Disclaimer: Don't own Teen Titans

Lost Ties

It was a quiet night in Jump City but for the teen titans the battle raged. Robin launched an attack with his staff but was quickly thrown back landing in an effortless three point stance cursing like a sailor.

Raven watched Robin to make sure he didn't need help before launching an attack of her own to no avail. She was swatted away like a pesky fly and Robin lost track of exactly where she landed or how hard that landing was.

Meanwhile Amanda, Madison and Mason Roth were a few blocks down the road. They had spent months tracing the rumor that their aunt Angela Roth had a daughter. They suspected that daughter was Raven of the teen titans after seeing clear images of her sans hood. She looked too much like their aunt that had left the family so many years ago for it to be mere coincidence but they had to know for sure. Thus why they had moved their base of operations to Jump City in hopes to get a chance to talk with the Titans, with Raven.

"Are you sure she's our cousin?" Mason asked dubious of the notion his sisters put in front of him.

"Mason you saw the photos, Raven is the spitting image of Auntie Angela, no doubt that's her daughter." His twin sister Madison shot back "Plus look at her then look at Amanda and tell me they aren't related. Mandy could practically pass for her little sister!" she paused as they stopped walking "You remember yesterday that guy thought she was Raven!"

"Yeah, but they say Raven is from some alternate dimension." Mason argued. "Amanda looking like her could be coincidence!"

"We don't know her story Mason, her mother could have been from here for all we know that's why we have to talk to her." Amanda replied tersely.

"Mandy what are we going to say to her?" Mason asked still not sure this whole thing was a good idea.

Before Amanda could reply a figure was thrown roughly into the ground at the base of a nearby building. The dust settled and they got their first glimpse of the hero that lay in the crater.

Robin looked as his team gathered, it took him a second to realize they were short one person.

"Where is Raven?" Starfire asked.

Cyborg let loose an impressive stream of profanity as they all realized Raven was nowhere to be seen.

In that second Robin realized he hadn't seen the sorceress since she was swatted away and he feared she was injured worse than he'd initially thought. He was used to her bouncing back quickly, but this time she hadn't done so leaving a knot of dread in his stomach. How badly was she injured? How hard had this beast hit her to render her useless for the rest of the fight?

"She was thrown that way." Robin said as they followed the trajectory Robin had plotted from the last impact she'd taken.

Cyborg located the empty crater and let out more profanity. His reaction only intensified when he saw a small puddle of blood in the crater, blood they figured could only belong to Raven.

"Where is she?" Starfire asked.

Beast Boy had been oddly silent. They turned to see a green hound dog where Beast Boy had been. He was urgently smelling the ground for signs of where she might have gone.

"Raven is tough but I don't think she walked away from this under her own power." Robin said darkly. "This crater is pretty deep and I think this rebar got her, not too deep but deep enough to likely incapacitate her." Robin said indicating a piece of rebar the end of which was coated with blood like it had pierced her flesh somewhere.

"Then how…" Starfire said "Where is Raven?"

"You're right, Robin, she didn't walk away, there were three individuals, they took her." Beast Boy said still on his hands and knees from shifting from dog to human.

"Can you follow the scents?"

"No, they must be able to fly." He replied standing to his feet. Cursing his inability to follow them once they took to the skies.

Robin looked at Cyborg who had, other than some serious profanity, been oddly quiet this whole time. Cyborg had recently confessed that he had been in love with Raven for quite some time and to his surprise she returned his feelings. Now his girlfriend was missing and Robin was afraid Cyborg was going to go rogue on him. Starfire was the only one physically able to best Cyborg and she would if she had to but Robin didn't want to lay that burden onto Starfire's shoulders if he had any other options.

Robin pulled his T-Phone out.

"Robin if you're looking for her T-Phone don't bother." Cyborg said holding up a damaged T-Phone. "It's hers."

"Damn, we have to go back to the tower so we can start city scans, she has to be in Jump City, they couldn't have gotten far!" Robin groaned pulling himself out of the rather impressive crater Raven's impact had left.

She was hurt, how bad he had no clue, but if she was carried away by complete strangers with no protest it had to be bad. The crater also testified to that, yeah Raven was as durable as any of them, maybe more so than some but she was flesh and bone all of which still had a breaking point and Robin was certain this impact broke bones and left Raven too vulnerable to be left in the hands of three strangers who's intentions for her were still unknown.

"Robin, what are we going to do?" Starfire asked as they turned to leave for Titans Tower.

"I don't know, Star, I really don't know." Robin sighed.

Meanwhile the Roth siblings had gotten to their hideout with Raven and Madison began looking over her injuries as Amanda and Mason discussed how to reunite her with the titans without incurring their wrath.

"Mason, look, we have to tell them she's safe!"

"Mandy, I'm not saying we don't I just don't know the best way to do it." Mason replied "They're going to think we expect to get something out of this, I know it… we waited how many years to reach out to Raven?"

"Mason I know, you don't have to tell me!" Amanda snapped. "We don't have to come out that we think she's related to us right away. Right now they just need to know we have her and she is safe and they are free to retrieve her."

"Hey, cool it you two… I got the DNA sample." Madison said handing the swab to Mason. During her work treating the still unconscious titan she had taken a swab of the inside of her cheek knowing that was the easiest way to get a non invasive DNA sample.

"I'd say run it against Amanda, they're physically and therefore genetically the most similar." Madison replied.

Madison looked like their mother, in other words she looked like she would be at home on the catwalk. Long jet black hair, creamy alabaster skin and striking deep set brown eyes.

Mason was colored like Madison but he was rugged, muscular and tall.

Then there was Amanda, she was colored like her siblings but that was where the similarities ended. She was slim, baby faced and petite. She was the only one that looked like the Roth's, like Raven and Angela. At thirteen years old she was the youngest but one would be wrong to think she wasn't fully capable of handling herself in a crisis.

"Okay, sample in, isolating DNA…" Mason trailed his running commentary as the computer did it's thing then beeped.

"Nice work Maddie, nice clean sample…" he smiled "Now to compare it to the sample on file for Mandy…"

He started the profile comparison.

"We should know in a few moments." He said anxiously.

Five agonizing minutes later the computer beeped again.

"The results are in…" he trailed sounding like a talk show on one of those shows where people go to air their dirty laundry cause they didn't know who the father of their child was.

"Raven is…"
