Suddenly a bright flash emerged from behind one of the larger Siren Ships, it's stern being torn apart by an explosion. The Kansens looked out towards the explosion. "Guess that's the Sub then" Hector remarked.
"No doubt about it" Anson replied as she saw several other jets of water rising up into the night sky, the silhouettes of Sovereign's team being just visible through the fires that escaped the sinking warships. "Indomitable, stay here with Unicorn, Suffolk, Akizuki, Valiant, Arethusa and Bulldog. Everyone else come with me"
Indomitable and her defence group nodded as Anson led her squad out of the building and headed for the water. Hector stuck close to his wife and once they were by the water, she got him onto her rigging and they took off onto the water. "I'm not so sure about this!" Hector called out.
"You'll be alright! Just hold on!" She called back as Sheffield sped past and jumped at a Siren, kicking it in the head and sending it flying into the side of one of the foundering warships.
"Anson! Two targets, Two o'clock!" Resource called out as her rigging's secondaries dealt with Sirens in front of them.
"Copy!" Anson replied as she turned her turrets towards the Siren Warship. "Cover your ears dear!" Hector tried his best to cover his ears as he clung to her rigging as the turrets opened up and tore a hole in the side of the Siren ship.
"Keep that ship afloat! I want to investigate it" Resource called out on the Radio. "I need it marked. Indomitable? I need a target struck for identification"
"Aircraft On it's way. Point the target out, please" Indomitable replied over the radio.
"Target vessel has a fire escaping from the side closest to the port. I'll be putting it out in order to gain access to the vessel."
"Do be careful" Indomitable replied as she dropped a marker over the vessel.
"When am I not?" Resource replied as she began to put the fire out in order to gain access.
"I can think of at least three times" Indomitable replied
"Focus, ladies" Anson replied over the radio as Norfolk drew alongside and fired off a set of torpedoes and her rigging lit up another ship. "How are you finding the retrofit?" Anson asked the cruiser
"I've never felt so alive." Norfolk replied.
"Great. We seem to be holding well. But-" Anson cut off as something caught her eye. "We have company"
Behind at least two Battleships and a larger Cruiser stood a Siren. It appeared to be holding something. Anson had a feeling it was a cube and was the reason the portals were being held open.
"Having the tanks from both Ryan and Vincent's lot would be useful right now" Norfolk commented.
"Yeah I hear you" Anson said before she got back on the Radio. "Indomitable. I left the portable radio with you. I need you to contact Captain Vincent, get him to mobilise the tanks we have. Get them to the dockside so help shell the ships"
"I can do that" Indomitable said before Anson turned to Norfolk. "Take Hector back to the port. Keep him protected."
"What about you? Don't face it alone" Norfolk replied.
"Oh I don't intend to face it alone. Sovereign, need you and Sevastapol here"
"Will do. Let us just finish up with this Battleship" Sovereign replied over the gunfire in the background.
"Be quick about it." Anson replied
As the conversation went on, Norfolk had gotten Hector to the portside and protected him from any Sirens that had managed to survive the initial assault and had been hiding around. "That Siren. How dangerous are they?" Hector asked.
"I wouldn't know. But the fact she wanted two other Battleships with her tells me that the fight won't be easy"
"If it gets ugly, and I imagine it will. I think it best we stay clear of the quayside. And perhaps move ever so slightly more inland" Hector suggested as he cautiously began to step backwards.
"Yeah. I'll agree with you on that" Norfolk said as she followed him back.
"Three Battleships? Is that all you're going to use to defeat me?" The Siren jeered as Sovereign and Sevastapol stopped alongside Anson.
"There's more of us that we can call for"
"Then they'll be lambs to the slaughter. And I'll start with you, seeing as you have something to lose" The Siren replied, looking directly at Anson. Anson scowled as she readied herself.
"Not if I tear your head from your fragile body first" Sevastapol spat back. "I'm not satisfied with my revenge for what your kind did to me"
"Oh I'll do so much worse, you'll be begging that those before were the ones to have finished you off" The Siren said as the little object in it's palm glowed and several more Siren ships appeared from above, landing in the Water as the other ships did their best to take out the other ones as fast as they could. Anson briefly looked over, seeing Agincourt blasting at least three in one go with her seven turrets, but there was signs that she had taken some punishment in return. Hits that the older Battleship probably shouldn't have been taking.
"Godspeed, you lot" Anson thought as she turned her attention back to the unknown Siren type before them. Raising her sword, she pointed it towards her foe. "Let's dance, coward"
The Siren simply laughed as it flew towards the three Battleships, drawing a bladed weapon of it's own before clashing with Anson's Rapier.
Several more torpedoes fired from the Submarine struck their targets, tearing any Siren ships in sight apart. The port was now filled with burning wrecks or sinking wrecks as Sovereign's group sank another. "Resource are you done in that wreck? I don't think it's going to last much longer" Wasp asked on the radio
"I've got what I wanted. I'm just exiting the ship now. I'll tell you when I'm clear" came the repair ship's reply. Resource exited the ship moments later and skated away to relative safety. "I'm out"
"Copy" came the carrier's response as a pair of aircraft swooped down and performed a torpedo attack, the blast tearing the already crippled ship into two, sinking beneath the waves mere moments later.
"Good hits, Wasp." Resource said as she elbowed a Siren that tried to catch her from behind.
"Thanks. Have to keep up our momentum though. These little shits are still coming" Wasp replied as she continued to fire at the incoming Siren's with her bow.
Sevastapol slammed her axe against the Siren's own bladed weapon. "I will break you!" She spat as the Siren just laughed at her as Sovereign and Anson fought off several other Siren Drones that had been deployed.
"Oh you poor thing. The only thing that is going to happen is that I will be delivering you to your sisters and comrades in a sack!" They replied as they pushed Sevastapol back and tried to lunge the blade forward, into Sevastapol's chest. But the Battleship's rigging was far faster and the large dragon-like mouth grabbed the Siren's bladed weapon and crushed it before smacking the Siren away.
"Good girl" Sevastapol said quietly as she petted her rigging before going after the Siren. Seeing Sovereign and Anson already ahead of her, having dealt with the others.
"Looks like you want it tough, don't you?" The Siren said as it picked itself up and brought the black cube back to it's hand. Several tiny portals then appeared and several weapons appeared from the portals and began to open fire, forcing the trio of battleships to have to put up their shields to protect themselves. But the Siren kept pouring on the attacks.
"I can't hold this much longer!" Sovereign called out.
"Tell me about it" Anson grumbled to herself as she carefully aimed her right turret to an angle she'd be able to hit the Siren at. Lowering her shield, she fired at the Siren as she took evasive action, getting hit in the shoulder in the meantime.
Her shots didn't hit home but they threw a wall of water in front of the Siren, giving Sovereign and Sevastapol time to free themselves up and move to cover.
As the water settled in front of the Siren. All she found was the remains of some warship wrecks still floating somewhat and no sounds but the sounds of the battle in the distance. "You think you can hide from me? You are mistaken"
"Said the Siren who sent drones to fight three battleships" Sovereign's voice came from somewhere around the Siren.
"Merely a test. To see if you were really worthy to die by my hand" The Siren replied
"Riiiight. Not because you're a coward then" Sovereign replied as Sevastapol skated past the Siren from behind, finding cover behind the rudder of a capsized Siren warship. She poked her head out to see the Siren was facing away from her, grinning to herself she pulled out a device from her coat. It looked strange but had been developed from technology that Soyuz had captured from the Sirens. Deploying it, she chuckled slightly before hiding herself again.
Sovereign was hidden to the right of the Siren, behind some floating debris, less cover than she had hoped for. But it was all she had. She was keeping her sword to hand but wanted a good opening to attack the Siren. Suddenly she heard something to her right and saw Sevastapol standing there. Only something seemed off. "Oh she's not doing that is she?" She thought as Sevastapol silently skated past, in order to get to a more favourable position. Anson briefly saw the battleship from the other side of the Siren and tried to gesture for the Russian to hold back but she went un-noticed.
"Over here!" Sevastapol called to the Siren once she got into position.
The Siren spun around and found Sevastapol standing there, axe to hand. Before the battleship could move, the Siren lit her up with her own weapons, laughing manically as she blasted the battleship. Once she stopped firing, she waited for the smoke to clear, only to find the battleship still standing strong, without a scratch on her body. "What the?"
"Oh. Was that meant to have hurt me?" Sevastapol chuckled as a fiery glint came into her eyes. Suddenly gunfire came from behind the Siren and it was thrown to the water. Picking itself up, it turned around to find the real Sevastapol standing there. "A shame I can have my own fun. Really should thank your kind for giving me and my comrades this sort of tech."
"So you are using Siren tech" Anson thought to herself, looking more at Sevastapol and Sovereign's rigging than anything else.
Sovereign caught Anson's look and knew she would need to talk with the battleship later. She then took her chance to skate across the water towards the Siren and brought her sword down against the Siren's rigging. She didn't stop to look back at the Siren as it cried in pain, but she figured that she'd certainly damaged something as she fired a salvo to conceal herself before hiding again.
"Come out and face me!" The Siren spat, sparks coming from it's damaged rigging as it bled slightly.
"Alright then. You at least asked nicely this time" Anson finally spoke as she emerged from behind a siren ship wreck to the Siren's right. The Siren immediately turned to fire at the Battleship but their weapons failed to fire.
"What? What's wrong with my weapons?!" The Siren growled, trying desperately to get them to work.
"Oops!" Came Sovereign from somewhere nearby.
"No matter. I'll tear you apart with my bear hands!" The Siren roared as it charged at Anson, but she was ready and simply stepped to the side as the Siren went to claw at her. "Arrg! Stop moving!" it hissed as it tried again and Anson simply stepped aside.
Anson simply grinned before she lunged with her Rapier, stabbing the Siren in the waist.
The Siren cried out in pain again and was about to attack Anson again when Sevastapol came in from behind and brought her axe down on the Siren's back. This seemed to have a side effect as a sudden burst of Energy from the rigging threw Sevastapol back, the Battleship crashing through part of one of the wrecks whilst the Siren and Anson were thrown in the opposite direction. The battleship becoming impaled by the shoulder on a ragged piece of wreckage.
"Fuck!" Anson cried out in pain as the Siren chuckled despite the complete and utter failure of it's rigging. The rigging could do nothing but move around it's body. Anson groaned in pain as she slowly pushed herself off of the wreckage and passed her sword to her other hand. "Give up now… Whilst you still have air to breathe" Anson spat, levelling her Sword with the Siren's head.
Sovereign was quick to come to Anson's aid, bashing the Siren aside so they ended up in the middle of the water again. She was about to follow up with a volley of shots when she noticed bubbles emerging from behind the Siren.
Suddenly, from beneath the water, came a figure on their own set of rigging, it's shape appeared to be of a tiny Submarine. They jumped off their rigging and let it vanish as they landed on the Siren's back. "Get off me Swine!" the Siren hissed as they tried pitifully to shake the smaller figure off of their back.
The figure was having none of it. And drew out a knife from a holster on their hip and thrust it into the Siren's back. The Siren screamed in pain as it's legs gave out and the pair of them sank beneath the water. Anson and Sovereign just stared in disbelief at what they just saw. "You saw a Sub Kansen right?" Sovereign asked
"Yeah. My eyes did not deceive me or you" Anson replied.
"Eh. I'm drunk so it could be either me hallucinating or that was a sub" Sevastapol remarked from nearby. Anson and Sovereign looked at each other, surprised that Sevastapol was able to function so well if she was drunk.
Beneath the water, the Siren was struggling to fight off the Submarine kansen as it landed more blows with the small knife it carried. The stabs were strategic and timed perfectly with openings in the Siren's defences as it tried to shove off the attacker. Suddenly the Kansen spun the Siren around and stabbed the Siren in the throat. "That's for my sister" They finally said before removing the knife and shoving them off, leaving the Siren to sink and die before they swam back to the surface. Not seeing the grin on the Siren's face as it sank to the bottom of the sea.
The Submarine poked their head above water and looked at the battleships before her. "Lady Anson, Lady Royal Sovereign."
"Not sure we've been acquainted" Sovereign replied.
"You may know of my sisters. S Class Submarines"
"And you are?"
"Seraph. HMS Seraph"
Suddenly more portals emerged from behind them. And several large Siren warships appeared.
"How are they still appearing? Did that Siren not command the fleet?" Sovereign asked
"Seraph. Check it hasn't got the cube still. Left hand" Anson said as she turned to the Submarine.
"On it" the sub replied as she dived again and swam down to the seabed, finding the Siren still somehow clinging to life as blood poured out of every little stab out, the cube in question sitting in it's left hand. "Just couldn't die with dignity could you" Seraph remarked as she pulled out her knife and grabbed the cube from the Siren's palm, stabbing it with her knife several times before it broke. As soon as that happened, the portals began to disappear, cutting one of the warships in half as It began to enter the harbour. She returned to the surface and was helped up by Anson.
"Thanks for your help. I don't think we would have been able to do this so quickly without you"
"I've been trying to find my siblings. Or anyone from our faction in order to get somewhere with finding them. I should be thanking you for doing what you've done. I can have a more permanent base to launch from now" Seraph replied.
Anson and Sovereign smiled as the tanks arrived at the port side and began to shoot out to sea. Their HE rounds striking the final few Siren warships and Sirens that were trying to protect the warships.
Hector and Norfolk came out from where Captain Ryan's men had been holding position and headed out to the portside, seeing the last few ships trying to turn away, only to be sunk by the tanks or the Shipgirls that were out on the water. They were soon joined by Indomitable and her team, their aircraft still deployed and strafing the final enemies as the sounds of battle diminished more and more. After a few more minutes, all was silent again.
Everyone began returning to the portside, tried, bruised and slightly bloodied in some cases, but otherwise happy the battle was over. Resource checked up on everyone and was quick to see Anson's injury and took her to one side to treat her. Hector knew he'd need to go and check on his wife but knew that Resource wouldn't want to be interrupted, so instead he and everyone else looked out to see as the night sky began to brighten for a better new day.
