This is a fanfic about Psychonauts. The main OCs are Lucas and Connie. Let's start with something I rarely do, a Prologue.
It was very lonely at my house for quite a long time. I'd been stuck on house arrest for attacking someone with my fists, and it just so happened the guy was a corrupt cop that was trying to arrest my current girlfriend, Connie, just for being a black girl. And when I did this, I was the one who got in trouble, but not before showing my own footage from my own car cam that showed that the cop was actually threatening to shoot Connie just because she was black, unless she got out of the car... and disrobed. Yeah, he was one of THOSE cops.
Regardless, the cop was now in prison, I was on house arrest, and Connie was living with me because of one thing. Both of us had literally no other family left alive except for VERY extended leaves on the trees. For my extended family, they lived out of the country. And for Connie's, her extended family lived out of state in the state prison, all of them being criminals.
"How about we spend some time playing games, hon?" Connie smiled at me, me smiling at her.
"Okay, hon. How about we make a bet. Loser has to pay for takeout pizza," I smiled.
"Ooh, okay! What game do you have in mind?" she asked, me then pointing to the PS4 and the PS2.
"The first one to get to the end of Psychonauts 1 is the winner, any percent," I smirked, her smiling widely at that.
"I'm in. I call PS4 version," she smirked, me nodding as I then went to the PS2 and turned it on after putting the disc in, with Connie doing the same with the other tv and the PS4. But then, when we got to the intro scene of the main menu, it looked... weird. For both of us.
"Um... honey? Why does the screen look static-y?" Connie asked me.
"I don't know, but I don't like it... did we pay for the electric bill?" I asked, her then nodding... but then, out of nowhere, we gawked at how a giant thunderbolt struck down onto the TV antenna and through it into our room! After this, not only were we scared so shitless that all our hair was standing up, but the televisions were still on, despite the power having been taken out!
"WHAT THE HELL?! A thunderbolt in broad daylight?!" Connie asked in shock before I then felt something even weirder... a suction-like effect. And I then looked at the television for the PS2 and I gasped at how it was producing a torrent of wind that was sucking me into it!
"ACK! Is this a creepypasta?!" I asked in shock as Connie then shrieked as well, me then gasping as I saw that she was being sucked into the PS4! I then proceeded to try my hardest to claw my way closer to her, me then gawking at how, once I got to her chair, the suction changed for me to start getting sucked into the television for the PS4! And Connie looked terrified as she was barely able to hold onto the coffee table!
"LUKE! SAVE ME! I DON'T WANT TO DIE!" she shouted, me reaching forward and trying to grab her hand, me gasping at how it made me get sucked even harder into the sucking power of the TV!
"I'm not going to let go!" I shouted, me then wincing as I lost my grip on the sofa! And then, I screamed out loud as both myself and Connie were finally sucked the whole way into the PS4! And when we did, I gasped at how I saw the whole place around us was filling with the scenes of the Psychonauts characters and multiple figments before a blast happened that zapped my hand away from Connie!
"LUCAS!" she shrieked out loud! I could only scream back at her a promise.
"I WILL FIND YOU!" I shouted, me then screaming as I then finally felt... wrong... I was covered in darkness and I felt a ton of constriction... and then, out of nowhere, a bright light... was I going to heaven?... No, something even worse.
"It's coming! Keep pushing, Donna!" said the voice of none other than Augustus! And my head was... oh god, no! I screamed at the exact same time as Donatella as I then came the rest of the way out and Augustus held me in his hands.
"It's a boy!" he said, me then immediately freaking out and speaking... only for my mouth to say nothing but nonsensical babbling. Why? I WAS TURNED INTO BABY RAZPUTIN! How could I tell? Only two other kids in the room, them being younger versions of Frazie and Dion! Maybe... Maybe I could think my thoughts?
"What in the heck is going on right now?" I ended up asking with my mind, which immediately made the entire group in the circus look at me in shock and confusion.
"W-Who just spoke?! Is someone outside the caravan?" Dion asked in concern, me then getting clothed by a cloth and me then speaking again.
"I did, and I need an answer," I said, the others looking at me and for Frazie to look at me in shock.
"Oh my gosh... is little brother a... one of 'them'?" she asked, me then speaking.
"I don't know... tell me, are you the one who thought those words in our heads, son?" Augustus asked, me then doing the daring.
"I did, and I need to tell you things," I said, the group then gasping at that.
"Um... do these count as his first words?... Sorry, I'm so tired from that..." Donatella sighed in exhaustion, me speaking after.
"They aren't, and I'll tell you why, in thought," I said as I then thought out the entire situation that I'd gone through, leaving out the bit that I was playing the game Pscyhonauts. I'd been zapped through a television screen into the role of this baby body, after being a 30-year-old man in my own world and being warped here alongside my girlfriend, Connie Denmark. And when we were warped here, we were separated and I was born into the body of a baby.
"Uh... wow... this is uh... quite the odd situation..." Dion admitted, me frowning at him.
"Believe me, it's even more odd for me. I'm a baby with the brain of a full-grown adult! It's so freaky!" I said in pure bafflement before I then looked at Donna and she spoke.
"So... this will make breast feeding very very awkward..." she admitted.
"Strictly platonic... no matter which way we look at it, though my mind and awareness is that of an adult, I'm technically family, now... trust me, it'll be more awkward for me than it will be for you, since I'm a grown man in a baby body," I said, her nodding at that.
"Yes... no matter which way you look at it, even though you're obviously a strong psychic... it's quite obvious that this is one of the weirdest situations ever... you promise you're telling the truth?" she asked, me nodding at her as best I could, as I had to be careful in this new, fragile body.
"Yes, I am... so... what do we do now?" I asked.
"Might as well get your first meal... Augustus, take Dion and Frazie outside, please?" my new mother asked, Augustus nodding as he did that... and thus, began the most awkward stage of my life. Needing to experience all the stuff of being a baby after being an adult for over 10 years. And it was going to be hell, especially since I HAD to find out where Connie was.
The next 10 years were extremely weird for me, but even moreso for the rest of the Aquato family members as well. During that time, Mirtala and Queepie were born and, just like me, both of them were Psychics, but both were very good at hiding it. Queepie used his telekinesis to pretend he was the strongest baby in the world and Mirtala was able to fake being a fire-breather with pyrokinesis. As for Frazie and Dion, the former and I became very close, as she and I were both Psychics and she felt like the elder sister I always wanted to have, but never could get. And Dion? He grew up to be more hostile towards me for showing off my psychic prowess all the time, especially with my preferred specialty, mind reading.
Yeah, despite me growing up to look almost like I was mixed with my own looks and Razputin's combined at age 10, I was able to have WAY more psychic strength than the main character of the game EVER had! And my two specialties were reading minds and temporary levitation, which the latter was very useful for the circus tricks I was trained to do, especially since the troupe rarely did tricks with nets. But when the shows were all done, I took up residence as a fortune teller for others, me being able to know their thoughts, their most personal secrets, and being able to know exactly what they were thinking at any time. And doing these techniques, the fortune telling tent of the troupe was by far one of the most popular attractions to the circus troupe, making almost as much money as the actual shows did.
"I still have no clue how you can read minds so effectively, Lucas... and why choose that as your name? Why not something more dazzling like Razputin? That was my suggestion," Frazie said, me sighing at that.
"Remember those secrets I told you? The ones I asked you to never tell a soul to?" I asked, her sighing at that, us then thinking the stuff to each other, just in case anyone else was listening into us as we sat outside looking at the sunset, me looking at them as well as holding the flyer for Whispering Rock Psychic Camp, which I'd recieved from the disguised Nona just a few days ago.
"Yeah, you happen to know what's going to happen in the future, based on video games... and the first game happens when you're 10, right?" she asked, me nodding.
"And it'll happen in only two days time. See this flyer, here?" I asked, her then looking at the flyer in confusion.
"Whispering Rock? Psychic Camp?" she asked, me nodding.
"That's the location for the first game, where the main character, Razputin Aquato, would go there to sneak into the Psychonauts' training grounds and, in a big series of convoluted events, would save not only all the campers, but the world from a plot of a madman to rule everyone," I said, Frazie gawking at that.
"And look at this... it's only a scant 5 miles away from our current campgrounds! Are you suggesting what I think you are?... You want to join it?" Frazie asked.
"Oh, not just me, Frazie. I already spoke to Queepie and Tala about it. In a couple nights, the night of the students arriving at camp, we're going to sneak out and go to the psychic camp together, to get better skills," I said, Frazie gasping at that.
"Queepie? Mirtala?... You can't be serious! They're psychic, too?" Frazie gawked, me nodding. "But... how?"
"How else can Queepie carry everyone in the family at the same time? He cheats with telekinesis, which I could see was what he was thinking when I asked him to lift the entire caravan with his hands only. I smirked and called him out, which he agreed to join the camp so he could get stronger... and as for Tala, ever wonder how she always breaths fire after drinking WATER?" I asked, that making Frazie confused.
"Wait... she's been using water?... Wait... she's making fire with her psychic powers?"
"And that's why she keeps it secret. Especially considering everyone in the family, aside from us, thinks the water curse is real. And because of that, she hid her powers. But I asked her how water becomes fire, and she literally spat out both water and fire at the same time when she was drinking some," I smiled. "And when she did so, she sung like a kettle. I suggested that we split the place to train her better in other Psychic powers at the camp. And I told her that, if she got further training, she'd be able to pick things up with her mind, read minds, fly in the air, and even turn invisible," I smirked, which Frazie smiled at widely.
"Invisible? Perfect for Mirtala, the little prankster. She'd be able to spook me at any point she wanted if she could do that," Frazie giggled.
"So, you in? We'll leave a note telling them we went on an adventure together to get smarter," I smirked.
"Bad joke, but... y'know, it's quite a tough choice for me... I don't want to be thought of as lesser than the others if they find out I'm psychic... but hey, if you can make almost a thousand a day from fortune telling, imagine how much I can make by floating in midair and doing tricks as such... turning invisible, throwing fire from my hands? We'd be raking in the big bucks," she smirked. "Oh, okay, I'm in! We need to set out in two days, right? What time do we go?" Frazie asked as I then sensed that Queepie and Mirtala were watching from the bushes.
"Queepie, Tala, come here," I said, them gasping before then coming out to us, looking at the sunset in the distance and sitting down next to us.
"So... when are we going, big brother?" Tala asked with a smile.
"Tuesday night, when mom and dad are doing their usual fun activities they do every Tuesday night, we split and go to the camp," I smirked.
"Yes! I can't wait! I wanna lift an elephant one day!" Queepie giggled.
"We're all in agreement. I'll make the note, so as not to make them know where we went, but to tell them what we're going to do... subtlely," I smirked.
And then, the night came, where I then proceeded to write the note during the midday fortune telling runs, me writing it with my mind via a pen and a paper as I did the mind reading for a bunch of people, one of which actually being none other than Dogen's mother, who was actually named Jillian Boole. And she asked if her kid, Dogen, would be able to be good in the camp, I simply looked in her mind and spoke to her.
"I can sense that your son has a very unique brain... a Boole standard for the boys of the family, if I'm not mistaken?" I asked, her gawking at that.
"Yes, you're right. Ever since daddy Compton discovered his strength, it also became our greatest curse. All of the males in our family have a big problem with Blastokinesis. If they get too worked up and aren't wearing a special hat made of metal, then living thing close to them will get their heads exploded... if a hat of metal is worn, then the blast can only affect less-developed minds, such as animals and bugs... how can you tell?" she asked, me smiling at her.
"Because I read minds, it's my specialty. I can also assure you that, despite what you may worry for, Dogen is a very nice boy. I've seen in your thoughts that he's never told a lie and he's never once broken a promise on purpose. If you told him to wear a hat of metal while at Whispering Rock, then he will most likely keep it on no matter what," I said, her smiling at me.
"You are a master of mind-reading... you're wasting your talents at this circus," she said, me then thinking to her mind specifically.
"Tell no one, I plan on skimping out tonight to join the camp without my parents' knowledge. I've been wanting in on the Psychonauts for awhile now. Please tell nobody about this, okay?" I smiled, her nodding.
"Only if you promise that you'll keep watch over Dogen, okay?" she smiled, me nodding.
"From one Psychic to another, I promise that I will keep Dogen as safe as a grub in a beehive," I smiled, her nodding.
"Interesting analogy. I hope you keep that promise," she smirked, me nodding as she then gave me, get this, not money, but Psitanium Arrowheads! A thousand of them, in fact! And she gave them to me in a sack that I had to stash in my personal safe place, that being what I called 'hammer brain space'.
"W-Where'd they go?" she asked.
"A personal storage shed in my mind," I smirked.
"Mental storage?... Why, that's one of the most advanced tricks in the book! Only Hollis Forsythe can do that! I'll definitely put a good word in for you when I go back to the Motherlobe," she smirked, me nodding as I shushed her, and she nodded and did the shush as well. "Only Forsythe, promise," she smirked, me nodding as she then left the tent and I had to get through 10 more fortunes before the next show was on. And by then, I'd finished my note. Here's what it read as:
"To my new Mom and dad:
I'm going to be taking some off time along with Frazie, Queepie, and Mirtala. We're going to be traveling to a nearby locale in order to get some training. We aren't taking Dion with us, since it's for training skills he doesn't happen to have. When we finish our training, I promise that we'll come back to the circus as the smartest, most impressive performers of all time. Please don't fret, we'll stay out of trouble... hopefully. There might be danger, but I can protect the others. Until we meet again, stay safe and stay happy. After all, a performer is always supposed to smile.
With love, Lucas," it read, me smiling as I then placed it on the crystal ball, underneath a cloak.
And then, after the entire day's performances were done and after a hearty dinner, as expected, Donna and Augustus proceeded to have what I called 'fun time'. In reality, they were having sex. Yeah, they loved to do it, even being quite kinky in how they did so. Regardless, when this happened, I took the cloak off of the crystal ball in my tent and, after doing so, I then left a trail of chocolate bits the whole way to my tent so they'd get the hint. And after, I then took the others and proceeded to have our group rush through the forest on foot, me managing to assist by using telekinesis on the group so they could run as fast as I was, which the trio were excited at when they saw they were flying.
"I'm flying! Thanks, big brother! I feel like a butterfly! Wheee!" Tala giggled as we rushed through the woods.
"And we'll have even more fun at camp. To Whispering Rock! Away!" I smirked, which everyone in my group smiled at. It was time to not only go to the camp, but also try my hardest to become a Psychonaut as fast as possible. Surely becoming even a junior agent would allow me to find my girlfirend! No doubt that, if she were sent to this world at the same time as me, she'd be a Psychic child, too!
