chapter 27
"I can see him" Castiel's voice could be heard through the phone as Dean had him on speaker. The three Winchesters listened to the angel.
"Okay Cas what is he doing?" Dean asked as Castiel tracked the demon Crowley.
There was a rustling sound that could be heard through the phone most likely caused by the wind. "He's currently making a deal" Cas said quietly. The three siblings looked at each other making a face.
"It appears that the deal is over…" There was a long pause as the trio looked at one another waiting for the angels voice to return to the phone. "I've followed him though I cannot go any further. The property is protected with Enochian wardings."
"Alright, thanks Cas!"
"Thanks!"
"Thank you!"
All three siblings thank the angel at the same time as Dean hangs up the phone.
Later that night the siblings devise a plan to get in Crowleys compound. With much convincing to her brothers, Lillian thought it would be a good idea if she could get them past the gate by acting as a damsel in distress. Sam and Dean are still new to the fact that she is a nephilim. She had to remind them she will be fine with an hour of convincing. They finally agreed when they realized they couldn't come up with a better plan.
Lillian wore a skin tight black dress with a sweetheart neckline that stopped just above her knees. She had a pair of dainty black heels on to match and fur thrown over her shoulders. Her heels clicked on the ground as she approached the large gate. She tapped the comm to speak to someone and put on a voice of distress.
"Please! I need help, I think I'm lost and my car stopped working! Can I please use a phone?"
As she waited at the gate she heard two footsteps approach from the other side. They opened the gate to let her in as one gave her a sadistic smile. Sam and Dean came out of the shadows behind her, ready to defend her honor. Not needing to waste any energy, with a snap of her two fingers the pair of demons exploded in front of her. Only a speck of blood landed on her cheek.
Sam and Dean rushed in front of her to stare at the sight in front of them. Stunned by the move that she just pulled. She was unbothered. Swiping the blood off her cheek with her thumb she carried on down the path towards the building. "You coming?" She asked. Both her brothers looked at one another concerned then back at their sister as they kept going.
They first cut off all the electricity for the building. Then they made their way around the house spray painting hidden devils traps and wardings anywhere that seemed durable.
The siblings spray painted devil traps under almost every rug they walked over. Just as they flipped over a rug they painted, they were corned by three demons. One approached them face on and two corned the three siblings from behind. Lillian recognized the one in front of them to be Crowley. She gave him a skeptical look as he eyed her back.
"The three stooges" he greets them. "I'm not surprised to see you here…Though I am surprised it took you this long."
Crowley then lifts his head as if he's sniffing the air. Smelling what must be the spray paint that was just sprayed all around the house he give the Winchesters a dirty look. Looking down he uses his foot to kick the rug over to see a devils trap to be revealed on the other side. Crowleys face turned beet red as he yelled "Do you have any idea how expensive this rug you just ruined is!!?"
Lillian looked at Crowley surprised. This is a totally different Crowley than the one she met in Hell. She looked over at her brothers and they seemed a bit on edge, not knowing what to do with a temperamental demon.
Crowley suddenly took out the colt. "You came for this?" He lifted the gun and aimed it to shoot between Dean's eyes. Lillian's eyes turned red as she was ready to lunge for the demon but he changed the direction of his aim for the demon standing behind Dean and pulled the trigger. He killed the other demon standing next to Lillian and Sam.
"Fancy a chat in private, yeah?" Crowley then ushered the trio to follow him into the room down the hall.
They enter what looks like an office. Crowley starts off saying "I could've buried the colt. Hidden it. But I told you where to find it."
"Why?" Dean asked the big question.
"Because I want you to take it and bury it in Lucifers face."
Pure confusion washed over everyone's face. Everyone except Crowley, he was very sure of himself.
"Why would you want this?" Lillian asked.
"You functioning morons seem to forget Lucifer is an angel, not a demon. He publicizes how much he hates humankind. Demons are mere servants to him and cannon fodder. When he exterminates the humans, who do you think will be next? This is about survival and getting back to what I do best.. which is sales"
Lillian thought about every word Crowley said. While it could be true, she couldn't see it happening. Lucifer has changed a lot. He still has a lot of changing to do and she wants to help him, but he literally agreed to not destroy the world. She can't see him destroying his own kingdom. Who would serve him then? He makes comments about humans from time to time but she has a gut feeling he is changing for the better. What Crowley speaks of is a farce.
Lillian stood quiet in her thoughts as her brothers nodded at the demon accepting his answer. Sam extended his hand out towards Crowley gesturing to hand the colt over. Crowley stood up and held the gun out but not towards Sam. He extends his arm to the female behind him.
"Not you, her " Crowley spoke. Lillian looked up at her brothers who were as confused as she was. She walked forward, stepping to the desk where Crowley stood behind.
"I want you to be the one to put the bullet in him." Crowley smiled slyly at the nephilim.
Her brothers protested behind her. Lillian reached her arm out and took the gun from him whilst glaring red eyes in his direction. "It's probably best if I do" she spoke up. Crowley slightly tilted his head at her. Lillian's eyes went back to their normal shade of green as she turned to Dean.
"It can be fatal for you if you get hurt. I have less chance of doing so." She handed Dean the gun to tuck in the waist band of his pants. Her dress sadly had no pockets.
Dean looked over his sisters face to see if she was really okay with this. He knows his sister is strong. He just saw her explode two demons. He nodded in acceptance. Lillian finally let out a breath she didn't realize she had been holding.
As soon as the siblings were in agreement, Sam spoke up. "Do you know by any chance where Lucifer is?"
Crowley looked as if he had to dig around in his brain for information for a second before he quickly answered. "He is currently in Carthage, Missouri."
Then Dean abruptly raised the gun, aiming it at Crowley. Without hesitation he pulled the trigger. Though nothing happened. The gun was unloaded. Crowley was left completely unfazed by the eldest Winchesters actions. "Right! You will need bullets!" The demon exclaimed.
He then opened a drawer in his desk and pulled out a wooden box. Opening the box it revealed an array of bullets specifically designed for the colt. He handed them over to Dean.
Before leaving Dean asked "Any advice?"
For the second time that night Crowley's face turned red as he yelled "How about don't mess up!!"
They were at Bobby's now. Jo and Ellen were over, along with Cas. They were going to join to help with the trip to Carthage the next day. Everyone was drinking and have the best time they could while it could last because anything could happen the next day.
Lillian sat out front away from everyone. She was lost in her thoughts. Part of her was sick of lying to everyone. She wishes she could tell them that the world isn't going to end. That Lucifer isn't terrible. Though she knows they would never understand.
She is also terrified of tomorrow. She is scared of hurting Lucifer. Lillian doesn't know what the colt will do to him. She couldn't live with herself if she kills him. If his life is taken by her hand she would feel eternally guilty.
Sam's presence disrupted her thoughts as he sat down next to her. His should brushed against her as they sat side by side in silence. After a while the quiet was broken by Lillian.
"Will you ever talk to me about it?" She asked. Referring to why he pushed her away when he went to Stanford then started acting weird.
Sam exhaled a deep sigh. "I want to Lillian. Believe me I really do, I share everything with you. Though this.. it's different." She looked at him with concern as he paused. "I'm ashamed of how I treated you. I'm sorry, I really am. I want things to go back to how they were. Back to normal, you're my sister Lily, I miss you."
Lillian teared up as she listened to Sam. "Sammy, I miss you too." She reached over and wrapped her arms around his neck. "I'm sorry if I was a bitch or for pushing you away too." He smiled at her apology and took in her warmth as he hugged her back.
They break apart from the embrace. Sam is left with a nagging in the back of his mind that he can't let go of. "By the way, where did you go the night we were hunting Letica Gore?"
"Chuck prayed to me and asked if I could stay in the building with him." She replied nonchalantly. Sam nodded at her answer as they both turned to face forward and look at the stars in the sky. Every so often Sam peaked over at his sister from the corner of his eyes with suspicion.
Lillian stood up abruptly and brushed her pants off. "Where are you off to?" Sam asked.
"To do something good before the night ends."
Lillian made her way through the house. She spotted Cas playing a drinking game with Ellen and Jo. Laughing to herself she kept walking. Lillian then found Bobby in the living room in his wheelchair. She leaned forward and put her hands on each of his shoulders. He protested as she continued to do so until a glowing light appeared under her hands and engulfed his body. He looked at her in wonder, almost like he didn't recognize who he was looking at.
Bobby suddenly kicked the wheelchair out from under him and stood up. He slowly advanced towards Lillian. "H- How? How is this possible?" he questioned her.
"I'm a nephilim."
Bobby's eyes widened at her. "There is more to be talked about this but for now you are a miracle girl." He stretched his legs out and walked over to her giving her a hug. She accepted it happily.
Pulling away he asked her to find his camera which she obliged. As she went off to look she could hear him showing off his legs to everyone in the other room. "Now everyone get your asses in here!" Bobby called for everyone into the room Lillian already resided in.
They all gathered in as Lillian handed the camera to Bobby. He set it up with the timer. "Everyone find your places!" Castiel, Lillian, Sam, Dean and Bobby stood next to each other in that order. Jo stood in front/in between of Sam and Dean. Ellen stood by Bobby.
Before the picture took Bobby said "I'm gonna need something to remember all your sorry asses by."
Castiel responded saying "Tomorrow we hunt the devil, this is our last night on earth." Lillians face drained of color as she was filled with dread.
The group arrived at Carthage. Bobby stayed behind like he was going to originally just in case if something went wrong. Everyone stepped out of the vehicles they arrived in and took in the state of the town. It was ghostly, completely abandoned. At least to human eyes.
Castiel and Lillian's eyes scanned up and down the street. Lillian's eyes frantically sought out the angels that stood beside her as she spoke. "Reapers."
She turned around to face the opposite direction where everyone stood. Hearing the Harvelle women speak up behind her she never got a chance to make out what they said before she abruptly left. Lillian felt Lucifer nearby and sought him out.
She found herself in front of an abandoned diner that was located a few blocks away from where she just stood. As she walked into the musty diner on light footsteps she could feel herself nearing closer towards Lucifer. She swung the door open entering the back of the diner finding a surprisingly clean and sterile kitchen. Lucifer stood there leaning against a counter like he had been waiting for her arrival.
She gently approached him. "What happened here? Where are all of the people of this town?" She asked concerned.
He turned his head so his face could be seen through the light shinning through the window above them. "This is where I will be raising Death, Lillian. He has some high demands." He then shrugged at her as he spoke again, "I know, it can get a bit messy."
"Messy!? You wiped out a whole town!" She shouted.
Lucifer stepped closer towards her. "Do not act like this wasn't to be avoided. Either way this would have happened." Lillian glared at him in response. "Fine. It would've been execution by my hand or my brother's, think of it as me putting them out of their misery for a good cause." He said in a tired annoyed tone.
She thought to herself for a moment then nodded. "Fine." They fell in a silence for a moment and Lillian took this time to look at him now that he was in the light. His vessel was faring worse than the last time she saw him. All the other times she saw him his skin was discolored and he looked as if he hadn't slept in years. Though now it looks like his vessel is starting to reject him. His skin is starting to peel away around his forehead and cheek. She doesn't know how much longer this vessel can hold him.
Lucifer stopped her thoughts when he grazed her shoulder with his hand. He looked as if he was listening in to something going on. "I will be right back. Don't move a muscle." He winked at her then left.
A few minutes later Lucifer returned just as he said he would. He found Lillian leaning in the same place Lucifer previously was. He walked up to Lillian and roughly grabbed her arm without saying a word. Before Lillian could protest the room changed and she was in a new building.
Lillian was now face to face with Castiel who was trapped within a ring of holy fire. Lillian was startled by the sight before her, not expecting the sudden change of events. Castiel took notice of Lillian and Lucifer's grip on her arm.
"Don't- You can't hurt her!" Castiel begged for her release.
Lucifer's gaze turned down to Lillian whose arm is still within his tight grip. He peered down at her and moved a strand of hair out of her face with the back of his hand. Lillian couldn't breathe. She had to act with fear. Though part of the fear written on her features was not a lie due to the fact that she feared what could be the outcome of everything. She did truly fear the safety of her friends and family even if Lucifer promised no harm would come to them.
"I wouldn't hurt her." Lucifer said entranced as he brushed the hair from Lillians face.
Before Castiel or Lillian could speak a response, the demon Meg appeared in the doorway. She nodded her head to gesture to Lucifer that she needed to talk privately. Lucifer groaned and let go of Lillian before looking her over with his eyes. He sauntered over to Meg as she whispered to him about something that was going on.
Lillian walked up to Cas whispering "What happened? Are you hurt?"
"I haven't been harmed." Castiel lowered his voice more as he spoke, "Lucifer tried tempting me to join his side for the battle. He tried saying he has some irresistible new plan."
Lillian played stupid, "What do you think he is talking about?"
"I don't know."
"Do you want me to get you out of here?" Lillian asked urgently as it looked like Meg and Lucifer were wrapping up their conversation.
"No I can get out on my own, I will distract them for the time being. Go find everyone and make sure they are safe. Get the colt from Dean." Lillian nodded in acknowledgement.
Dean had held onto the colt when they arrived in Carthage. He didn't want Lillian to hold onto it for whatever protective older brother reason. Lillian thinks that he was hoping it would come down to the last minute and he would have to do be the one to shoot Lucifer to spare Lillian the danger.
Lillian located where everyone was. They were trapped in a hardware store surrounded by a large group of hellhounds. When she flew in the store her brothers were in the midst of making a bomb. They were so focused they didn't even notice her arrival.
Lillian turned around and saw Jo laying almost lifeless against a shelf as her mother cradled her. Suppressing all the rage and sadness that formed from the sight before her she ran towards them. Crouching down in front of Jo, Lillian lifted her arms from the giant gash holding her midsection together. She inspected the wound and winced at the sight of it. Jo cried out in pain as Ellen silently sobbed. She rubbed her daughters shoulders for comfort.
Lillian spoke up over the cries. "Hey, I can help you, yeah?" Jo sucked in a blubbering sob as Lillian spoke. "Let me help?" Lillian turned to look at Ellen for approval. The older woman nodded her head at the Winchester.
Lillian placed her hands on the open wound and focused her grace on healing the girl that sat in front of her. Her hands brilliantly glowed as Jo's midsection healed. Lillian pulled her hands away and Jo looked down to see she was fine. The color returned to her face. Ellen looked at Jo in awe as she started crying tears of joy that her daughter was not going to die today. Ellen and Jo hugged each other in happiness then turned and hugged Lillian, grateful for her arrival.
Sam and Dean paused making the homemade bombs and watched the scene in front of them unfold when they realized their sister was there. Lillian turned her head as she still held onto the Harvelles and gave a curt nod to her brothers. She disappeared with the two girls and returned just as quickly.
"They are safe at Bobby's" Lillian reassured as she clasped her hands down on Sam and Deans shoulders. As Dean was about to say something about the hellhounds outside, their location had changed.
Lillian had flown them blocks away. Far enough where the hellhounds would not bother them anymore. Then without saying another word Lillian extended her right hand out to Dean in request for him to hand over the colt.
He understood what she meant and hesitated. "You know I don't like the idea of you doing it Lil, it's not safe."
"It's safest if I do it Dean." She argued.
Sam spoke up and suggested, "What if it's me?"
Dean rolled his eyes at Sam and Lillian shook her head. Dean groaned as he took the gun from the waistband of his pants and handed it over to his sister.
It's midnight now. The Winchesters have arrived at the farm where Lucifer is supposed to be. As they walk further into the field of the farm, they find Lucifer digging.
He is standing in the center of a giant crowd that looks to be all the townspeople. The hole Lucifer is digging is massive and he must've been digging it for a while. He was preparing for a ritual.
Lucifer stopped digging and turned around as soon as the Winchesters were a few feet away. "Aww are you guys looking for me?" He teased. Lucifer noticed Sam and Dean both held guns. They were on guard and ready to shoot. Lucifer shook his head at them as he went back to digging. "You don't need weapons here." He grunted as he spoke. "I would never harm you, well not really."
Lillian took a few steps forward to stand behind Lucifer. She had the colt out. Cocking the gun it was aimed at the back of his head. She hesitated, it was too hard for her. Lucifer heard her footsteps and the click of the gun. He slowly turned around and took a step forward.
Everything felt as if it was in slow motion for both Lillian and Lucifer. When Lucifer saw Lillian with a gun pointed at his head he first felt betrayal, even a bit of sadness. Though then he heard a very soft "I'm sorry" escape her lips. It was so quiet it could only be heard between the two of them.
Lucifer quickly looked into her eyes and he could see the pain that this caused her. She did not want this. Tears threatened to pour from Lillians eyes and this angered Lucifer. He felt rage that she has been forced to do something that has caused her so much pain.
Lillian closed her eyes and pulled the trigger. Lucifers body dropped and she had to stop her eyes from leaking any tears that wanted to spill.
Dean stomped up behind his sister and gave her a happy pat on the back. He had triumph on his face as he looked proudly down at his sister. Lillian forced a smile at him. They both looked back behind them at Sam wondering what their next moves would be. Lillian was trying hard not to breakdown.
The deafening silence in the air was broken by a loud gasp. Lillian quickly snapped her head down at the body that lay next to her feet. She saw Lucifer grab his head as he cried out "Owwww!!"
Lillian was relieved she didn't kill him. Dean took a step back terrified. Sam gripped his gun unsure of what to do now. Lucifer stood up and grabbed the colt that Lillian still had in her hands. He threw it to the side in the field.
"Where did you get that?" He asked with much annoyance in his voice.
Dean opened his mouth to answer and when Lucifer saw him he remembered his anger. He remembered the look on Lillians face. The pain she felt. He cut Dean off with a slap that sent him flying across the field. Dean hit the trunk of a tree when he landed, knocking him out. Sam rushed over to Dean to check if he is okay.
Lucifer walked back over in front of Lillian as he continued talking. "There is only 5 things in creation that-"
Lillian filled with so much rage as she watched Lucifer hit her brother, cut Lucifer off. Her mind went to the image of Jo in the store, Cas in the holy fire and now her brother slumped over a tree. Pulling her fist back she gave him an uppercut that sent Lucifer flying back into the giant pit he dug.
Castiel had found Sam and Dean. Sam and Cas had watched Lillian throw the devil from the tree line they currently hid in. They were both filled with worry for her saftey and shock at her strength.
Castiel pulled his eyes away from the scene "She can take care of herself. We have to get you two to saftey." Before Sam could protest Cas had flew the three of them back to Bobbys.
Lillian had walked up to peer over the pit Lucifer had fallen into. He was on his knees looking up at her. "You said you wouldn't hurt anyone." Lillians voice was filled with anger.
"You shot me." Lucifer offered in his defense.
Lillian looked away ashamed, "I know." She reached down and helped him out of the pit. She was still angry and not ready to fully forgive him but she couldn't ignore him or her the way she felt about him.
The ritual to raise Death was completed. He had risen. Lillian, Lucifer and Death have much to talk about. Lillian is left in awe considering she never thought she could literally say she has looked death in the face before.
Little to Lucifer and Lillians knowledge is that after Castiel took Sam and Dean back to Bobbys, Sam asked Castiel a favor. He asked Cas to go back and make sure Lillian was okay.
Castiel was staked out in the treeline watching everything go down. Originally concerned for her saftey, what he finds is much more concerning.
