This is neither the third winning idea nor the other chapter I had planned on doing, Neither has really come together well yet This chapter, however, explains why I am a James fan and respect his parents as well.

At sixteen years old, Sirius Black had had enough.

Enough of his parents and their pure blood mania. Enough of Kreacher. Enough of being negatively compared to Regulus.

So, sitting in his room and faced with the prospect of another unhappy summer at home, Sirius decided he was going to leave his family.

He needed somewhere to go, and he knew where he would be welcomed. However, he also knew he needed to ask first.

So, Sirius retrieved his quill and some parchment from his trunk and wrote to his BFF.

Dear James:

I'm fed up. I've only been home one day, and mom and dad are already going on and on about how the superiority of pure bloods and all of that. Meanwhile, Kreacher is his usual lunatic self and mom and dad are telling me how much better of a son Regulus is than I am. I've had enough. I have made the decision to leave my family. I would like to know if it would be possible for me to come and live with you for the next years until I can be in a position to get a place of my own?" I would be forever grateful to both you and your mom and dad if you would let me stay with your family for a while. Please send me a response as soon as you can.

Love-

Sirius.

A few minutes and a few nanoseconds later, James's response had seemly arrived.

However, as soon as Sirius had touched the response letter, he was jerked off his feet, found himself traveling through a swirl of wind and color, and suddenly found himself in the Potters' living room.

Looking down at the response letter, Sirius saw that it wasn't a response letter at all, but the letter he had written to James.

James and his mom and dad were all standing in the middle of the living room.

"Hi, Sirius," said James warmly, walking up to hug him, "I showed your letter to mom and dad, and they instantly agreed that you could come and live with us. Dad turned the letter into a Portkey that would activate as soon as a human touched it, ordered your owl to deliver it to you and come right back here, and, like mom and me, waited for you in this room."

"James, " said Sirius chokily, 'Thank you. Thank you for having always been there for me and thank you for agreeing to sharing your home and family with me. There is no more redeeming quality in a friend than being willing to share one's home and family with a friend whose home life is not good. You've welcomed me here in the past when things got really crazy at my place. I knew you'd say yes, but it was better to ask than turn up out of the blue."

"We would have welcomed you either way, " smiled James, "And I'm really proud of you. You've shown why you're in Gryffindor. It takes a lot of courage to take a stand against one's family's beliefs and attitudes. I respect the hell out of you for removing yourself from a family that never shared your values."

"They've chosen their way and I've chosen mine, " said Sirius, puffing out his chest.

Now looking at James's mom and dad, Sirius said, "Mr. Potter, Mrs. Potter-"

"None of that, " interjected James's dad, "It's Fleamont and Euphemia for you."

"Fleamont, Euphemia, " said Sirius warmly, "Thank you for allowing me houseroom. "

"No problem. Sirius," said Euphemia with a smile, "Our house is big, so we have plenty of room for another person."

"Oh shit," said Sirius suddenly, "My trunk."

"That is easily fixed, " grinned James,

James retrieved his wand from his right hand pocket with his right hand and cried, "Accio Sirius's trunk!"

A nanosecond later, Sirius's trunk zoomed into the middle of the Potters' living room.

"Brillant," grinned Sirius.

"To clarify, " said Sirius calmly, "I'm not planning on being here permanently. I will live here the rest of my Hogwarts career and probably some time after I graduate but once I'm in a position to get a place of my own, I'll be moving out of here."

"Naturally, " said Fleamont cheerfully, "You'll always be welcomed back as a guest through."

Sirius and James next exchanged a bone crushing hug.

This was what friends were for.

I have always been a James fan because of how he opened up his house to Sirius when Sirius's home life was bad. That's friendship man. And give James's parents credit too. Much admiration for true friendship! :)
