It was another ordinary night at Camp Wawanakwa. The moon radiated its silvery glow as the campers peacefully slumbered in their cabins, unaware of the horrors that awaited one of them.
Meanwhile, on the outskirts of the campground, Chris McLean was brewing up his latest scheme, craving to infuse some chaos into the reality TV show he loved to torment the contestants with. Armed with a mischievous grin and a mysterious potion, he stealthily slipped into the Killer Bass cabin, his heart racing with excitement and anticipation.
The next morning, as the sun timidly peeked over the horizon, its golden rays shone through the cabin windows, casting a magical glow on Eva's sleeping form. Slowly, the scent of saltwater filled the air. Eva grunted and stretched, rubbing her tired eyes, oblivious to the transformation that had taken place while she slept.
But as she reached her hands to scratch an itch on her back, her fingers brushed against something oddly peculiar. Confusion filled her mind as she realized she no longer felt clothes against her skin. With a jolt, she looked down to discover a shimmering fish tail replacing her once solid legs.
Eva's heart raced as she stared down at the tail in disbelief. She blinked several times, thinking that maybe she was still dreaming. But the sensation of seawater on her skin and the gentle sway of the tail against the wooden bedframe confirmed that this was no dream. She stumbled out of bed, her tail flapping and splashing water onto the cabin floor.
Suddenly, the door creaked open, revealing a grinning Chris McLean. "Good morning, Eva. How do you like your new look?" he asked, a wicked glint in his eye.
Eva tried to lunge at Chris, but her tail wouldn't let her get very far. "What the hell did you do to me, McLean?" she growled, her voice now a hauntingly melodic tune.
Chris chuckled as he watched Eva struggle to come to terms with her new form. "I just injected you with a little something-something to make things more interesting," he said, his eyes scanning her from head to fin.
Eva narrowed her eyes, her anger growing with each passing second. "You're sick," she spat, her tail slapping against the ground with each movement.
Chris shrugged nonchalantly. "Hey, you signed up for this show. You should have known the risks."
Eva gritted her teeth, feeling a surge of rage boil within her. This wasn't fair. She had come to this show to compete, not to be turned into some sort of mermaid freak.
At that moment, the other Killer Bass members began to stir from their beds, woken up by Eva's commotion. Bridgette was the first one to awake and caught sight of Eva. At first she thought it was some kind of joke, but as she rubbed her eyes and looked closer, she realized it wasn't a joke at all. Eva had actually transformed into a mermaid in the night.
Bridgette gasped and stepped back in shock as her gaze shifted from Eva to Chris McLean. She could hardly believe what she was seeing. How had this happened? Surely Chris wouldn't do something so cruel?
As the other contestants gradually woke up and saw Eva's transformation, they each reacted in their own way. Some gasped in horror, while others snickered and muttered under their breath. But one person in particular stood out from the rest, and that person was Duncan.
Duncan had been lying in bed with his eyes shut, pretending to be asleep, but in reality, he was wide awake and listening intently to the commotion around him. He had a sneaking suspicion that something was going down, and he wanted to be the first to figure it out.
When he heard Eva's tail splashing against the wooden floor, he opened one eye and peered in her direction. What he saw left him completely stunned. Eva had turned into a mermaid. A freaking mermaid.
Duncan sat up in bed, rubbing his eyes and trying to make sense of what was happening. He had seen some crazy things in his life, but this was beyond anything he had ever imagined.
He gazed at Eva's transformed body, taking in her iridescent scales and long, flowing tail. A part of him couldn't help but feel a twinge of… attraction? It was an unfamiliar sensation, but he quickly brushed it off as he watched Chris saunter out of the cabin, a sly grin on his face.
Duncan couldn't let Chris get away with this. He knew that if he didn't act fast, the rest of the contestants would be too busy gawking at Eva to do anything. He quickly got out of bed and made his way over to her.
Eva's eyes were wild with anger, and she glared at Duncan as he approached. "What do you want?" she growled, her voice low and threatening.
Duncan could feel his heart racing as he stood before the mermaid version of Eva. He couldn't deny the fact that he found her even more intriguing in this form. But he knew that he had to push those thoughts aside and focus on the task at hand. "I want to help you," he said firmly, looking directly into her eyes.
Eva snorted. "Like you could do anything. You've never been much of a team player, Duncan."
Duncan's lips curled into a smirk. "Well, maybe I'm turning over a new leaf. Besides, I don't think any of us signed up for this mermaid business."
Eva hesitated for a moment before nodding slowly. "Fine. But what's your plan?"
Duncan leaned in closer, his voice low and conspiratorial. "We'll have to work together if we want to get out of this mess. But first, we need to find out what Chris is up to."
Eva narrowed her eyes, her suspicion clear. "And how do you suppose we do that?" Duncan leaned back, crossing his arms over his chest. "Simple. We follow him." Eva rolled her eyes. "That's your brilliant plan? Just follow him?" Duncan shrugged. "Hey, it's better than nothing. Besides, I have a feeling that Chris is up to something big, and I don't want to be caught off guard." Eva sighed, her shoulders slumping. "Fine. Let's just get this over with."
Duncan nodded and stood up, turning towards the door of the cabin. He started to walk out, but then he paused and glanced back at Eva. It suddenly occurred to him that she wasn't able to walk because of her new tail. He held out his hand with a smirk. "Do you need help getting up?"
Eva glared at him, clearly not wanting to accept his offer. "No way," she muttered stubbornly. "I can handle this on my own."
But Duncan wasn't about to give up that easily. He shook his head and took a few steps closer to her, kneeling down so they were eye-level with each other.
"Look, I know you don't want me carrying you around like some damsel in distress," he said softly but firmly. "But if we don't find out what Chris McLean is planning soon, who knows what kind of trouble we'll be in."
Eva stared at Duncan for a moment, her eyes flickering with uncertainty. She knew he was right. If they didn't figure out what Chris was up to, they could be in serious trouble. She heaved a long, frustrated sigh before finally nodding. "Fine. But if you drop me, you're dead." she muttered, holding out her arms to him.
Duncan chuckled as he easily lifted her up and cradled her against his chest. "Don't worry, Eva. I've got you." Eva rolled her eyes, but she couldn't help the small smile that tugged at the corners of her lips. As they made their way out of the cabin, she couldn't help but feel grateful that Duncan was there with her. She had never thought she'd have to rely on him for anything, but she was quickly realizing that he might just be the only person she could trust in this crazy competition.
