A/N: This one is a continuation of the very first story on this thread. Here, Neville actually goes to get a wand that has chosen him.
It was Saturday, September 7th, 1991, and Augusta Longbottom and her grandson Neville had just entered Ollivander's wand shop.
"Good morning, Madam Longbottom, " said Mr. Ollivander in a businesslike voice, "I am aware that it has been brought to your attention that Neville cannot expect to use his dad's old wand and get proper results. He needs a wand that has chosen him."
"I'd forgotten all about that, though the memory of you explaining that to me came rushing back to me once I was told, " admitted Augusta.
"The wand chooses the wizard, " said Ollivander mysteriously, "That much has always been clear to those of us who have studied Wandlore. Now. Mr. Longbottom don't be alarmed if the first wand you try doesn't choose you. Harry Potter went through more wands than I care to count before I found a match for him."
Neville nodded nervously,
Ollivander pulled down a box from one of the shelves and removed a wand from it.
"Beechwood and dragon heartstring. Nine inches. Nice and flexible, " said Ollivander as he handed the wand to Neville.
"Give it a wave, " instructed Ollivander.
Neville waved the wand above his head a few times, feeling incredibly stupid as he did so while nothing happened.
"That wand can't feel you at all, " observed Ollivander, "Stubborn wand, that one, doesn't seem to want to choose anyone."
So, Ollivander put the beechwood wand away and pulled down another box.
"Willow and niffler hair. Ten inches. Shiny and slippery, " said Ollivander, as handed Neville the next wand.
But Neville had trouble even handling the slippery niffler hair wand, which he kept dropping, his face going redder each time.
The one time h managed to wave it, shelves smashed and over a hundred boxes of wands ended up on the ground.
"No, no, definitely not, " said Ollivander decisively, snatching the slippery niffler hair wand out of Neville's hands and putting it back in its box.
"Reparo!" cried Ollivander as he raised his own wand.
The shelves all put themselves back together and Ollivander used a series of "Accio" Charms to put away all the boxes of wands that had tumbled.
"Maybe the third time's the charm?" thought Ollivander.
Ollivander pulled down yet a third box and said hopefully, "Maybe this is it, Mr. Longbottom. Cherry and unicorn hair. Twenty four inches. Sturdy and unbendable. Immensely powerful."
Olivander handed the Cherry wand to Neville.
Neville raised the cherry wand above his head and gave it a wave.
This time, Neville felt a pleasant warmth in his fingers as scarlet and gold sparks emitted from the wand.
"Bravo!" said Ollivander instantly, "That's the one for you, Longbottom. Perhaps great things lie ahead for you for such a powerful wand to choose you. You'll notice the difference right away when you go back to class next week."
"Thank you, Mr. Ollivander, " said Neville contently, "It's a relief to know why I was struggling and to know it's been sorted out."
Neville raised his up his cherry wand in pride.
He had found his match.
A/N: It is canon that the wand Neville gets for himself after his dad's wand breaks is cherry and unicorn hair. There is no known canon for its flexibility, power or length so I just made those up.
