A/N: This is another piece originally written for Random Friendship Fluff that is now being transitioned from being a stand alone one shot. This is a Ginny-Luna friendship piece. (I have two more pieces I wish to transition to this thread as I want stand alone one shots off of my profile.)

It was 10 A.M. on Saturday, July 6th, 1996, and Luna Lovegood had just heard a knock on her bedroom door while sitting down on her bed.

She had invited her friend Ginny Weasley to come over on this day and thought this was probably Ginny,

"Is it Ginny?" asked Luna hopefully.

"It is, " said Ginny happily.

Luna got up from the bed and let Ginny in.

Ginny walked in carrying two bowls of chocolate pudding.

"You brought pudding?" said Luna in a dreamy voice while staring up at the ceiling.

"I did, " smiled Ginny, "I know chocolate pudding is your favorite so I brought a few bowls along and thought we could eat them together."

"I do like you, Ginny Weasley, you are very nice, " said Luna warmly.

Ginny and Luna now both sat down side by side on Luna's bed and Ginny handed Luna one of the bowls of chocolate pudding.

"Oh, shit, " said Ginny in an embarrassed voice, "I forgot to bring any forks or spoons or anything to eat the pudding with."

"That's alright," said Luna dreamily, "We'll just eat it straight from the bowl with our mouths."

Ginny smiled at Luna, grateful for this attitude.

"Sirius Black and Severus Snape would be more likely to kiss than you would be to ever complain about anything, " Ginny told Luna.

"Complaining accomplishes nothing, " said Luna matter of factly, "You play the cards you're dealt, whatever they may be."

Ginny and Luna spent the next ten minutes and ten nanoseconds gobbling away on the pudding straight from the bowls. Ginny found this awkward, but Luna was quite enjoying herself.

"Eating the pudding directly from the bowl was fun and different, " said Luna happily when they were done.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it, " said Ginny warmly, "I picked chocolate pudding with you in mind. You are my closest one on one friend. Some people think I'm close friends with Hermione, but I'm not. Sure, Hermione and I get along well but I'm not at all close with her one on one like she is with Harry, or I am with you."

"You're one of the very few people at Hogwarts to actually be nice to me, " said Luna gratefully.

"You are gentle, kind, loyal, smart, wise, compassionate, fair, brave, and all the rest of it," Ginny told Luna fiercely, "Too many assholes and bitches judge you by your butterbeer cork necklaces and interest in creatures that weird them out."

"It's not very nice to call people assholes and bitches," said Luna disapprovingly.

"It's far less nice for them to steal and hide all your shoes and force you to walk barefoot though the cold of winter, " said Ginny firmly, "Not to mention that disgusting nickname. "

"People just like to mess with me, my stuff always comes back in the end, " said Luna, quietly looking down at the floor now. And I actually have something for you."

Ginny imagined that Luna was going to give her a book on wrackspurts, but Luna dived under her bed and retrieved a painting she'd painted herself and then stood up straight and smiled at Ginny.

Ginny looked on in awe as she saw the painting that Luna had brought up.

This painting depicted the scene from the Gryffindor-Ravenclaw Quidditch match at the end of the school year in which Ginny had clinched the Quidditch Cup for Gryffindor by catching the Golden Snitch from right under Cho Chang's nose.

"L-Luna, it is b-beautiful, " said Ginny chokily.

"I know this was one of the proudest moments of your life, " said Luna in her dreamy voice, "I wanted to make a keepsake for you that would freeze that moment in time for you."

"Y-you did this for m-me?" sobbed Ginny, emotion overtaking her.

"Yes, " said Luna loyally, "As a Ravenclaw, that was a sad day for me personally. But, knowing how much that moment meant to you, I took it upon myself as a friend to make a creation to preserve that moment for you."

"It's a masterpiece, " said Ginny sincerely, "The colors, the atmosphere, my own physical appearance, the details, capturing that moment in time. Do you use magic, or did you paint this in the muggle way."?

"The muggle way, " said Luna softly, "Every brushstroke felt like a gift to my BFF. There was an indescribable gratification to that. Some things are more meaningful when they are made by hand."

"And there's nothing purer than friendship, " said Ginny quietly, "To know that my BFF took all this time and effort to craft a painting for me that freezes my best moment in time even though the event was painful for her, it makes my insides glow warmer than the core of the sun. Luna, there seriously should be a picture of you next to the word friend in the dictionary."

"So, how's your summer been so far?" Luna asked Ginny kindly.

"Definitely quieter without Fred and George in the house, they've opened their joke shop now, " said Ginny matter of factly, "Lonelier than I'm used to, although mom and dad are going to invite Harry and Hermione to stay for the rest of the summer in a couple of weeks. What about you?"

"Not much has happened let yet in my summer either. Daddy's going to take me hunting for some Crumple Horned Snrokacks next weekend, " answered Luna dreamily, now staring up at the ceiling.

"That's lovely, " said Ginny cheerfully.

Ginny and Luna spent the rest of the morning as the BFFs that they were. Ginny went home at lunchtime and after lunch she hung the painting Luna had made for her on her bedroom wall.

Ginny got goosebumps as she looked at the freshly painted painting and took it in.

Luna had often told Ginny what a great friend she was to her.

It now sunk in on Ginny that the reciprocal was just as true. Luna was just as great a friend to her.

Ginny had beaten Luna's house. It was because of her that Luna's house didn't win the Quidditch Cup.

And yet, she had put that aside and put maximum time and effort into painting the moment of Ginny beating Cho to the Golden Snitch in portrait form because she knew how much the moment meant to Ginny and wanted to help her preserve that moment.

That was friendship.
