The Metropolis Fire Department is on the scene at STAR Labs. Superman assists them in putting out the fire. Once the fire is out, the body of the security guard is found, along with some bullet shells. Maggie Sawyer and Dan Turpin arrive as well.

"What do we have here?" Dan asks.

"Looks like there was a fire fight. Best I can tell, one of the bullets hit a gas line." Maggie replies.

"What were they after?" Superman asks.

"Everyone out of the way!" Silas Stone says as he charges through the officers and firefighter.

"What happened here?!" Silas demands to know.

"That's exactly what we're trying to figure out." Maggie says.

"Can you get us the security tapes of the area?" Superman asks.

"Very well." Silas says with a sigh.

The group heads to the STAR security room. Another guard is there to cue up the footage. On the video, they can see Rudy loading up Joe's truck.

"That's… the janitor?" Silas reacts.

"Rudy Jones." The security guard says.

"What's he loading up?" Dan asks.

Superman recognizes those canisters from when he was there earlier as Clark. They were the Amazo serum.

The group watches on as Rudy and Joe are confronted. All the way until the explosion occurs.

"Damn!" Silas says.

Superman heads back out to the loading dock. He can see the tire skids from where the truck sped off.

"We just got a call about an overturned car in the ravine of Weston." Maggie says.

"That's not too far from here." Superman says, as he speeds off.

Superman arrives at the sight first. He looks around. He can see the ground is saturated in the Amazo serum.

"That can't be good." He says to himself.

Dan and Maggie arrive a couple of minutes later.

"You better not have touched anything." Dan says.

"I didn't, I was just looking around." Superman says.

Maggie investigates the truck.

"This is the truck from the security video." She says.

"These are the canisters too." Superman says.

"I think you guys 'ill wanna see this." Dan says.

Superman and Maggie approach Dan's position. There they see the remains of Joe's body. His body was just a husk now, it looked like the life was sucked out of it.

"What happened to him?" Superman asks. Though he fears he knows the answer. Could the Amazo serum have done this to him, Superman wonders.

"This doesn't look like Rudy Jones; this was the other guy on tape." Maggie says.

"So where's Rudy?" Dan asks.

Rudy walks up the side of the road. It was late, about one in the morning. He was still trying to process what happened to him. He looked down at his hands. His body was like some sort of purple goo now. Then when he touched Joe, he seemed to zap all his strength. More than that, he zapped Joe's memories. He knew Joe had a private hide out down by the docks. Rudy needed somewhere to hide. That's where he went.

The next day, Clark in to work at the Daily Planet. Lois comes by reading his article regarding the fire at STAR last night.

"I assume Ivo wasn't happy about this." Lois says.

"For several reasons. Not only did his serum get stolen and lost, this story also overtook what I was originally there for. He wanted me to write about the Amazo serum to help with funding. I doubt that'll happen now." Clark says.

Morgan Edge walks in with someone behind hind.

"Everyone, may I have your attention." Morgan says.

Everyone quiets down and looks over at Morgan.

"This is Samuel Foswell, he is your new chief editor of the Daily Planet." Morgan says.

"Pleased to meet you all. I'd like to take this time to introduce myself. As Morgan just said I am Samuel Foswell, I've worked in the news business for the past twenty years and I have some great ideas to make the Daily Planet the number one paper again." Samuel says.

Everyone in the news room just kind of looks on. Perry White may have been tough, but he had his worker's respect. Samuel was going to have to earn it.

"Yes, well, where's my office?" Samuel asks Morgan.

"Right this way, let me show you." Morgan says.

"I'm not calling him chief." Lois says.

"We'll have to wait and see how this goes." Clark says.

"You really have faith in everyone, don't you?" Lois asks.

"I try to." Clark says.

"I've got to go. I have more notes to get together for my interview with Mercy. See you tonight, love you." Lois says.

"Love you too." Clark responds.

Rudy was at Joe's place at the docks. He was feeling weak, like his power was drained. Even worse, he was losing Joe's memories. He couldn't recall why he ended up here. It was about noon now. Almost twelve hours since he absorbed his strength from Joe. He needed more. Rudy exited the hideout and went searching for someone else. Rudy saw a crane operator taking a coffee break. He walks up behind him. The crane operator turns around.

"Ah, what are you?" The operator asks.

Rudy grabs at him and begins zapping his strength.

"AHHHHH!" The operator yells, trying to break free.

But, he can't. Rudy sucks the life force from his body.

"More, I need more!" Rudy says.

Clark sits at his desk at the Planet. Samuel runs in.

"There's reports of a purple monster down at the pier." He yells out.

Everyone mostly keeps doing their work.

"Isn't someone going to-

Samuel looks over at Clark's chair. Clark is gone.

Rudy walks down the aisles of the pier, as the citizens run away from him. He felt like the more he absorbed, the more he needed to sustain.

"Rudy, Rudy Jones!" Superman calls out from above.

Rudy looks up.

"Rudy, you need to stop this." Superman says.

"S-Superman, help me." Rudy pleads.

"I will. Come on, I'll take you back to STAR." Superman says.

Superman approaches Rudy. Right before he reaches him, Rudy reaches out and grabs Superman. He begins to drain Superman's powers. Superman is able to punch him off, but his punch feels a little weak.

"Oh man, what a rush." Rudy says.

"He's taken down Superman." Someone yells out.

Rudy flies off. Superman tries to fly after him, but he can't. He falls to the ground with a thud.

"What?!" Superman reacts, feeling that his powers are drained.
