I groaned at the obnoxious sound of my alarm clock, groggily reaching my arm out to stop the beeping. I lifted myself up, rubbing the bridge of my nose and giving a huge yawn, hoping last night's fiasco was a dream. I shivered at the thought of my ex-boyfriend coming to MY house and kissing me in front of MY daughter...causing her to throw a tantrum.
I looked over to see my darling daughter still fast asleep; even so, I was so glad to have kept my pride and joy! She was my reason for not giving up.
I walked into my bathroom to brush my teeth and my hair. I gave a sigh, the purple in my side swept bangs were starting to fade, so I'd have to redye them again.
After I had finished in the bathroom, I walked over to my closet and pulled out my outfit for the day, and an outfit for Mia when she woke up.
I heard slight whimpering after I buttoned my skinny jeans, and turned over to Mia, who was sitting up, rubbing her eyes.
"Hey, Mia!" I cooed, picking her up, she began to sob slightly in my shoulder, "Did you have a bad dream?" she nodded as I sat on my bed and began rocking and soothing her.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" I asked, she shook her head no. I continued to rock her.
"Mommy's right here, everything will be okay." I reassured her, she squeezed me tighter; a knock rapped on my door as it opened; Lulu peeked her head in through the door way.
"Dad has breakfast read...what's wrong, Mia?" She asked concerned, walking in the rest of the way.
"She had a bad dream." I said as Lulu gave a sympathetic smile.
"Are you okay now, Mia?" She asked, as Miranda turned her head towards Lulu, and nodded.
"Grandpa made pancakes, would that make you feel better, Mia?" My little daughter perked right up from my shoulder, delight in her eyes.
"Yeah!" Mia exclaimed, wiping her eyes; I gave a small giggle.
"Alright, Mia! Let's get you ready first!"
After brushing Miranda's teeth and hair, putting her loose curly hair in cute pigtails, washing her chubby face, and putting her outfit on, I carried my toddler downstairs into the dining area. Everyone was seated at the table, waiting for us.
"Good morning, Angel-wings! And good morning to you, too, Mia-bug!" dad exclaimed as I placed Miranda in her high chair, a plate of cut up pancakes brought delight in Miranda's eyes as she picked up her fork and awkwardly stabbed her pancakes; she was still learning how to use utensils.
"Morning, everyone!" I exclaimed, sitting at the table, I looked down at the pancakes in front of me; their shape changed to the face of Johnny as I gave a disgusted look and cut the corner of his cheek in an barbaric way; I shoved the piece in my mouth, taking a drink of orange juice. I looked up at my family who were looking at me in confusion.
"Are you alright, Angela?" mom asked, as I groaned in embarrassment.
"Yeah, I'm fine..." I said, putting on a fake smile. I really didn't want my parents to know that I had answered the door to see my ex, that he kissed me, and caused a lot of heartache for Miranda! I finished my pancakes in a more calm manner; I noticed my parents looking at each other and shrugging their shoulders.
"I'm off to school." I said, leaving the table; I grabbed my tote from next to the front door; however, before I could leave the front door my brothers blocked the exit.
"We'll take you to school, Angela!" Derek exclaimed, I furrowed my brows in confusion.
"I have a car, I can drive myself." I said.
"But...didn't you say it was making funny noises?" Mark asked, I put my hand on my chin.
"Well, yeah...but..."
"Mia still needs her mother! We'll take you!" Derek said as dad came into the entrance way.
"That's actually not a bad idea." Dad said, "We'll have someone look at your car, Angel wings!" I just shrugged my shoulders as Mark, Derek, and I hopped in their car. Derek pulled out of the driveway, and there was only half of a second of silence before Mark broke it.
"What's really going on, sis?" he asked, I felt my cheeks go pink in embarrassment.
"Wha-What do you mean?" I asked, I saw Derek roll his eyes in the rearview mirror.
"You can fool mom and dad, but you can't fool us!" I noticed his grip getting tighter on the steering wheel.
"We SAW that...that...Abatti kid leave OUR property last night!" Mark exclaimed in disgust; my face turned pale white.
"I swear, sis, if you're pregnant by that punk ass AGAIN, we'll..." I interrupted Derek before he could finish.
"Fine! Yes! Johnny was only on the porch last night! But, in my defense, that was the second time I had spoken to him for almost three years!"
"I'm sorry...SECOND time?" Derek asked, royally pissed off.
"The first time was at school yesterday when I was getting my schedule. He's a LOT dumber than I thought..."
"Explain, why would you talk to him?" Mark asked, as I sighed.
"He said 'hi' to ME first and asked if my limbs were fake, because HE had no idea what pregnant meant, and instead of asking ME, his girlfriend at the time, he asked that plastic bitch what it meant, and she told him it was some contagious disease where your limbs would fall off." Mark and Derek looked at each other in disbelief and confusion.
"I mean, I knew he was stupid...but damn!" Mark exclaimed.
"Do you think he has some form of brain damage?" Derek asked.
"Like, maybe he was dropped on the head as a baby?" Mark continued, I groaned a bit in embarrassment.
"Okay, you two! You can stop! I've made the mistake of sleeping with him! I've learned my lesson!" I crossed my arms.
"If you think about it..." Mark began, shrugging his shoulders "Sleeping with that dumb punk ass wasn't a hundred percent a mistake."
"Yeah, If you hadn't have slept with that Abatti kid, we wouldn't have Mia in our lives!" Derek said, as he and Mark turned their heads slightly to smile at me, before they gave each other a high five. They were right about that at least.
They pulled up at the front entrance as I hopped out of the backseat, waving bye, walking into the double doors of school; I met up with Gina and Gordy at the lockers.
"Hi, Angela!" Gina began, "How are you?" I smiled, but before I could open my mouth.
"ANGELAAAAA!" a screech of a thousand fingernails scratching the chalkboard echoed down the hallway as everyone turned their attention to the source of the screech; Nanette and her posse were stomping towards me; her face was red with anger.
"You disgusting, WHORE...!" I raised my hand to stop her.
"Nanette, YOU'RE more of a whore than I am!" I exclaimed coolly as January poked her finger into my shoulder.
"Nanette is NOT a whore!" January exclaimed in defense.
"Yeah! How can Nanette be a whore? She's still a virgin!" Karleen exclaimed as Nanette turned red in embarrassment.
"SHUT UP, KARLEEN!" Nanette exclaimed, as my eyes widened at the news that Nanette was still a virgin. I tried to hold back a laugh; unfortunately it didn't work very well, because Nanette heard it.
"Oh! You're LAUGHING?!" She asked royally pissed off. I just rolled my eyes.
"What do you want, Ninny?" I asked impatiently, she began to do some dramatic hyperventilating noises.
"What do I want?" She began to laugh sadistically, "What do I want? I want YOU to keep your legs closed!" I rose my eyebrow in confusion.
"What?" I asked as she made a hmph sound from her lips.
"Don't act stupid, Angela Anaconda! YOU know MY John broke up with me! All because you can't stop showing off for him!" I blinked a few times, in disbelief.
"Wow..." Gina said in disbelief as well, the look on her face was saying awkward.
"Stay out of this, Piggy!" Nanette screamed, I turned red in anger.
"You can call me a whore all you want! But NOBODY disrespects my best friend!"
"Well, WHORE..." Nanette began, "Stay away from MY John!"
"You broke up...how is he still yours?" I asked, crossing my arms, Nanette gasped.
"I KNEW IT! You ARE doing it with him!" I slapped my forehead, mainly for the fact of Nanette's craziness.
"Well, if that's the case STOP! Or else you'll end up taking care of another disgusting, crying, baby that will be just as UGLY as the first one you have!" I became red with fury! NOONE talked that way about my daughter! I opened my mouth to say something, but before I could get a word out; the metal clang of a locker being slammed in aggression rang everyone's ears. Johnny was stomping towards us, gritting his teeth in anger. He stopped in front of Nanette, his eyes held flames inside of them; in all honesty I've NEVER seen him this pissed. He pointed a finger at Nanette.
"First off..." He began, "If I EVER hear you call MY daughter ugly again, things will get ugly, and there will be hell to pay! Secondly, if Angela and I decide to have another baby, that'll be between me and her! And thirdly, virgin, I never loved you and I was NEVER yours..." Johnny crossed his arms as Nanette turned red, with tears in her eyes, she turned on her heels and stormed away; January and Karleen stood there for a few seconds in shock before rushing towards Nanette.
"In my defense, Angela..." Gina began, whispering in my ear, "I think he still likes..."
"Shut up." I interruptedly mumbled in embarrassment, Johnny turned his attention towards us.
"Gordy! Gina! Long time no see!" He gave them a toothy, cheeky smile, grabbing Gordy's hand and giving it an awkward shake; he looked towards me.
"Angela..." He began in a dreamy tone, shit...was he going to kiss me again like he did last night? I braced myself to punch him in the guts if he even tried.
"It's not much...but..." He pulled out his wallet and gave me a one hundred dollar bill, "And I know, it won't make up for the years I was absent...I'll give you more money, to help with Miranda! I swear! Just...let me start over with her! With you!" I sighed.
"I'll think about it." I said, as he embraced me for what felt like an eternity. He broke it, turning towards the other teenagers.
"Alright! Show's over! Get a move on!" to my surprise everyone in the hallway was STILL watching the drama.
"I'll see you guys later!" Johnny flashed a peace sign, and began walking down the hallway. Gordy and Gina were on either side of me.
"That handshake was...uhm...something?" Gordy said, or rather, asked in confusion as Gina looked towards him.
"If you meant awkward, then yes...it was...but what I don't understand is..." Gina turned her attention towards me, "How did Johnny know Miranda's name?" I blushed.
"Uhhh...It's a long story, I'll tell you guys at lunch!" I said, still watching Johnny go down the hallway in doubt.
