't see you there!" I reply, as the shock begins to fade away.
"What's the fastest thing alive doing in green hill today?" asks Amy in an endearing voice.
"Just having a nap." I reply, a smile growing on my face.
It's always nice to see Amy. She is a good friend, and you can always rely on her if your feeling down. Sure, sometimes she may be a little bit over eager, but I guess that's what makes her well... her!
"Really? Sleeping on the job Mr freedom?" She teases, making me grin.
"Eh, Eggs for brains hasn't attempted another attack since infinite, and you know how that went" I fire back, making her laugh.
"Speaking of that, how's everything been since I left the Resistance? Any big battles I missed out on?" I ask.
"No, not really, we've been spending most of our time and resources on reconstruction after the war. I think Knuckles is going mad with all the paper work and whatnot." She says jokingly, making me smile yet again.
"I can imagine that's not his cup of tea. Probably wants to go straight back to the action. I'm surprised that Knuckles and Company have been able to fix up green hill so fast. I can give the Resistance that!"
Amy gave a small, mocking bow and then continued the conversation. "Would be faster if you joined back-"
"Nuh uh." I interrupt. "You know I left the resistance for a reason. I just go wherever the wind takes me."
the pink hedgehog goes pinker, a blush growing on her face.
"If you don't want to join I won't stop you. Just asking" she sighed, looking disappointed that this invitation was another failure.
I feel bad for her, but this feelings cut short by my watch, gave to me by Tails.
"Oh crap! Look at the time! I have to go to the workshop with Tails to fix up the tornado! See you in a bit Amy!" I shout, before sprinting away to my business.
Amy stands their, motionless. I hope I didn't hurt her feelings too much. She's a really really good friend.
Amy's POV:
As I watched the blue blur leave for his next adventure, I couldn't help but feel a little unhappy.
It's always nice to see Sonic; He is generous, kind, funny, fearless...
I'll stop there so I don't start listing everything I love about him, because if I did, That list would take hours to read.
I yearn to be around him more often. I just wish he would join the resistance again.
I know it's a selfish desire. He probably has better stuff to do. Talk to tails, fight Eggman, save the world...
But ever since he saved me from that metal doppelgänger, I've loved him.
I walk back to construction, Where Knuckles and crew are. They are rebuilding a few burrows and reconstructing more loops.
We've been coping well since the war, but those were still trying times for all of us.
It hurts my head to even think about the war torn streets, people ablaze with fear of losing their lives because of a greedy conflict started by that crazed man.
Good thing we defeated him.
"Hey Amy, could you help out with this rubble real quick would ya?" asked a fellow resistance member.
"Sure! If you could just hand me that and.." I reply.
I can't really focus, because all I can think of is sonic. I wonder what he is doing now.
As I lifted the rocks, little critters of all kinds crawled out of the hole.
It reminded me about how beautiful life truly is.
War is over, after all.
