'Finally asleep.'

Blue eyes stared down at the sleeping infant, feeling a smile break across her face when the baby's hand unconsciously reached out in his sleep, seeking her warmth.

Kagome adjusted her position, shifting a little closer and allowing a tiny hand to wrap around one of her fingers. She let out a content sigh, propping her head up with her arm as she simply stared in amazement at the baby.

Her baby.

"Can't expect him to come around often." Kagome said out loud to no one in particular, closing her eyes when she thought back, remembering him coming to Higure Shrine to drop off Tsumiki and gave absolutely no answer to what happened between him and Tsumiki's mother.

He had told her to take care of the girl and so, she did and he stayed the night and was gone by the next morning.

Kagome had not seen him in ten or so months, but she was not angry or worried. He most certainly could take care of himself and his 'missions' could take from anywhere from a day to weeks to months.

'I wonder when he will show up ag–!?' Kagome immediately stood from the bed, ignoring her baby for a moment as he begin to whimper at her sudden movement.

She glared at the window, tensing when it began to slide open from the outside and she could only blink at the proceeding sight, her body loosening from her protective stance.

"Yo."

The Miko let out a breath as a very large man climbed through the window with ease and was now standing in her room with that oh-so familiar scarred smirk.

"Toji," Kagome tilted her head, crossing her arms, "Do you even know how long it's been? Don't you have a cell phone? It will be a little more appropriate if you call before just popping in out of nowhere."

"Aww, did you miss me, baby?" Toji grinned before digging into the pockets of his pants, "Was a long, long ass mission. Had to ki–" He paused when Kagome held up her hand and remembered she never wanted details of his job and the gruesome stuff that came with it, "Well, came here to drop this off for you."

Kagome watched as Toji pulled out a rather large stack of cash, "You know that's not necessary," She stated, feeling uncomfortable with accepting his money, having a vague knowledge of where it came from, "Toji, you–"

"Of course it's not all of it, baby," Toji shrugged, "Gotta keep some for myself, ya know. I think a big race is coming up soon." He tensed when he heard an unfamiliar sound, turning around swiftly to the source.

He stared blankly.

"Kagome, what the hell is that?" Toji pointed at the baby, who was looking at him with curiosity in his green eyes, "What the fu–?!"

Green eyes.

Just like his.

"Don't tell me," Toji was in front of Kagome is less than a second, placing his hands on her shoulders, "Is that... is that really...?"

"It is, Toji," Kagome placed one of her hands on top of Toji's, "I couldn't get in contact with you to tell you, but it really is," She watched him cautiously, not knowing how he was going to react, "This is our child – our son, Megumi."
