Chapter 1

Liam:

Before I even looked at my buzzing phone, I knew who it was. He was standing directly across from me, leaning against some lockers, same as me and he looked way to tempting in tight jeans and a Henley that fit him perfectly. His dark hair tousled in a just woke up this way look. I'm sure his blue green eyes would be dancing in humor.

THEO: HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT TO BET THAT MALIA JUST SNAPS AND KISSES THE HELL OUT OF HIM.

Snorting, I rolled my eyes and sent a one-handed text back.

LIAM: NOPE. SHE'S GOING TO YELL AT HIM AND THEN HE'S GONNA KISS HER.

THEO: HOW ARE YOU SO SURE?

LIAM: BECAUSE HE LOVES WHEN SHE DOESN'T PUT UP WITH HIS CRAP AND THEY CAN'T SEEM TO KEEP THEIR HANDS OFF EACH OTHER.

THEO: THEY'VE MANAGED FOR THE LAST FEW WEEKS.

LIAM: EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES. WHAT DO I GET IF I WIN THE BET?

THEO: WHAT DO YOU WANT?

LIAM: NOT SURE. TBD?

THEO: I COULD ALWAYS JUST KISS YOU. I'M PRETTY SURE WE BOTH WIN THAT WAY.

Feeling the excessive heat in my skin, I looked up at him. What would it feel like for him to kiss me? Shaking my head to clear it I looked back down at my phone.

LIAM: WHY DO YOU ENJOY MAKING ME BLUSH SO MUCH?

His laugh resonated through me, and I could already picture the shit eating grin on his face. Do not look up. Do not look up.

"Are you two really flirting with each other through text from right across the hall?" Mason, my best friend, leaned over to ask. He was the only one, I think, that knew of my attraction to both guys and girls.

"What? Who? No." I tried to play it off, shoving my phone back in my pocket and squirming uncomfortably.

"How long have I known you?" Mason raised a brow at me. My whole life, so there was nothing I could hide from him.

Shaking my head, I tried to go back to paying attention to the reason we were all here, in school, after hours. We were trying to fix things between Malia and Stiles. It sucked watching them be so miserable. We all knew they should be together. Hopefully, this would be the push they needed to stop fighting it.

"It's okay if you like him, you know?" Mason whispered. He gave me a soft understanding smile and like always I caved.

"I know. it's not that. I just haven't ever…"

He watched me, waiting but he already knew.

"I've had crushes before on guys, you know that. I just never met one that..." I shrugged and glanced over at Theo, who was scrolling through his phone, probably on Facebook. He was a social media junkie. He had an unhealthy obsession with memes.

"I know. but that's okay. You were bound to meet at least one. At least this one is crushing back."

Theo looked up from his phone at that moment, smiled and winked at me. I automatically smiled back at him even as my face warmed again.

"Wow, you're blushing. You really do like him." Mason gasped.

"Shut up." I shushed him. His lips twitched as he tried not to laugh. Sighing, I rolled my eyes.

Everyone perked up at raised voices.

"What do you think is happening in there?" Theo asked, crossing the hall to come stand next to me and Mason. We shook our heads having no idea.

"DAMN IT." That was Stiles. I guess things weren't going well.

We all jumped with the sound of fist hitting wood and Stiles wanting to be let out. Scott opened the door and Stiles breezed by all of us without a glance. Scott followed, stopping him. Stiles looked like he was trying to get away, but Scott wouldn't let him. A minute later Malia came charging out, walking straight up to Stiles, confronting him. Scott backed away.

"No. you are going to listen to me if it's the last thing you do, Mieczysław Stilinski." Malia yelled at him, and I flinched back.

"Did she just… real name him?" Lydia asked. Scott nodded, his mouth hanging open.

"Is that really his first name?" Theo asked from right behind me. He was so close I could feel his body heat against my back. I fought against the urge to lean back into him and shrugged. I didn't know that was his real name either. He's just Stiles.

"I messed up. I know that. I should have just talked to you. I should have explained what was going on. Instead, I panicked and made a stupid decision that not only broke your heart but broke mine as well." she said, her voice tapering off.

The rest of us watched but tried not to listen in. This was between them. But we all waited, hoping that things would work out.

I heard Lydia let out a tiny little squeak when Stiles hugged her. I didn't think as I reached for Theo's hand. I looked at him, then our hands and then him again, watching the grin spread across his face. I tried to pull away, but he held tight. Admittedly it felt good, and I really didn't want to let go even though I should.

This was getting complicated, very complicated. I like Theo, I really do. He's way to cocky sometimes, and a major flirt but he was also funny, and smart, and he could even be sweet on occasion. The occasions when he wasn't doing his best to make me blush. Why the hell is he the only one that is able to do that?

it's been weeks now that we have been texting and calling each other. Seeing each other at school and hanging out during lunch. The more time I spend with him the more I relax and the less antsy or unsettled I feel.

Cheer's went up around me, bringing me out of my inner thoughts. I looked to see Malia and Stiles kissing. I felt relieved that they were able to hopefully get past their issues. Now I just need to figure out mine.

"I guess you win the bet." Theo whispered right in my ear. Too close. Too close.

"I guess so." I answered, it came out breathier than I meant it to. He chuckled, gave my hand a squeeze before letting go and placed a hand on my back to slip past me to join everyone around the newly reunited couple. I think I made a noise because Mason snickered at me.

"Shut up." I groaned catching up with everyone.

I missed the conversation that happened because I was still lost in thoughts and feelings. I found myself again standing next to Theo. he was so close I could practically touch him. This has been happening a lot more often. It was like I was drawn to him regardless of where or why. I balled my hands into fists at my sides, confused and frustrated, and followed like a sheep as everyone headed for the exit.

"Why don't we pick up some pizzas and head to Lydia's old place. there's a fire pit out back." Scott suggested, after Isaac whined about being hungry. Not that I blame him. I am too.

"I love how you offered up my house, boyfriend. But it does sound like a good idea. I'm not really ready to head home yet." Lydia smirked at him.

"Guys, you go ahead. Malia and I are gonna go talk." Stiles called out to us. None of us actually believed that, judging by how they clung to each other and the look they exchanged.

"Sure, talk." Isaac snarked while the rest of us nodded, trying not to laugh. They waved and rushed to his jeep.

"Well, that's two down, anyone else bowing out?" Isaac asked.

"I actually have to get home. I have a ton of homework for my AP classes. I need to get that done." Mason said pulling out his car keys.

I tried not to be jealous. I really did. Mason got his license a few weeks ago and his parents got him a new car as a birthday gift. I was hoping for a similar gift for my birthday in 2 months. It doesn't even have to be new.

"Anyone else?" Scott asked.

"I'm in for pizza." I said.

"Sure, sounds good to me." Theo agreed.

"Cool, Isaac and I can go grab the pizza and meet you guys back at the house?"

"Sure, we'll pick up drinks." Lydia agreed.

"Are you riding with us?" Allison asked us and we nodded.

"See you guys tomorrow." Mason said, getting in his car. Theo and I got in the back of Allison's SUV and waited for Scott and Isaac to finish groping their girlfriends.

"Do lips ever go numb from too much kissing?" I wondered, mostly to myself.

"Wanna find out?" Theo asked.

"You are such a flirt." I snorted.

"Not really." He chuckled, shrugging.

"So, I'm just special then? Or is this not flirting?"

"Oh, it's definitely flirting. But you can relax mini wolf. I'm not going to attack you." he chuckled.

"I am so hating Stiles for telling you that." I groaned.

"I think it's cute."

"Cute." I grumbled.

"You don't like being cute?"

"I guess it could be worse, but it's sometimes annoying to be adorable or cute all the time. Babies are adorable, puppies are cute. I am not a puppy."

Theo laughed, breaking my pout, and making me smile.

"Well, I don't think you're puppy cute."

"Really?"

"Yes, really. I just think you're cute." He reached over and brushed a stray hair back. I grabbed his hand lowering it but didn't let go.

"I never really know if I can take your flirting seriously or not." I said, studying him.

"Do you want to?" He asked, those green eyes gazing at me.

I wanted to respond, to tell him yes I did, but do I? Do I really want him to flirt with me? do I want to flirt back? Should I? Despite being attracted to him, I've only ever dated girls. Its just easier or should be. But going by my last date, which was just last month, with a girl I already knew I wasn't really interested in, maybe its not easier. I still can't get her to take the hint that I'm not interested in a repeat.

Before I could answer him the doors opened, and Allison and Lydia joined us in the car.

"Alright, are we ready to get this party started?" Allison asked.

"Yep, let's do this." Theo said, smiling. He gave my hand a squeeze before letting go.

Theo:

"So…." Allison said, smirking at me as we walked through the store.

"So…." I echoed, waiting to see if she was going to add to that.

"Are you gonna make me say it?" she laughed.

"Say what?" I teased.

She stopped in the middle of the drink isle and placed her hands on her hips, glaring at me. Sighing, I rolled my eyes.

"Is this about Liam?"

"Of course, it is. You two seem to be hitting it off." She said as we started walking again.

"Yeah. Liam's great." I said, smiling.

"Mmmhmm, I see." She smirked.

"See what?" I said, picking up a two liter of Sprite while she grabbed an orange.

"you're not fooling anyone."

"I'm not trying too." I snorted. "Liam really is great. But… I don't know. I mean I really like him. I just don't think he takes my flirting with him seriously. I'm not even sure if he's into guys really."

"I can't answer the latter for certain, but my observation is, that is not the case. And as for taking you seriously. That could be just because the hot new guy is paying him attention and he's not sure what to do with that."

"Maybe. If nothing else I'm happy to have him as a friend."

"But you would be happier if you knew he was just as interested as you are." She said, bumping my shoulder. I rolled my eyes and stopped when I spotted something on the endcap of the register.

Liam always has these candies at lunch, eating them by the handful. I picked up a big bag of them, ignoring Allison's knowing look and giggle as she took the soda from me. I went to a different register and cashed out for the candy and then took one of the two bags from her.

"For what it's worth, I think you two would make an adorable couple."

"Please don't tell him that. He hates being adorable. He just had a mini rant about it earlier."

"But he is. We can't help but think it."

"Oh, I know. Sometimes I look at him and just want to grab his adorable face."

"And pinch his cheeks?"

"Uh, not so much, no. More like kiss the hell out of him. See how red I can get him to turn." I chuckled and Allison giggled.

We got back to the car, and I handed the candy to Liam.

"What's this?"

"I noticed you always eat these at lunch. I saw them by the register and figured I would feed your addiction." I shrugged.

"Really, thank you. I love these." His face lit up as he tore open the bag.

"Aren't you going to wait until after you eat dinner?"

"I'm a wolf. I'll still be hungry by the time we get there." He said popping a few in his mouth.

"He's right. Scott and Isaac could clean out the fridge in one day. I would wonder how Ms. McCall does it having them both there, but they both work and contribute." Lydia said.

"That and at least twice a week either one or the other or both come over to our place and eats with us." Allison said.

"True. I honestly think your dad enjoys having them come by. He'll never admit it though."

"I know, right. He really gets a kick out of how paranoid Isaac gets. My poor baby. Isaac is really convinced that one day my dad will just disappear him." Allison snorted.

Liam absently poured out some candy in his hand and held it out to me while laughing at Allison's and Lydia's conversation. Wanting to see that blush again, I cupped his hand in one of mine and grabbed a few candies with the other. He didn't disappoint, giving a shy smile and a cute little blush.

JACJACJAC

The pizza was demolished. Now, we were just sitting back talking. Though Allison and Isaac were doing more kissing then actual talking and it was so cute watching Lydia and Scott giggle and whisper to each other. The fire pit was lit, combatting the slight chill in the air. But I still took advantage of the late February cold and sat as close as I could get to Liam.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw him fidgeting. His eyes were closed, and he was murmuring something too low for me to hear. I placed a hand on his balled-up fist. He looked at me with golden eyes before shaking his head and they were back to normal.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Yeah. Full moon coming up. Sometimes it affects me beforehand. But I'm fine. Just have to take a minute." He shrugged, smiling.

"Told you your control was getting better." Scott praised.

"Thanks, it's getting easier. But I don't think I'm ready to do the full moon thing around people yet."

"That's fine. Everyone goes at their own pace. We'll still go to the lake house like we planned."

"Lakehouse? Is that the place you told me about? Lydia's?" I asked.

"Yeah. It's secluded enough that I don't have to worry about hurting anyone. We've been going there every full moon since I was changed."

"Really? All of you?"

"Usually its Scott, Lydia, Isaac, Allison, Stiles, and Malia. Mason goes sometimes but he can't this weekend. I don't know if anyone else will be there."

"It's just our normal group. Everyone else is looking for leads on Corinne and Kate." Scott said.

I always feel tense when I hear her name. I was terrified for my brother, waiting impatiently for the next text from him letting me know he was okay. they were far and in between and I got why but I hated it.

"We'll find him." He reassured me, turning his hand over to grasp mine and giving it a squeeze. I took a deep breath and nodded.

"It's good that you have somewhere to go." I said, going back to what we were talking about. I didn't want to dwell on Kate too much. "I know you said your dad knows, but what about your mom? How do you explain it to her? I mean it has to be weird for her son to be going on monthly trips with a group of teens to somewhere out of town."

"My mom just thinks my team captain is really into team bonding to have this monthly retreat."

"Well, that's not really a lie. I guess keeping the town from finding out about the supernatural could be considered a bonding experience."

"Right." He laughed.

"How did your dad end up aware anyway? Did you just decide to tell him, or did he find out on his own?"

"A mixture of both really. He saw Scott do some wolf magic for Lydia and started asking questions. After that it was hard for him not to suspect something. I didn't really want to lie to him, so we told him."

"Wolf magic?"

"Well, not really magic. Wolves have the ability to take away someone's pain. I'm not sure how it works exactly."

"Wow. Okay. That's pretty impressive. And you have never done it?"

"No. I don't even know if I could do it. I never tried."

"It sucks that I am missing out on the whole shifting thing."

"Well, you got some of the same traits."

"Yeah. But I feel like an android, human 2.0 or something." I said grinning and he barked out a laugh. "What's it like being a wolf?"

"It's… well at first it was weird. Mostly because I didn't know what was happening to me. Even when I did know it was uncomfortable and scary. It's like I can feel him there, the wolf, just under the surface."

"Even now?"

"Yeah, it's not really uncomfortable now though. I'm used to it. He still catches me off guard sometimes, but I've been getting better at controlling the urges. It's only really hard during this time when the full moon is right around the corner."

"But you have everyone there to make sure that you're safe."

"Yeah, but also to make sure everyone else is as well. I don't really feel the same urge to go hunting during the moon as I did in the beginning but…. I'm not really sure how to explain it…." His head tilted as he thought about it.

"I bet you make an adorable wolf." I smirked as he narrowed those pretty blues at me.

"Theo, you should come this weekend." Scott said.

"Really? I don't want to intrude."

"You won't be. Honestly, we could use the extra set of hands just in case. We usually don't have problems. But it's always better to be prepared." He shrugged.

"Okay, if you're sure. I'll let Derek know."

"Good, then you can see for yourself." Lydia snickered looking at Liam, who had turned bright red.

"You're still staying with Derek?" Liam asked, getting the attention off him. Lydia laughed before Scott drew her attention back to him.

"Yeah, it's semi-permanent. At least until this Corinne thing is taken care of."

"Do you know what you want to do after that is done?"

"Well, I would love to just stay in town you know. Maybe actually attend high school for real, graduate and all that. But most 16-year-olds can't live on their own. Then there is Corey…"

"Have you talked to Stiles yet? I thought he said he had a few ideas to find him."

"No, not yet. He's been a bit preoccupied. I don't blame him. Hopefully, we can talk this weekend."

"That's a good idea. You'll have the time." He said just as his phone beeped and he pulled it out to silence it.

"What's that for?" I asked gesturing to the alarm.

"It's my alert letting me know I have 30 minutes to curfew."

"Is it that late already? I need to get you home." Scott said.

"I can walk. It's only a couple of blocks up the street." Liam shrugged.

"Your mother would kill us both."

"I can walk with him." I offered.

"That's a good idea." Lydia cut in, interrupting whatever Liam was about to say. "You guys go ahead, and we'll get this stuff cleaned up. Then someone will take you back to Derek's, Theo."

"She's having way to much fun with this." Liam muttered, cutting his eyes to her and away again.

"Are you sure you don't mind?" he asked, looking at me.

"No, not at all. Let's go." I said standing. Lydia and Allison both smirked at us.

I gestured for Liam to go ahead of me. We walked back through the house and out the front door. I fell in step next to him as we walked down the street, trying to put my thoughts in order and ask the question that's been on my mind since before we left the school.

"remember what we were talking about in the car, waiting for Lydia and Allison?" I asked. He didn't look at me, but I could see his cheeks pink up in the streetlights.

"Yeah. I do." He sighed. "I'm just not sure how to answer."

"Okay, is it because you're not interested in guys or just not interested in me?"

"It's not anything like that."

"Then what is it like?"

He stopped and looked up at me, biting his bottom lip. I had the almost uncontrollable urge to kiss him to stop him from doing it.

"I've been attracted to guys before and had crushes before. But you're different."

"How so?"

"I actually like you. I could see myself really liking you. Well, that's not true. I already really like you." He started walking again, shoving his hands in his pockets.

"That's good to hear. I like you too and I'm not just saying that because I can make you blush." I teased. He huffed a laugh.

"that's good to know." He said, stopping in front of a really pretty, modern house and hopped up on the cement ridge edging the lawn. I hopped up next to him. "The thing is I've never…. I'm not sure how to do this."

"You're not out."

"No. I mean I'm not 'in' either. I just never had a reason to be one way or the other."

"Okay, and what about now?"

"Now, I'm all over the place. As much as I like you, I don't know if I am ready to just dive right in. But, at the same time, I want to see what could happen if anything."

"So, go slow. I can handle that."

"Can you?" he quirked a brow.

Grinning, I leaned in and whispered in his ear, "For you, I can."

His breath caught. I smiled at the blush that appeared when I moved away from him.

"You enjoy that way too much." he laughed.

"There's no such thing." I teased, making him roll his eyes and attempt to hide his own smile.

"I should get inside. I'll see you tomorrow?" he said jumping down, I followed.

"Yeah, see you in school."

He gave an awkward wave as he jogged up to the door.
