"Sup Nayun!"
Suho greeted his friend and she let him into her house, a magnificent mansion of at least four floors, and not to mention a well-decorated one.
"Hey Suho, thanks for coming! Did you bring the snacks?" Nayun smiled as she led Suho through the long hall and up the stairs, a small skip to her steps.
"Mhm, I got those sour and cream chips you like, the super spicy ones that Jonghak always eats, and the popcorn brand Yeonha enjoys. And since Hajin doesn't eat any of those, I just brought him classic old salty chips!"
"Yeah, it seems like you got everything right. Man, I'm so excited for this movie night! We haven't been able to hang out in forever, ugh."
Suho laughed at his friend's complaints, knowing quite well the university was kicking all of their asses, especially because they were all going to different institutes. He was so happy all of his family was in one place, sharing happy moments.
"Is Yeonha already here? Or are we waiting for both her and Hajin?" Suho asked, as Nayun and him were about to reach the room.
"Well, see for yourself…"
As soon as Nayun finished her sentence and opened the room, screaming and laughter could be heard.
"GET OFF OF ME YOU FUCKER!!!" "FUCK NO, SUFFER THE WRATH OF THE RULER YEONHA!!!"
Jonghak and Yeonha were rolling around in a pile of pillows, wrestling and trying to hit each other with…were those bag chips???
"YO GUYS CUT IT OUT, SUHO'S HERE!!!"
Nayun screamed at them, before seemingly pulling a water bottle and spraying them both with it, making them shriek.
Ah yes. Their beautiful and chaotic dynamic.
Suho, Nayun, and Jonghak have been friends ever since they were little. Their parents are high school acquaintances, and they grew up in the same neighborhood. Its always been them three as long as Suho could recall in his childhood years. Always the epic trio, causing messes and doing pranks, covering for each other and generally just being together. Later on, at the start of fifth grade, did Yeonha arrive. And she was not a nice kid.
Yeonha was, well, mean and crude. However, she was extremely smart, and it showed since the ten-year old girl had skipped a grade.
Even though she didn't put people down she had a standoff-ish attitude that made her unapproachable, even for a ten year old. Nayun didn't like her general aura, but things got worse between them after Yeonha insulted Nayun's mom. From that moment on, any possibilities of them both becoming friends seemed impossible. Nayun and Yeonha would be constantly at each other's throats, and always picking a fight. It took simply three months for Jonghak and Suho to get tired of their bickering and make them talk their issues out, and another two years for them both to fully understand and forgive each other.
Afterwards, they were all inseparable, and entered highschool with high hopes and dreams.
Aaand then came Kim Hajin.
Hajin, with his troublemaker aura and insulting words. Hajin, the person who'd match Nayun's and Joghak's sport competitiveness, even if he lost the stamina races. Hajin, who could even make Suho get annoyed because of his petty remarks and jokes. Hajin, who'd pick fights with Yeonha during debates and laugh when she'd run out of points to defend her arguments.
But it was also Hajin, the person who comforted Nayun after losing the national archery tournament, and pushed her towards fencing instead of letting her mope. It was Hajin, the person who gifted Jonghak a beautiful carving of himself in art class, not knowing how much the boy struggled with his self image. It was Hajin, the only person who defended Yeonha in debate class after rumors started spreading about her. It was Hajin, the person who comforted Suho after he found out his childhood pet was dying, and was inconsolable.
It wasn't only Suho, Nayun, Jonghak and Yeonha. Now it was Hajin too.
And suddenly, they found themselves including him in every hangout. It was fun, and it was a new addition to theirfamilyfriend group . Hajin was like the final ingredient they needed for their mixture.
Yet, the boy still remained a mystery. He refused to let them go to his house to hang out, and often had to cancel plans because of "family emergencies". Then, he'd show up the next day in bandages and bruises, but he'd still be his cheerful, sarcastic self. Yeonha and Suho were both the most worried, hypothesizing possible child abuse, but after voicing their claims to Hajin, albeit very worriedly, he laughed them off.
"Maybe someday I'll tell you my line of work, but for now, stop being mother hens, bothof you. I'm fine, truly, and I'm happier than ever."
So, imagine the squad's excitement after Hajin himself confirmed he'd start assisting to their monthly movie nights, and even offered to bring some of their favorite pastries. Nayun and Jonghak wanted his first movie night with them to be special and fun, so they insisted it be in Nayun's house, which was the biggest and closest to Hajin's current residence. Yeonha even threatened him (lovingly) that if he didn't arrive in time, she'd give Hajin the punching of his life.
However, minutes went by after Suho arrived, and still no sign of Hajin.
"Are we sure we gave him the right direction?" Asked Yeonha, sitting upside down on the couch and her bag of chips in hand.
"Of course dumbass, I personally made sure he had the right direction," replied Nayun, blowing an annoyed huff and taking her phone out of her pocket, probably to curse at Hajin as to why he hadn't arrived.
"C'mon guys, Hajin is probably just late! After all, he did say he'd pick our favorite pastries…and Yeonha and Jonghak are very picky with what they eat…" Suho said, side eyeing his two friends, who turned red with both amusement and what was light anger.
"Heh you fucker, its not my fault I have like a hundred allergies…" shot back Jonghak, while Nayun laughed at his answer. "Yet you still have no problem with eating whichever sweets, huh Jonghak?" "Ok now you asked for it-"
As they both continued to bicker, Suho discreetly texted Hajin, asking if he was okay.
Hey Hajin!
Are you arriving any time soon?
We're waiting 4 u :))
LMAO Jonghak n Nayun are bickering
Yeonha is threatening to castrate u if u don't arrive soon tho…
Delivered -
Sighing, the teen pocketed his phone, and went back to joking around with his friends.
Still, one, two, three, four hours went by and no sign of Hajin.
"Okay that's it, where the fuck is that dumbass??" Yeonha grumbled angrily, as she threw the long gone bag of chips to the floor.
"I'm worried for him…Hajin's not the type of person to bail on us without letting us know…Do you guys believe something happened?" Suho asked quietly, folding his hands on his lap.
"Well, no fucking idea, but sitting around isn't gonna help our case. Come on, let's go look for that fucker." Jonghak stood up as well, stretching and grabbing his jacket, while Nayun nodded in agreement and put on her shoes.
However, just as they were heading towards the exit, a crash was heard in another room. Nayun had gone through a lot, and I mean a LOT of attempts at kidnapping or robbing because of who her parents were, so she quickly made a motion for her friends to keep quiet and grabbed the emergency knife kept in each room.
Suho, Yeonha, and Jonghak understood and followed her quietly to the adjacent room where the noise had been heard.
Yeonha motioned at the door and then at her friends, taking the lead. "At the count of three we take this fucker…one…two…three!"
Kicking open the door, they all rushed towards the figure in the black room, Suho grabbing their arms, Jonghak the legs, Yeonha covering their mouth and Nayun pointing the knife at their throat
The figure thrashed, before chomping down on Yeonha's hand, making her howl in pain and letting go of their mouth. "WHAT THE FUCK??? WHAT THE FUCK?!?!? GUYS LET ME GO!!!"
The teens all stopped and let go, Yeonha still glaring daggers at the intruder. Suho squinted his eyes at them, before recognizing the figure. "Wait…We know this voice!!"
Yeonha quickly turned the light on, just to reveal a frazzled, and bloodied Kim Hajin, holding a box of what seemed to be squashed pastries.
All of them watched stunned as Hajin gave them a glare and attempted to stand up, before Yeonha suddenly started yelling again. "WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO YOU???"
Hajin winced, before attempting to stand up. Suho and Nayun quickly rushed to help him up, side-eyeing his awful injuries. "Not so loud Yeonha…my ears hurt."
Yeonha hesitated, before nodding and following Nayun and Suho, who were probably taking Hajin to the bathroom to clean him up. Jonghak quietly followed, picking up the smushed pastries.
They reached the bathroom and quietly set Hajin down, and as Suho started wetting a towel to clean the dirt off the injured boy's face, Nayun fetched the first aid kit, and Yeonha and Jonghak quietly watched them. Nayun motioned for him to take his shirt off, and Yeonha winced at the mirage lf bruises on the boy's chest.
After minutes of awkward silence and slight flinches from Hajin as Suho and Nayun cleaned his wounds, Jonghak finally spoke up. "So…what the hell happened to you dude? I mean, did you get jumped or something?" Yeonha chewed her lip anxiously, before deciding to also question Hajin. "Yeah, and why did you decide to just break in Nayun's house? You should've called us Hajin, we were all worried." Suho also chimed in, "Hajin…if anyone…if anyone is hurting you, we can beat them up for you."
Hajin stayed quiet through it all, not seeming really willing to answer their inquiries. However, he did smile slightly when Nayun started joking around about his appearance, and giggles when Yeonha and Jonghak started bickering on what to do with the destroyed pastries.
They finished cleaning him up, and headed towards one of the biggest guest rooms to sleep. The girls made some kind of huge bed pushing all the mattresses together, and Suho and Jonghak fetched enough blankets and pillows.
The group lay down together, all close to Hajin. Suho was hugging Hajin, making sure not to press his wounds, while Nayun was spooning him. Jonghak was petting his hair, and Yeonha was simply laying there by their side.
The silence was broken when Hajin's raspy voice spoke up. "Tomorrow…tomorrow I'll tell you guys everything. But I need time…and patience from you guys." Nayun nodded her head, and Suho made a nonverbal sign of agreement. Jonghak also mumbled a quiet yes, and Yeonha agreed.
But today, they'd sleep quietly and content, knowing that their brother had arrived safely.
