AN:

Hello and thank you to anyone who took the time to click on my first fan fiction. I've been wanting to get into FFs for a while and I decided to start with this one. There might be some confusion for anyone who hasn't played the newest Terraria update, so I will put a description of any less known Terraria item or effect and explain it at the end of the chapter, there have been lots of additions with the 1.4.5 update.

Also, the character MC has been put into is based off my Zenith seed character. Therefore, MC will be very OP - an end game Terraria character can absolutely violate the RWBY verse - so if that's not your cup of tea then there's your warning. I will try not to make her a Mary Sue, but as it is my first fiction, I don't know how it's gonna go. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the first chapter of The Terrarian of Remnant.

Chapter 1: Awakening

Clare sighed as she clicked her mouse once more. She's been at it for the past six hours and has just finally finished. She blankly watched as the achievement 'Supreme Helper Minion!' slowly faded away in the corner of her screen. She was done at last. She had completed everything Terraria, her favorite game, had to offer.

Normally, she would be ecstatic, but she only felt tired. Binge-playing the hardest possible vanilla Terraria experience over the past two weeks wasn't good for one's mental health. The 'getfixedboi' or Zenith seed as it was called, was a seed that provided a new level of difficulty, Legendary mode. She had over one thousand hours on Terraria, but the seed was just so damn difficult. She would freely admit that she thought about sending it into oncoming traffic more than once during the playthrough. She died over 500 times before she beat the damn thing.

Glancing at the time, she stared blankly for a second, adjusting her glasses to make sure she wasn't hallucinating. It was 4:28 a.m.

"Shit." Clare cursed, sounding even more exhausted. It was now Monday and she had work at 9:00.

She took a glance at the Terraria page on Steam and let out a small smile as she saw all achievements completed. Then she glanced back at the time and hastily shut off her computer. Whatever smile she had was gone. She climbed into bed, thankful that she didn't have to play that horrendous, terrible, masochistic seed anymore. Fighting the Empress of Light in daytime to get the Terraprisma was the last straw for her. She wouldn't play Terraria for a while after what she just went through. Her spawn point was IN hell for goodness' sake!

She shook her head, quitting her silent grumbling, her long black hair seemed to go everywhere. She finally rid her mind of the useless thoughts. She had a lot to do tomorrow, and she needed to get those precious extra minutes of sleep. She closed her eyes, and slowly faded away into the darkness.

Clare's mind awoke to a cacophony of deafening sounds, people walking and talking, laughing, and sighing. She heard the rumble of cars driving by, from which she could tell a distinct difference from the usual hum. Clare's eyes stayed closed as she curled in on herself, not wanting to wake up. It took the foul stench of trash reaching her nose to finally realize something was wrong. Her eyes shot open to an unsettling sight.

The first thing she concluded was that she was not in her house anymore. As she was staring at a grey sky full of clouds, and she most definitely did NOT have a sunroof in her bedroom. As far as she was aware, at least. Standing up off the hard ground, she, for some reason, didn't feel uncomfortable even though she was sleeping on what she now knew to be concrete.

Looking around at the area in front of her, Clare had no idea where she was. She was in a long alleyway between two buildings, she could see a few dumpsters, so full that the trash was nearly spilling out. Perhaps she was in a city? Looking out of the side of the alley she was already facing, she could see a store, or at least she assumed it was one. It was a bit hard to read through the crowd of people, but it did have a bright blue, somewhat see-through sign that read, "The Dustiest Shop."

'What a weird name.' Clare drowsily thought, still tired from having just woken up, before remembering that the name of some random shop was probably not important. What happened? Where was she? How did she get here? Was she kidnapped? Why?! She was just an average gal, so what the hell did she do to deserve this?!

Clare's breathing rapidly increased as her spiraling thought process continued. She tried to grab at her arms, only to feel a soft fabric in the way. She looked down at the… cape? Using the unfamiliar garb to distract her from the unsettling thoughts that were in her mind. It was the color of the ocean, a calm deep blue that seemed to flow along the body of the cape.

'No, scratch that.' Clare thought. As she watched as the colors literally flow along the cape, almost as if it was alive. In shock at the bizarre sight, she silently inspected the rest of the cape. It went down to her feet yet didn't seem to impede her in any way, it ended just above her neck, in a bluish-white puffy collar which had the feeling of fur. The cape was connected by a bluish-gold chain that sat right beneath her neck. Inhaling, she took a deep breath.

'Okay, full stop.' Clare thought, trying to calm herself and hopefully delay the panic attack she could feel coming on. Her breathing slowed. What was the first thing to do in a situation like this? Clare honestly had no idea but assumed that inspecting herself and the surroundings would be a good start. Looking down once again, she noted her other clothing. Besides the logic-defying cape, she wore a white robe over a black shirt and pants. Her shoes were the same color as the robe. The most eye drawing accessory, besides the cape of course, was a necklace made from a variety of different colored vines holding a small skull. That, thankfully, was too small to be human.

Clare had spotted a variety of issues with the clothes she wore. One, she owned none of them. Being the self-proclaimed 'filthy weeb' that she was, almost all her clothes, besides the ones she wore for work, were specifically picked out for their comfort and anime like designs. Two, that she knew she wasn't wearing these clothes when she went to sleep. Meaning that someone must have put them on her. Who would even wear clothes like these either? Hell, she looked like her Terraria character!

'Stay focused.' she thought, shaking her head. Before immediately getting unfocused when she felt something on her head move. Quickly looking up, seeing nothing, and still feeling the movement, she reached up to pat the top of her head. 'Soft' being the first thing to come to mind as she grabbed an unfamiliar object and pulled it into her line of sight. She gasped as she saw the tall, white, bunny ears on top of her head.

"What the-" she began. Before a soft blue and golden light coming from behind her caught her attention. Due to the strange situation, she had found herself in, she wasn't sure what she was expecting as she turned into the light. Could it be her kidnappers? Maybe someone who was here to rescue her?

It took her a few seconds to process what she was seeing once she fully turned around. Clare could only gape at the massive figure behind her. It was an entirely blue masculine figure with muscles so large that she was sure they could bend steel. It had thick golden rings around its wrists, golden pauldrons on its shoulders, and a golden facemask. It had something akin to a golden halo with spikes shooting off it, floating behind the figure's head. It stood at least twice her height, even though it didn't have any legs and was hovering over the ground. Clare, of course, reacted how a person who had watched too many shows involving gratuitous violence would; she slowly backed away from the hulking figure, not trying to startle it, lord knows how many ways it could rip her limb from limb. The figure, unfortunately for Clare, began to slowly float after her, causing her to trip over her own feet and land ass first onto the pavement.

If Clare felt any pain, she didn't react to it. No, she was too busy staring in shock at the hovering being that had stopped following her and was now just impassively floating before her. Only now, after she fell onto her ass of course, did the neurons in her brain start to fire as she recognized said 'figure'. It looked exactly like the Stardust Guardian, the armor set bonus to the Stardust armor. One of the armor sets her most recent Terraria character was wearing.

It didn't take Clare long to put two and two together. The clothes, the necklace, the bunny ears, and the mother fucking Stardust Guardian. She had to be dreaming. Without hesitation, Clare pinched her cheek, hard. So hard, in fact, that her fingers somehow tore into her skin, drawing blood. Her hand jerked away as she flinched at the pain, it burned, like she had put her face on a stove. The worst part of it all? Clare didn't wake up.

'I'm not dreaming, aren't I?' Clare soberly thought whilst looking at her hand, which, to her surprise, had no blood on it. The blood was instead coating what looked to be an ethereal glove. She barely caught a glimpse of it, however, as the blood evaporated near instantly, diffusing into the air with a sizzling sound.

Clare slowly put her hands together, trying to catch a glimpse of the invisible gloves. Instead of that happening, however, her hands joined without issue, and she felt the rough callouses covering them. Callouses that she didn't recognize, she didn't have a job that required much physical labor. It looked like she worked in construction her entire life and then some, or fought monsters with a sword for a living. Thinking of something, Clare clapped her hands together only to be met by a loud clanging sound. It sounded like she had slammed two pieces of metal together. Clare looked at the invisible gloves on her hands, which quickly faded away after the initial impact, and Clare believed she knew what was covering her hands. Now, she was no scientist, but even she could tell this was far from natural, along with everything else in this mind-boggling situation. Despite this, her brain was finally beginning to connect the dots, despite the dots themselves making no sense. It was surely the Fire Gauntlets, Clare had them equipped in her summoner accessory slots because her whip needed auto swing.

Clare had another unsettling thought, one that led to even more, and her eyes flicked back at the Stardust Guardian as if to try to confirm it. She began to look around wildly, as if trying to find some semblance of reality in this freaky dream that she couldn't seem to escape. Her eyes settled on the top right of her vision, where she stared blankly at for a whole five seconds, mind running overtime to try to comprehend what she was seeing, and how she had missed it until now. She saw her Terraria character's hotbar with all her most important items. Her Legendary Zenith sat in the first slot, followed by the Rod of Harmony, her Legendary Kaleidoscope, her Godly Vampire Knives, the Picksaw, the Axe of Regrowth, her Golden Fishing Rod, a Golden Bug Net, and lastly her Rainbow Crystal Staff and Terraprisma, both reforged to be Ruthless.

Beneath her hotbar were all her buffs. She saw the buff for the Stardust Guardian - a picture of its face, one that looked like a glinting sword – the Sharpened buff, one of a staff and one of a tower with a "+1" in front of it– the Bewitched and Strategist buffs respectively. One was a picture of a red panda's face. Lastly, there was a picture of a stomach with a "2h" sitting beneath it.

Clare's eyes flicked to the left, seeing 20 golden hearts, the last heart being very slightly dimmed, and 10 blue stars. The hearts and stars represented her health and mana respectively. Clare's health sat at 497/500, and was slowly ticking up every 30 seconds or so, whilst her mana was max at 200. Underneath her health was the minimap, which – despite a small square depicting her surroundings – was completely black. The map was in a top down view. Clare absent-mindedly thought about how convenient that was. Beneath that was all the displays her Cell Phone gave her, including time, damage per second, speed, depth, and the other more irrelevant things like moon phase – waxing gibbous – it said.

It was sufficient to say that the panic attack she was going to have a couple of minutes ago was now beginning to come back in full force. Why was she in the body of her Terraria character? What about her family and friends? How would they react? Did she look the same? Was she even on Earth? Did she get sent to her Terraria world?! There's no way she'd survive!

Clare began to hyperventilate as she crawled over to the right alley wall. She didn't think she could walk right now. Clare rested her back against the wall, before curling into a ball, hands interlocking around her legs. Burying her face in her knees, Clare just sat there in the alley. Hearing the cars that sounded just oh so wrong, the people who wouldn't shut up and smelling the rancid stench of trash. She couldn't breathe.

'In' Clare thought, attempting to take a deep breath and failing miserably. 'Out' she exhaled the little amount of air in her lungs. Trying to calm herself to no fruition. In her limited experience with panic attacks, only from accounts she read online, the only thing Clare could do was wait for it to be over. Tears gathered in the corners of her eyes as she repeatedly breathed in and out, only succeeding half the time, until she felt something nudge her leg. Looking over, saw a Baby Red Panda, the pet she had bought from the traveling merchant. It was looking up at her, seemingly worried, with its large black eyes.

Clare tentatively reached out to pet the panda, and as her hand pressed against its head, it nuzzled into the touch. It let out a soft chirping sound as she continued to pet it. It began to crawl into her cape, she had to put her legs down to give it space. Eventually the panda laid down in her lap, curling up into a ball and closing its eyes.

"Thanks, little guy." Clare wispered after a few minutes of petting the small creature. She was grateful that the little bugger helped her calm down. Exhaling, she sat there for a couple more minutes, listening to the sounds of the city, and feeling the breathing of the panda. It was the pet she had in her world since pre-hardmode. She idly thought that she needed to name him or her. Shaking her head once more and feeling her bunny ears flop around at the motion, she rid her mind of the random thoughts. She needed to find out where she was, and if she really was the Terrarian… what she could do. The Terrarian has canonically killed gods after all. Was she really granted that much power? By whom? And why? There had to be a reason. Right?

She glanced at the Stardust Guardian, who was still hovering there, the golden facemask telling nothing about what it was thinking, if it could even think at all. Averting her eyes, she decided to do something productive. She would try to open her inventory. At first, she wanted to test out one of the weapons in her hotbar, until she thought of the possible destruction they could cause. So, inventory it was. She confidently said, "Inventory" out loud. Only to be met with a whole lot of nothing. She was distraught for a second before becoming embarrassed at her actions. Quickly recovering from this grievous blunder, she thought about different ways to open her inventory. She tried multiple different phrases she had heard from reading too many 'Gamer' fanfictions, all ending in failure. Frustrated, she thought about how she would open her inventory in game. She had keybinded her 'open inventory' key to TAB. So, she closed her eyes and imagined pressing TAB on her keyboard. She prayed for a second, then opened her eyes and smiled.

A large portion of her vision was now covered by her inventory and armor slots. Glancing around her inventory, a 5 x 10 grid, everything she had in her Terraria world was there. Her buff potions, food, Cell Phone, Money Trough, Greater Healing Potions, Master Bait (heh), Torches, the Pwnhammer, and Magic Conch. She nodded, then looked at the right side of her vision at her armor slots. Out of the three loadouts she had, the second was currently equipped. Full Stardust Armor, Master Ninja Gear, Fire Gauntlets, Frostspark Boots, Summoner Emblem, Nebula Mantle, Necromantic Scroll, and the Papyrus Scarab. All her accessories were reforged to be Menacing and set to be hidden from sight.

In her vanity slots, from top to bottom, were the Bunny Ears, the Familiar Shirt and Pants, the Winter Cape with Living Ocean Dye applied to it, a Soaring Insignia, and the Pygmy Necklace. She saw that she had 45 defense, the number inside of a small shield at the bottom left of her armor slots. Thinking quickly, she tried to remove the Living Ocean Dye from the Winter Cape, it would draw attention if people saw her with clothes that had moving dye. She tried to touch the dye slot with her finger and when that didn't work, she thought about clicking on it with her mind. This time it worked. Her mouth widened as she watched a small bottle of blue moving dye appear in her hands, as her cape went back to its normal purple and white coloration. She looked at the bottle for a second before imagining herself putting it into her inventory. The bottle abruptly disappeared from her hands; with no indication it was ever there in the first place. She looked at her inventory and saw the dye bottle sitting next to some Wormhole Potions. She let out a grin.

'I'm getting the hang of this.' Clare thought as looked back to her armor slots. She mentally selected her third loadout and watched as the Stardust Guardian faded away into nothingness. Her third loadout was also her main class; melee.

The first thing she noticed was that her Winter Cape, along with her Bunny Ears, now both looked like the starry night sky. She looked over her armor and accessories to confirm that everything was how she remembered it. It was. A full set of Solar Flare armor, Fire Gauntlets, a Soaring Insignia, Terraspark Boots, an Ankh Shield, a Celestial Shell, Solar Wings, and Berserker's Gloves. All her accessories were reforged to be Warding, so she had a total of 126 defense. She was wearing the same Bunny Ears, Familiar shirt and Pants, and Winter Cape. The main difference being the Twilight Dye she had equipped, which she quickly removed and put into her inventory. She sighed for what must have been the fiftieth time today as she looked in front of her, seeing a bright orange ethereal shield appear, and hover, before her. It was the set bonus to the Solar Flare armor, Solar Blaze. She watched as the shield seemed to materialize a vicious looking spike on it.

'I need to get rid of these set bonuses.' She concluded, it would be a very interesting affair if she were to walk around with a massive, slightly-see-through, shield in front of her, or the Stardust Guardian trailing behind her. So, which armor piece should she get rid of? It couldn't be the breastplate; it gave the best defense and increase in stats, her min-maxing mind refused to be weaker than necessary. So, the helmet or the leggings? The helmet gave better defense and stats, but she would need to keep wearing the Bunny Ears in order to conceal it. She didn't know if she could cope with the embarrassment of wearing bunny ears in public. But she would be better defended…

"Ah, screw it. If they want to laugh, they can, what's it matter to me?" She whispered as she moved the Solar Flare Leggings into her inventory and watched as the shield before her faded out of existence. After doing the same with her summoner loadout, Clare smiled as she proceeded to go through her last and most powerful loadout…

The fishing loadout. With a whole 14 defense, meaningless stat bonuses, and immense fishing power, she would be unkillable. She snickered at the thought of using a fishing rod to beat the Moon Lord to death, he is a squid, after all. Anyway, she removed the rest of her dye from all her items and made sure all her accessories were hidden. She equipped her melee loadout and inspected it once more. Once she was sure that everything was in place she tapped on the nose of her new pet, waking it up from its nap.

"Sorry buddy, but I can't have you following me around in public." Clare said to the animal. It merely reacted by tilting its head at her. She could tell it had no idea what she was talking about, so she whispered a soft "Sorry" and turned its visibility to 'Hidden'. The Baby Red Panda disappeared in her lap, and she suddenly felt very alone. She was already missing the little guy, even though they had just met. She shook her head for the nth time today and stood up off the hard concrete ground. As she stood up, the Winter Cape fell to cover most of her body. Briefly glancing left and right, she decided to go towards the shop she had seen earlier. Maybe there would be some information on where she was. The name of the shop was in English, so she should at least be able to communicate with the people inside.

She glanced around herself once more, wanting to be doubly sure there was nothing supernatural about her appearance. Once she was satisfied, she walked past the dumpster, outside of the alley and onto the busy sidewalk; there was a road separating her from the shop, so she would have to find a crosswalk. She stood there for a moment, still looking at the shop, momentarily surprised to find that she could read a paper plastered on to the window of the shop. It read "Authentic A-5 Grade Dust. Endorsed by the SDC." With a beautifully adorned snowflake logo beneath it. She reached up to touch her face, and sure enough, her glasses weren't there.

'Just another thing to get used to.' Clare thought. 'And why does "the SDC" sound familiar?' She continued. Glancing around, she saw a crosswalk to her left, not one to waste time, she started to walk over to it, only going a bit faster than necessary. Clare weaved in and out of the crowd of people with an ease that surprised her, normally she would have to mow over some people, not on purpose, of course, but they seemed to be moving unbearably slowly for some reason. Had she also gotten the reaction speed of her Terraria character? She guessed that she would find out later. Interestingly enough, some people she didn't need to dodge around, as they gave her a wide berth. Some of those people gave her a weird look that she couldn't quite place.

'Probably because of the bunny ears.' She thought, thinking everybody that saw her thought she was a weirdo. Maybe she had made the wrong decision to keep the bunny ears on. Unfortunately, at the time, she had no idea how right she was. Her musing stopped, along with her body, once she made it to the crosswalk. She stood there for a moment, confused. The pedestrian signal across the road was a large red hand, but that wasn't the confusing part. The signal itself was… a hologram. Where on Earth had the technological capabilities to create a hologram? More so, where would that technology be so widespread that it would be used for something as mundane as this?

'Nowhere,' Clare concluded. She had hypothesized that she might not be on Earth anymore but threw the idea away quickly. Be it through false hope or denial, some part of her truly believed that she was somewhere on her home planet. Unfortunately, this, seemingly small thing, shattered that misconception brutally and efficiently. She looked at the ground, fighting back tears. Her family, her friends, her home, everything she has ever worked for. It was all gone, she would never see any of it, of them, ever again.

'Not now.' Clare thought, blinking the tears from her eyes. She could grieve later, once she got situated here. Wherever here was. Feeling some people brush by her, she looked up to find that the light had turned green. It seemed that green still meant go, even on another planet. Walking across, she took a sharp right upon reaching the other side of the street, proceeding to the shop. She passed a man who nodded to her, she nodded back unconsciously, barely giving him a glance, before doing a double take. She saw two dark-haired fox ears sitting on the top of his head. The fox-man didn't seem to notice her look. In this moment she had a thought, one that she didn't want to believe, but was probably true. The SDC, Dust, the hologram, the weird looks she got, the fox-man… or Faunus that had just walked past her. She came to a complete stop, and stood still for a few seconds, as she came to a conclusion.

"Shit." Clare cursed aloud. She was on RWBY's Remnant, wasn't she?

AN:

I hope you all enjoyed the first chapter of The Terrarian of Remnant. Please follow if you did, as I am not sure about my update schedule, so it would be good to get notified when I update, if you want to keep reading. I know that this chapter was a lot of info-dump, but I promise it won't always be like this in the future. Now that we're past describing all of Clare's gear, she can finally get to using it. Additionally, as 1 real-life minute equates to 1 Terraria hour, I have multiplied the duration of potion effects, buffs, and de-buffs by 1 hour. For example, a swiftness potion, which usually lasts 8 minutes, will last 8 hours. Lastly, I'm not sure about what rating to give this fic, so I will keep it T for now and maybe change it to M later. I have put some of the lesser-known items and effects below. Have a great Day!

Rod of Harmony: The Rod of Harmony is a direct upgrade of the Rod of Discord, able to be obtained from shimmer transmutation once the Moon Lord has been defeated. It functions exactly like the Rod of Discord, except it does not inflict the Chaos State de-buff. This essentially means that the user can teleport infinitely with no cooldown in between.

Kaleidoscope: The Kaleidoscope is currently the strongest whip in the game, dropped from the Empress of Light.

The Axe of Regrowth: The Axe of Regrowth is a pre-hardmode axe that automatically replants saplings after the user breaks down a tree.

Sharpened: The Sharpened buff increases armor penetration by 12 for all melee weapons. Due to the new update, the duration has increased from 10 minutes to infinity, or until death.

Bewitched: The Bewitched buff increases maximum minions by 1. Due to the new update, the duration has increased from 10 minutes to infinity, or until death.

Strategist: The Strategist buff increases max sentries by 1. Due to the new update, the duration has increased from 10 minutes to infinity, or until death.

Hunger: The Hunger mechanic is gained due to playing on certain seeds, The 'Constant' seed, the 'For the Worthy' seed, and the 'getfixedboi', or Zenith seed. There are 3 stages to the Hunger mechanic. Peckish, which does nothing, lasting 8 minutes. Hungry, which decreases the player's stats, lasting 8 minutes. And Starving, which takes 2% of the players health per second, stopping whenever the player either dies or eats.
