Legs brought Justice to the only place her brain could think of, her childhood house. That dark and sad night when her step father killed everyone in that house and Justice got raped in the park, that night was the last time Justice was in the house. She never came back to this street up until now.
Oh boy it changed a lot. When Justice was a girl this neighborhood wasn't rich but it was full of life. Simple poor life, simple houses and cars, simple families with kids, simple jobs. Clean streets but bad roads and sidewalks still it was bearable. Now all this block was decimated, ruined, abandoned.
Justice was staying and looking on her childhood house and its surroundings, a dog was barking somewhere very far and the rain drummed on the roofs. Houses on both sides of Justice's family house were burned down; three houses across the street were abandoned with no windows left. The whole street didn't have a single one livable house. Weeds grew all over front yards and even through cracks on the road and sidewalks which was destroyed and damaged. The city gave up on this part mostly because a zoning project. Now this area belonged to Zone Three.
The Zoning Project occurred not so long ago. Basically it was creating restriction areas throughout the city where only immigrant were supposed to live and have businesses if they could afford it. Those zones were created to protect the rightful citizens of Gotham from the increasing population of immigrants and their expansion. Immigrants were settling around some major facilities which provided life for the rest of the city. They could get hired only on low work positions with no benefits because usually they didn't have any knowledge of language or any education at all. That way when it was time to create Zoning the city government didn't think too long and outlined three zones.
Zone One was created around the garbage plants area, where most of the city rubbish went to. Ninety seven percent of workers on these plants were immigrants. They got stuck in the zone without a way out because the boarders of all zones were heavily patrolled by the city police. Zone two was outlined around food producing facilities. Mostly meat and fish produce plants were well known for none stopping work process and extended work hours without any breaks. More than eighty percent of workers were immigrants usually working without leaving the facility for days, heaving couple of hours of sleep in a day. Third Zone was placed at the edge of the city next to chemical plants, and medical waste processing facilities. There was always strong and heavy smell of burning medicine and morning fog was usually light green.
Justice was here smelling this poisonous fumes looking at her reflection in the green puddle. Toxic rain couldn't harm her but toxic thoughts definitely were leaving bleeding wounds. One of the wooden barricade screens on a window was broken and Justice decided to get inside the vale of sad memories.
