In Japanese, the word "Kiwami" means Ultimate, or Extreme.

Heya, long time no see. You might or might not be wondering what I've been up to. Well, I've been busy writing this thing for a while. What is this fic about exactly? Honestly, it's a self-indulgent sort of thing. I've been lorebuilding (and daydreaming) a lore where Homura, Mami, and an OC of mine somehow ended up becoming adopted siblings under the care of a lovecraftian outer god. Sounds crazy, I know. This fic aims to tell you the story as to how it even managed to get to that point.

And besides, I can't allow it to stay a daydream any longer, so I decided to actually write it down, and show to others this semi-serious crackfic.

I hope you enjoy this passionate rambling.

As a side note, this fic assumes that the anime takes place in the 96th timeline, only for things to diverge after Madoka made that reality-bending wish of hers.

Timeline 100. Sunday, 1 May 2011, 9:45 AM.

Akemi Homura sat on a tall (but not the tallest) concrete building still standing, overlooking the devastated town of Mitakihara. She sat on a relatively safe distance from the colossal witch – Walpurgisnacht – that was currently destroying the town.

Homura had no intention of fighting this witch. Not in this timeline at least. She had neglected Madoka, neglected her friends, neglected this whole world, just to stock up as much supplies and arsenal as possible. She even got some weapons that are not available to the JSDF! Imagine her luck when she came across that premium arms dealer.

And with that, Homura got up and spun her shield, activating the mechanism within it in order to reset the timeline once again.

The last thing that Homura noticed before she made a reset of this yet another failed timeline was a large, shadowy bird-like creature lunging itself towards Walpurgisnacht. Homura – ironically – barely had the time to register the anomaly that she had witnessed in that split second before the mechanism within her shield pulled her back to the start of the timeline.

Even during her previous attempts to save Madoka, she had never seen THAT sort of discrepancies. It's usually either Walpurgisnacht kills Madoka, or vice versa. Even during the few timelines where Homura stuck around for a little while longer than usual, she had never seen that bird-like creature.

Timeline 101. Wednesday, 16 March 2011, 9:45 AM.

It's no wonder that Homura woke up on her hospital bed with a bewildered look on her face.

"...Huh…" was the only thing that Homura could utter.

One of the first few things that Homura noticed was how thick her blanket was. Thicker than usual. Heavier. Oddly much more comfortable too.

Then, as soon as her foot touched the hospital floor, she noticed just how cold the floor was. She was quick to retract her foot back up the bed, before slipping on the warm slippers that were provided by the hospital.

For some reason, Homura felt suspicious that the bird-like creature that she briefly saw was not, and would not be, the only anomaly that has been, and will happen in this timeline. She briskly moved towards the window, and for the first time in a relatively long time, flinched when she saw that Mitakihara Town was somewhat covered in a bit of snow here and there.

"...It's supposed to be the middle of March, how is this possible?" Homura wandered out loud by herself.

Was it an omen? A sign of something to come? She seldom admitted it, even to herself, but Homura was scared. She could no longer feel the strange comfort that regularities provided.

Timeline 101. Wednesday, 16 March 2011, 01:00 PM.

After she had settled in her usual home, Homura had found herself with nothing better to do at the moment.

She had planned to check on the potential threat that was Mikuni Oriko, the oracle magical girl who could see threats from the future, in which one of those 'threats' just so happens to be Madoka.

Usually Homura doesn't need to do a thing towards the oracle, seeing that 'Oriko as a threat' is, in itself, an anomaly.

It's just that Kyubey, seemingly at random, tends to contract Oriko in some timelines, which forces Homura to…preemptively put a bullet in the oracle's head from time to time.

But checking on Oriko was not part of today's schedule. No. She would normally start filling up her arsenal. But seeing as it was already filled, Homura decided to explore the snow-ridden town for any sign of further anomalies. Anomalies that could put this timeline in jeopardy.

While she was at it, she might as well check on the oracle anyway…

…and maybe buy something warm to wear.

Timeline 101. Thursday, 24 March 2011, 10:00 PM.

Roughly a week has passed, and aside from the snow still sticking around in late March, nothing else of note really happened. Or, well, nothing threatening at least.

The first time she scouted the Mikuni residence, the house was seemingly abandoned. More dilapidated than usual.

Nobody's home.

The oracle probably moved to someplace warmer, like…The Kure residence.

To Homura's admittedly limited knowledge of the pair, Kure Kirika was Oriko's best (and only) friend. There's simply nowhere else the oracle would have been. And indeed, that place was exactly where she spotted the pair of girls, within the safety and comfort of Kirika's house. Currently out of reach due to the simple fact that unlike Oriko, Kirika at least has a mother watching the house.

So Homura moved on, bought some sweaters and earmuffs, and went back home.

And now here she was, mindlessly mucking about. Laying on her bed. Maybe she shouldn't have dedicated the entirety of the last timeline, shoplifting guns — because Homura was now left with nothing better to do.

Homura sighed. Tomorrow will be when she will introduce herself to her classmates yet again – or in other words – when all hell breaks loose. As usual, she can only hope for the best, for it is the only thing driving her to keep on going.

For the first time in a long time, despite everything, Homura slept peacefully that night. She had no idea why, and she couldn't be bothered to ponder as she drifted asleep.

It's the prologue and things are already starting to turn drastically different for Homura.
