Chapter 28
On our journey to Coumarine City, we are now stopping in front of a device, and Bonnie asks, "There they are. There they are. I see them. Right, Clemont?"
Clemont says, "Absolutely." He turns to Pikachu and Dedenne and says, "Go right ahead, Dedenne. You too, Pikachu."
Both Pokemon rush into the machine, and electricity is pouring into both Pokemon. Elline says, "Wow. It's like an electric shower."
"Awesome, and Pikachu and Dedenne are loving it." I say.
"I know, right? My brother invented these all by himself." Bonnie says.
"Wow, you did?" Serena asks.
"Yeah, I call them Clemontic Showers." Clemont says. "This place hasn't changed a bit. It takes me back."
"You as well?" David asks.
"Clemont? David? Elline?" The three of them turn around and find a woman approaching. "It's really you three!"
"Miss Eclairisse! It's been so long!" Elline gasps.
"Wait, you know Miss Eclairisse as well?" Clemont asks.
"So what's going on?" Serena asks.
After Bonnie's attempt to propose to the woman in front of her, Clemont has to drag her away. After a while, I say, "A school of studying Electric and Steel-type Pokemon?"
"Yeah. It's in the middle of town. See, Clemont was a student there." Bonnie says.
Clemont asks, "So David, what kind of class are you and your sister?"
"We are the 92nd. What about you?" David asks.
"I was the 88th. No wonder we didn't meet or heard of in school." Clemont says.
"Here is the school. Would you all like to come have a look?" Eclairisse asks.
As we see a lot of people in lab coats, Eclairisse says, "Here at our school, Trainers travel here from all over to learn everything they can about Electric and Steel Type Pokemon. Our students specialize in researching the biology and behaviors of Electric-type Pokemon. Their studies extend to Pokemon of other types as well. As part of this research, they learn all about how people and Pokemon can and should coexist in harmony."
As we sit on the benches, she says, "Many great Trainers have gone on to be very successful after leaving this school. Clemont, David, and Elline here are one of the most notable graduates of all."
"Come on. I think you're exaggerating a bit." Clemont says.
"No way. You're amazing. Yup, you keep coming up with these totally incredible inventions that always blow up in the end." Bonnie says, and the others can't help but laugh a little.
"That is so true..." David sighs.
"They call you the Electric-type Whiz Kid all around Lumiose City, don't they?" Eclairisse says, "I know your father called you that, too."
"You see, it was my father who told me I needed to go to this school. Meet lots of Pokemon Trainers and make lots of friends. Study hard and broaden your horizons. He told me to do that and off I went." Clemont says.
"So how did it work out? Did you make lots of friends?" I ask.
"I made friends with all kinds of great students and Pokemon too. But all that studying and research was tough, to say the least." Clemont says.
"I know, right?" Elline sighs.
"The curriculum here is quite rigorous. It's a challenge to do the work and make it all the way to graduation." Eclairisse says.
"So what's your graduation research, Clemont?" David asks.
"To be honest, I'm interested in this as well." Elline adds.
"Well, I studied the power of Electric-type Pokemon and how the power of science can build the future. That was my major focus." Clemont says.
Then Clemont tells us his story about how he met a Shinx, during his time. Clemont recalls that Shinx was injured from a lack of electricity. After being nursed at a Pokémon Center, Nurse Joy told Clemont that lots of Electric-type Pokémon are suffering from lack of electricity. With that, Clemont got the idea for his graduate research project, the Clemontic Showers, which he invented with Shinx, and the device became a success all over town. He told Shinx of his dream to make a world where all Pokémon can be happy, a dream Shinx seemed to support.
"What about you, David, Elline?" Clemont asks.
"My topic is similar to yours, but for Steel Type Pokemon. That's why I decided to make some metal beds for the Steel Type Pokemon to clean their bodies and Autotomize." David says.
"Oh, I think I have seen those on the streets as well." Serena says.
"As for me, my topic is to find a way to get close to ferocious electric-type Pokemon without causing damage." I say. "It was not easy."
Eclairisse says, "It sure isn't, but I'm happy that you manage to make that motivation into the Thunder Girl Movie."
Then Clemont decides to show us around the system control room that Clemont designs, but we hear that there is a wild Pokemon making its home at the transmitter area. And when we go there, we find that there is a Luxio. Clemont gasps, "It's you!"
Luxio glares at Clemont before leaving, and Clemont yells, "Luxio!"
Then after that, Clemont has been in deep thought. Clemont says, "I was just thinking about Shinx."
"You mean that Pokemon you helped when you went to school here?" Elline asks.
"It's probably still here in this town." I say.
"I'm sure of it. I never finished the story I told you. It was the day before my graduation. Something bad happened."
It was the day before his graduation and he was going to deliver a cake to Shinx and ask to catch him and be his partner. But then the mayor arrived and forced Clemont into his limo to go to a party celebrating his invention. Clemont saw Shinx soon to be disappointed as he left, and when he returned, Shinx had left.
"I get it. When Shinx evolves, it becomes Luxio, right?" Serena asks. "So could that Luxio possibly be..."
"Luxio? It evolved?" Bonnie asks, "Maybe it evolved from the Shinx that was your friend."
"Well, maybe I'm wrong. Remember, that Luxio didn't even respond to you, Clemont." Serena says.
"No. Your hypothesis is probably correct." Clemont says. "Yeah. Looking into Luxio's eyes. No doubt it's the same Pokemon. That Luxio has to be my friend Shinx after it evolved!"
We gasp in shock, and Clemont frowns, "I never showed up at our meeting place that day like I promised. So Shinx must have thought I abandoned it. That's why..."
Then he notices Luxio wandering in the street, and he yells, "It's Luxio!"
"Clemont?" We rush to find Luxio, and Luxio is just preparing to go back to the sewers as Clemont says, "Luxio, please wait!"
Luxio decides to stop while turning around. Clemont says, "Luxio, I'd really like you to come with me. I remember. I gave you my word then let you down. But now, I'll be waiting for you. At the same place and at the exact same time. So if you decide to come with me, meet me in the square."
Luxio stares at him before leaving, and then we decide to wait for the next day. And when that comes, we don't see Luxio anywhere.
David says, "I guess that means it's still mad."
"Luxio will show up, we've gotta give it a little more time." I say.
"No, I guess Luxio still hasn't forgiven me." Clemont says. "Which is all that I've deserved. It's time to go. If we stay here a little longer, it won't be fair to the rest of you. Hm. Let's get back on the road."
As we are about to leave, we are surprised to find Luxio there. Clemont is touched and happy that Luxio comes, and Clemont captures the Luxio.
Then we continue moving, and our Flabebe decide to evolve into a Floette, and to our surprise, Floette is now a five-colored Floette. "So it does effect with the evolution..."
"Yeah. That sure is a unique Floette we have there." Serena says.
Floette: The Single Bloom Pokemon: Fairy Type. Evolve from Flabebe at LV:19. It flutters around fields of flowers and cares for flowers that are starting to wilt. It draws out the power of flowers to battle.
"And look what I've found!" I say while they notice me finding a Shiny Stone. "We can use it to evolve Floette as well."
We try to use it, and after evolving Floette, it becomes a Florges with the red flower head, but the four ornate bouquet of flowers are the other four colors instead.
"Unbelievable..." Clemont says.
"I know... this is so cool." Bonnie says.
Florges: The Garden Pokemon: Fairy Type. Evolve from Floette with a Shiny Stone. It claims exquisite flower gardens as its territory, and it obtains power from basking in the energy emitted by flowering plants.
We also meet a hiker who wants to see an Intriguing Stone, and once we show that, he gives us a Sun Stone instead. We use it to evolve Helioptile into Heliolisk.
Heliolisk: The Generator Pokemon: Electric and Normal Type. Evolve from Helioptile with a Sun Stone. They flare their frills and generate energy. A single Heliolisk can generate sufficient electricity to power a skyscraper.
And with some training, we also evolve our Bunnelby into a Diggersby as well.
Diggersby: The Digging Pokemon: Normal and Ground Type. Evolve from Bunnelby at LV:20. With their powerful ears, they can heft boulders of a ton or more with ease. They can be a big help at construction sites.
Then we get to Azure Bay, and we explore the whole area, and we find an old man, who says, "Do you have a Key Stone? Is that what this stone is reacting to? Then you should take this with you."
We are surprised to receive an Ampharosite, which is actually a Mega Stone for Ampharos. Elline says, "Wow, Ash! Serena! Mega Ampharos is actually cool."
"Indeed. Not only does it have Mold Breaker as its ability, but it also gains Dragon Type." Clemont says.
"Yeah. I know that." I chuckle. Then we arrive at the Sea Spirit's Den, which is empty but we learn that sometimes Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos rest there after a long flight.
On the road, we met another rival named Nene, who tried to trade Pancham with her Farfetch'd, but we refuse as we want to train Pancham. They decide to have a performer battle, and Pancham's acrobatics don't match Fennekin's part of the performance at first, but they work together and defeat her Smoochum and Farfetch'd. In the evening, Serena and Nini say goodbye to each other. Serena and Nini plan to be performance rivals, and Nini claims that she'll beat Serena. Nini then walks away and tells everyone to keep in touch with her.
And then we accidentally hurt a Gallade who was filming a movie, so they decide to help the director by using our own Hawlucha as the substitute, in the end, it becomes a battle between the two Hawlucha, but everything goes well for us.
Here is a new chapter, and this wraps up the first part of Route 12. I hope you like it and the next chapter will be back to Alain's POV in the Hoenn Region.
