249. Gyges
The main gate of Tartarus was imposing and impenetrable. The true hell was supposed to be saved for the interior. But when Gyges saw his brother, Briareos, fall dead beside him, his guard post became his own circle of torment.
Despite teetering on the edge of falling to pieces, Gyges knew he had a duty to perform. So he called in the attack on the prison to alert those within to the coming danger and demand a lockdown. Gyges was proud, in a hollow way, that his voice was only urgent and didn't crack when he reported his brother's death.
