Warrick, Nick and Sara pulled up to their scene, exhaustion written on their faces.

"I'm so tired." Nick yawned, grabbing his kit from the trunk, rubbing his eyes. "No matter how many cases we do in a night it's still going to be unsolved until Greg gets back to DNA."

"When is he supposed to be back anyway?" Warrick asked pulling his case in hand, eyeing the building before them.

"In a week, as long as he's cleared." Sara supplied, clipping on her vest, her hand on her own kit as the trio walked toward the building.

"Thank God." Warrick groused, seeing detective Brass, he nodded. "What do we have?"

Jim Brass seemed bewildered; his eyes quirked in confusion. "Well it's a robbery… but according to witnesses one of the customers offered himself up to save the rest of the customers but that didn't stop one of them from nearly beating one of my rookie detectives, who was in the robbery, within an inch of his life."

"So, robbery, abduction, and attempted murder, lovely. I'll take in here." Nick sighed, putting down his kit on the floor.

"I'll check the surveillance, see if we can identify the suspects and this ballsy customer, who put his life on the line." Sara announced, heading off to do what she said.

"I guess that means I got the perimeter." Warrick huffed, walking off to talk to one of the uniform officers.

"Ok, lets start with the initial robbery." Sara offered the manager a smile as he queued up the footage.

"Those two are your robbers…" The manager pointed to the two slightly disheveled men, then moved to the harrowing patron. "And that guy there offered himself up to save us."

Drifting closer to the screen, she sighed. "Can you move in on them its hard to see." The manager did as asked, zooming in on their suspects before turning to the other man. Seeing the spikes alone made her heart rate pick up but when part of his face came on the screen her eyes grew wide. "Shit!" Pulling out her phone, Sara dialed Grissom's number. When he picked up, she responded shakily. "Griss, we got a problem. You and Cath need to get here now."

"Are we sure it was Sanders?" Ecklie questioned, his eyes scanning across the group, his lips pursed irritably.

"Positive." Sara sighed, rubbing tiredly at her eyes, unnerved after seeing the video. "Between seeing the surveillance video and showing the witnesses his picture, it was confirmed… plus his car is right there." She replied sadly, pointing a few cars down, shaking her head.

"I still can't believe I missed that." Nick huffed, crossing his arms in front of him. This little meeting was starting to annoy him. They needed to find Greg.

"I thought he was still in the hospital." Catherine added as Grissom shook his head, his hand moving to the bridge of his nose.

"He was released a few days ago. I was actually supposed to have a meeting with him today."

"Well, this is our only case right now. Were not losing one of our own." Ecklie added, before turning and walking away.

"Well, what do we know?" The night shift supervisor asked the group, his eyes looking between them.

"According to the witnesses they all corroborate our two suspects came into rob the place when they found my detective, they threatened to kill him... and Sanders stepped up, gave some out their story which turned their focus on him. One of them took Greg out to their car while the other kicked the shit out of my guy before taking all of the money he could and left." Brass explained, reading off his notepad, a frustrated sigh at his lips.

"The footage shows that." Sara groaned, shoving her face into her hands.

"Ok… so…" Grissom started to speak when his phone came to life. "Excuse me… Grissom." He waited a moment before a voice came back over the small device.

"Dad… its Greg… don't be mad but I need you to do a few things for me… no questions asked."

"Greg?" Grissom stuttered, why was he calling him dad? "Greg, where are you? Where'd they take you?"

"Dad please, just listen…I'm in danger if you don't."

Greg's voice came out controlled but tight, even a little shaky. "Yeah son…" The team stared at him in confusion. "Tell me what you need?"

"Twenty million, a fueled plane, and a direct get away."

"Where are you? Where are we sending this?" The older man cringed, hearing the deep groan emanating through the phone. "I… cant tell… you now… just please hurry." The phone went dead making the older man hiss. "Brass we got a bigger problem."

"How big of a problem?"

"Twenty million and a plane."

"Greg's asking for this?" Brass asked, confused by the sudden change.

"Wait, that was Greg on the phone?" Sara asked, stunned as the rest of the group.

"Yes."

"Well?"

"He was definitely under duress… if we don't get these things then we will be…"

"We need to trace that call." Sara cried urgently, her hand running through her hair. "We could probably find him with that."

"We will Sara." He sighed, turning back to the computer. Hearing from Greg had been slightly comforting, but they were still no closer to finding him.

Greg cringed as the tools that scattered his captor's trunk dug into his back, his tied hands and feet doing nothing to help him maneuver away.

Paul and Peter, or so they called themselves, let him out of his confines long enough to piss, on the side of the road, on a highway he didn't recognize, and to call Grissom.

He knew it was a risk to name Grissom his father, but he figured out enough to think otherwise. Plus, if Grissom could play into his ruse the way he did then it would be no surprise Peter and Paul would too.

Greg had always felt like their group was like a family. Brass and Grissom always felt like fathers to him, having lost his early on. Catherine, unlike his mother, wasn't overprotective, but knew she treated him like the son she never had.

Nick and Warrick, the brothers he had always begged his mom for.

And Sara, though she could fit in the sisterly role, he always hoped to change that, that they could be more but as the car lurched on beneath him, Greg couldn't help the sick feeling that he may not see the sun rise the next day. "Please find me."

"Anything on tracing the call?" Sara asked Archie, stepping into his lab after pacing the break room for nearly an hour.

"It came back to a pay phone just outside the city." The A/V tech sighed in frustration, his hands clenching in his hair. "Sent Brass, haven't heard anything yet."

Sighing in f? rustration herself she was surprised to see Grissom walking in

"Archie, did you get the video from the bank?"

"Yes… its still uploading."

"Ok… when you can run their faces through all the databases. They've got to be in the system somewhere."

"Got it." The pair watched the older man leave, his face unreadable. Since Greg's call, Grissom seemed to distance himself more.

"And… just check every database."

Without another word the older man walked out of the room, looking if possible twenty years older.

"He's taking this really hard." The tech noted, typing in new parameters on the computer.

"Yeah… Greg's call really shook him." Shaking her head, she focused on the screen, when her phone suddenly came to life on her hip. Without taking her eyes off the screen, she put the phone to her ear. "Sidle."

"Sara." The scratchy voice on the other end nearly made her heart stop.

"Gr… Greg?" Archie's eyes widened as she pressed the phone closer to her ear, her hand pressing to her chest. "Where are you? Are you ok?"

Instead of answering her questions, Greg's hoarse voice came back. "They aren't giving me much time… but I need you guys to know its ok if you don't find me in time…"

"Greg." Sara cut him off, her eyes bulging in alarm, but he continued.

"It's ok. I still care about all of you… but Sara…."

She could hear his change in breathing, making her wonder what was going on. "Yes Greg?"

"I love you."

Her heart skipped a beat as the call dropped, her breath leaving her body in soft pants.

"Sara." Archie all but yelled trying to get the brunette's attention. "Sara?"

Sara jumped her eyes going to the tech. "Huh what?"

"What did Greg say? Is he ok?"

"He…" She stopped finding the tears pouring from her eyes. "He said its ok if we don't find him and…"

She dissolved into tears as Archie pulled her into a hug. "Its ok Sara, we'll find him."

R&R…. Hope you like. Once again unbeta'd.
