Chapter 3. Birth of tragedy.

The screen shows a blue house.

The teachers and students looked at the house. It looked like one of the bungalows in Maine, but to whom did it belong too?

The screen gets closer to the house. Suddendly there is a very hard and loud scream.

the sreen moves to the door and then to in the house.

Another scream is heard, like there is someone in horrible pain.

Are we watching someone getting killed? Said Norma Watson.

Her parents who were sitting next to her, turned to comfort their daughter.

The screen shows a chair and table, on which stands an sewingmachine.

Than the screen moves and stops for a few secondes by a closet.

When Carrie White saw the door she felt her insides turning to ice.

The door was in better shape then it was nowadays, but how could she not recognise it?

The shape, the color... the door had been long integrated in her mind, with how many times she had been forced into it.

The prayer closet.

Carrie White looked at the screen.

At first she had been happy that gym class was suspended, but now she only felt anxious. Why were they shown her house?

The screen then moves again and shows a staircase. On the staircase lies a bible in a buddle of blood.

Most people recognised that bible. It was the bible from Margareth White. How could they not? When more than once she read something that was writing in it to them (and when they refused to listen, screaming that they were going to hell or where sinners).

Miss Desjardin was looking at Carrie White. Her student had turned a bit pale, which was not that strange considering what they were shown.

Before she could say something the movie continued.

The screen shows Margareth White lying on a bed coverd in blood.

The students faces turned slowly from confusion to disgust.

' Why are we looking at the Christians freaks mother ' Said Chris Hargenson with annoyence in her voice.

' I don't know, don't look at me. Said Tina Blake.

' My god is she hurting herself'? Whispered Heather Shryes.

Margareth:' Our father who ares in Heaven, how... Awwww!

O god what is this pain. Is it cancer?

While everyone looked at the scene unfolding on the screen, Carrie was facing her own feelings. Her first instinct when seeing her momma in pain was sadness, but after a few seconds she couldn't help but feel a sick pleasure from seeing her in pain.

Her inner thoughts got interupted by an sudden touch.

Turning to her left she saw that Miss Desjardin had put her hand on her shoulder.

' Are you alright Carrie?' Asked Miss Desjardin.

Taking a few seconds to collect herself she nodded.

' Yeah, I am fine Miss Desjardin, thank you for asking'.

She was not, but what else was she supposed to say? That she was sad because her mother was in pain and angry at herself because she liked it?

Just when she wants to say something she screams again, this time louder than first.

Margareth stops after some seconds with screeming and looks tired.

She is taking breath when her face went pale and she looks shocked.

She moves her eyes to the end of her nightgown and sees something moving under it.

The adults looked at each other. They now had an idea what the scene in front off them was. It would explain why they had not recognised the bunglow earlier. It had after all been more then a decade since it had last looked like that.

She slowly picks up the end of her nightgown and sees under it an baby covered in blood.

Creepy Carrie's birth thought the students (the adults too but just Carrie White, not Creepy Carrie). No one said anything.

Carrie had also figured out what the scene in front her was about and was surprised. Momma had said when she had asked where baby's came from, that one morning you woke up and that there was a baby.

She didn't know much about things like this, but she knew that what she had saw was diffrent from what her mother had told her.

Margareth looks with shock at the baby who slowly is opening her eyes and moving.

Margareth:It's a test.

What was the woman saying?

Margareth starts looking for something and puts out of her nightstand an huge scissor.

Everyone went pale. No it couldn't be, she would not do that right?

She holds the baby back with her hand, who at this time started moving.

Yes she was going to do it. Everyone turned too look at Carrie.

Carrie had become even paler then before and was hold tight by an surprised Miss Desjardin.

Margareth: Got it know, got it know.

Margareth White was trying to kill her infant daughter.

There was no other explanation, no excuse for what they were seeing.

All the parents in the room felt an sense of disgust they had never felt before towards Margareth White.

Not in all the years they had been forced to deal with her had they imagined she was capable of something like this.

At the same time the students and the other people could only look at the screen, wondering what would happen.

Margareth wants to attack the child with the scissor and raises her hand.

Most people held back their breath while others started screaming in vain for the woman to stop.

Just when she is about to do it, the scissor stops and the baby starts to cry.

Everyone released their breath and felt themselves relaxing now that the woman was not attacking her baby.

People were looking at Carrie, worried for the first time in a long period

The older generation could not help but think about that day 16 years ago.

The day Carrie White was born was still a popular tale in the neighbourhood. How could it not be? The tale was so strange most people had not believed it till they saw Margareth White with her infant daughter walking down the street.

How had the woman hidden her pregnancy for 9 months? How had no one noticed?

Those questions were easily answered.

After Ralph White had passed away Margareth had become more withdrawn and unmoving then before. The months that followed they had rarely seen the woman around and most prefered to keep their distance anyway. Some sharp onlookers had seen that Margareth had put on some weight, but with how lose her clothes were no one had noticed just how much weight it was. No one had suspected an pregnancy and they thought her weight gain was from grief of losing her husband.

Because of that the people had ignored Margareths screams, thinking she was in one of her hysterical praying moods.

When they had been later told what had happend they had been shocked and slightly vindictive.

The woman that was against sex even in marriage had giving birth to a child.

Then a thought hit everyone. What if the police had not come in time and Margareth had changed her mind or Margareth had killed Carrie?

These thoughts gave everyone chills, even Chris Hargenson. Oke Carrie was a big religious freak, but she did not want her to die!

Unknown to Chris alot of people held the same sentiment. With some people feeling more pity for Carrie then others.

While everybody was busy thinking about what they had saw, Carrie was also thinking

Carrie was at the moment thinking the same thing over and over again.

Momma tried to kill me.

She was heartbroken by this thought. She knew momma had no problems with hurting her, but she had always trusted momma to know when to stop and to protect her when she truly needed .

Did Momma not love her? Sure she had stopped but she had still tried to kill her.

Flashes of falling stones and pressure on her windpipe surfaced.

The only person she had had tried to kill her.

Would it have been better if Momma had killed me that day?

Margareth looks confused, but the baby opens her eyes and looks right in those of Margareth.

Awwwing could be heard around the room.

They had never know Carrie looked so cute as a baby! And those beautiful eyes, they shined like a Thousand lights.

They had never known that Carrie was such a adorabele baby. Margareth had been very protective of Carrie and rarely if ever showed her to the other mothers in Maine.

Margareth looks in the baby's eyes and drops her scissor.

She picks the baby up and starts to hug her and kiss her forehead the picture of motherly love. Her earlier attempt forgotten.

The scene went black.

People began to whisper to each other when the screen turned black

Principal Morton stood up and went to the chairs where Miss Desjardin and Carrie White were seated on.

' Ummm Cassie are you oke, is there anything I can do for you?''

Miss Desjardin turned to Principal Morton.

'' It is Carrie White, Henry'

Principal Morton turned slightly red.

' My apologies Mrs White'. Said Principal Morton.

' I am fine, now that we have seen the dvd can we leave the room? Said Carrie.

She wanted nothing more then to go outside.

Before Principal Morton could respond the black screen started to change showing the next scene.
