Chapter 7

"So when did you and my ex-husband start talking again? The last I heard, he and his annoying blonde chihuahua were still blaming you for telling the truth. When did this happen?" Brenda questioned.

"It's a recent development. We hashed everything out and decided to stop living in the past. We are taking things one day at a time." Robin replied.

"I don't trust him, Robin." Brenda stated.

"But do you trust me?" Robin asked.

"Of course, I trust you, but when he and Sonny are involved, your judgment becomes askew." Brenda pointed out.

"I am not that naïve teenage girl anymore. I see Jason and Sonny for who they are and I won't get sucked back into that life. I just missed my friend." Robin said.

"You will get no more lectures from me, but if he steps even a baby toe out of line, I will chop it off." Brenda threatened.

"I appreciate the sentiment. Can we go eat now?" Robin said desperate to change the subject.

"I have been craving some Kelly's chili since Brenda called. Let's go! Bianca you are going to love it!" Lois reassured.

"I can't wait. Robin talked about it all the time when she was in Paris. Let's go see what this hype is about." Bianca said, just as eager to bypass the Jason topic. While she did not know everything, she knew enough and did not want to dwell on the past.

The ladies all piled into Robin's 4runner and headed to Kelly's. On the way there they decided to have a mini car karaoke session and turned it to the oldies station and blasted some 90s RnB tunes.

The girls were laughing, talking, and singing out of tune. It was such a carefree moment like nothing else mattered. By the time they got to Kelly's, it seemed as though the conversation about Jason had been forgotten.

"We should get a booth by the window and do some people-watching like we did in high school." Brenda suggested.

"There was a fire there and they renovated. There are no more booths." Robin commented.

"Oh yeah, I heard about that," Lois said.

"Even though there have been some aesthetic changes, the food is still the same." Robin said.

"Well let's get in there, I am so hungry. I am practically wasting away." Brenda said dramatically.

"Brenda never change." Robin said as she linked arms with Brenda and followed Bianca and Lois into Kelly's.

The ladies grabbed the table closest to the door and Mike came over to take there order.

"Aren't you there a site for these old eyes? How have you been and who's your friend?" Mike asked.

"Hi, Mike. Good to see you. This is our friend Bianca." Robin said.

"Hi Mike. How are you?" Bianca said with a polite smile.

"I am doing well. What can I get you ladies?" Mike asked.

"I have been hearing about some world famous chili, so I think I will have that and water with a lemon on the side." Bianca said.

"You will not be disappointed with our chili. The best thing you have ever tasted." Mike said enthusiastically.

"I will also have the chili and a chocolate milkshake." Said Lois.

"Can I get a burger and fries with a Coke?" Robin asked.

"Anything for you sweetie." Mike responded.

I think I will have the house salad with a diet coke." Brenda said.

"Alright, ladies I will be back shortly with your drinks." Mike said then walked away.

"This place is so cozy. It has such a homey feel. I like this place already and I haven't even tried the food yet." Bianca said.

"Just you wait! You are in for a treat!" Lois exclaimed.

While the ladies waited for their drinks, in walked Patrick with Leyla on his arm.
