A.N. — This guy's son is the last canon birthday of the year (Dec. 28), so I decided to put some space between the child and his parents. If the mother was merely misguided, the father is a true miscreant. The write is darker than usual as a result. This drabble also draws parallels to chapter 237 of my similar Harry Potter collection, Census, that was posted on the same date.
237. Takami the Thief
He'd murdered a stranger over pocket change, so Takami saw nothing wrong with treating his own son in the same vein. 'Course, if he killed the kid, that'd be the final straw for Tomie, and without her leads, he had no income. And without money, Takami couldn't buy booze to numb his displeasure over how his life had turned out.
So Takami roughed Keigo up as much as the brat could tolerate, all the while dreaming of plucking those shiny red feathers out one by one. No amount of alcohol would ever dull Takami's jealousy over his son's superior quirk.
