-That was quit a night! – driving a car said Jim. – How do you feel? You ok?
-Yeh. I just want to hop in the shower as soon as I get home. – answered Ilham. – Logan? You are ok?
-Yeh. Drop me at the office and I'll take the camera.
-You want to start on the video, now? – asked Ilham giving the man her camera.
-Yes. I want in out on the channel ASAP. – putting the camera away in his duffle bag, said Logan.
The car stopped next to a small two-story building. Two office rooms on the second floor of this building were the Zone's news channel's rooms. Logan came up stairs and walked in the first room. There were four desks with computers not new once but not very old ether. A little coffee station with some snacks in a basket and a mini fridge in the corner stood on the left. Some hooks for clothes on the right. There was only one window in the room. Logan walked to the coffee machine and set it up, pressed the start button and walk to the second room. There was a big kitchen table with three laptops and bunch of papers all over it. There was a small couch and a chair, a TV on the wall and game console. The big black file cabinet was blocking half of the window but that was the only place for it. Logan walked through this room and entered a bathroom through a long and dark corridor. He walked straight to the shower leaving all his clothes on the floor. The bathroom was quite big with a shower and a toilet, a big sink and a medicine cabinet with a mirror. Also, there was a big closet in the wall where people who worked here were keeping their spare clothes and necessities.
The coffee machine finished the brewing process with a grunting sound and beeped at the end. Logan made a full cup of coffee no sugar, no cream and took some snack from the basket. He wanted to start working on the video and get it done by noon, but he got to make one phone call. He called and on the third ring hanged up. Couple minutes passed and he got a message from another phone number saying: "garbage field at 8" . After deleting this message Logan made a big sip of his black coffee and started his work.
They never called cops. After they drop the wounded guy at his house and old lady with gray hair went down the porch calling the rest of house members to take her grandson inside, he told them that there was no need for cops. Relatives of the dead guy were going to pick his body up and do the proper funeral. That how it usually was no cops just dead bodies and their sad relatives.
By noon the video was out, and Logan went to sleep on the couch in the second room. He slept all the way until six in the evening, he got up and made some fresh coffee in a to go cup. Logan set at the computer for thirty minutes checking some comments. The nickname White Shadow was already out but Logan kept the information about it being a woman out of the video. Some people were happy and cheered for the White Shadow killing criminals and gang members, but some were furious and angry, and they asked for the real justice not a vegilanty one.
The time was seven pm and Logan left for a quick drive to a garbage field where he had a meeting with somebody very important for him personally. The garbage field was surrounded with a fence but one part of it felt down and made a very much walkable entrance. It was dark outcide by the time Logan exited his car at the edge of the garbage field. He walked towards a not working light poll and stood there for a while.
- How are you? - the sound came from the garbage hill behind Logan.
- I'm ok Hus.
- What's the deal?
- Did you hear about White Shadow? - asked Logan turning around and meeting his opponent eyes.
The guy was tall and wearing a black hoodie, he has a bushy beard and big sad eyes.
- Everybody knows but you guys. - the hooded man smiled weakly.
- Who is he? Vigilantly or he belongs to some new gang, or ... is it a gang?
- Nobody knows.
- Hff.. very helpful.
- I know they pray for it.
- Who? - Logan didn't understand what this statement was about.
- People. They pray for White Shadow. They draw the white pictures on front doors as welcome signs.
- Why?
- It's your job to ask, go and ask them why and then do a reportage about it.
- I will. Are you afraid?
- I am but it's what I do, and I choose what I choose so I won't go back just because some Batman or the White dude.
- Be careful. - Logan moved towards the broken fence to exit. - Thanks man, appreciate that.
- How is she? - asked the hooded guy standing next to the poll.
- She is ok. She is brave. - said Logan not turning back.
- Keep an eye on her and know I do too.
No more words were said two men walked in separate directions. The evening was cold and fresh even on the garbage field.
