This is one of those that is less something that should have happened in canon and more of a missing moment and it centers around my personal favorite friendship in Harry Potter, the Harry-Luna friendship.

It was the day after Harry Potter had finally truly defeated Lord Voldemort and Harry had just awoken from a deep, dreamless sleep in his four poster bed in Gryffindor Tower.

Harry woke up feeling content, relaxed and refreshed after a fantastic night of sleep.

There was someone Harry wanted to speak to one on one without being interrupted. So, after breakfast, Harry ventured over to the Ravenclaw table in the Great Hall and tapped Luna Lovegood on her right shoulder with his right hand.

"Hello, Harry Potter," said Luna dreamily, staring up at the ceiling.

"Luna," said Harry seriously, "May I please have a word with you in the Room of Requirement?"

"Yes, Harry Potter, " replied Luna, following him out of the Great Hall.

The nanosecond he came to just outside the Room of Requirement, Harry walked past the wall three times thinking, "Luna and I need a place to talk in private with no other people present."

The Room of Requirement became a quiet meeting room with a white Ashley Furniture sofa that could comfortably fit two people while keeping all other people out.

Harry and Luna sat side by side on the sofa and Harry piped up, "Luna, I really want to take this moment to thank you for what a truly great friend you've been to me from the nanosecond we first met."

Luna felt her eyes water, "That means a lot, coming from you, Harry Potter."

"Luna, you were the one who proactively walked up to me in my fifth and your fourth year and told me that you believed me about Lord Voldemort's return. This was at a time when the idiot Cornelius Fudge and the Daily Prophet were spreading the word against me and people like Seamus were being assholes to me. You never doubted me. You saw Fudge's smear campaign for what it was. You know, in my fourth year, when my name came out of the Goblet of Fire, Ron betrayed me while Hermione was loyal and stood by me. I wish we'd have been friends then. I know you would have stood by me after my name came out of the Goblet of Fire," said Harry matter of factly.

"I appreciate your faith in me as a friend, Harry," said Luna sincerely.

"It's not blind faith," said Harry warmly, "You've proven yourself. You fought bravery in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries. You know, I initially didn't want you, Ginny, or Neville to come along, but you were all fantastic. "

"I got off easy in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries," said Luna thoughtfully, "Ginny broke her ankle, Neville broke his wand, Hermione almost died, and your godfather did die."

"Well, " said Harry matter of factly, "Neville breaking his wand was actually a good thing, he needed to get a wand that had chosen him, but, yeah, I get your point."

"I didn't even mention the emotional scars that battle left on you," said Luna sadly.

"Luna, you were the one who helped me to start the healing process from those emotional scars," said Harry seriously, "After Sirius died, no one, not even Hermione, was able to comfort me before you did. "

"How was I able to help you in a way that no one else was?" asked Luna.

"By telling me about how you felt when your mom died, " answered Harry softly, "At that point, I remembered that you too could see thestrals and could hear the voices in the archway. In that moment, I felt like a kindred spirt with you. I felt bonded to you over our common experience of loss."

"I unlocked you by being relatable to you?" said Luna quietly.

"That's a way of putting it, " replied Harry, "I just felt less alone after that talk. "

"Anytime you need me, I have an open door policy, " Luna told Harry seriously, "I'll always be here for you if you need me, come hell or high water to our world."

"You've already proven that " Harry told her sincerely, "You and Neville were the only two members of the D.A. who responded to Hermione's summons on the night Dumbledore died, the night of the Battle of the Astronomy Tower. "

Luna smiled.

"And, " added Harry proudly, "You, Ginny, and Neville did a wonderful job in keeping the D.A. going this past year and I'm very proud of all three of you."

"Neville and Ginny are great people to work with," said Luna happily.

"What I also appreciate about you is your sense of respect, " Harry told Luna genuinely, "The respect that you showed for Dobby after he died touched my soul. I was devastated by Dobby's death and didn't have any words, but you said it all for me. That was a sad time, but you paid a wonderful tribute to Dobby in a very dignified way with that moving speech. Thinking about that speech brings tears to my eyes, both for the heartbreak of the loss of Dobby, and for the emotion of what a wonderful person and friend Luna Lovegood is."

Both Harry and Luna let a few tears slide down their cheeks and put their arms around each other in a comforting way.

After a few minutes and a few nanoseconds of quiet reflection, Harry looked Luna eye to eye.

"Luna,' said Harry in an unusually serious voice, "The single greatest friendship moment from you came just yesterday. After the war ended when I was tired and unwanting of attention, you were the one who was both perceptive enough and who understood me well enough to know I wanted and needed peace and quiet and helped me to get it. In that way, you gave me the greatest gift I could receive in that moment."

"I hope you got a good night's sleep last night, Harry Potter, " said Luna, going back to her dreamy type of voice, "After the peace and quiet, sleep is what you needed most."

"I slept like a hibernating bear last night," grinned Harry, "It made a huge difference. "

"Good," said Luna approvingly.

"Luna," promised Harry, "If I am ever fortunate enough to have a daughter, her middle name will be Luna in honor of you. Her name will be Lily Luna Potter for my mom and for you."

"Thank you, Harry Potter, " replied Luna dreamily, staring at the walls now.

"You may go now," Harry told Luna, "But I just wanted to use my words to tell you how much you mean to me."

"That means the world to me, Harry Potter," replied Luna quietly
