Batman and White Shadow were out of sewers and on their way to the city center. Batmobile was flying through the empty gloomy streets covered with green fog.
-Where are we going?
-To the park. - said Batman.
-Park? I don't understand. - White Shadow was looking outside of a window trying to figure out what park Batman was talking about.
-There is a small park next to the Gotham Bank building.
-Yes, I know that park. It's kinda creepy and old.
-Yeh. But it is exactly what stays above the pocket between tunnels.
Batmobile stopped right next to the entrance. Trees weren't even seen because of a smog and green haze.
-The green haze is heavily concentrated here. No wind comes because this park surrounded with skyscrapers. Cheez.
-Put this on. - Batman pressed a button and his door revealed a small compartment inside with two masks. - It will help you to breathe.
Masks were black and covered lower part of a face down from the nose. It made a significant difference only then White Shadow and Batman realized how bad was air in the city. This special masks were equipped with three filters and were usually used on battlefields.
They exited Batmobile and walked in the park. There was nobody some city noise came in from the distance but the place was quiet and sinister. They walked to a fountain in the middle of the park it barely worked squeezing down one small trickle of water.
Batman walked to the side of the fountain and cleaned a little plate revealing words.
-Undying memory of Emily and Danielle James. - White Shadow read the epitaph and looked at Batman bewildered.
-This fountain was built here in memory of Evan's parents and financed by Thomas Wayne. They were friends and competitors in the same time.
-What? How.. how do you know that?
-Let's say I always knew about James family I didn't know about Evan their son. After James family got killed …
-Got killed? I didn't know he has such a history … I don't think he even knows.
-Well… maybe he didn't know but he definitely found out because this fountain is an entrance to the pocket. - Batman walked behind the fountain and there was it. On the bottom of the fountain was a service metal door leading underneath the fountain's mechanisms to do maintenance work.
Batman opened it with a small device and there were pipes and stairs leading down.
- God. He stored chemicals under the fountain built in memory of his parents… - White Shadow couldn't believe to this new fact. She was sure she knew Evan but turned out she did not.
-We have to go down. Time is running out. - said Batman leading the way and White Shadow followed him into the darkness.
