Episode 3: Sons of Trigon- Part II

The Underworld- Continued on from the last episode, the group of former Teen Titans are surrounded by a horde of the undead.

Nightwing:
Titans Go!

They charge at the horde.

Changeling:
(To the Sons of Trigon) You really think this is our first time dealing with the undead? Well think again!

Wrath:
Ever fought an endless horde?

Changeling:
(Loses some confidence) Not exactly.

Starfire:
It doesn't matter how many zombies you three throw at us! We will succeed!

She blasts a zombie into another. Tempest swings his trident at another zombie, decapitating it. Terra throws a series of boulders at a large group of zombies, crushing them. Nightwing throws plastique at several zombies before throwing his polymer sticks to knock them down before the plastique explodes. Cyborg is blasting several zombies away with his sonic cannons as Bumblebee isn't far away from him as she shoots down zombies with electric blasts from her 'stingers'. One zombie gets too close to her and tries to lunge at her, but she shrinks down and flies away from him just in time. Changeling turns into an elephant and is mowing down several zombies. Arsenal shoots several zombies with arrows then punches one through the gut with his bionic arm. Flash is moving to fast for the zombies to attack him, and he punches all of them out before they have a chance to react. Jinx is flipping between the zombies, cursing them with bad luck as Raven lifted up a few and slammed them onto the ground. But true to Wrath's word, the horde was truly endless. With every zombie the Titans took down, another one would immediately take its place.

Terra:
There's no end to these guys!

Wrath:
I told you all. It's an endless horde.

Envy:
Are you feeling tired yet?

Nightwing:
No.

Wrath:
Sounds like we need to up the ante a little bit.

Wrath snaps his fingers as the ground begins to open beneath the Titans.

Arsenal:
Now what?!

From the newly formed crevice a low growling noise can be heard.

Raven:
Get back!

The Titans back away from the crevice. A giant claw comes up from the crevice followed by another one. The creature arises from below, revealing itself to be a giant Gargoyle.

Cyborg:
Oooooh.

Changeling:
Oh that does not rock.

Logan Residence; the same time: A portal opens up in Murdoc's room, and Crow is seen coming out of it. After closing his portal, Murdoc sheds his Crow uniform, leaving him in his boxers, and he flops down onto his bed face-first into his pillow.

Murdoc:
(Thinking to himself) What's wrong with me? Why do I keep getting these nightmares? Where did this horrifying new power come from? There are just too many questions with no answers to any of them.

Voice:
It's what you were born to do.

Murdoc lifted his head from his pillow and looked around his room to see where the voice came from.

Murdoc:
(Gets out of bed, still looking around) Who's there? Show yourself!

A boy spawns into his bedroom; the boy looked to be around Raven's age; he was wearing a black tuxedo and his black hair was gelled into two devils horns at the top. An orange cat sat on his shoulder.

Murdoc:
(Jumps back) Whoa! Who the hell are you?!

Boy:
The epitome of chaos incarnate. I am the one they call Klarion, the Witch Boy! (Looks at Murdoc in his boxers) You couldn't dress anymore indecently.

Murdoc:
This is MY room; my rules. And like you're any better. You're the one just popping up in here uninvited. You're better be grateful you didn't walk in on me doing...something else.

Klarion:
Like what, dare I ask.

Murdoc:
That's not important. Why are you here?

Klarion:
I wanna talk. So pull up a chair, put on some pants, and listen up.

Murdoc:
(As he's getting dressed) If you're the one responsible for the dreams I've been having, and this new power I've got, then you have some serious explaining to do!

Klarion:
I know about your dreams, and no, I'm not causing them. I prefer to mess with people on a larger scale, besides Zatanna and Fate.

Murdoc:
Then do you know anything about how I got these strange new powers? Can you help me control them?

Klarion:
No.

Murdoc:
Then what do you have to tell me?

Klarion:
The future; the chaos that is to come. Your dreams are not just dreams, they're precognitions.

Teekl mews.

Klarion:
I mean premonitions. (Looks at Teekl) You know what I was trying to say.

Murdoc felt as though his heart drops into his stomach from hearing this.

Murdoc:
So, all that destruction. The death of my friends. All of that is really set to happen?!

Klarion:
Precisely.

Murdoc:
Is there anyway we can prevent it from happening?

Klarion:
Take your own life, but you'll just be revived again and again. No matter what you do, it'll still happen.

Murdoc:
Well, in my dreams I keep seeing these three figures. Do you know who these three figures are?

Klarion:
The catalyst of all that is to come. You may be shocked to know that they're someone close to you. But you have yet to meet them.

Murdoc:
Are you saying my mom may have more relatives other than that bastard grandfather of mine that she tells me about?

Klarion:
She's not big on extended family.

Murdoc:
This is all lies.

Klarion:
So you're choosing to ignore my warnings. Fine then! But just know that the longer you don't act upon what I'm trying to tell you, the worse things will become for you.

Murdoc:
You don't scare me! You or that fleabag of yours!

Teekl hisses.

Klarion:
Calm yourself Teekl.

Murdoc:
Why don't you two get out of here now before you get yourselves hurt.

Klarion:
Don't say I didn't warn you.

He snaps his fingers and vanishes in red smoke. Paine comes in.

Paine:
Murdoc are you alright in here? Who were you talking to?

Murdoc:
No-One. Myself. And I'm fine.

Paine looks at him unsure.

Murdoc:
What do you want? Are mom and dad home yet?

Paine:
No.

Murdoc:
Good. So, what did you want to talk about?

Paine:
I just want to make sure you're okay after what had happened today.

Murdoc:
To be honest, I'm scared.

Paine:
I don't blame you. If I had a power like that appear out of nowhere, I'd be freaking out too. C'mon; let's go to the meditation chamber.

Paine leaves Murdoc's room and he follows after her. They pass Lilith eating tofu.

Lilith:
Going for a session?

Paine:
For his benefit. Lian tells me you experienced something similar.

Lilith:
At the casino, Lian got shot by someone of the Royal Flush Gang; I lost control and nearly set him on fire. After that, it scared me enough to not use that power again, and I've been taking extra meditation sessions ever since.

Murdoc:
Sounds like you've been dealing with whatever it is I'm going through now.

Lilith:
And if extra meditation helped me, it'll definitely help you.

Murdoc:
I hope you're right. By the way, when you're meditating, do you think about Koro?

Lilith:
(Blushes hard) Uh, why would you ask something like that?

Murdoc:
I've seen you two together a lot recently.

Lilith:
That doesn't have to mean anything! It's not like I like him in that way or anything!

Murdoc:
The next that comes out of your mouth better not be 'baka'.

Lilith:
And it won't. Just, mind your own business.

Murdoc:
Just thought I'd ask.

Paine:
Keep it moving, Murdoc, leave Lilith alone.

The two siblings keep walking to the meditation chamber.

Murdoc:
Out of curiosity, have you heard of Klarion?

Paine:
Klarion? No. Why?

Murdoc:
I think he is responsible for my nightmares.

Paine:
We should talk to Mom about it when she returns. She may have already met him.

Inside the meditation chamber, a semi-lit soundproof room; Paine closes the door and turns on some calming Zen music. Murdoc sits in the middle of the room, crosses his legs, and closes his eyes. Paine sits in front of him, cross-legged and eyes closed.

Paine + Murdoc:
(In unison) Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos.

Back in the Underworld, the giant gargoyle slams his fist down at the Flash, who quickly runs out of the way.

Flash:
Missed me!

Cyborg, Jinx, and Starfire fire beam attacks at the same time and shoot the gargoyle in the face. The gargoyle swipes at them. They dodge out of the way just as Terra flings large boulders at it. The boulders break against the gargoyle, doing hardly any damage. The gargoyle reaches for Terra, but Tempest tackles her out of harm's way.

Terra:
Garth, you can get off me now.

Tempest:
Sorry.

He gets up and pulls Terra up onto her feet. The gargoyles attention was now on Changeling, who has turned into a Spinosaurus. The gargoyle slams its fist down, only for Changeling to dodge the attack and bite the gargoyle on the wrist.

Tempest:
So who's winning?

The gargoyle swipes Changeling in the face.

Terra:
Probably the gargoyle.

Not far from them, Nightwing turns to Starfire.

Nightwing:
Starfire, fly me up to the gargoyle's face!

Starfire:
Are you sure?

Nightwing:
Just trust me!

Starfire picks Nightwing up and flies him up close to the gargoyle, dodging it swipes all the while. They eventually get close enough to it.

Nightwing:
Drop me!

Starfire lets go of Nightwing, and while falling he takes out his eskrima sticks and stabs the gargoyle in the eye, causing it to roar out in pain.

Cyborg:
Nice.

Nightwing jumps off of the gargoyle for Starfire to catch him and they fly away before the gargoyle could retaliate. It falls back down into the crevice, which seals up.

Wrath:
Good show. Perhaps you're all not as weak as we thought you were.

Arsenal:
Why don't you come down and fight us then?

Wrath:
As tempting of an offer as that is, we'll have to decline.

Changeling:
What's the matter? You guys to chicken to face us?

Changeling turns into a chicken and caws a couple of times as a means to mock them before turning back into a human. Raven lets out a small laughs before regaining her composure.

Raven:
Now brothers, I'm only going to ask this one more time. What are you doing to my son?

Lust:
Nothing; he's doing this to himself.

Raven:
Somehow, I doubt that. And I don't know how you plan on bringing father back, but leave my son out of this!

Wrath:
The way we see it, father's return is inevitable. If we don't use your son, we'll just use someone else.

On the surface, Murdoc and Paine continued to meditate.

Paine + Murdoc:
(In unison) Azarath Metrion Zinthos.

Murdoc started to shake. Then he begins to see visions of his mother stripped to underwear with marks all over her body.

Raven:
No! No! No!

Murdoc:
Mom.

Raven:
Stay away from me Murdoc!

Murdoc:
Mom? Is there something wrong?

Raven:
You don't….

She screamed.

Murdoc:
MOTHER!

Paine opens her eyes as Murdoc begins sweating.

Paine:
Murdoc! Murdoc, calm down!

Murdoc:
MOTHER!

Paine jumps back as Murdoc opens his eyes and looks around, panting heavily.

Murdoc:
What happened?

Paine:
You tell me. You're the one who was freaking out screaming for mother.

Murdoc:
Just a bad dream. I'm fine. (Gets back in a meditative pose) Shall we continue?

Paine looks disturbed as to how Murdoc's emotions just flipped on a dime. One second he was freaking out, and the next he's acting as though nothing ever happened.

Paine:
You're like two different people. Are you okay?

Murdoc:
I feel just fine, Paine. Really, I do.

Paine:
I remind you that I am also an empath. I can see that it's not going well. No need to lie. Do you want me to bring Aunt M'gann over to read your mind or are you going to tell me now?

Murdoc:
I'll tell you now.

Paine:
Close your eyes, and tell me what you see.

With a deep breath, Murdoc closes his eyes and tenses up from what he sees.

Murdoc:
I see destruction, everything in ruin and flames, everyone dead. Including you, Lilith, Kacey, mom, dad, and all of our friends. All of you are dead in a pile. And on top of that pile are three shadowy figures.

Paine:
You mentioned them before. Any idea on who they are?

Murdoc:
No clue. But they're some of the scariest looking things I've ever seen. Could they be why I lost control?

Paine:
It's highly likely. I mean, you got your new powers around the same time these visions started happening. I'm not entirely certain however. We'll have to talk to Mom about it when she gets home.

Murdoc:
Alright, yeah, that's a good idea, sis.

Back in the underworld:

Changeling:
You let go of my son or else we'll get John Constantine!

Wrath:
You mean that drunk?! He has no power against us!

Starfire:
Do not underestimate the drunk from the pool of liver.

Raven:
She means Liverpool.

Wrath:
It doesn't matter how powerful that fool thinks he is. Nothing scares us, least of all you.

Cyborg:
We bested your gargoyle; you should be scared.

Envy:
That was just a stroke of dumb luck and you all know it. And besides, that gargoyle, and by extension those wraiths and zombies we summoned, are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the creatures we can summon.

Tempest:
What could be worse than a gargoyle? The kraken? Cthulu?

Envy:
You'll see.

Arsenal:
I've had enough of this! Do you three want to come down here and face us, or are you going to make us come up there and fight you ourselves?

Lust:
Come up here! I want to get a closer look at the red and pink haired babes.

Jinx:
Expect to lose an eye then.

Raven, Starfire, Nightwing, Cyborg and Bumblebee fly up to the platform, Changeling transforms into an eagle and flies up, Terra pulls out a flat stone and she, Flash, Jinx, Tempest and Arsenal get on as she levitates it up.

Envy:
Now the fun begins!

Envy and his brothers vanished, leaving the Titans confused.

Changeling:
Uh….Where did they go?

Wrath:
This was just the beginning.

Nightwing:
You three can disappear as much as you want! But we'll find you! And that's not a threat, that's a promise!

Wrath:
Really, then where are we?

Nightwing pauses; the Titans turn to Raven.

Changeling:
Any idea where they could be?

Raven closes her eyes to find their aura. Several moments pass before she opens them.

Arsenal:
Well?

Raven:
Nothing.

The brothers' evil laughter is heard echoing throughout the area, and it grows louder the longer it goes on.

Raven:
They're mocking us. We should leave.

Flash:
About time too. I don't know how long I can last here.

Jinx:
I'll be sure to whip you up a nice cold drink when we get back.

Flash:
Thanks, babe.

Raven:
Azarath Metrion Zinthos.

She conjures a red portal; their gateway back to Earth.

Flash:
Right, I think I think I have had enough. But I prefer to travel to charted territories

Jinx nudged her husband's shoulder.

Flash:
That wasn't a pun about us! I meant home…Unless…

Jinx:
Don't push your luck.

Flash:
Okay, okay.

They step through the portal and it closes behind them once they all walk through.

The group find themselves back in the depths of the library.

Tempest:
Am I ever glad that's over.

Raven:
I don't think it's over.

Tempest:
I meant for right now. But you are right, this is only the beginning of a much bigger conflict.

Cyborg:
Can we ever get a year where nothing happens?

Nightwing:
You knew what you were getting into when we formed the Teen Titans.

Cyborg:
I know, but a break would be nice every now and again.

Terra:
Amen.

Bumblebee:
So what do we do in the meantime?

Cyborg (checking his wrist):
The game's already over.

Bumblebee gives an annoyed groan.

Changeling:
Would you forget about your baseball game for a few minutes, you guys! We have bigger problems here!

Terra:
He's right. Whatever Raven's brothers are planning is something we really need to watch out for.

Nightwing:
We should call in the Justice League Dark for backup. It's their specialty to deal with this sort of thing.

Changeling:
Yeah, they thought I was bluffing with John Constantine but that's not true. If there's anyone who can set Raven's brothers straight it's him.

Flash:
Let's go home.

He picks up Jinx and sprints off. Raven conjures a portal and she and Changeling step through.

Nightwing:
Koro and Mar'i are probably waiting for us at home, Kori.

Starfire:
After a day like today I could really benefit from seeing their smiling faces.

Starfire picks Nightwing up and she flies them both home.

Logan Residence: later. Paine and Murdoc step out of the meditation chamber.

Murdoc:
I don't think it really worked.

Paine:
You opened up about your visions; I call that progress.

Murdoc:
I don't see how that's going to stop it from happening.

A portal appears in the living room; Raven and Changeling step through and the portal disappears. Lilith looks up from the TV at them; Paine and Murdoc stop.

Raven:
Murdoc, we need to talk.

Murdoc:
I know.

Later, Raven and Murdoc are in Raven's Private Room.

Raven:
Explain to me everything.

Murdoc feels unsteady as he takes a deep breath.

Murdoc:
These visions I'm having that I dismissed as dreams; they're not dreams. I got a visit from Klarion, do you know him?

Raven:
Klarion; Klarion, Kalrion, Klarion, Klarion, Klarion. (She pauses) Not too familiar with him. But Nightwing might know. He experienced several villains before creating the Teen Titans. I'll be sure to ask him the next time I see him.

Murdoc:
Great. Anyway, Klarion told me that these 'dreams' are visions of things to come.

Raven:
What were they about?

Murdoc:
The same thing every single time; The destruction of everything and everyone we've ever known, you included mom.

Raven stared at him, processing this news.

Murdoc:
Anyway, Klarion told me about what I was going to do. I don't want to believe it but, I think he might be right. And at the end of these visions are these three shadowy, demon-like creatures looking back at me.

Raven:
My brothers.

Murdoc:
What?

Raven:
Those three creatures, are my brothers.

Murdoc:
You never told me you had brothers, mom.

Raven:
I don't like talking about my extended family.

Murdoc:
Still, it would've been nice to know about them just in case they come back and wreak havoc like they're planning to.

Raven:
I know. But remember this; as long as I'm around, you're safe.

Murdoc:
I hope you're right. I've never felt this scared over anything more in my entire life.

Raven:
Come here.

Murdoc gets closer to Raven and she pulls her son into a comforting hug. Garfield, Paine, and Lilith open the door a crack to see the two of them embrace.

Garfield:
Go on; hug your brother.

Paine and Lilith enter the room and hug Murdoc as tears roll down his face.

Paine:
You'll be fine Mudo.

Lilith:
You'll always have us to support you, big brother.

Murdoc:
(Drying his eyes) Thanks Lil.

Garfield:
(Enters the room) You have nothing to fear, Murdoc. Like your mother said, as long as she's around, your uncles won't go anywhere near you.

Raven:
Still, it would be best to talk to Constantine. (To Paine, Lilith and Murdoc) You three, out.

Paine, Lilith and Murdoc leave the room. Garfield watches as Raven picks up the phone and dials a number.

The House of Mystery, Liverpool: 8:47pm. John Constantine was drinking and playing a video game with Etrigan while The Clash was playing on the stereo.

Etrigan:
Why must humans waste time with activities like this?

John Constantine:
And why is a demon like you wasting time with an activity that is a waste of time? Honestly mate, if you wanna make a point, don't be a hypocrite.

They suddenly heard the phone ring.

John Constantine:
Orchid!

Etrigan:
She's still mad at you.

John Constantine:
Oh yeah. I'm pausing this game; no cheating unless you want a repeat of last poker night.

Etrigan:
Just answer the phone, will you?

Constantine leaves to answer the phone (a corded rotary phone) while Etrigan un-pauses the game to purposefully get in the lead. Constantine lights hellfire in his hand and throws it at Etrigan, who gets the message and pauses the game.

John Constantine:
Oh bullocks, this had better be important.

Raven (Voice):
John Constantine?

John Constantine:
Who is this?

Raven (Voice):
It's Raven; are you drunk?

John Constantine:
I'm not-not drunk if that's what you're asking.

Raven (Voice):
I'll take that as a yes.

John Constantine:
But your name, love. Why does that name ring a few bells?

Raven (Voice):
I'm a former Teen Titan? I'm married to Changeling? (Constantine draws a blank) I'm Trigon's daughter?

John Constantine:
Oh yeah, that girl. What can I do for you?

Raven (Voice):
There are some, and I use this term loosely, 'people' I need you to take care of.

John Constantine:
Who do I look like? A hitman?

Raven (Voice):
No, but I know you specialize in handling the supernatural. With that said, did anyone ever tell you that I have brothers?

John Constantine:
No, but the legends say Trigon spawned several.

Raven:
Well three of those creates he spawned were my brothers, Wrath, Envy, and Lust. I have a reason to believe that they're trying to bring Trigon back, and they're going to use my son to accomplish that goal.

John Constantine:
That's messed up.

Raven (Voice):
And that's why we need you and the rest of the Justice League Dark's help in trying to stop them.

John Constantine:
A little busy at the moment.

Etrigan:
(Calls from the other room) Are you almost done with that phone call of yours so we can get back to this game?

John Constantine:
Just a moment Jason!

Raven:
Don't sound like you're too busy to me?

John Constantine:
Believe me, we are. Trying not to let that demon beat me.

Raven (Voice):
Let me guess; by 'demon' you mean Etrigan, and you're probably busy playing some kind of game?

John Constantine:
I will neither confirm nor deny this accusation.

Raven (Voice):
Well, whenever you decide you're done being 'busy', tell the rest of the Justice League Dark what I told you and meet me at my place as soon as you can.

John Constantine:
Sure, sure, don't get your knickers in a knot. We'll be there soon.

Raven (Voice):
Excellent. Just make sure you sober up a little first.

Constantine hangs up and sits down next to Etrigan to resume their game; Constantine reverts Etrigan's points to what they were prior to the call.

Etrigan:
Who was that?

John Constantine:
Trigon's daughter, Raven. Apparently, she's having some issues with the family, and she needs our help to sort it out.

Etrigan:
Shouldn't we go and help her then?

John Constantine:
After this game.

Logan Residence: the same time. Raven hangs up the phone and looks over at Garfield.

Garfield:
So how did it go?

Raven:
Well, he's drunk and goofing off, as usual. So hopefully he'll be true to his word and meet us here so we can talk more about my brothers.

Garfield:
Though he can be a loose screw, when it comes to the supernatural, there's no one else I would trust. He's the best at what he does, and I know he'll be of great service to us. No wonder he's Murdoc's favourite JL member.

Raven:
I'm sure he'll be glad to see him when he gets here.

Garfield:
Yeah.

Raven:
Gar, something's been bothering me since we left the underworld.

Garfield:
Really? What's that?

Raven:
My brothers that we encountered were probably fakes. Meaning they can be anywhere right now. If they're anything like father, they can also transform into humans.

Garfield:
So basically, anyone and everyone can be your brothers. (Raven nods) So, what do you think we should do? If they're really going after Murdoc should we keep him locked up here?

Raven:
It wouldn't be fair on him, or Kacey. But we'll need to take the necessary precautions. Set up a curfew. Make sure we know where he is at all times. Simple stuff like that. In the meantime, we should inform the other members of the Justice League and tell them to be on the lookout for any supernatural activity.

Garfield:
Good idea. Whatever happens, we'll be ready.

Raven:
Let's go to the Watchtower now.

Garfield nods and the couple leave Raven's private room.

Murdoc's Room: Murdoc is thinking about everything that happened that day; Klarion, the gunman and his uncles. He grabs his phone and decides to call Kacey. As he does, Raven and Garfield enter his room.

Raven:
Murdoc, your father and I are going to the Watchtower to warn the Justice League about your uncles. I assume you'll be staying here while we're out?

Murdoc:
Yeah.

Garfield:
Great. Don't answer the phone and don't answer the door until we get back.

Murdoc:
Why, what's wrong?

Raven:
If your uncles really are coming after you, they may try and transform into one of our friends in an attempt to trick you into letting them in.

Murdoc looks at them, looking terrified.

Murdoc:
Please, don't be long.

Garfield:
Don't worry, son, we'll be back before you know it.

Raven kisses him on the forehead and they leave. Not long after they leave, Murdoc calls Kacey. After a few rings, Kacey picks up.

Kacey (Voice):
Hey Mudo, baby.

Murdoc:
Hey Kacey.

Kacey (Voice):
What's wrong? You sound troubled.

Murdoc:
I just had one of the roughest days of my life, babe, and I just need someone to talk to right now.

Kacey (Voice):
You've come to the right person. Tell me what's on your mind.

Murdoc:
Well, I've been getting these visions about these three shadowy figures, and how they're going to destroy this world and kill everyone I know. I recently found out that those figures are my uncles.

Kacey (Voice):
Yeah, mom and dad mentioned them. So what are you going to do?

Murdoc:
My parents just went to the Watchtower to warn the Justice League about my uncles now. I hope they get back soon because, as much as I hate to admit it, this whole situation is scaring me to death.

Kacey (Voice):
Want me to come and spend the night with you?

Murdoc:
That would be great, babe.

Kacey (Voice):
I'll be there in a flash...pun entirely intended.

Murdoc:
See ya.

He hangs up and looks out the window. Within minutes, Kacey appears outside his window, an overnight bag in her hands. Murdoc opens the window to let Kacey in.

Kacey:
Sorry, I would've been here sooner, but I had to pack my overnight bag.

Murdoc:
I understand.

They kiss as Kacey climbs in and gets comfortable. Murdoc also changes into some pajamas; Some basketball shorts and no shirt. Kacey's face turns red and she looks away.

Murdoc:
It's okay to stare, Kacey.

Kacey:
You don't mind.

Murdoc:
Not at all. (He lays down on the bed and opens his arms for Kacey to come join him)

Murdoc:
I hope they're wrong and I don't cause the end of the world.

Kacey:
It's not going to come to that, babe. (She kisses his forehead)

Murdoc gives a smile for the first time that day.

Murdoc:
I love you.

Kacey:
I love you too.

They both kiss before Kacey nuzzles her face into Murdoc's chest and falls asleep.
