A.N. — We go from one of my top 5 characters to someone who's top 5 at the other end of the list. Sure, he got a redemption arc that was somewhat believable, but that doesn't negate all his past actions or the lack of repercussions he's faced for them. Still, I let him keep his birthday date (which he shares with two others). Here's to you, Enji Todorki.
220. Enji Todorki/Endeavor
Endeavor was the No. 1 hero now, but it felt like a Pyrrhic victory to Enji. He wasn't physically wounded like All Might had been; rather, Enji was mentally scarred from how his ascent had come about.
It wasn't Endeavor's unmatched record of villain takedowns, nor his ever-burning personal drive that had gotten him to the top. A retirement had handed Enji what all of his best efforts had not been able to achieve. And what the No. 1 ranking alone couldn't give him — the same level of public adoration (even acceptance) as his predecessor — rankled worst of all.
