Chapter 2- Charles Wendellheim II

" Wake up Charles"

Charles wondered who could be waking him but it was only his wife Iris House who had been in a hibernation chamber the same as Charles's father that drastically increased their lifespan. She had been in her securitron form while in the lucky 38 and when Charles was out enforcing she was connected to his pip boy giving advice on issues related to engineering.

Charles had loved Iris very much however he didn't have time to really talk and connect with her as much after the great war and he found this rather unfortunate. They had both been busy with their duties so they didn't talk as much as they used to.

" What is it love? It's like 4AM. God damn I'm tired."

"Sorry but House told me to wake you up to discuss the war."

Charles with fear and anger in his voice said " The war. What does he want to discuss about the war that we are on the verge of deafeat with the legion at New Vegas's very gates ready to kill and rape our people."

The war for new vegas was going rather bad. After House had acquired the platinum chip he used it to upgrade his securitrons and with them upgraded, he sent a garrison of 5 securitrons to hoover dam which was about 25 percent of his force, however during the 2nd battle of hoover dam which happened a few days later after he sent his garrison, it had been effectively wiped out due to the strength of the Legion troops marching onto hoover dam and the ones marching from the Legate's camp, but it was also bloody for the Legion, with them heavy losses mostly due to the securitrons firepower and the NCR had also taken heavy losses due to the Legion catching the NCR by surprise by using the intake tunnels in Hoover Dam. With the Legion taking Hoover Dam it signified the weakness that House and the NCR had due to the loss of Hoover Dam. Brownouts also started occurring in New Vegas and in New California. The only major power stations in New Vegas were Helios one and the el dorado station, and with most of it going to the wealthier areas like the strip, the people in the impoverished areas like freeside were started to get agitated.

Iris tried calming Charles down seeing him agitated and said " Charles don't worry we will get through this even if we die at least we die together."

"Iris I love you but that is not comforting at all love."

Iris had always been an awkward and shy woman engrossed in her work of engineering. She had been one of House's top engineers and happened to work a lot with Charles due to him being CFO and overseeing lots of ROBCO's projects causing them to fall in love when they worked together.

" Well the point is that House wants to see you so are you coming or not?"

"Fine, I'll go myself."

Charles then went to the elevator to House's penthouse area where he was displayed on a projector screen. He was fidgeting with his hands clearly nervous at the war and meeting his father in his penthouse. He usually didn't talk to House in the Penthouse unless it was an emergency. To greet him were House's 2 securitrons which he used for pleasure and emotional support

They were securitrons who had the personality of House's favorite girls, they were named Jane and Marilyn. During the pre war era Charles had occasionally seen them with House and detested them due to them driving House's attention away from Charles.

"What is it father? Have you come to tell me that the Legion are at our very gates."

"No, however they are very close and we do have a high chance of losing if the reports I've been getting are true and they have double the men of my garrison of securitrons and the NCR's soldiers at New Vegas. And with the rebels in freeside that keep pestering us it's not looking good for us. However the NCR are sending a new garrison of men to help us."

"And what would their help be worth? To tax New Vegas unto oblivion."

"Either way it would be bad for us and the people of new vegas so i'm gonna have to gamble and risk it all for we are nothing if taxed by the NCR or destroyed by the Legion. So here is what I want you to do son. I have informed Joseph and Karl that you will escort them out of freeside. I have been hearing on your pip boy of a pre-war casino. It is probably destroyed but we need all the wealth we can get so I will send that idiot Joseph there to see if there is any wealth there we can use to fund this battle, and there has been a group of locals in Nellis Air Force Base,anybody who tries going to their base gets bombed with their weapons, we should try to make contact with them because there weapons will be needed in the battle for New Vegas so I will send Karl to convince them to help us even if he dies we have no other options."

"And who will rule gommorah in Karl's stead."

The Omertas were a violent tribe before ruling Gommorah leading unsuspecting travelers to their camps and drugging them. House let them rule Gommorah reminding him of the mafioso types in New Vegas. Later however weeks after Benny's death the EONV investigated Gommorah and learned that they were being paid by Caesar's Legion to poison the New Vegas strip and the EONV stopped them and Karl ruled Gommorah.

"I will find a loyal subordinate who didn't participate in the plan to poison the strip to rule in his stead. Anyways it's better for that horny bastard Karl to get away from Gommorah he's getting lazy."

"And what will I do father?"

"You will enforce New Vegas by purging the rebels in freeside. There are house supporters there which I will mark on your pip-boy, go to them and get your rifle and revolver. I also have plasma grenades that Iris just made and purge the rebels."

Charles had a smile on his face.
