Adam quickened her pace. Toast in mouth, she ran down the old sidewalks of Tokyo-3. She was going to be late for school again.
But this time, her professor may not be so forgiving.
I hope I can make it in time…" she muttered through her toast in her mouth.
She made a quick turn to the left, not paying attention to her surroundings.
She had not expected to collide head on with something. Or rather, someone.
On the ground, rubbing its "Head" was a bright red fork-like object.
It had a long, red body, covered by an average Japanese school outfit for a boy, and two sharp edges protruding from the top. Adam wondered who this person was.
"I-I'm so sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going… Are you hurt?"
They stood up and shook their fork-like head, and began to speak. From where, Adam wasn't so sure.
"I'm alright, thanks for asking. Sorry for crashing into you, but I've got to rush over to school. I would hate to be late on my first day." His voice was silky smooth, but deep, and calming. Adam was entranced. She blushed a little. Did he just apologise for knocking into me?!
"O-oh! I'm sorry. What school are you going to?" Adam stammered out.
Once again, the silky smooth voice that she had come to love started to speak.
"Oh, I was just going to Cassius High School. I've just been transferred."
Adam's heart began to beat quickly. This… 'Handsome' 'guy' just transferred to HER school?
An idea crossed her mind.
"Oh! I go there too! Do you… Want to walk with me there? I can show you a shortcut!"
The red object stared at her, (Well, she was sure he would be if he had eyes) and after a brief second started to talk.
"Oh, sure! I definitely don't want to be late. Lead the way!"
"And this is our new transfer student, Longinus! Everyone make sure to give them a hand in their studies, and to be respectful to them!" The teacher presented the new student in front of the class. Longinus blushed a little. This was quite embarrassing. The class made enthusiastic shouts and cheered him on. This made him feel motivated.
He noticed a desk beside who he recognized was Adam, the girl he had walked to school with. She seemed nice, so he sat down at it.
He immediately noticed that Adam's white face had turned a shade of very, very white pink.
Longinus was a little confused at what it meant.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Should I not sit here?" He asked the now pinker girl.
"U-um! No! It's okay! You can sit here!" she said, flustered.
Longinus took a seat and began listening attentively to what lesson the teacher had started on. Mathematics. It was Adam's least favourite subject. She just couldn't get the numbers to work in her head. She watched, flabbergasted, as Longinus pulled out a notebook! Was he this serious about school?
The lesson went by fairly quickly. Adam had difficulty understanding some of the equations the teacher had put forward. It was not a problem of her lacking understanding in algebra, but was due to her staring directly at a certain new classmate of hers.
She stole a look whenever she could, and luckily he did not notice her.
She wasn't sure how she felt about Longinus.
He had such a calming voice, he was nice to her and he did look quite good…
But she already liked someone in her class. Lilith. The popular girl.
She had 4 white ligaments, a purple mask over her face and was quite the cutie.
Adam liked her as soon as the first time she saw her.
But she was way out of Adam's league. A girl can dream, can't they? She thought to herself.
The bell rang for Lunch. Finally,
She looked over at Lilith's desk. By now it was swarming with other boys and girls from her class, all wanting to talk to this pretty and popular girl.
Lilith ignored them, walked over to Longinus and started to chat him up in a friendly tone.
Longinus watched as this unknown girl walked over to his desk and stood in front of it.
A little confused, he attempted to start a conversation. He wanted to meet new people and get some new friends, after all. "Hi, I'm Longinus. Nice to meet you. What's your name?"
The girl smiled and started to speak in a sickeningly sweet tone. "I'm Lilith, Nice to meet you! I heard that you transferred here recently. What was your old school like? What are your hobbies? Do you have a girlfriend?"
Longinus was overwhelmed by the sudden tidal wave of questions.
"U-Uh, my old school was alright, but was lacking in teaching and learning ability, so I transferred here. I guess I like to play guitar, and to cook. And no, I do not have a girlfriend."
He wasn't sure why she had asked the last question. Why would they think he had a girlfriend? He sure didn't seem that interesting.
Adam stared at the dispute happening before her.
She felt a hint of… Jealousy? Why? It wasn't like she liked Longinus…
After Longinus answered all of Lilith's questions she returned to her desk, looking satisfied.
The school day ended, and Longinus stood right outside the large building. He had been meaning to make some friends at his new school, and Adam seemed nice.
Adam was overjoyed. She couldn't wait to catch the next episode of her favourite TV show later, Neon Terminus Evangelion! She was walking through the door out of the school when all of a sudden she was met with a certain red fork in her face. "O-Oh! Longinus! What are you doing here?" Longinus took a step back.
"I was just wondering If you had plans for the rest of the day? I would love to have someone to show me around the city. If it's not too much trouble?" He inquired.
Adam blushed deeply. Her TV show could wait. He was 'basically' asking her out on a date! "O-Of course! I would love to? Do you want to go right now-"
"I Could go with you, Longinus!" Adam stared wide eyed at the purple faced girl that had just cut her off. She looked at Longinus. He looked surprised as well. What was Lilith doing?
"I- well, I…" He stammered. Adam stood up tall. "Sorry, but we just made plans. C'mon Longinus, we're leaving." She grabbed him by one of his 'horns' and pulled him away, leaving the other girl with an angry expression on her face. Longinus was very confused.
As soon as they were out of earshot and out of view of Lilith, Adam released her grip on Longinus. "Uhm-... I'm sorry for grabbing you and dragging you away suddenly. You just looked uncomfortable…" Longinus stared at her for a moment. "No, it's alright. Thank you. I wasn't sure how to react. I wonder why she did that… Anyway, are you still interested in showing me around the city? I understand if you're not." She blushed. "O-oh, yeah! I would love to! C'mon, follow me!" She beckoned him to follow her as she ran down the street.
