A lot of information

Happiness. Pure happiness. This is what she felt when she woke up with Monica in her arms. She could finally touch her again in the ways that she had desired to for the past years. She could finally allow herself again to feel the immense amount of love she had for this amazing woman. She could finally kiss her soft lips again. She was finally truly happy again.

Her boss had given her a week off work before she left for Paris in order to make sure everything would be okay. Today, she would spend the day figuring out all the things that they needed to get ready for Monica to be able to leave with her. She had already received her visa, but they needed to start the process again for Monica. A short-term visa should be possible to get in a week, but a long-term takes more time.

The company had found an apartment for Rachel, but it was only a one-bedroom one. It was okay to start with, but they would have to start searching for one with two bedrooms for when the baby arrives.

They also had to buy a plane ticket for Monica. Tickets for employees and their partners get reimbursed through the company. Luckily. Since it's not at all cheap to fly to Europe.

And the part that she disliked the most. Packing. Not only did they have to pack their clothes, they needed to pack their entire lives with them. They were going to live in Paris now. Since there is a limitation of baggage on the plane, they would have to make choices about what they will take and what not. Clothes were not so hard for Monica to leave behind, in contrast to Rachel, but in the kitchen, she had a much harder time choosing.

They also started to make a plan on how to tell the others everything. And Monica's parents. Rachel's parents knew about her job, but not yet about Monica. Rachel was going to have dinner with them and Monica tonight to tell them the big news. Even though they were divorced and had difficulties with each other, they tried to press them down as much as possible when Rachel was there.

The dinner last night couldn't have gone better. Today, they were preparing to tell Phoebe, Julie, Joey, Chandler and Ross. Even though it was a big deal that Monica was pregnant and that they were going to move to Paris, they didn't want to make a big deal out of them being in a relationship. At least not if it was about them being two women in a relationship. It shouldn't be a bigger deal than if they were introducing a hypothetical boyfriend.

So they decided that they would host a dinner as a couple. Monica had already gone to the supermarket to get everything that she needed to cook dinner.

Around seven, Ross and Julie arrived. Not much later, Joey and Chandler came in too and Phoebe arrived as the last one. As soon as everyone was there, sitting comfortably on the couch, conversation flowing, Monica and Rachel dropped their act of being just friends. Rachel had been holding herself back, waiting anxiously for Phoebe to finally arrive, to be able to hug Monica who was preparing dinner. Now, though, Rachel had to try her hardest not to sprint to the kitchen.

„Missed me already?", Monica asked when she felt two arms coming around her waist.

„So much", Rachel kissed her cheek.

„Me too", Monica smiled and leaned her head sideways against Rachel's head which was leaning on top of her right shoulder, „In about ten minutes, dinner is ready. Would you mind putting the drinks already on the table?"

„Of course not", Rachel lifted her head, but her right hand came up to Monica's left cheek and she turned her head gently, „But first, I want to kiss you", Rachel said, already staring at Monica's lips.

Their lips met in a soft kiss. They didn't linger too long, though. Monica didn't want to burn the food. When Rachel opened the fridge to take out the variety of drinks they had brought from the supermarket, she sneaked a look at the gang sitting on the couch. They were all still too engaged in their conversation to have noticed their kiss. All but Chandler. Who sat there with a smile playing on his lips. When their eyes met, his smile got bigger. This was not the reaction she was expecting, but she didn't comment on it, she simply smiled back.

They all sat down at the table when Monica announced that dinner was ready. Monica sat down and on her right, Rachel quickly claimed a chair. Right in front of her, Chandler took place. „Oh, honey, I forgot a spoon for the rice, could you grab one, please?", Monica asked Rachel.

„Of course", she stood up and went to get the spoon, „There", she handed the spoon to Monica, who looked up at her to take a spoon. Rachel took advantage of the situation and kissed Monica's forehead before she went to sit down.

Phoebe, Julie and Ross exchanged confused looks. They knew Rachel and Monica were really close, but this was the first time they saw them interacting this intimate. Joey, already digging into his food, was still clueless about what was going on. Chandler just shrugged his shoulders to the others. When everyone was eating, Chandler lightly pressed his foot against Monica's. Looking up, she saw Chandler looking between her and Rachel and asking with his facial expressions whether they were together. He knew way more of the history between her and Rachel than anyone else sitting at this table.

Monica smiled and nodded slightly. Chandler cracked a big smile, trying to convey his happiness for his best girl friend in his smile.

Monica finished as one of the first ones. She was a fast eater. It was still a habit that she couldn't get rid of. Rachel, seeing Monica's hand lying on the table, put her hand over hers and squeezed it gently. Monica turned her hand and held Rachel's hand too.

Ross's eyes squinted together, trying to make sense of what he was seeing. When he looked at Julie with a crease between his eyebrows, she just shrugged at him, letting him know that she was as much in the dark about what was happening as him.

Standing up to clear away the now empty plates of everyone, Monica first put her hand on Rachel's neck and bent down to an already looking up Rachel. In front of all their close friends, their lips met. When they pulled back, they just stared at each other. A smile on their lips and their love for each other clearly visible on their faces. Monica continued gathering the plates.

„Wha- I- Huh", Ross couldn't make a sentence, „What is going on? Are you two together or something?", he asked, disbelief evident in his voice.

„Yeah", Rachel answered simply.

„What?", four voices exclaimed while a fifth one said more quietly, „Finally".

Rachel shot him a confused look, but before she could ask what he meant, Phoebe was already shooting a question.

„When did you get together?"

„Monica is gay?", Ross looked more confused than ever now.

„This question is a bit complicated", Rachel answered Phoebe first, „And no, Monica is not a lesbian like I am. Mon?", Rachel didn't want to talk for Monica. She knew how difficult Monica had had it with accepting her sexuality and she wanted Monica to tell it to her friends and brother in her own way.

„I'm not a lesbian, because I also feel attracted towards men, but I'm also not straight. These past few years, I've found out that my sexuality is bisexual. I feel attraction towards men as well as towards women", Monica explained, sitting back down at the table now most of it was cleared.

„Maybe we should move to the couch. Then we can explain everything", Rachel suggested.

„So, what is so complicated?", Joey asked once they sat down.

„Well, we already were a couple three years ago. We went out for a few months, but we weren't ready to tell you guys yet. It was going really well, but the United States doesn't like to make it easy for us. Same-sex couples can't get legally married - they can only have the ceremony - neither can they have children legally, they either need to have an enormous amount of money, which we didn't have at all, or they need to live childless. This was our breaking point. Monica tried to move on with men, since they were the only ones that could give her a family. I tried to go out on dates with women. I tried to live together with Ellie. We both tried to move on, but after three years, we came to the conclusion that we couldn't. Without each other, we were too heartbroken to give our heart to someone else."

Monica ran her hand through Rachel's hair. Rachel leaned in towards her touch and sat even closer to Monica than the relatively small sofa already did.

„So what changed now? You're going to give up having a family?", Phoebe asked softly.

„No, that's our next big news", Monica said. She found it very important that she was the one telling the next part. She took a big breath and decided to just rip the bandaid off, „I'm pregnant."

„What?", Ross losing his mind. Now, though, they were all five surprised. Chandler knew more than the others, but not by far everything.

„Who is the father? Is it Richard?", Joey asked.

Scrunching up her nose, Rachel shook her head no. „No, no, I don't know exactly actually", Monica said. She didn't know her brother's face could get this red. He rarely got this worked up.

„Mon, what the hell? How can you not know who is the father of your baby?"

„Because it was a one-night stand, okay. He was handsome and I was sad. I asked him to come with me to my apartment and the morning after, he took off and left a note. We didn't exchange enough information for me to be able to find him", she explained as simply as she could.

„I'm going to find this bastard. Who does he think he is?", Ross started to get up from the couch, but Julie pulled him back down. She saw how serious and important all of this was for Monica and Rachel. She loved Ross dearly, but sometimes his emotions got the best of him.

„Actually, I rather have that you didn't. This way, he will never know that he is biologically a father to someone and I will have a clear conscience. And, this is actually the perfect solution for Rachel and me to have our own family", Monica smiled at Rachel, who pulled Monica closer towards her.

„So there is going to be a baby crawling around here in a couple of months?", Chandler asked with a smile and a twinkle in his eyes. Feeling ecstatic that Monica's wish was finally coming true.

„Not exactly", now it was Rachel's turn to explain again.

„You're going to move?", Phoebe asked.

„Yes. Do you remember that big position at work that I applied for?", she started. When they nodded, she continued, „I got it", a round of congratulations went around and Rachel went on, „But, I will have to relocate for this promotion."

„Relocate to where?", Julie asked.

„To Paris."

„Paris?", Joey's eyes were wide open.

„But, but, how are you going to raise a family together if Rachel is in Paris?", Phoebe asked.

„Unless", Chandler started, already connecting the dots, „You are both moving to Paris."

Five pairs of eyes looked expectantly in the direction of the sofa with the couple sitting on it. When they both nodded, their mouths fell open.

„Is there more? Because I don't think I can handle more new information than this", Ross said, grabbing his head.

„So, you are in a loving relationship with a baby on the way and you're moving to Paris because Rachel got promoted", Julie summarised.

„Exactly", Rachel smiled.

„When? Are you moving to Paris?", Phoebe asked.

„Next Wednesday", as soon as the words left Monica's mouth, Ross let himself fall on Julie's lap.

„Are you serious?", Chandler asked, looking quite stunned.

„As serious as we can be", Monica answered.

„But I have a question", Rachel looked at Chandler, remembering his weird reactions from before, „Why weren't you shocked like the rest when we kissed?", Rachel asked.

Chandler looked at Monica before he answered. Monica had confided in him that night. He didn't want to break her trust, so he needed to have consent before answering this question. After Monica's nod, he started explaining. „I knew about you already. When Mon and I got drunk at Joey's birthday, she confided in me at told me about her sexuality and about how it hurt when she saw you with Ellie. So, I was surprised that you got back together, but I wasn't surprised about the two of you being in a relationship. Mostly, I was just happy. Happy to see the lights back in Monica's eyes. I missed those happy sparkles", Chandler smiled softly at her.

Monica reached out and squeezed Chandler's leg, which was resting on the coffee table.

„Okay, let me get this straight. Next week, there will be an empty apartment across from us, because the girls who used to live there, who are in a relationship now, moved to Paris for Rachel's promotion and to have a family there", Joey was still trying to wrap his head around all of this.

„Yep, and we would really appreciate it if you guys could be there Saturday evening, because my parents are going to come and they are really against same-sex relationships, so we will need the support", Monica was already dreading that day.

„Of course we'll be there!", Julie said, patting Ross's knee to let them know he would be there too, even though he was still processing all the information.

„You can count on us", Phoebe spoke for everyone, „I'm so happy for you guys", she stood up and came to Monica and Rachel with open arms.

Standing up too, they met Phoebe in her hug. Soon, the others joined too and it was just one big hug from all the people they loved they were going to leave behind in a little less than a week.

„Hey, Pheebs, check it out. For my dessert, I have chosen to make a traditional English trifle!", Rachel said proudly. It was Saturday afternoon and Monica's parents would be there in a couple of hours.

„Wow, that sounds great! And what are you making Monica, in case Rachel's dessert is... so good that I eat all of it. There's none left for anybody else!", she said much too excited to be believable.

„Nothing", Monica answered, chuckling at Phoebe's lack of subtleness.

„Nothing?", Rachel suddenly felt a whole lot more pressure. She had assumed that Monica would make a back-up dessert.

„No, sweetie, I trust you", Monica smiled at her.

„So, if-if I mess this up, there's nothing else for dessert?"

„You're not gonna mess it up", Monica came a bit closer to her.

„Wow, Monica, I love that, you really have faith in me. Thank you", Rachel was touched, „Technical question, how do you know when uh, the butter's done?", she said when Monica looked with her over her shoulder.

„Well, it's done about two minutes before it looks like that", Monica answered matter of factly, „There is some more butter in the fridge", Monica winked and kissed her cheek before continuing her preparations for the dinner. She tried to divert her thoughts by being occupied the whole time.

The preparations went smoothly and everything went exactly like it was supposed to go. Now, there was only the actual dinner with the conversation left. Monica had gone through hundreds of possibilities in her head about how this conversation could go, but she still didn't feel prepared. The only consolation is that she could do it with an amazing woman standing next to her. She was immensely grateful to her friends for being there for her and Rachel. Only Julie couldn't make it, because of work, but Ross let them know that ‚she sends her love and support'.

„Hello everybody", Judy greeted when Monica opened the door for her. Chandler had the task to take care of Jack and his jacket and Monica would take care of her mother. Rachel would be standing ready to keep the conversation going while Chandler and Monica took away the coats.

„Mr. and Mrs. Geller, you look wonderful, it is great to have you here, let us take off your coats!", Chandler overplayed it a bit, but Monica was grateful to have him supporting her.

Chandler went to take off Jack's coat. Noticing little white flakes on Jack's shoulders, he began to wipe them off. „Whoa, snowing out there?", Chandler tried to keep the conversation going.

„No", Jack answered clearly not happy. Chandler realized that it was probably dandruff instead of snow and the angry stare of Jack made him a bit scared.

„I don't think your dad likes me", Chandler whispered when Monica and he went to the - recently re-named - guest bedroom with the coats.

„I know, I've never been able to figure out why over these past few years", Monica said shrugging.

„Years? He's been disliking me for years? I thought it was just today he didn't like me", Chandler looked at her with big eyes.

„Oh, yeah, but don't worry about it", she waved it away. She already was nervous enough for today.

Chandler shook his head but decided not to push her more on this subject. Not right now, anyway.

„Monica, all this food looks wonderful", Jack said when dinner was served, „You should think about doing this for a living", he joked.

Chandler, trying to make Jack like him, laughed at his joke and points at Jack. „Ok, I have dandruff. There's no need to laugh and point", Jack commented, getting quite irritated by him.

„Dad, Chandler was just laughing at your joke", she tried to help Chandler.

„My joke wasn't funny", he shook his head and looked at Judy who had the same irritated look on her face, „What's the matter with him?", he whispered, but loud enough for the whole table to hear it.

„I think he's stoned again", Judy whispered equally loudly, rolling her eyes.

„What?", Chandler looked shocked, but Judy and Jack ignored him, instead digging into the food.

Rachel looked confused at Monica who was biting her nails. A habit of hers when she was stressed or when she was worried. Rachel gently put her hand over Monica's hand and brought it to her lap, giving her a squeeze. Monica gave her a weak smile and turned her hand so they could hold hands.

Ross in the meantime, had figured out why his parents didn't like Chandler. Worried about Monica and not wanting to make this evening harder on her than necessary, he whispered to Chandler, „Dude, I need to talk to you after dinner."

Dinner went by without any other incidents. While Monica was clearing the table, Ross took Chandler to the guest bedroom.

„Okay, I think I might know why my parents don't like you", Ross started when he closed the door.

„You do? Why?"

„Okay, remember, we were young. Spring break, sophomore year, I got high in my bedroom and my parents walked in and smelled it and so I told them that you had gotten stoned and jumped out the window."

„What?! Why did you do that?"

„I don't know, aheh, yours was the first name that popped into my head, I'm- I'm sorry. I-I didn't think it would matter."

„How could it not matter?!"

„How was I supposed to know we'd end up being friends after college?"

„What about all that "friends forever" stuff?"

„I don't know, I-I was all high."

„Mom and dad just sent me in here to find out if you were trying to get Ross stoned!", Monica came inside the bedroom, slightly angry that this evening got even more complicated now than it was supposed to be.

„Your parents caught Ross smoking pot in college and he blamed it on me!"

„Ross, I can't believe you'd do that!"

„Your parents hate me! Will you fix this?", Chandler asked Ross.

„Okay, okay, I'll tell 'em it wasn't Chandler who got high. Now who should I say it was?"

„You! It's not like it's a big deal! You-you don't still do it or anything!"

„Alright, alright, now-now who should I say tricked me into doing it?"

„Nobody! You're going out there and telling them exactly what happened", Monica was getting annoyed with her brother.

„Really?"

„Yes!", Chandler said. As Ross starts to leave, he asks, „Oh wait, is there anything else I should know?"

„No...Oh..yeah, um", he paused at the door and laughed a little, „You microwaved a bunch of my dad's records."

„Why?"

„Evidently, you-you weren't very good at handling your high", Ross opened the door and left a stunned Monica and Chandler behind.

„Man, I'm sorry this mess had to come out today of all days", Chandler winced.

„It's okay. I just hope Ross takes care of it", she sighed.

„Ross? Let's go", Monica had been patient all through dessert, but now her patience was wearing thin.

„Oh yeah, about telling Mom and Dad, I was thinking about maybe writing a letter", he said.

„Alright, you know what? That's it. You've had your chance", Monica stepped to the living room where her parents were seated on the couch.

„Wha-what?", Ross saw his sister going to their parents.

„Mom! Dad! Ross smoked pot in college!", she declared loudly.

„What?!", they looked shocked at Ross.

„You are such a tattletale!", he said to Monica in a childlike tone, „Mom, Dad, you remember that time you walked in my room and smelled marijuana?"

„Yes", they looked at Chandler angrily.

„Well I told you it was Chandler who was smoking the pot but it was me. I'm sorry."

„It was you?", Judy asked with disbelief in her voice.

„Yeah and Dad, Chandler didn't melt your records. Ross did!", she pointed to Ross.

„Is that true?", Jack asked.

„And Dad, you know that mailman that you got fired? He didn't steal your Playboys! Ross did!", it felt good to let everything out. Besides, maybe it will make her news look a bit less shocking.

The Gellers stared at Ross, who looked at his parents with an afraid, shocked look.

„Yeah, well, Hurricane Gloria didn't break the porch swing, Monica did!", he confessed.

Her parents looked at her, which made her snap. „Ross hasn't worked at the museum for a year!", she knew it wasn't her place to say this, but she was past the point to care. Ross had yelled at his boss over a sandwich and since then he had been fired. He had tried to get his job back, but the boss didn't want him back.

„Monica and Rachel are living together!", Ross snapped under his parents's glaring faces.

Monica and Rachel were both shocked. Ross realized that he shouldn't have crossed this line and looked a bit guilty.

„I love Jacques Cousteau!", Phoebe said loudly, trying to break the tension a bit."

„That's a lot of information to get in thirty seconds", Judy rubbed her temples, „Phoebe, I'm sorry, but I think Jacques Cousteau is dead. Monica, haven't you been living with Rachel as your roommate for a couple of years now?", she asked confused.

„And we kinda figured about the porch swing", her dad added.

„Ross, drugs? Playboys?"

„What happened son?", Jack asked.

„I-I uh, I got tricked into all those things!", he tried to defend himself.

„Chandler! You've been Ross's best friend all these years, stuck by him during the drug problems. Well, I don't know what to say. You're a wonderful human being", she smiled at him.

„Thank you!", Chandler looked happily.

Rachel had stood up and had walked to Monica by now. Taking Monica's hand she looked at Monica. They were both a bit relieved that her parents didn't understand what Ross had meant. Monica looked back and gave her a small smile. Leading Rachel in front of the TV, her parents' attention shifted from Chandler to the two women standing in front of them.

„Mom, dad, there is something we need to tell you", Monica started, still holding on to Rachel's hand, „Rachel and I are indeed living together, but no longer as roommates. We are in a relationship", as soon as the words were out, she squeezed Rachel's hand tight, scared for their reaction.

„But Rachel is a girl?", his dad said, confused.

„Yeah. I'm bisexual. I fall for both men and women", she tried to keep it simple.

„Oh, what kind of made-up stuff is that?", her mother exclaimed.

Ignoring her mother for now, she continued. „Rachel and I are moving to Paris on Wednesday and we are going to have a family there", Monica used as few words as possible so as to not make it too confusing.

„To Paris?", her parents looked shocked.

„Yes. Rachel got promoted and her new position is in Paris. I'm going with her and I'm going to search for a job that I can do at least until the baby is born."

„The baby? Which baby?", her mother seemed to perk up a little at the mention of a grandchild.

„Our baby. I'm pregnant."

„Please", her mom started laughing hysterically, „You can't get pregnant from a girl. Let alone raising a kid without a man."

Having expected this reaction, Monica simply answered, „I'm pregnant from a man I can't contact and I chose to have the baby with Rachel as my partner. The baby will be raised by two loving mothers", Rachel squeezed her hand and smiled at her.

„This is ridiculous. At least you'll be in Paris. That way I won't have to explain to all my friends what an embarrassment of a daughter I have", she started to get up from the couch, „Come on, Jack. We still have a long drive ahead", she walked to the guest bedroom and took their jackets.

„Bye Ross, bye Chandler", she said, handing Jack his jacket. Jack looked guiltily backwards right before his wife shut the apartment door.

The apartment was completely silent. Everyone was too shocked to speak. Monica's sob was the first sound to break the silence. Rachel's arms were immediately engulfing her, quickly followed by the arms of all her friends.

„I'm so sorry, Mon", Ross said, feeling horrible for his sister.

„Yeah, well", she said with a cracking voice, wiping her tears, „It went more or less how I expected it to go."

„Now I understand why you were so quiet when you came back from that dinner with your parents right before we broke up", Rachel said, having wet cheeks too.

„Well, they suck. I think you guys are amazing together and this baby is the luckiest baby in the whole world", Phoebe said, having her arms around both Rachel and Monica.

„Thanks, Pheebs", they hugged her.

Rachel was showering and Monica had just finished putting away the now-clean dishes from the disaster evening. She went in the direction of the couch, but a knock on the door got her turning around.

„Dad?", she said surprised when she opened her door, „What are you doing here?"

„Hey, Harmonica", he said, a sad and guilty expression on his face, „I came to apologize."

„Oh", Monica closed the door behind them and followed her dad to the couch.

„I drove your mom home, but I turned right back around. I know that she is really weird about gay people, but I didn't expect her to be so mean to her own daughter. You must have felt terrible."

„Well, yeah", Monica admitted in a small voice.

„Are you happy? With Rachel?", he asked.

„Yes. I'm happier than I ever was. She is the one, dad. I feel it", Monica said.

„Good. And the baby? Everything is good? You are both healthy?"

„Yeah, I went to the doctor this week and everything was how it should be", she smiled.

„I'm glad. Look, you're a big girl. I just hope you know what you're doing", he said with still a slightly worried expression on his face.

„I do, dad. More than ever", she said. Noticing his tie, she asked, „Where did you get this tie? It's so colourful", normally, her dad only wore grey-ish ties.

„Oh, I got it at a gay shop or something. The guy said that the rainbow was something that represented being gay. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I support you. In whatever you choose to do in your life", he tried not to let the tears fall, even though they were dangerously close to the edge of his eye.

„You don't know how much this means to me", Monica said, leaning in to hug her dad.

„Honey, are you also going to shower tonight", Rachel asked, coming out of the bathroom in her bathrobe, and drying her hair. Seeing her girlfriend sitting on the couch with her father, Rachel stopped walking.

„Oh, hi Mr. Geller", Rachel said, thanking herself that she had decided to put on a robe in case Joey or Chandler were in the living room.

„Hi, Rachel", he answered.

„No, I'm going to shower tomorrow", Monica answered Rachel, „Dad came back to talk a bit more about us. Why don't you join us?", Monica proposed.

„Oh, okay, let me just put on something more decent", Rachel said, going into their bedroom.

„I have to say, out of all the relationships that you have had, I think this one is the healthiest", her father commented. He had known Rachel for quite some time now. When Monica had stood there a couple of hours ago, telling them about her recently made life choices, he had watched Rachel as much as Monica. He had seen how she had been silently encouraging his daughter through his wife's mean comments.

Monica smiled at her father. „I think so too. And the happiest", Monica said.

„So, Rachel, what is this job you're going to do in Paris", her father asked her when she walked in. She took a seat next to Monica, knowing it was okay after having heard the last bit of their conversation. Monica took her hand in hers.

„Well, I'm going to be head of the spring and summer women's clothing lines of Ralph Lauren. I will lead a team designing the new collections and I will be able to design a lot of clothes as well", she said. Monica loved to watch Rachel talking about her job. She always lights up and her smile is so genuine. She had really found her calling.

„Waw, that's quite impressive. You're going to have time to take care of your child when in a couple of months?", he asked.

Monica's heart swelled so much that she wasn't sure her chest could contain it anymore. It meant the world to her that her dad saw Rachel as much as a parent to this baby as he saw her as a parent.

„Yes, I will make time for them. For Monica as well as for the baby. They are the most important people in my life. I already talked to my boss about it and, because I'm head of a department, I get more freedom in choosing when I work. I can go to work earlier and be done earlier so that I can be home in time for my family."

„That's great to hear. Alright, I'm going to leave you two to enjoy the rest of the evening. I still have quite a drive to do and it's getting quite late", Jack said, standing up from the couch.

„Okay", Monica stood up too, quickly followed by Rachel, „Thank you for coming back, dad. I really appreciate it", Monica said to her dad who had opened the door already.

„Make sure to call every once in a while, okay? You're going to be living on an entirely different continent in a few days. And I'm still a dad. I still worry about my daughter", he said, his eyes getting a bit misty again.

„I will, dad", Monica promised. She stepped in to hug her dad goodbye. At least for quite some months.

After hugging her tightly, he released his daughter and held his arms out for Rachel. A bit surprised, but mostly happy about the complete turn-around Monica's father did, she hugged him too.

„Take care of my daughter, please", he whispered.

„I will, I promise", Rachel answered. He released Rachel and said a final goodbye before he walked out the door.

„Drive back safe, dad", Monica said, waving her dad goodbye from the door.
