In a review to the chapter about Pettigrew's Order of Merlin being revoked, the user Just A Traveller mentioned Tom Riddle's Special Award for Services to the School, and I decided to do a chapter on getting it revoked too.

It was the morning of Sunday May 3rd, 1998, the day after the Battle of Hogwarts had ended the Second Wizarding War with the death of Lord Voldemort.

It was almost breakfast time and the students and staff had all gathered in the Great Hall. Before breakfast would appear however, there would be an announcement.

At the staff table, the temporary Minster of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt, had gotten to his feet and was a holding a purple megaphone.

"Good morning, everyone, " piped up Shacklebolt in his deep soothing voice, "Last night, I conducted a thorough inspection of every nook and cranny of Hogwarts. I came across something I instantly knew and felt wasn't right in the Trophy Room. "

At the Gryffindor table, Harry felt his insides squeam. He knew at once that Shacklebolt must be talking about the fact that Lord Voldemort had received a Special Award for Services to the School when he was still Tom Riddle.

"Before he became Lord Voldemort, " continued Shacklebolt, "Lord Voldemort was known by his birth name of Tom Riddle."

"So," pieced together Luna at the Ravenclaw table, "Tom Riddle has a Special Award for Services to the School?"

"That, unfortunately, is what my search of the Trophy Room turned up. Tom Riddle had a nice shiny shield for Special Services to the School, " confirmed Shacklebolt, "However, it was the oddest of all the shields and trophies as well. You see, most of the shields and trophies in the Trophy Room are quite straightforward as to what they are for and why they were awarded. Tom Riddle's Special Award for Services to the School gives NO indication of why it was awarded."

People such as Harry, Hermione, and Ginny who knew more about this story flinched a bit. Those who had no knowledge of it simply shook their heads in confusion.

"As soon as I learn about the exact circumstances of why Tom Riddle was granted a Special Award for Services to the School, I will immediately allow that information to become public. For now, my main interest this morning is this: Tom Riddle and Lord Voldemort are one in the same. Regardless of the reason for the award, and it's definitely fishy that no reason is given on the award itself, I think we can all agree that Lord Voldemort does not deserve to and should not remain in possession of a Special Award for Services to the School. It would be spitting in the faces of his victims and all who suffered from his actions to allow this award to stand, " said Shacklebolt fiercely.

There was a deafening quiet now. Everybody had his or her mouth shut and ears open as they all anticipated what was about to come.

""I hereby declare Tom Riddle's Special Award for Services to the School to be revoked. I removed the shield from the Trophy Room last night, " declared Shacklebolt.

There was a huge uproar of applause, especially from Harry, who was glad to see that Shacklebolt wasn't going to let Lord Voldemort keep an unjust award.

Over at the Hufflepuff table, Ernie and Hannah both shook their heads.

"Why were we never more suspicious of the fact that award had no reason given for its awarding those times we visited the Trophy Room?" said Ernie disbelievingly.

"We didn't who Tom Ruddle actually was," said Hannah matter of factly.

"It still should have caught our attention more that it was the only award that didn't have a reason, " said Ernie bluntly.

"That caught my attention right away," admitted Shacklebolt, "But one of the reasons I did the search of Hogwarts last night is that I wanted to see if any bit of Tom Riddle/Lord Voldemort still resided within Hogwarts. The nanosecond I saw that shield, I knew that award needed revoking."

After the initial applause, a sense of quiet closure engulfed the Great Hall.

There was sense of being done right by those who had suffered because of Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters.

There were those who had lost family to Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters: Harry, Neville, Dennis, George, Ginny, Susan, Hannah etc.

Then there were those like Hermione who had suffered as Muggleborns.

And then there was the terror the Wizarding World had constantly been under both times Lord Voldemort had risen to power.

"The removal of this final bit of Lord Voldemort, " said Shacklebolt clearly, "Closes the darkest chapters in Wizarding History and now we can look toward a sunnier future without him."
