Alarms were blaring and the hallways were swarming with Decepticons as they made their way towards the lower deck of the warship. Thankfully, there were only a few wandering where they were headed and those unlucky ones to cross their path were quickly disposed of.
She kept an even pace with him once he had relayed crucial information to the rest of Team Prime into their shared comm-link. She was relieved to hear the sound of their voices again. This further fueled her resolve to secure the Omega Lock from the decepticons—to protect her home and the people she cared most.
They gradually switched pacing, opting for stealth more than anything, not wanting to risk being spotted and jeopardizing their element of surprise. She and Ratchet rounded the corner with caution and there stood two decepticons' guarding the door to the control station. Before she had a chance to react, Ratchet had already summoned both blades and then rushed over, taking them down without a problem.
"Ratchet, Ratchet!" She whispered, yelled and right as he was about to walk through those doors she yanked him back. "I'm not letting you face this on your own."
Ratchet gave her a look, of course he would. Like she hadn't noticed his not so subtle actions in keeping her from harm's way, taking down any Decepticon that was unfortunate enough to cross his path.
Her features soften, "It's very sweet of you to protect me, really, but at this moment two heads are better than one." For a brief moment she saw him glance down at her mended injury and then back at her. She was pleasantly surprised when he bobbed his head in acknowledgment.
Stepping inside there was a large dome shaped room and attached to the walls were large cylinders that were gradually being filled with synthetic energon. Ratchet was the first one to spot Shockwave working diligently on the control panels to the Omega Lock.
He looks over his shoulder, whispering loud enough for her to hear. "I will draw his attention away from the panel. You will remain hidden behind the cylinders and strike when you see an opening."
Lucy wordlessly sneaks behind the cylinders and keeps stride with Ratchets' as he begins to approach the Decepticon.
"Shut it down, Shockwave." Ratchet demands, catching the attention of the one-eyed Decepticon as he makes his way over, blades at the ready. "I can not allow you to harm Earth."
"The planet will not be harmed. Only its indigenous life forms." Shockwave blatantly corrects him which only fueled Ratchets' resolve.
"Over my sparkless husk. Aah!"
As they were exchanging blows she had gotten close enough and peers around the corner. It pained her to see Ratchet being vastly overpowered by Shockwave's greater and more brutal fighting skills. Her fingers twitched each time Ratchet would receive a pummeling. As much as it hurt her she had to wait until Shockwave let his guard down.
For what seemed like an agonizingly long time, Shockwave had thrown Ratchet towards the cylinder next to her. She had to watch as Ratchet slumped forward grunting from the pain. She almost—almost blew her cover when Shockwave pointed that massive cannon of his at Ratchet. Until the panel gave a short, high-pitched sound, turning away and approaching the controls.
"Lord Megatron, the Omega Lock is fueled and ready."
The center of the floor began to part open revealing not only Earth below it also revealed the Omega Lock securely attached to the hull of the warship. Once it fully opened someone below had been waiting and opened fire towards Shockwave causing him to dodge rather abruptly.
She waited.
She could hear the scuffle below and when it stopped she heard Megatrons' voice ordering Shockwave to activate the Omega Lock. The one-eyed Decepticon did as he was told and pressed the red button where the Synthetic energon had begun to rapidly drain.
NOW!
She made a full on dash out from her hiding place and rapidly closed the distance where she landed a powerful blow to the side of Shockwaves head. He staggered back and she wasn't quite through with him just yet. Repeatedly striking him, allowing her anger to fuel her relentless assault where she struck him hard using a turning kick where he was pushed back a good distance.
His eye focused on her, studying her with an unease intensity to them. "So, you're the one Megatron has grown obsessed with. Such inexplicable capabilities, one has to wonder about its limitations."
The palms of her hands began to form a sphere shaped light, emitting a smoke-like effect which was a clear indication of her current mood. "Well, you clearly need to rethink your assumptions about my capabilities. The only way to discover the limits of the possible is to go beyond them into the impossible."
"We'll see if that theory is plausible." Shockwave directs his cannon at her and fires.
She feigned to dodge, only to step aside and manipulate the energy of the bullet in a graceful fashion before throwing it right back at him. It was glorious seeing him falter once she aimed it towards him where he had to dodge it at the last minute.
It was then the warship began to shift its movement, teetering from side to side. Ratchet, weak as he was, grabbed the nearest thing to him and held on for dear life. Meanwhile Shockwave had toppled over his feet and desperately tried to pick himself up only to lose his footing again, and as for Lucy––she was levitating, completely unaffected.
Once the warship's sudden movements subsided and right when she was about to resume her fight with Shockwave she saw Smokescreen phasing through the door carrying the Star Saber in his hands. Unfortunately, Shockwave noticed as well and the moment Smokescreen had deactivated the Phase Shifter to throw the sword he had already taken the shot.
"Smokescreen!" She yelled, but it was too late. Smokescreen took a direct hit and was thrown back by the sheer force, dropping the Star Saber as he fell against a cylinder.
More decepticons came pouring in, Starscream being one of them and then her friends; Arcee and Bumblebee. All of them made a desperate attempt to reach for the sword, including Shockwave and herself. Using her powers to her advantage she forced a vehicon to a standstill which Arcee gladly took by throwing the Decepticon towards Starscream. Which left Bumblebee and Shockwave the only ones ahead.
Shockwave fired numerous times and each one she would redirect, allowing Bumblebee to gain the upper hand. He reached the sword first and he could've grabbed it and dashing away with it, instead he threw it up into the air. Distracting Shockwave long enough before landing a strong blow to his eye taking him down in an instant.
Bumblebee catches the Star Saber and then heads straight down to where Optimus was. She rushes over and peers over the edge where she witnesses Optimus going toe to toe with Megatron.
"LUCY BEHIND YOU!" Ratchets' warning gave her enough time to whip around and halt the vehicons' blade mid-way. She palms forward and uses her psychokinesis to prevent the Decepticon from slashing her.
"You… ungrateful swine!" She gritted her teeth, pushing the blade at the decepticon and forcing them down to their knees. The vehicon struggled with her strength and in one swift movement she took their head off with their own blade.
She turned around until she spotted Ratchet realizing that he had crawled his way to peer over the edge. Horror-stricken at the scene unfolding below.
"Ratchet––"
There was a sudden stinging sensation followed by a numbness at the pit of her stomach, she couldn't explain why until she looked down––there was a gaping wound at the center of her abdomen. Her breath hitched sharply once she realized the gravity of the situation.
She was dying.
A terrible sense of dread prickling at the tips of her fingers and then her body began to involuntarily shake. Her muscles gave way landing on her knees and hunched forward where she retched energon over the edge.
Her world spiraled out of control, unable to hear Ratchet crying out to her and Smokescreens' shouting. She wobbled in place until her body couldn't hold itself upright, going over the edge and plummeting into the Omega Locks' energy field.
Then there was weightlessness.
One moment she was staring down at the Omega Lock and the next she was staring up at the ceiling. Her breathing became erratic, all feeling in her body waning once she felt the creeping numbness throughout her limbs.
Ratchet… where is Ratchet?
Lucy turns her head, but too slowly to be normal. Her eyes eventually found him. There were tears, real tears, streaming down his anguished features. He was crying… crying for her. There is sadness in her eyes, the blue too glossy. She mustered what little strength she had to reach out to him, desperately holding onto the thread between life and death.
"…Rat…chet…"
Her optics flickered, with one final breath, the life in her optics going out. Her outstretched hand falling limp and the prominent glow of her hair had turned gray revealing the cables that made up her hair. It didn't take long before her body disappeared into the Cyber-Matter along with Bumblebee.
She was gone.
Gone.
Ratchet struggled to breath only managing to choke out a pained sob. There was a heaviness in his spark and no amount of consolation would mend his grief.
Below the hull of the ship, Optimus had his optics fixated to where Lucys' body had disappeared into the Cyber-Matter, his own spark breaking at the seams. Lucy was the sister he never had with or without the title of Prime that was placed upon her. He turned his attention towards Megatron, but the mech didn't meet his gaze because he too was staring where her body once was.
Megatron killed his young scout.
Megatron killed his FRIEND.
"NOO!"
Enraged, Optimus pummeled Megatron backward in a series of powerful blows until he had him on the ground. Transforming his hand into an ion blaster and was ready to shoot. What he didn't see was Megatron suddenly pulling out the Dark Star Saber, the blast knocking him over the edge. Optimus clung to the side, wheezing from the pain that left a crack across his chassis.
Megatron stomped over and stood at the edge overlooking Prime, defenseless to what he was about to do, raising the sword above his head. "Prepare to join your scout and the femme in the AllSpark."
"Megatron!"
He turned around at the voice calling him where he was met with the Star Saber through his chassis. The one responsible? It was none other than the scout himself, brought back from the dead.
"You took my voice. You will never rob anyone of anything ever again."
Megatron groans, raising the sword only for it to slip through his grasp. His knees buckled, supporting himself with one knee as he clung to the sword embedded into his chassis. It wasn't long before his spark failed and his optics went dark. His body slips and falls from the Omega Lock and plunges Earthward, burning as it enters the atmosphere.
Bumblebee drops the Star Saber and goes over to help Optimus climb his way up.
With the remaining Decepticons fleeing the scene to make their escape and the Autobots reuniting. As everyone marveled at the fact that Bumblebee has his voice back, and Optimus passing on the news to the rest of Team Prime and Hangar E that Megatron has been vanquished.
"Wait, where's Lucy?" Bumblebee searches for her between their small group and when their downcast expressions make him freeze in place and then it hits him."No… she can't be dead. She can't!"
No one uttered a word and that alone confirmed it; Lucy is dead.
Bumblebee heaved a sigh, holding up his hands on the back of his head. "No, no, no… she can't. The Cyber-Matter brought me back, it has to do the same for her!"
Arcee steps forward reaching out to calm him down. "Bee, if that were the case then she would have been back the same time you did. I'm sorry."
Bumblebee couldn't accept it. He wouldn't! She had to be alive somewhere inside the Cyber-Matter and kept on voicing it to the others. Arcee attempts to provide him with some sort of solace but the poor scout was refusing to accept it.
Smokescreen stepped in between them, holding out his good arm in front of Bumblebee. However, his eyes were fixated on something else. "Guys, what is that?"
They all turned, and were stunned into silence. None of them could explain what exactly they were seeing. It was a strange phenomenon to witness the Cyber-Matter rising out of the Omega Lock where it began to curve towards the floor. Without warning, the surface tension broke, spilling Cyber-Matter everywhere and with it a body fell out.
It was Lucy's body.
Ratchet was the first to rush over where the rest followed suit. He kneels down and carefully cradles her head with his hand. He takes a quick scan of her and finds that her mortal wounds have been miraculously repaired, but she still showed no signs of life. His spark couldn't handle it and his optics began to gloss over.
Then she took in a deep breath.
