"I know what is on the minds of the worlds' leaders, and it is centered on power and ambition!"
An old man yells and stumbles into the plaza of the Avengers Building, creating a commotion between the flock of businessmen and women running late to their jobs.
"What is it that made them lose sight of what is important!"
Eyes look toward the old man and roll their eyes at him. Thinking to themselves that it is just another street preacher wasting their time.
"They lost the will to follow the only thing that makes us feel alive! Our faith! Our faith that tests us till the very end!"
Crowds of onlookers begin to continue to go about their day, ignoring the preacher's words.
"It is said that in the last days, men and women will turn their backs on the Anointed one and will worships false idols and doctrines! Idols that are already here and leading people astray! You call them by a different name, the Avengers."
As the name of the Avengers was uttered, people began to look again at the old man and start to stop in their tracks.
"When the Lord comes into his full glory, where will the Avengers be? When the Mountains are sundered, the waters parted and bloody, the people crying out for their Redemption. Where brother is against brother, and the nations will declare for the Accuser!"
People began to start questioning the preacher but before they could get a word in, a shadow fell over the plaza, and it was gone just as quick. A murmur started in the crowd and they pointed to the sky to see the billionaire philanthropist heading into his technology filled home in the skyscraper.
"Look how they see us as weak and feebleminded enough to put up with their own problems and enemies. Sure they protect us from their enemies but it doesn't take away the fact that it's their fault in the first place. When are we going to say no to this and start to prepare for the coming of the Lord."
"Jarvis can you bring the thermometer up a little higher in the suit, thanks."
"Sir, the suit is regulated with your best intentions in mind, per your specifications, it has that 'Bing Crosby by the fire' feeling."
"Yeah, I know, but it sure helps to hear you say it. Now what is happening in the world today?"
"Besides your appointment scheduled at three o'clock, the world is having a peaceful day, thanks to your help in the middle east, also your involvement in the Avengers program which saved New York from an Alien invasion, all in all the world could use some time off from you sir."
"Just what I like to hear and not too shabby if I do say so myself. Anything local happening, might do a r and r at the ol' watering hole."
"There has been some rumours of a protest outside your building today sir. Though I am assured it's due to the massive destruction that has happened from the invasion. Also the potential fallout from the payload you delivered to the aliens has been detected."
"Right, a protest for me! They shouldn't have. Jarvis, bring up the cameras for the plaza."
Tonys screen lit up and the protest was just starting. People could be seen handling signs that said killer on it. Others have false god on theirs.
"Now the false god part is totally untrue, albeit a bit too on the nose for me, God has nothing to do with the destruction of the city. My father never introduced me to religion but I can see why he didn't now. Just look at them, if their god told them to preach, can't they do it somewhere else where there's no one to get hurt."
"I believe they are pacifists sir."
"I know that, but the sermons, it's the fire and doom that gets awful to hear. Judgment couldn't be sooner for these guys. Or is it for me? Either way, We just stopped the bad guys and now evangelists are calling me out for not believing."
"Sir, I thought you were for innovation and wit."
"I am, but I never really tried to read the good book, besides the occasional holiday special or two."
As Tony was heading to the elevator to meet the protestors, there was a static rising from the advanced stereo system.
Only you can make the world seem bright.
"Huh, maybe the damage is extensive enough to have gotten to the building."
