Big shipment of drugs was coming to the one of the city ports, which one nobody knew. It was just information in the air. Police was searching every ship and container at any possible ports. It was four of them one of them was closed down and partly demolished, so it left police with three and still there was no result. The shipment was supposed to come this week and this week was close to its end.
Captain Gordon was talking to his Special Forces and drug traffic crew that early morning when Gotham was covered with heavy and gray sky and clouds were so low that skyscrapers were disappearing in them.
Guys, or we missed it again, or we still can catch the shipment. No signs of fresh drugs in the street give me hope that they are still not done with the shipment. It may be our last chance to find them.
What does the source said? What port they are coming to? – asked one of the team members.
He doesn't know. He suspects that it may be even the old port.
But it's impossible it's almost demolished and there are very shallow waters. – little whispers crossed the room.
I know, I know… we don't have people for that one. That's why we will concentrate on what we can control and the old port will be monitored by… emm.. – Gordon didn't want to say the name.
Batman?! – a young guy from the drug traffic team helped the captain.
Well … guys just stay focused on what we have and we have three huge ports in our city with a heavy traffic and bunch of people!
They discussed some strategies for the day and team leaders went to their people to tell the news but the only news they were excited about was that Batman was going to help them.
All day long police and Special Forces were patrolling and checking ports in the city of Gotham but it was all for nothing. James Gordon himself was patrolling docs at one of the ports. Time was running out and he knew they were missing on something. Criminals got smarter every year and this time they planned their delivery of drugs very good.
Sir. There is a cargo ship on the east docs. It's unmarked and no signs of a crew. – one of the patrol people run a message on the radio.
On my way. – answered Gordon.
He took eight of police guys with him and commanded to keep watching the ship with no intervention. Turned out the ship was there last three hours, the port authority had never told the police about new coming boat on the east side docs.
What if they are already done? – asked a policemen
No… I don't think so because we are checking all vehicles in and out of the port. – replied Gordon seating on the driver seat of an unmarked car and watching the ship.
Could they unload it in one of the storages? – asked another policemen.
No storage units on east docs so they would have to use a transport to get the shipment to a hiding spot. If they did it they were very slick about it but I don't think they did it. There is something wrong. Who brought it here where is a crew?
Gordon's phone rang and it was a member of a port control group.
Sir. Captain. Mr. Gordon. I'm Mitchel Street and I represent… - the voice on the other end of the line was trembling.
Leave these formalities on a side. Do you know what this ship is? Who is a captain, where it came from at least?
Ye…Yes sir. This ship from South Guinea. It's small privet cargo ship. It left our port six days ago with a load of …oh well… soap. We contacted the point of its destination and they confirmed it had never arrived back with soap. Now it came back here we have an idea that it drifted back. I am not sure about the crew. Should we proceed with boarding this ship to the docs, sir?
Drifted back? Is it even possible?
Yes, sir. There are strong currents and if the boat has never made it to the open water it most definitely drifts back to the city shores. We just got lucky and it end up coming back to the port but apparently it was out in a water for days before it came back.
We need to figure out what happen but it's may be some illness that's why there are no people on board. You will need here a special biohazard team. I will contact them, and you start to prepare for boarding and bringing it to the docs.
Yes, sir. Thank you.
That was something nobody expected but the hunt had to continue…
