Chapter 6: Busted?
Carrie continued whimpering & crying, rocking back and forth on the ground, as the ghosts of former tormentors closed in on her, wailing and laughing at her in ghostly and sadistic manners, believing she was about meet her end…
"I'm sorry, Mama…" Carrie whimpered in a whisper, knowing she would soon see her mother again in the afterlife, as Chris, Tina, Nicki, Lizzy & Heather's ghosts were about to grab Carrie when…
Suddenly, some strange Orangey Reddish electrical beams wrapped around Heather, before they began pulling her away from Carrie and the other ghosts. Heather screamed & wailed, as she was being pulled away, causing Carrie and the other ghosts to look and see what was causing it…
"HELP ME!" Heather screamed, as the energy beams dragged and pulled her more, before she was sucked into a strange looking container, before a foot hit the switch closing it, Trapping Heather…
Before, stood 4 women, all around in their '10s wearing matching uniforms, of khaki-coloured coveralls, black gauntlet gloves and boots, carrying and using strange & unusual technological instruments, possibly weapons, from what just happened… each one of the women, had their surnames on their coveralls:
Yates: Who had Caucasian skin, blue eyes, hair black bun of was equipped with a strange backpack,, but also wore glasses, as well as the strange instruments and weapons.
Gilbert: Who had Caucasian skin, but had blue eyes, hair brown over her head also, and was equipped with similar equipment.
Holtzmann: Who had Caucasian skin, but had blue eyes, and blonde headed, but also glasses & goggles, and equipped with the strange backpacks and instruments and weapons.
Tolan: Who had dark skin, brown eyes as well, with short black braids hair and stubble around her mouth, who was also equipped with matching gear and equipment.
The women then prepped their weapons, aiming at Chris & her friends…
"RUN!" Chris wailed, as she, Tina, Nicki, and Lizzy flew away, wailed in ghostly tones, as Holtz & Patty pursued them up some flights of stairs, while Abby and Erin turned to Carrie, who was still curled up in a ball of shock and fright, shaking, about to cry…
"You okay kiddo?" Abby asked, as she tried to approach the frightened homeless girl.
"Be careful Abby, don't alarm her." Erin tried to tell Abby, as she got closer to Carrie, who then shot one of her hands out, causing Abby to be hit by an unknown force, sending him flying to the other side of the building room…
Erin was shocked at what she just saw, as Carrie quickly got up and covered her mouth in shock herself, from what she'd just done…
"You okay Abby?" Erin asked as she ran over to Abby.
"Yeah, I'm okay." Abby replied in a groan.
"I'm… I'm so sorry…" Carrie whimpered and stuttered in fright, shaking.
"Hey don't worry kiddo, no one hurt." Abby replied, giving Carrie some form of relief, but was still frightened…
"How did you do that?" Erin asked in shock and concern.
Before Carrie could answer, Holtz and Patty returned from upstairs…
"What happened down here?" Holtz asked in concern, as she & Patty noticed Abby on the floor on the other side of the room, as she went over to help her up.
"Sorry…" Carrie said nervously.
"She seems to have some sort of power, Jillian, like Telekinesis…" Abby replied, as Patty helped her up.
Erin then looked at Carrie, wondering where she'd seen or heard anything like her before…
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Carrie asked nervously, looking back at Erin.
"Sorry kid, I just wondered where I'd heard about people with powers like you before… To be fair, look somewhat familiar…" Erin said with wonder and curiosity, which made Carrie even more nervous, as she began to sweat and slowly try to back away…
"Hey, it's kiddo, you're not in any trouble… What's your name?" Patty asked calmly, trying not to startle Carrie…
Carrie looks at them for a few seconds, not saying a word, until she took a nervous but deep breath, ready to accept whatever the next moment of her fate… whatever the outcome…
"I'm Carrie, Carrie White." Carrie replied, still nervous if any of those who saved her, knew what she had done back in Chamberlain, but didn't care if she was to be taken in to the authorities for her greatest and only come…
"Carrie White? Carrie White?!" Holtz said in both surprise and shock.
"Easy, Holtz, Carrie's startled enough as it is…" Erin said, as they all knew who Carrie was, and what she had done…
Carrie nervously and slowly put her arms out, which made the women confused…
"What are you doing, Carrie?" Abby asked in concern…
"What do you think I'm doing? I'm surrendering. You need to turn me in, I must face justice for what I did. I don't want you guys getting into trouble…" Carrie said, willing to accept her fate, and face justice for all those who died at her hand…
"There may be a couple of problems with that Carrie: 1. We're not cops, we're Ghostbusters… 2. Why should we turn in someone who was bullied and abused?" Patty asked with a bit of a joke in her tone.
"Lots of people died because of me though…" Carrie replied in a confused tone.
"Maybe, but we did hear that many of those who died, were bullying & abusing you…I mean yes, killing them wasn't the right choice, but we can see, you deeply regret that choice you made…" Abby added in…
"So… You're not gonna turn me in? I don't want you guys getting into trouble, especially that you just saved a fugitive from the ghosts of her tormentors & victims…" Carrie said nervously, as she lowered her arms…
"Don't worry Carrie, we've tackled worse problems with the law, for just becoming Ghostbusters." Holtz said, reassuring Carrie.
"Come with us Carrie, we promise we won't turn you in, and don't worry about us or you getting into any more trouble…" Erin said calmly, reaching out to Carrie…
"Really? Are you sure?" Carrie asked nervously.
"Absolutely kiddo." Holtz added in as more reassurance.
Carrie was still nervous, but complied, as she walked with them, while putting her hood up back, as they all went to their vehicle: The Ecto-1.
As Patty drove The Ecto-1, Abby, Erin, Holtz (Jillian), and Carrie back to their Headquarters, Carrie kept her hood up, as well as tried not to show her face through any of the windows, still nervous in case someone knew what she had done… but during the drive, she continued to look in wonder around all the views of New York City… It was all new and strange to her, as she never had any sights like this, being kept at home by her late mother… or being bullied and tormented by her late classmates, when she was sent on trips by her former school… Carrie was mostly quiet, but still spoke to the Ghostbusters when they spoke to her…
Eventually, they reached their headquarters: A Former Firehouse, FDNY Ladder 8, located on the intersection of Moore Street & Varick Street. They then drove into the firehouse, and closed the doors, before they all got out of the Ecto-1. Patty & Abby carried the trap that Heather's ghost was in, ready to place her ghost, into their newly upgraded containment unit, while Erin & Holtz helped & tended to Carrie…
Erin & Holtz helped Carrie get seated somewhere in their reception area, while their receptionist: Kevin Beckman, got Carrie a warm blanket & a hot drink. As Kevin & Holtz kept Carrie company, as well as asking her about what had happened to her, Erin went to make a phone call…
In an apartment, somewhere in New York, the phone rang… as someone picked it up and answered…
"Hello?" Eleanor Snell asked, as she answered the phone.
"Hi Eleanor, it's your young sister." Erin replied over the phone line.
"Hi Erin, what's up?" Eleanor asked in curiosity.
"Eleanor, I need to tell you something… something regarding Sue…" Erin replied again.
"Sue? What's Sue got to do with this?" Eleanor asked in concern.
"You need to break this to her gently… We've found Carrie White…" Erin replied, telling her older sister, she needed to tell her niece Sue… about Carrie.
To Be Continued…
