Late for School

This one is also set in season 2. David has to clean and iron Hanna's school uniform and chaos ensues.

Snow walked into Hanna's room and found her still in bed asleep. She came up earlier to wake her for school and thought she had gotten up. Snow sighed and walked over to Hanna's bed. "Hanna, sweetie, you need to get up now."

Hanna rolled over and rubbed her eyes. "Why?"

"Because you're going to be late for school." Snow pulled Hanna covers off of her, hoping that would get her moving a little quicker.

Hanna looked up at her mom. "Can't I just stay home today?"

"No you may not. Now please get up."

Hanna sighed, but did what her mom asked.

"I think your Dad put your skirts in the dryer last night. I'll go get those while you start getting dressed." Snow walked towards the door when she noticed Hanna's clean school shirts in a pile on the floor. "Hanna, didn't your father and I ask you to hang these up?"

Hanna bit her lip. "Uhh…maybe?"

Snow raised her eyebrows at her daughter.

"I forgot," Hanna shrugged.

Snow sighed. "Well, take this one down and have your dad iron it and get a skirt out of the dryer. I'll put the rest of these away."

Hanna nodded. She took the shirt from her mom and went downstairs.

David greeted Hanna with a smile when she came down the stairs. "Morning, princess."

"Hey, Dad. Can you iron this for me?" Hanna held out her shirt.

"Of course I can." David took the shirt from her and went to turn on the iron.

Hanna went into the kitchen to get something to eat. She was hungry and wanted Fruit Loops. She opened the cupboard and sighed. Why were they always up so high? Hanna put her hands on the counter and carefully jumped up. She pulled herself up to stand and reached out for the cereal.

David spotted Hanna from the bedroom and came running into the kitchen. "Hanna, don't climb up there."

Hanna turned around. "Dad I'm…" that's when she saw smoke coming from the bedroom. "Uh Dad…" Hanna pointed towards the smoke.

"Shoot." David quickly grabbed Hanna around the waist and pulled her down from the counter.

Hanna let out a scream and jolted her arm, not expecting her dad to do that. Fruit Loops spilled from the box and scattered all over the kitchen.

David put Hanna safely on the ground. "Stay here." He ran into the bedroom to deal with the smoke, ignoring the mess they just made.

"What is going on?" Snow asked as she came down the stairs to a room full of smoke and a kitchen covered in cereal.

David came out of the bedroom holding Hanna's scorched shirt in his hand.

"David, what happened?"

"I must have left the iron sitting on Hanna's shirt when I came to get her down from the counter."

Snow turned to Hanna. "Why were you on the counter?"

Hanna shrugged. "I couldn't reach the cereal."

Snow looked at the clock and sighed. They had ten minutes to get Hanna to school before she was going to be late. This was Snow's first time sending Hanna to school, and she was doing a terrible job of it so far.

"You know, Mom…I could just stay home today."

Snow shook her head. "No. I'm going to iron another shirt. You get a skirt from the dryer and, David, you clean up the cereal."

Hanna groaned, but did what her mom asked. She went to the dryer and pulled out one of her skirts. Her mouth fell open when she held it up. Her dad shrunk her skirt. It looked small enough to fit a toddler. Hanna pulled out the others, and they were all that small. Hanna gathered up her tiny skirts and went to show her parents.

Snow came out of the bedroom. "Okay, Hanna. Here's you shirt, now go get dressed."

"Mom, I can't."

Snow looked up at her daughter. "And why not?"

Hanna held up on of her skirts.

Snow's eyes went wide. "David!"

David walked over to them. "What?"

Snow held out the skirt to her husband.

"Oh…" David took the skirt from her. "I must have messed up the settings on the dryer."

Hanna grinned. "So since I don't have any school clothes to wear…"

Snow sighed. "You can just stay home today. We'll go get you new skirts later."

"Yes! Can we go get breakfast at Granny's?"

Snow exchanged glances with her husband.

"Yes," David told her. "Go get dressed, princess."

Hanna smiled and ran up the stairs.

Snow turned to her husband. "How did you get her off to school so easily while I was away?"

"I didn't iron," David shrugged.

"You sent our daughter to school in wrinkly clothes?" Snow teased.

David wrapped his arms around her. "I had a lot of other things on my mind."

Snow leaned into her husband and neither one could help but laugh. Today may have been a disaster, but tomorrow was another day, and they would be sure that Hanna made it to school on time.
