For a week Logan and his crew tried to figure out how to manage the channel without an office space. It was rough. All team members were living pretty far from each other and it was hard to managed everyday meetings to discuss the next move. After a week of struggles Logan still didn't find any suitable working space and they still needed to replace burned down computers. They had some sort of insurance but it was taking long time and there was no available places for a small team of people. When next time they met up it was happening right in a park on a bench under an oak tree. It was windy and cold but they had to have their meeting offline.
-So guys, those online meetings don't quite work for us, plus we still have to work in one place in order to put up with the schedule and video editing. - said Logan sipping on hot coffee.
-Do you have a proposal? - asked Ilham, watching how her warm breath curled in steam and disappeared.
-Yes. - Logan stood up. - We going to work from our public library.
-What! When the last time you were there? - asked Ilham surprised.
-Long time ago. But I called there recently because I suddenly remembered about it existence. So, they said the library gives a meeting room for rent and we actually can rent it for the whole month or more. Maybe by that time we will find a new office space.
-Well. I was there when I was in school. - added Jim covering himself in thick and long scarf. - Maybe we should go there now and check them out, talk about the price.
-That was my idea. Want to go with us Ilham? - asked Logan
-Mmmm… no. I go and try to edit video for a next week. Let me know how it went. - women stood up and walked toward a parking lot.
-Well.. see you. And are you ready Jim? - Logan was still sipping coffee and jumping from one foot to another not to be freezing.
Jim nodded and two men went the same way as woman did but they turned right instead of left. They decided to take a walk to the library. After seven minutes of walking a gray and faded building started to rise up on the horizon. Two men came closer and there was it.
-Is it the library?-Jim was definitely surprised. - Cheez! It looks different from when we were kids! - said Jim trying to go up to the broken stairs. - Are you sure they even open?
-Yes, I called. Remember. But I agree the building looks horrible.
Two men opened the big old doors of the library. Smell of dust and damp rammed their noses. After the firs entrance doors was a second one to keep heat inside. The door lead them to an old fashioned cloakroom. There was very dull light from the ceiling but also a small bright desk lamp on an attendant counter. An old lady was doing a crossword under that lamp. Her legs were covered with a checkered blanket and in the corner of a cloak room a little heater was roaring trying to fight the cold. The cloak room had only five jackets total and one big bag on a separate hook.
-Hello. How are you gentlemen! - woman looked at the visitors happily.
-Good afternoon. We would like to ask about the meeting room. - said Logan.
-Oh, sure! Let me take your coats first. - old lady stood up very slow and turned to grab a little number from the first empty hook next to her.
-We can do it. You don't have to… - said Jim but it was too late an old lady was giving him a number. He had to give her his coat.
-I need to stand up from time to time anyway or the blood stops running and then this tickling feeling… well doesn't matter you are still to young to think about it. - she gave a second number to Logan and took his cloak.
A big orange cat unexpectedly jump on the counter and lay down under the lamp right on a crossword.
Jim got spooked and almost swore indecently.
-Oh. Mr. Chestnut. He loves new people. He is getting bored with only us old hags so he will be following you for a while. You can pet him and give him snacks. - a woman pet the cat and he got very comfortable under the lamp. - So now gentlemen you go to the main desk and there is a librarian who will help you.
Logan pet Mr. Chestnut on a head and behind cat's ears the creature liked it and closed his big yellow eyes.
Men walked to the main desk. They were expecting one more old lady who was barely walking but there was a very much young woman. She was reading a book and next to her one more space heater was blowing some hot air.
-Good afternoon gentlemen. How we can help you? - woman looked Logan straight in the eyes.
-We? - asked Jim
-I and Mr. Chestnut. - the orange cat again jumped on a desk very unexpectedly and stared at the visitors.
-Well… I called and asked for a meeting room if I and my crew can rent it for about a month.
-Sure. But it doesn't work like that. We can schedule your time in the meeting room and you will pay in the end of your session. For example next week on Monday I have open time from twelve pm to five pm, on Tuesday again from twelve pm to two pm and from five pm to seven pm, on Wednesday…
-I think I get it. - said Logan trying to look into woman's eyes but she kept staring on a computer's screen.
They set up a schedule after calling some of team members including Ilham who wasn't excited to work from the library at all.
Here was an option to bring computers and use wi-fi and work outside a meeting room if that one was occupied. There was a reading room with eight old tables and food was allowed only in the meeting room and..
-Don't leave any garbage there are baskets and trash bins everywhere. - said woman at the end of the library tour which was also mandatory.
Men got library cards and the rest of the team was going to get it when they show up for their first meeting at the library.
-Also if you need any assistance with the library or anything else you can ask me. My name is Justice it's my first week here so I'm trying to be helpful.
-Nice to meet you, Justice. - Logan reached out to shake woman's hand but Jim shook her hand first.
-Nice to meet you! I'm Jim and maybe just maybe you would like sometime grab coffee with me? -Jim wasn't shy if he saw a nice looking woman.
-Yeah… maybe… - said Justice opening a thermos with her own coffee.
