The Rider of Magix Ch. 03
Roxy and Artu are now waiting outside the garage for her parents. At first they were relieved that she contacted them and that she was alright. Then, they scold her for not calling before now. The worried parents then remained calm enough for her to explain. They told the girl that they'll be there as soon as possible.
The garage door opens, and Johnny comes out pushing his bike. He's wearing a leather jacket and gloves now, though the spikes are less prominent than what Roxy remembered. The chain is also wrapped over his left shoulder and a shotgun is holstered on his back.
"It really was you," Roxy says, now fully convinced.
Johnny smirks. "Never lied about that," he parks the bike.
"Are you leaving?"
"Maybe," he unholsters the gun to look it over. "The demons seem to be moving on. I go where they go," he looks up to take note of the sky turning yellow. "And their activity is mainly after sundown."
Roxy takes a brief glance at the weapon before eyeing him. "Are you a hunter?"
The guy smirks as he checks the ammo, "Of sorts," and then he holsters the gun before leaning against his bike. "I'm just going to wait here until someone shows up for you. It's likely that you were just a target of convenience. So, it's unlikely that more demons would be after you. But I'd feel better knowing that your safe. So…" he then eyes her. "I'm surprised you were upfront with the whole attacked by demons thing. Most people would clamp up figuring that no one would believe in something strange."
The purplette shrugs. "I'm used to the strange after finding out my mom was the queen of the lost kingdom of Earth Fairies."
Hearing that, Johnny laughs. "You're kidding?" he then notices her smirk. "You're not kidding!"
"Artu," Roxy looks at her dog. "Speak."
"Hello, Johnny!" Artu hops in place.
"Huh?" the guy looks down at the dog then back at the Fairy. "Well, that explains that."
"Yet you never question it."
"I've been fighting demons almost every night for two years. You stop question what's out of the ordinary after a while."
That put the girl in thought, "Two years? You've been fighting since…"
Johnny crosses his arms and turns his head away. "I rather not talk about it."
"Sorry," Roxy looks down. "Must be hard doing it alone?"
"Not always alone. I've had a few people to help me out," the boy explains. "There's the guy who helped me understand what's going on and taught me everything that I need to know. But as the Caretaker, he never leaves his cemetery. And then with Moreau being a monk, he has duties of his own. We rarely cross paths but every once in a while, we'll share a drink," he lets out a chuckle. "He actually bought me my first. But after that, he always insists I pay."
"A monk that drinks?"
"I stopped thinking about that a long time ago," Johnny shrugs. "It's easier to just roll with it."
"What about you? You don't look like your old enough to drink."
At that, the boy smirks. "I'm old enough to drink. Just not old enough to buy," he then winks.
Before the fairy could reply, someone shouted her name.
"Roxy!" her father calls out as he and her mother come running towards them.
Morgana hugs her daughter. "I'm so glad your safe, Roxy."
"I'm fine, Mom. Johnny saved me," the teen looks over at the boy who seems to be getting thanked by her father.
The woman looks over and her eyes widen in shock. "You!?" she immediately steps in front of her daughter. "Klaus! Get away from him!" Even though he was unsure why, her husband did so.
Johnny raised a brow. "Do you know me, miss?"
"Not you," she glares, "But I know the spirit of Zarathos when I sense it."
The boy closes his eyes. "So, you not only know what I am, you also know about him," he opens his eyes. "I'll be moving on. Doubt you'll see me again," he then turns to the purplette. "Roxy. Before heading to this Magix, I recommend a couple more days of rest. You should be fine then."
With that being said, Johnny starts his bike and was soon taking off. Roxy watches on as his figure disappeared. Then, she is lead away.
"Let's get out of here," by the tone of her mother's voice, she knows that it wasn't a request.
"Mom," Roxy looks up. "What was that about?"
"Nothing you have to worry about, Roxy," her mother refused to meet her daughter's eyes. "Just know that nothing good can come being associated with a Ghost Rider."
The young fairy wanted to ask more questions, but her mother doesn't seem like she'd be willing to give any answers.
.oOo.
Johnny drives down an empty street. He stops at a nearby building and briefly glances at his own reflection.
"Magix, Fairies. I've heard demons whispering about them a lot lately. Along with the Magical Dimension," he says. "Is there something going on in this Magix? And how can I get there?"
The reflection turns to him and smiles. "I can take you there," the reflection's face is burned away to reveal the flaming skull head and gets off the bike while removing the chain around him. When the chain ignited, it started swinging the weapon in a circle in front of it, thus creating a portal. The reflection then goes to get back on the bike and the flaming skull vanishes.
Johnny revs up his motorcycle, turns, and drives through the portal before it closes.
