~Invisible to You~

"And then he said that if we stayed late then we'd be able to finish everything. So we did but Tadase made it awesome to work overtime by bringing some snacks and drinks. He's everyone's favorite in the office. He really does make working there so much better. I mean…"

Ikuto stopped listening after the eighth story that Amu had told about her coworker Tadase. In fact, Ikuto was rather tired of hearing about the blond that worked with Amu. This guy was all that she could talk about.

For the first few days, Ikuto was actually interested in hearing about her work and her new coworker. Now, several months later, listening to her still talking about him was making Ikuto feel a bit… Invisible.

Sighing, Ikuto slowly pushed away from their table and his girlfriend. He walked out of the kitchen without a word, heading for their bedroom. Then he sat on the bed and waited to see how long it would take Amu to realize that he wasn't there anymore. So far she hadn't realized during the last week that he wasn't really listening to her anymore.

The fear he had that she wouldn't notice him being gone was growing stronger and stronger the longer he sat there and waited. Ikuto wasn't going to cry, but that didn't mean that he wasn't going to sulk in a very manly manner. He pulled his knees up to his chest and rested his chin on them as he wrapped his arms around his legs.

It had been fifteen minutes and she didn't know he wasn't there. He knew she hadn't realized it yet because she was still talking. Ikuto was far enough away that he couldn't understand her words but he could hear her voice.

As he sat there, Ikuto could feel his heart breaking.

"Ikuto?"

He didn't move as he listened to her move about the kitchen and come down the hall to their room.

"There you are. Why'd you leave?"

"You didn't notice."

"Didn't notice what?"

Sighing, Ikuto didn't bother to move from his protective position. He had to make sure to protect his heart because he had a feeling that it was about to be broken. "You were so busy talking about Tadase that you didn't notice that I left the kitchen more than half an hour ago."

Amu was stunned as she stared at her boyfriend. She really hadn't noticed him leave that long ago. "Why'd you leave?"

"Because all you've talked about for months is Tadase. Some guy I haven't met and don't know anything except the good stuff you say about him. You haven't said one thing to me since he started at your office that doesn't include him somehow."

Amu bit on her lip as she stood in the doorway. "He's my new friend. Of course I'm going to talk about him."

"Amu, you've talked about him so much that it feels like I'm the friend and he's your boyfriend, or at the very least, someone you have a crush on."

Taking a step forwards, Amu stopped herself before she got to their bed. "I didn't realize it was bothering you this much."

Ikuto pressed his forehead to his knees before lifting his head once more to look at her. "I love you. I love you so much that I never want to live without you, but you haven't asked me once in several months how I have been. We haven't touched or snuggled or kissed or anything because you've spent your waking moments talking about him or talking to him. I've been going to bed alone."

Amu took a step back before she crossed her arms over her chest. "You're jealous of my coworker?"

Sighing again, Ikuto shook his head before pushing himself up and out of the bed. "No, I miss my girlfriend. Maybe I should leave for a bit so you can do whatever it is that you've been doing now. You haven't needed me for some time. We haven't spent any meaningful time together for a while."

She didn't move. Amu didn't move. She blocked the doorway with her body so that Ikuto couldn't leave. "I really didn't know that I was doing this to you. I love you. Not Tadase. He's just a cool guy that I work with. He's also gay and I'm not at all interested in him. Not like I am in you."

Ikuto wanted to believe her. But he'd been ignored for far too long to just believe her saying this to him. Actions spoke louder than words. "It doesn't really matter if you're interested in him or not. The problem is that you don't seem to be interested in me anymore. I'm not going to force my presence on you."

"You have never forced anything on me."

"And I never want to."

"Please don't leave."

"What do you want me to do? I've tried a lot of things these past months, Amu, but nothing seems to be working."

Biting at her lip again, Amu moved forwards. She moved slowly as she wrapped her arms around Ikuto's waist before hugging him. He didn't return he hug. Amu was about to pull away when he slumped into her arms and wrapped his around her, too. "I do love you."

Ikuto squeezed her tighter before letting go and backing up a step. "I love you, too. This can't continue. I can't live like this."

"I don't want you to have to. I'm going to do my best to make sure that I never do this to you again."

Sighing, this time from relief, Ikuto wrapped his arms around Amu once more and pulled her to him. "Would you like to watch a movie and snuggle on the couch?"

Looking up at Ikuto, Amu lifted herself onto her toes and placed a kiss to the bottom of his chin. "We are in the bedroom already. It would be a shame to leave it now."

Squeezing her just a bit tighter, Ikuto smirked before looking down at his girlfriend. "While I've definitely missed everything we could do in our bed, I really missed spending time with you. I'd love to just be with you for a while. Hold you in my arms and snuggle."

It was moments like these that Amu knew she would love Ikuto forever.
