Chapter 1: Shinjuku

Lelouch Lamperouge stood amidst the bodies of multiple soldiers. Each of them had a single gunshot wound to their lower jaw. He was in shock as he realized what had happened.

"Well, well. Looks like Lelouch Lamperouge isn't as innocent as he would have everyone believe," a voice said.

Lelouch looked up to see a figure silhouetted against the door.

"Who are you?" he asked.

The figure started to walk into the room, which made Lelouch take a step back.

"Don't come any closer," he said.

"You could certainly try to use that power of yours on me… but I'm afraid you'll find it won't work."

Lelouch growled before activating his power.

"I order you to stop!"

The figure stopped moving, which made Lelouch grin. "It seems you aren't as resistant as you thought," he said.

"Or I'm just playing with you," the figure answered back as they resumed walking.

Lelouch's eyes widened in surprise before the figure emerged into the dim light of the room, their features becoming visible now.

It was a girl, with ice-blue hair styled in two long twin-tails with matching colored eyes. She wore what looked to be a school uniform that was mostly ice-blue with white details.

"Guardian I. Ice. At your service," she said with a bow, tugging on the hem of her skirt in a mock curtsey.

"What are you doing here?" Lelouch asked.

"Straight to business are we? Very well then."

She straightened before looking him in the eyes.

"My people are going to war in three months. Our enemies are gathering powerful allies, and we have been sent out to do the same. I came to this world because I had heard of the great Lelouch Vi Brittania and his natural brilliance for tactics and stratagems."

"What can you offer me?" Lelouch asked.

Ice smiled, "Only my abilities. I am an expert pilot, and I have a Knightmare Frame parked not far from here. If it helps to convince you, I will fight for you… for a time."

Lelouch thought about what she had said.

"If she's telling the truth, this could be my way out of this mess."

"Very well."

Ice nodded her head, "Then follow me."

She turned to leave the room but stopped when she heard Lelouch bend down and grab the still and bloodied form of a green-haired girl.

"Leave her. There's nothing we can do for her now," Ice told him.

"Are you named Ice because you're so cold-hearted?" Lelouch asked as he lifted the girl's body to his chest.

"It is my title. Why?"

"This girl saved my life by risking her own, and in her final moments gifted me this power. It seems only right that I at least get her body out of a place like this."

Ice sighed before shrugging, "Suit yourself. But you're carrying her the whole way."

"That's fine by me," Lelouch answered.

The two made their way out of the subway entrance and down a winding series of alleyways before eventually arriving in a small parking lot. Crouched in the middle was an ice-blue Knightmare Frame.

"You were telling the truth…" Lelouch said.

"Of course. I wouldn't lie about something like this. Now come along, we still have to get out of here."

Ice led him up to the Knightmare, and pressed her hand into one of its legs. The chest slid open revealing the cockpit.

"It'll be tight, but we should be able to all squeeze inside," Ice told him.

He nodded as he watched her climb up into the mech. Once she was secure she lowered her hands down to take the girl's body. While Ice put her down Lelouch clamored up the suit and into the cockpit behind Ice. A small co-pilot's seat gave him enough room to sit, save for the body of the girl who was taking up half of it.

"Don't get too cozy back there," she said as she held up her finger.

Lelouch looked at the body of the girl lying beside him.

Ice grinned to herself before a spike of ice shot up from her finger. She inserted it into the console and the Knightmare began to come alive.

"Hold on tight," she said as she took the controls.

The Knightmare stood, its faceplate opening to reveal a scanner that swept over the area. Inside, Ice's screens lit up, displaying the surrounding area. She moved the Knightmare slowly back and forth to scan for any signs of movement.

"Nothing so far," she said.

She pushed forward on the yolk and the Knightmare took a step.

"You there, in the Knightmare. Stop and put your hands in the air!" A voice called to them.

"Oh damn," Ice said as she spun around.

A trio of purple Knightmare Frames were speeding toward them, rifles lowered and aimed directly at them.

Ice lifted the controls so her Knightmare raised its hands, showing it was unarmed.

"Good. Now, state your ID number and rank," the same voice called.

"Any ideas?" Ice asked.

"Why are you asking me? This is your Knightmare!" Lelouch shouted at her.

"Just wanted to be sure. Hang on," she said.

She jerked the controls, and the Knightmare responded. It threw one of its hands out, slamming into the head of one of the two accompanying Knightmares as it sped past to surround her. The other two readied their rifles before opening fire. Ice grabbed the stunned Knightmare and used it as a shield, pirouetting perfectly to place it between her and the two remaining suits.

"What the hell?" One of the soldiers asked.

Ice lifted the Knightmare's foot and kicked the now-riddled husk of the third soldier's frame at the other two, causing them to leap back to avoid the crashing suit. Ice took the opportunity to lift one hand and lower the other, and in a flash, a circle of metal formed between her outstretched hands. She grasped a handle on the interior of the blade and shouldered the weapon.

"Now boys, I'd love to dance with you, but let's keep it to one at a time, hm?"
