This is short and I'm sorry for that but I've been really busy and was struggling a lot :(( Apolgizes in advance,**

The Curtis home was bouncing with life despite the depressing grey skies of the outside world. It was downpouring like crazy outside, and if any of them dared step outside for even a moment they'd be drenched.

This is why the gang opted to remain inside for the night, instead of wandering the streets looking for action. The rain most likely wasn't going to be letting up soon, and the group was prepared to simply spend the night.

Surrounding the coffee table, which lay in the middle of the living room, are three boys. One sits with a wide grin on his face, laughing and cracking jokes every few moments, Two-Bit.

Another wears a scowl, and is staring deeply at his cards with concentration, Steve.

And the third boy is smiling and chuckling, but when nobody is watching, he sneaks cards and hides them in his shoes for later, Sodapop.

On the armchair sits the oldest of the seven boys. He seems to be watching the television which is currently broadcasting some of the latest news from all over America. His eyes are tired and carry dark bags beneath them, Darry.

Then there's the couch, where the last three members of their little friend group/gang sit. On the left side is a boy who was watching the poker-playing boys with partial interest, his cold eyes mostly scanning their cards and snorting at the occasional joke, Dallas.

In the middle was a quiet boy who too was watching the other three boys in front of him, but he also would glance up to the television every once and awhile, though nothing on there would keep his attention, Johnny.

Then finally, on the right side of the couch, is the youngest of the group. He holds a book in his lap, and his eyes dart back and forth quickly as he reads the text plastered on the novel, Ponyboy.

Rain pours loudly outside, as boys talk over each other and laugh obnoxiously loud. Bob Dylan's The Times They Are a-Changin' plays calmly on the record player which used to belong to the three Curtis brother's late father.

"Soda!" Steve shouts with a heavy layer of bitter-aggression. "I saw you just slip that card into your shoe!"

Two-Bit laughs, picks up the half empty beer bottle by his side and takes a large gulp of it before putting it back down and picking up his cards.

"Slip a card into my shoe?" Sodapop gasps dramatically, a grin playing on his lips. "Steve! How could you accuse me of committing the worst crime of them all… cheating!"

The grin on his face is all it takes for Steve to jump onto him, and the two start rolling around on the floor. Dallas kicks at the two of them when they roll by him, causing Steve to shout a quick curse at him.

With the loudness of the house, nobody noticed Ponyboy, who was humming along to Bob Dylan. It was a quiet hum which nobody could hear, until of course, Soda and Steve tired themselves out and were lying on the ground panting.

Everything else sort of fell silent after them, and the entire gang ended up hearing as Ponyboy hummed quietly to himself.

It took Ponyboy a few moments to recognize the silence and snap out of it, glancing up and meeting the gang's eyes and growing red with embarrassment.

"Hey…?" he chuckles weakly, attempting to break the awkward silence.

"Well aren't you quite the singer!" Steve quips, smirking obnoxiously up at Ponyboy, who's ears have grown quite the red tint.

"I wasn't singin'," Ponyboy mumbles, sliding down on the couch and bringing the book closer to his face in a feeble attempt to shelter himself from the others.

"Might as well been," Steve shrugs, his smirk growing to a bit of a toothy grin.

Ponyboy just rolls his eyes and looks away, but then, Two-Bit perks up with a concerningly enthusiastic smile.

"You should!" he shouts as he stares intently at Ponyboy.

"Should what?" The other boy questions, eyebrows furrowing as his face grows a puzzled expression.

"Sing!" Two-Bit shrugs, like it was obvious. "You should sing for us!"

Dallas chokes back a snicker, while Steve shamelessly bursts out in laughter so intense he has tears in his eyes and is gasping for air.

"Absolutely not!" Ponyboy says, eyes wide. "No way I'm doing that!"

"Please?" Two-Bit begs as Steve starts choking on more laughter. Darry rolls his eyes from his arm chair while Soda slaps Steve in an attempt to stop him from choking to death.

"No!" Ponyboy grumbles as he stands up, instantly turning away from the group, but they could all still see his red ears.

Johnny blinks up at Pony with a small, sly smile. "Aw c'mon Pone, it'd be fun!"

Ponyboy stares at Johnny in shock. "Are you kidding? You too?!"

Steve grins and raises his hand teasingly. "I want you to too." Ponyboy crosses his arms and shakes his head.

"I'm not doing it just because three people want me to."

Dallas smirks and leans forwards towards Ponyboy. "Make that four people."

"What!?"

"Five!" Sodapop chips in, much to Ponyboy's horror.

"Soda!" Ponyboy shouts, jaw wide open. "Why would you do this to me?"

"C'mon Pony! It would be interesting!" Soda defends himself, smiling widely and crossing his legs.

Ponyboy stares at the group, book in one hand, the other one running through his hair. His eyes land on Darry, the only one who isn't trying to make him sing.

Darry meets his eyes, then shrugs. Two-Bit jumps up and whispers in Darry's ear, and Darry simply rolls his eyes and looks at Ponyboy with a small smirk. "Six against one."

Ponyboy groans and closes his eyes, pushing a finger against his temple. "Are you kidding me? I– Y'all are just gonna make fun of me!"

Soda shakes his head and quickly says, "No!" as Steve shouts with no hesitation, "Absolutely!" Sodapop punches Steve in the arm.

Johnny tilts his head to the side and looks at Ponyboy with his dark eyes. "You should, man, it'd be cool. Nobody's gonna laugh at you!"

Looking around the group, Ponyboy sighs with slight annoyance. It was evident he wasn't getting out of this…

"Fine! Okay, I'll sing for you guys. Happy?" he groans, putting his book on a nearby desk and crossing his arms.

They all grin and nod, and Soda changes the record to Elvis Presley's Can't Help Falling in Love. Ponyboy looks extremely flustered, but after a moment's hesitation, he starts singing the chorus softly.

It was short, only lasting a few moments before he clamped his mouth shut and turned away, face completely red.

When he finally turns back towards the gang, he's greeted not by laughter and teasing smirks, but by open mouths and raised eyebrows. Soda is smiling despite his wide eyes, but everyone else is just staring at him in shock.

"Y-Yeah, I'm just gonna go to my room now–"

"Holy shit!" Two-Bit exclaims, and not even Darry gets on his case for his swearing. "Ponyboy Curtis, you never told us you was a singer!"

It's Ponyboy's turn to raise his eyebrows. "Huh? What are you–"

"That was awesome!" Soda cries, smiling even wider now. "You've got such a nice voice!"

"Uh– Uhm thank you…?"

Steve looks like he wants to say something, but instead he just keeps licking his suddenly dry lips. Finally, he says, "What the fuck."

Dallas remains silent, but just kind of staring at Ponyboy, which is starting to creep him out but the boy says nothing, instead glancing to Johnny, who's looking at him in amazement.

"You're really good Pony." he tells him. Ponyboy smiles a "thank you."

Finally Ponyboy looks towards Darry, who at first is still sort of looking at him in surprise, but he regains his calm appearance and nods to Ponyboy, smiling.

"Have you always been that good?"

Ponyboy shrugs, still quite flustered. He's never enjoyed being the centre of attention. "I guess? I don't know, I don't sing a lot…"

"Ever consider going big on that?" Two-Bit teases, grinning now that he's no longer in shock.

"I can't say I have."

"Thinking of becoming the next Bob Dylan, kid?" Steve adds slyly.

Ponyboy just rolls his eyes and groans. "Oh yeah, sure. I actually got offered a spot in the Beatles. Apparently I'm replacing Ringo."

Dallas snorts at his sassy remark. "Well look at the big shot here! Don't forget us when you're rich and Socy!"

"Lay off guys." Darry pipes up, giving them all a once-over, then shooting Ponyboy a quick look of empathy.

Ponyboy smiles gratefully in return. The group continues to poke fun at Ponyboy, all good-naturedly though as they are still in awe at his skill, but eventually the topic dies down and the group goes back to what they were doing prior to this. Ponyboy walks into his room, but after he closes his door, the small smile he'd been trying to hide finally comes out.

**I am taking requests for The Outsiders one-shots, but just know it isn't a priority as I have a few other ongoing projects right now. Also if you request something, know that I don't write pairings so no character x characters please :) **
